277- Rescue Dawn

Renowned director Werner Herzog's inspiring film recounts the heroic saga of Dieter Dengler, a German-American fighter pilot and highly decorated Vietnam veteran whose reconnaissance plane was shot down in 1966. Captured by enemy forces and held in a Laotian torture camp near the Ho Chi Minh Trail, Dengler (portrayed by Christian Bale) defied death by organizing one of the most daring escapes in the Vietnam conflict.

276- Victory

This World War II drama set in a German POW camp follows prisoners hand-picked for a competition. Maj. Karl von Steiner (Max von Sydow), a former soccer player for the German national team, organizes a soccer match between Nazis and Allied prisoners, to be played in Paris. With some key players, including former English soccer player Capt. John Colby (Michael Caine), the team has a good shot at winning the game … but that could foil a plan.

Set in civil war-ravaged Northern Uganda, this Best Documentary nominee for the 2008 Oscars follows the lives of three youngsters who attend school in a refugee camp and find hope through a rich tradition of song and dance. Coming from a world in which children are abducted from their families and forced to fight in the rebel army, these kids give it their all when they travel to the capital city to take part in the prestigious Kampala Music Festival.

This poignant documentary details the story of Darryl Hunt, a black North Carolina man who spent 20 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit. After the rape and murder of a young white journalist in 1984, public outcry and intense media scrutiny -- along with simmering racial tensions -- pressured officials to close the case. Hunt was quickly convicted. In 1994, DNA evidence proved his innocence, but Hunt wasn't exonerated for 10 more years.

268- Mr. Death: The Rise and Fall of Fred A. Leuchter Jr.

Oscar-winning director Errol Morris' riveting documentary explores the life of Fred A. Leuchter Jr., the execution specialist who worked with prisons to make capital punishment more humane. Hired by a revisionist historian to disprove the holocaust, Leuchter traveled to Auschwitz -- while on his honeymoon -- to research the matter and concluded that the gas chambers didn't exist. The ensuing international flap destroyed his marriage and career.

Frank Oz directs this remake of the 1963 Brando vehicle Bedtime Story, with Steve Martin as Freddy, a small-time con man who butts heads with Lawrence (Michael Caine), a successful European swindler working the Riviera. Hoping to get rid of one another, they make a loser-leaves bet to scam the fortunes of a wealthy heiress (Glenne Headly). Watching Martin do his slapstick shtick is hilarious, and the lush French Riviera backdrop is gorgeous.

223- Three Amigos

Suddenly sacked by their Hollywood studio, three silent-movie stars (Steve Martin, Chevy Chase and Martin Short) head down Mexico way in response to a cable from a señorita in distress (Patrice Martinez). The trio erroneously assumes they've been summoned to perform in a show with locally renowned actor El Guapo (Alfonso Arau). Turns out that El Guapo is no thespian, the desperados aren't extras, and they aren't shooting blanks!

A faint-hearted hero (Allen) is drafted for war and convinces his beautiful cousin (Diane Keaton) to marry him. She thinks he's doomed, but he manages to survive a sure-death duel. Now, a plot to assassinate Napoleon is the only thing that can keep them together.

217- The Odd Couple

Tossed out of the house by his wife and close to packing it in, Felix Unger (Jack Lemmon) decides the best thing to do is move in with his best pal: barely housebroken, deliberately devolved caveman Oscar Madison (Walter Matthau). Taken for what it is, the movie's a tribute of sorts to another film starring a diminutive hero, Lord of the Rings.

213- Iron Monkey

Hiyaaah! Quentin Tarantino (the writer-director behind Pulp Fiction) retranslated, rescored and subtitled an unintentionally campy Golden Harvest action movie that dates back to 1993. Tarantino's tampering makes the story easier to follow, and that's probably a blessing. But what's also a blessing is the great fight choreography and mind-bending wire-fu acrobatics, which remain intact.

212- Chak De! India

Years after facing humiliating defeat on the field, former hockey star Kabir Khan (Shahrukh Khan) returns to the game as coach of the Indian women's national hockey team, striving to shape a ragtag bunch of female athletes into a playing force to be reckoned with. But the team's problem isn't a lack of talent; it's the fact that the girls have never played with pure passion and have yet to embrace a true love of the sport.

