It's hard to believe it's the end of the year. In a little over 12 hours we will be starting anew. Most people use this new date as a time to refresh and rethink what has happened over the past year. There have been births, deaths, new jobs, old jobs lost, marriages, divorces, salvations, spiritual growth, and many other milestones in people’s lives. Maybe one of these situations applies to you. So the question is, what are you going to do better in 2010?

Most people set "New Year Resolutions" but they only last for a couple of months, weeks or even days before they slip back into the old ways. So this year instead of a "Resolution" were we "resolve" to do something, DO IT!! Set your goal and then make a PLAN on how you're going to achieve this goal. Most resolutions fail because there was no plan in place.

Start with the question I asked earlier "What are you going to do BETTER in 2010?" Here are some ideas that friends have stated they will be making their goals and plans for:

· Get to work on time (achieve this by getting up 15 mins earlier, setting out EVERYONE'S clothes the night before)

· Have a healthy breakfast at least 3 times a week

· Pay off a credit card (this is what I'm doing!)

· Read my Bible more

· Go to Church on a regular basis

· Reach out to a new person

I am a youth leader at my church. During our Wednesday night ATTITUDE check, we talked about our daily devotions and that they are important in our lives to keep us in check with God and His plan for our lives. I’ve challenged each one to use the Our Daily Bread daily devotions guide (http://www.rbc.org/odb/odb.shtml) as a simple yet effective way to start this new habit.

There are many many more things that people will be striving to change in their lives but without a plan, this will fail.

So what is your goal and how will you achieve it? WRITE IT DOWN and post it on your mirror in the bathroom or on the refrigerator. This way it's a daily reminder. If you fall off of the wagon, get yourself up and start again. It's better to start again than to quit altogether.

Here's to a wonderful New Year. I pray that the Lord will bless you and your family.
