Couponing in Real Life: I saved 53% at Harris Teeter!

It’s been a while since I have shared any of my shopping trips with you, but I had such good luck today at Harris Teeter that I thought I would go ahead and post my trip!

I didn’t really need too much in the way of groceries this week, but I wanted to pick up some of the better sales, plus I had a $5 off $25 competitor coupon that was going to expire today, and I couldn’t let that go to waste

The meat department yielded some very good buys for me over the past couple of weeks…last week I found a whole organic chicken marked down to just over $5, a family pack of pork chops for $6, and some Italian sausage for $2.65. This week I found a big chuck roast marked down to just $7….it’s one of my husband’s favorite meals, so I really scored there

Here are the highlights from this week’s trip:

(3) Apple Jacks, on sale for $1.97 each (regular price is $3.89 each)
Used $1/3
$1.63 each after coupon

(2) All laundry detergent, on sale for $2.97 each (regular price is $6.15 each)
Used (2) $1/1
$1.97 each after coupons

(3) Barilla pasta, on sale for $1.39 and $1 each (regularly $1.69 each)
Used $1/3
$.92 each after coupon

(2) Ore Ida potatoes, on sale BOGO (regularly $3.75 each)
Used $1.50/2
$1.13 each after coupon

(2) Heluva Good cheese, on sale for $2 each (regularly $2.99 each)
Used $1/2
$1.50 each after coupon

(10) Yoplait yogurts, on sale for $.40 each (regularly $.80 each)
Used $.50/8, which doubled to $1
And $.40/6 E-Vic coupon
$.26 each after coupons

I also used a $5/$25 competitor’s coupon

Total before store card and coupons: $109.06

Total after card and coupons: $50.79

That’s a savings of 53%!

And check out this catalina that I received for a free container of frozen yogurt! I can’t wait to try it out

Clutter-Busting Challenge, Day 14: More clothing

It felt so good to empty out my dresser drawers of old and outdated clothing yesterday, so I thought I would continue along with it today.

(By the way, did I mention yesterday that as I went through my dresser drawers, I ended up finding 4 shirts that I had been looking for/forgotten about? I was so happy to find them…it was almost like I had gone shopping and brought some new stuff home! That tells you how much clutter I have :/)

I also decided that since I took Tuesday and Wednesday off from the challenge, I needed to come up with 14 items for those days, plus the 7 for today.

It wasn’t too hard to do, however! I went through one more of my dresser drawers, and then hit my hubby’s side and found 5 old t-shirts that he hasn’t worn for quite a long time.

The closet yielded 14 extra pieces, plus a pants hanger that had seen better days. Now I have a nice big pile of stuff to donate

Clutter-Busting Challenge, Day 13: Wading into the Dressers

So….I’m a few days behind (again!) in the Clutter-Busting Challenge. But getting rid of clutter is a big goal of mine, so I will just have to make it a higher priority next week. And maybe do some catching up over the weekend

I decided to start going through some of my clothing, and weed out some of the things that I don’t wear anymore. I began in my dresser today and found a few things to rid of:

I found several old shirts that were either torn, stained or just plain worn out, plus a few pairs of pajamas that don’t fit (one is too big, the other too small).
