Samsung has taken the next step today by releasing the Samsung FaceBook App For Android. We all know that FaceBook’s official app FaceBook For Android isn’t really a good performer even for some of the basic tasks.

The new app from Samsung is just a 1.5MB download and offers the following features:

Its true that apps like Boxcar and Echofon has had this service for a while now, but its still a good news when the official twitter client for iPhone gets the same feature. A few of the lucky users started to receive push notifications on their iPhone which according to Twitter officials were under closed testing. They said some misconfiguration has led to push notifications showing up in public users phone.

Now that the news is out, officials had to confirm that the app will be receiving the service soon. We are hoping that replies and DMs will be pushed. But new user follow notification would also be nice. If you are one of the users like me who ditched Twitter For iPhone for other third party apps, does this new bring you second thoughts on the app ??

The Social Feeds is designed to access and interact with your social networks including BlackBerry® Messenger® (BBM™), Facebook®, MySpace® and Twitter®.

Social Feeds is just like your RSS feeds where you can find your friends’ FaceBook status updates, Twitter update, BBMs and more. It is similar to the current BlackBerry inbox you are familiar with.

Once you are in the Social Feeds application, you are provided with the choice to decide what you want to view. Using the top navigation bar, you can toggle between the Social and RSS views, or filter down within the Social or RSS view for specific sources (for example, filter by Facebook or Twitter or MySpace items for the Social view, or different RSS feeds in the RSS view). Clicking on a specific social status update will take you directly into that social network’s application on your BlackBerry smartphone, and clicking on a specific RSS post will take you directly to that content via the BlackBerry® Browser.

Now that you can have multiple social networks configured a=in one place updating them should be easy. For this you could simply choose New Post from the social feeds menu and select the social networks where you want your update to appear.

Social feeds app is so integrated with your contact list that selecting a contact pulls up all the notifications and communication you had with that particular contact. (note: this feature requires users to allow automatic contact syncing in Facebook, and manual contact syncing for Twitter, MySpace and BlackBerry Messenger).

Apple has announced their latest iPods today and oh boy, they are amazing. To start with, we have the iPod Shuffle, which has got even smaller and now comes with buttons, voice over and a clip attached.

With 2GB of storage, 15 hours of music playback, iPod Shuffle is a great steal at $49.

The all new nano came as a surprise at the event with the inclusion of a multitouch screen and no buttons. iPod nano can now play upto 24 hours of continuous music on a full charge and comes with 8GB and 16GB storage capacity. It also has built in FM which lets not just listen to stations but also pause, rewind and play FM. Each models are priced at $149 and $179.

And the iPod Touch was one of the biggest announcements made today. It now stands neck to neck with iPhone 4 in terms of features. That means the iPod touch 4G now has the amazing Retina Display, Apple A4 chip, Front and rear facing cameras, HD Video Recording etc. It has got even thinner and plays music upto 40 hours and videos upto 7 hours on a full recharge. iPod touch is available 8GB, 32GB and 64GB priced at $229, $299 and $399 respectively.

This isn’t a confirmed news but at the same time not hard to believe as well. We are all well aware about the iPhone 4 reception issues. Apple had even hosted a press conference to address this issue. Apple did send out free bumpers to the users and said all those purchased phones since then through September are eligible for full refund or free bumper. So Apple did have some plans it seems for September it seems.

Now according to report from PocketNow.com , a Mexican technology publication canalMX has quoted carrier Telcel’s Director of Value Added Services, Marco Quatorze, as saying that “as of September 30th Telcel will have new iPhone 4 devices that don’t carry reception issues” further reporting that “he also explained that the company will offer various options for device swaps if any customers face a faulty device.” Telcel released the latest iPhone on August 29th.

If you’re a Hotmail user who’ve been desperate to get push emails on your phone without paying extra so that you could stay in sync, then your days of waiting are over unless you are on Android platform (may work with TouchDown).

MSN Hotmail now supports direct push(Active Sync). Supported devices are:
Windows Mobile 6.x
Windows Phone 7
Apple iPhone
iPod Touch
iPad
Nokia E-Series
Nokia S-Series
Nokia N-Series with the Mail for Exchange application.

The instruction to set up push on each of these devices are given below :

Quick Steps

• If your device supports only one profile of ActiveSync, delete the existing ActiveSync profile on your device if you already use it
• Enter the following:
URL – m.hotmail.com
Username – Enter full name with domain info, e.g. john@hotmail.com
Domain – Leave blank (see Known Issues for some Nokia devices)
SSL – Enabled
Certificate – Accept the SSL certificate when prompted
Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Tasks – All can be enabled.

WM 6.x Setup

The steps are identical between WM 6.1 and 6.5. If deleting an existing profile, make sure to back up the data on the device before configuring the ActiveSync profile for Hotmail access.

1. Click on “ActiveSync” under Start menu or under Programs.
2. Click on the link above to configure the ActiveSync profile for Hotmail access. You may need to delete the existing profile if it is already in use.
3. Disable automatic detection of Exchange server settings.
4. Enter your full Hotmail address in User name field. Enter password. Leave Domain blank.
5. Enter m.hotmail.com in the Server address field.
6. Select the data to sync. Hotmail supports all 4 data types via ActiveSync.
7. The device will connect to Hotmail ActiveSync and perform an initial sync for the selected data.
8. Successful synchronization will result in device showing a screen like this.

iPhone setup

The steps are similar for the iPhone, iPod Touch and the iPad. On a device that supports only a single ActiveSync profile, make sure to back up the data on the device before configuring the ActiveSync profile for Hotmail access.

1. Click on Settings. Under Settings, click on “Mail, Contacts, Calendar”.
2. Click on “Add Account” in the Accounts page.
3. Click on “Microsoft Exchange” to configure Hotmail access.
4. Enter your full Hotmail email address in both Email and Username fields. Leave Domain blank. Enter your password. In the Description field, enter a name, e.g Hotmail.
5. Enter m.hotmail.com for the Server name.
6. If access succeeds, you will see this page. Select the data to sync. Click on Save.

Nokia Setup – Mail for Exchange

The following steps are for the Mail for Exchange application on most Nokia smartphones. If the existing ActiveSync profile is already in use, make sure to back up the data on the device before configuring the ActiveSync profile for Hotmail access.

1. Click on “Mail for Exchange” icon in the Application menu.
2. Click on “Sync mode”. You may need to delete the existing profile if already used to configure it for Hotmail access.
3. Enter your full Hotmail email address in Email address and Username fields.
4. Enter m.hotmail.com in the Exchange server field.
5. Select the Initial sync option for calendar, e.g. “Delete items on phone”.
6. Select the Initial sync option for tasks, e.g. “Delete items on phone”.
7. Select the Initial sync option for contacts, e.g. “Delete items on phone”.
8. Configure the Sync mode to be either push or pull at a specified interval.