211- Ushpizin

A downtrodden couple finds hope and good fortune -- amid unexpected houseguests -- in this humorous take on religious Jews living in a modern world. Moshe (Shuli Rand) and his wife are given a sum to help prepare for the holy holiday of Succoth and end up hosting two unannounced guests (rather, escaped prisoners). The couple must deal with their boorish visitors, who reveal Moshe's not-so-holy past, while upholding their faith.

Tom Berenger and Willem Dafoe excel as battle-hardened sergeants who offer Sheen starkly differing role models.

068- A Night at the Opera

The Marx Brothers -- Groucho, Harpo and Chico -- wreak havoc in the opera house in one of their biggest hits. Penned by Morrie Ryskind and George S. Kaufman, the film contains perhaps the greatest comic bit the Marxes ever pulled off: the crowded stateroom scene. Kitty Carlisle and Allan Jones are charming as the singing romantic leads whom the Marxes help transform into big-time opera stars.

067- Easy Rider

On the way to becoming the ultimate 1960s counterculture film, Dennis Hopper's antiestablishment road movie (his directorial debut) garnered widespread critical acclaim. Flush with cash from a cocaine sale and looking for the "real America," motorcycle mavericks Billy (Hopper) and Wyatt (Peter Fonda) are joined by boozy American Civil Liberties Union lawyer George Hanson (Jack Nicholson, in an Oscar-nominated performance) as they hit the road.

061- All the President's Men

The film that launched a thousand journalism school students, All the President's Men chronicles how reporters Bob Woodward (Robert Redford) and Carl Bernstein (Dustin Hoffman) brought down Richard M. Nixon. The duo connected a Washington, D.C., hotel break-in with a Nixon "dirty tricks" team assigned to discredit Democratic rivals. Director Alan J. Pakula ratchets up the tension (no small feat, as the outcome is assured).

060- In the Heat of the Night

A Philadelphia detective (Sidney Poitier) helps a redneck Southern sheriff (Rod Steiger, who won a Best Actor Oscar) solve a murder in this fascinating study in racism that still strikes a resonant chord today. Steiger is fabulous as the put-upon sheriff who comes to respect Poitier's professionalism and ability. Norman Jewison directs with feeling for the cultural and social atmosphere of the setting. Filmed in 1967.

059- Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

Legendary outlaws Butch Cassidy (Paul Newman) and the Sundance Kid (Robert Redford) display perfect comedic timing and charisma as they pull off heist after heist in this Oscar-winning film from director George Roy Hill. To evade a relentless posse, the boys flee to Bolivia, thinking they'll find easier pickings there. But trouble finds the fugitives wherever they go, and soon, the charming desperadoes are on the run again.

058- The Shawshank Redemption: Special Edition

Upstanding banker Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) is framed for a double murder in the 1940s and begins a life sentence at the Shawshank prison, where he's befriended by an older inmate named Red (Morgan Freeman). During his long stretch in prison, Dufresne comes to be admired by the other inmates for his upstanding moral code and unquenchable sense of hope. Bob Gunton (who's memorable as the amoral prison warden) co-stars in this Oscar nominee for Best Picture.

As U.S. troops storm the beaches of Normandy, three brothers lie dead on the battlefield, with a fourth trapped behind enemy lines. Ranger captain Tom Hanks and seven men are tasked with penetrating German-held territory and bringing the boy home. Steven Spielberg and cinematographer Janusz Kaminski paint a harrowing picture of the price of war and heroism -- one that netted them Oscars for Best Director and Best Cinematography, respectively.

William Holden contrasts their avarice as an old-school TV journalist hopelessly out of step.

052- Cabaret

Prewar Berlin's debauchery and turbulence is chronicled through the perspective of a British scribe (Michael York) and his comrades, among them flamboyant American nightclub entertainer Sally Bowles (Liza Minnelli). Existing in a morally ambiguous void, they doggedly maintain their façades as the world outside the cabaret gears for war. Director Bob Fosse uses the kitsch cabaret to reflect German society as it shifts from hedonism to Hitlerism.

