LATIN ART JEWELRY FESTIVALS

www.latinartjewelry.com

I can't be more excited. Spring is here, and that to me means two things, warmer weather (not some much this year) and art and craft festivals are back wohooooo viva, arriva arriva yeahhhh!!!

Me as many other craft people, who their main job or the only job ( my case), that we have is to sell our craft, the months of December, January and February are the longest months of the year.

We love what we do; we love our job, being outside, talking to people, making new friends, and of course selling our creations.

So after 3 months of vacation, not really because I am still working inside the house in the jewelry, and as a house wife who love to cook yummy food and a mother of a busy two years old, I am ready to go go go.

The first festival of the spring season was last Saturday and it was a totally success. I was afraid at first, because I have never being in Lawrenceville, Ga and I have not idea how the first spring festival would be.

It was really windy but a beautiful warm and sunny day. There was a lot of people walking, shopping and enjoying the festival around downtown.

Thank you Lawrenceville, I promise I will be back this summer or fall, if I am still in Ga.

Hello, hello...I am back again with more beautiful, funky and one of a kind jewerly "tagua jewelry"

SO, It's hard to keep updating a blog when I have zero time left between making jewelry, taking care of my house and my little now 14 month old daughter. But, I have missed it so much. So I am back :)

Lena with her little tagua bracelet

These are the new arrivals for winter-spring 2012. I am so proud of my new designs, they all beautiful and different. Here are few pictures of the new jewelry. I hope you enjoy it. If you want to see more please fell free to visit www.latinartjewelry.com

I have to say that, I have been busy working on taking better pictures of my jewelry. When I started my online business almost two years ago, my pictures were so poor :( compared to what they are now :).

All what I did was to put more light in the room where I take the pictures, set my jewelry in a black display with a white background and the most important thing...after I take the picture, I edit it. I have a mac computer which makes my work so much easier, I truly love my apple computer and the photo editor is great.

Here are my pictures of the before and after shots. I hope this information helps someone out there!!!

What is Tagua and how the jewelry is made?

www.latinartjewelry.com

It's really interesting to know how TAGUA jewelry is made, since it take several month from the moment they collect the tagua nut, until the moment the product it's made and ready to sell.

Tagua Nuts

Handmade tagua necklace and bracelet

Tagua and mate seeds necklace

The tagua nut is a dried seed from the tagua palm tree, which grows in tropical rain forests of South America (Ecuador, Colombia, Peru and Brazil).

Tagua is also known as natural ivory or vegetable ivory, because its similarity with ivory (it's hard, unbreakable, resistant and beautiful), but tagua is natural, they don't have to kill elephant in order to get it.

Tagua palm tree

The tagua nut comes in a fruit that carries multiples nuts. Each nut has a shell that contains the seed. This seed is the size of a chicken egg and is covered in a thin brown skin.

Tagua skin is dark brown

The nuts are sun-dried for 4 to 6 months before they can be worked with. Once dried, tagua can carved and be polished to a bright shine. Tagua's natural color is white but it is easily to dye and can be found in different bright colors or pastel light colors.

Tagua seed natural color is white

Tagua nut after dye.

Handmade tagua jewerly is not only beautiful, colorful, resistant ad unique, but after you get to know the long process that takes to make the jewelry, you are going to be amazed by.
