Hello, my friends, how are you?

It is extremely hot today here (it's literally more than 33o C) which makes me wonder why have I not hit the beach yet and let my spirit indulge into its cool sea waters? Rhetorical question, as I am about to as soon as I finish some things that lay on top of my todo list. Anyway, the weather is not going to change for the next many months (summer is here, yay!) so now it's time to balance summer pleasures with actual working on this really tempting island that I live in.

On another note, keeping the indoors fresh while the warm weather lasts is vital and a coastal inspired styling really helps to do so. Shabby woods, nautical stripes, crisp white linens and some beach keepsakes from previous vacation are only a few things you can use to create the feeling.

So, does it feel like summer where you live? I'd love to know!

I've never had a laundry room in any of the apartments I've lived so far, but if I ever had one, it'd most probably be as fresh and bright as this one. I totally adore the blue appliances, the stripy rug and the seagrass baskets! The fitted bench looks practical as well (someone has to keep you company while getting done with the chores, don't you agree?)

Tin can planters

I wanted to show you theses photos quite a long time now (actually since this post) as I'm very proud of them. I've been collecting these KYKNOS tomato tin cans for many years as I completely dig their simple vintage graphic design and their bold red hue. I wanted to incorporate them into my home decor but, up until now, the only thing I used them at was storing paper clips and lighters at my desk (not very inspiring, I know).

I bought a few small cacti the other day from the local market with the prospect of putting them inside my little cans. It was a hit! The size of the cacti was just perfect and I just placed them, with their own plastic pots, right inside the cans. Piece of cake! Now they are beautifying the top shelf of my living room bookcase and I just can't get enough of them.

An update (since these shots are almost a month old): My cacti are growing fast and they'll probably need to be transplanted inside the tin cans creating the proper drainage and soil. The bigger pink plant (I think it's called Hypoestes) is already transplanted in a bigger planter so it can grow even prettier.

What do you think of them? I'd love to know!

I'd love to share with you some of the vintage finds that Kalyn has gathered in her etsy shop, Ocean Swept. What really impressed me about them is that they have this sort of weathered appeal (as any good vintage possession must have) combined with a coastal freshness and that makes them a cool addition to a summerish decor. First thing that came into my mind when I bumped into El Carligto is, wow, this place is definitely bringing its inhabitants closer to a soul balanced way of living. I know this is just a wild guess but, after you see the following photos, will most probably agree with me. Hello my friends, how are you?

It's been a long and fun week over here, as we celebrated the Orthodox Easter last Sunday and somehow, managed to keep the festivities all week long (along with birthdays and family reunions). Caught up in the turbulence of time, when realizing that small cousins are all grown up men and grandparents are not as vigorous as once were, it's that bizarre feeling of coming to terms, even for a fraction of a second, with the fact that time passes by and all that we ever possess is the present moment to claim our own and do it as we please.

Looks like a considerably easy way to fill a large piece of paper with repeated shapes and patterns and create a good looking art piece for your home or to give away as a gift.