051- American Graffiti: Collector's Edition

The film that put director George Lucas on the Hollywood map also expertly showcased newcomers such as Harrison Ford, Richard Dreyfuss, Suzanne Somers and "Ronny" Howard. Lucas masterfully weaves together the stories of a disparate group of high school students as they struggle with adolescent rites of passage in 1962. Touching and timeless, American Graffiti is a not-to-be-missed classic.

050- Sullivan's Travels

Joel McCrea plays a Hollywood director, tired of churning out comedies, decides to write a serious, socially responsible film about human suffering. After his producers point out that he knows nothing of hardship, he hits the road as a hobo. On his journey he finds the lovely Veronica Lake and more trouble than he ever dreamed of.

049- Nashville

Director Robert Altman's sprawling masterpiece about politics and country music astonishes. A huge cast of characters (including Shelley Duvall, Keith Carradine, Ned Beatty and Karen Black) gets caught up in a political rally that takes over the home of country music. The many fine performances include Lily Tomlin's bored housewife and Henry Gibson's pompous, patriotic country singer. The actors wrote and performed their own songs.

048- The Gold Rush

Charlie Chaplin's comic masterpiece centers on the hardships of life on the Alaskan frontier. The Little Tramp plays a pathetic, lonely prospector who journeys to the Klondike hoping to discover gold and make his fortune. Instead, he gets mixed up with some burly characters and falls in love with the beautiful Georgia (Georgia Hale). This video includes the 1942 sound re-release version of the film (the 1925 silent version is on the bonus video).

047- Rocky

Gritty, grim and epic, Rocky is the real deal, a crowd pleaser with a less-than-storybook ending. When Muhammad Ali-esque boxing champ Carl Weathers wants to give a nobody a shot at the title as a publicity stunt, his handlers pick palooka Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone). Rocky won the 1976 Best Picture Oscar thanks to John Avildsen's solid direction and Stallone's root-for-the-underdog script.

046- Jaws

When an insatiable great white shark terrorizes the townspeople of Amity Island, a police chief (Roy Scheider), a grizzled shark hunter (Robert Shaw) and an oceanographer (Richard Dreyfuss) seek to destroy it. Director Steven Spielberg created the summer blockbuster boom with this white-knuckle adaptation of the Peter Benchley novel. John Williams's ominous musical score has become legendary.

045- North by Northwest

What if everyone around you was suddenly convinced you were a spy? This classic from master director Alfred Hitchcock stars Cary Grant as an advertising executive who looks a little too much like someone else and is forced to go on the lam (helped along by Eva Marie Saint). Hitchcock's sure-handed comic drama pits Grant against a crop duster and lands him in a fight for his life on Mount Rushmore. That's a cliffhanger if ever there was one!

044- MASH

Director Robert Altman's thinly veiled Vietnam War satire is indicative of when the spirit of the 1970s went mainstream, with Elliot Gould, Donald Sutherland and Tom Skerritt as Army doctors fighting military insanity and healing wounded soldiers during the Korean War. Featuring an Oscar-winning score and standout work from a huge ensemble cast (including Robert Duvall and Sally Kellerman), M*A*S*H is a masterpiece of '70s cinema.

043- The Deer Hunter

A group of working-class friends decides to enlist in the Army during the Vietnam War and finds it to be hellish chaos -- not the noble venture they imagined. One of the survivors (Robert De Niro) must return to Saigon to save a shattered pal (Christopher Walken) from certain death in a Russian roulette club. An Oscar-winning epic, The Deer Hunter shows the heavy toll the conflict exacted on soldiers and civilians.

042- West Side Story

Winner of 10 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, this classic musical set among the tenements of New York City finds star-crossed lovers Maria (Natalie Wood) and Tony (Richard Beymer) caught in the midst of a turf war between rival gangs the Sharks and the Jets. The modern Romeo and Juliet story features original choreography by Jerome Robbins, as adapted from the stage production. Oscar winners Rita Moreno and George Chakiris co-star.

Superman: The Movie

A big-budget comic book movie before such a thing existed. This movie set the bar for comic book adaptations. Excellent special effects for the time it was made. Overall this is a great movie.

Mission: Impossible III

Going into this I wasn't expecting much, but in the end, I was very surprised. The movie starts great, and overall, I felt this was a very good movie. It is not as good as the first one, but it definitely redeems the franchise from the horrible MI2. Philip Seymour Hoffman really delivers as the bad guy, Owen Davian. If your looking for some action, this is your movie.

24: Season 6

This season starts out weak, and doesn't really start to deliver until the last few discs. However, 24 is still one of the best shows on TV and this is definitely worth watching and the ending of this season is superb.

Alias: Season 5

The first few seasons were great. In season 4, things started to get really weird and even more confusing. This final season was just plain bad. I still have no idea what actually happened with Rambaldi. (All I know is that there was this giant red ball.) What happened?

Daylight

Okay, Sylvester Stallone isn't the best actor to ever grace the silver screen. However, he can definitely hold his own in an action movie like this. He makes his character believable. One issue I have with this movie is that Viggo Mortensen should have had more screen-time. Despite it's drawbacks, you should still see this movie.

An American Tail

I loved this movie when I was young and it is still one of my favorite animated movies ever. This tale of Fievel's journey is fun, charming, and heart-warming.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail

This is one of the funniest movies ever made and the crazy thing is is that no matter how many times you see it, it's still hilarious. Rent this right now and then buy it and watch it again! You simply must.

Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut

This is the definitive version of Superman II. It's amazing how much better this version is than Richard Lester's. The plot changes showcase more great acting from Christopher Reeve and Gene Hackman. Seeing Marlon Brando added back into the movie is great. Overall, it's great to see Richard Donner's original vision for the film.

Justice League: The New Frontier

I loved this movie. The animation was beautiful. Also, the story was great because it showed the origins of Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, and the Justice League. The ending reminded me of Independence Day. I really enjoyed watching this story unfold as there were many twists and turns. Any comic book fan should really enjoy this movie.

Iron Man

This movie is awesome. Robert Downey Jr. is great as Tony Stark. Stark's journey to become Iron Man is told just as well as Batman's was in Batman Begins. This is definitely the best Marvel comic book adaptation to date. Visually, this movie is stunning. The Iron Man suit looks amazing. NVGEUR R KVMJNQS VN SGMJ WELP! VS VAUSIULN CQAGU! Star Wars: The Clone Wars

I went into the theater very nervous. I had heard negative things about the movie and there was a lot of potential for mistakes. Once the title card appeared and retreated into the distance, I was relieved. Star Wars was back. How could I be disappointed? I loved the intro because it was very reminiscent of the old action serials that Star Wars and Indiana Jones were both inspired by. Basically, we were told: Jabba the Hutts son has been kidnapped and needs to be rescued so that the Republic can be allowed to use Jabbas hyperspace lanes. and were thrown into the action. As the movie rolled on, I enjoyed it. I liked how it wasnt too real looking. The filmmakers could have decided to make the animation look almost as good as live-action, but what would be the point? We accept the fact that its a cartoon and I think that the story only works with animation, and would have failed were it live-action. While I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, I found myself cringing at some of the acting and writing. Some lines were cheesy, but it is Star Wars, so you cant complain. Overall, the story felt like a stretched TV show (which is basically what it was). With a feature, there was so much potential, but I cant gripe too much about the story because the movie and subsequent TV show are obviously geared towards a new generation of Star Wars fans. (not that that should stop you from enjoying either) In my opinion, the best part of the movie was the cinematography and lighting. My favorite shot is when the camera is running behind the clones in the opening battle. The use of color in the movie was very well done, especially when Anakin is riding in the Republic gunship. While The Clone Wars has its faults, all-in-all I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone. It was a great introduction to the TV series, which I think will be much more satisfying than the movie because the simple stories will work better as individual episodes instead of a stretched movie.

Iron Man: Bonus Material

This bonus material is definitely worth watching if you enjoyed the movie. "I am Iron Man", the feature-length documentary on the creation of Iron Man is a very well-done, in depth view of the process to make the movie. That alone makes this disc worth renting. In addition, there is a feature on the special effects of Iron Man that highlights the spectacular special effects of the movie.
