How to Decorate a Venue for a Family Reunion

Home and garden venues are becoming a trend as summer is steadily rolling in. Blame it on the plethora of home improvement shows on television, but it’s a fact that everyone wants to celebrate this or that holiday, birthday, wedding, reunion and singles party in a garden location. Not that I’m complaining though.

Hello Summer! This is the season for parties… in fact, this second part of the year is bound to be awesome, business-wise, with the holidays coming.

Here’s a tip for all you party planners who want to create a theme party in your client’s backyard. Usually, family reunions and retirement parties are held in gardens, which means you have to pay extra attention to lighting, seating and patio decorations.

Food should be last priority when your client is inviting family and friends over. Most family parties are the pot luck type so you shouldn’t sweat it. You can focus your energy on making sure the venue is free of bugs, sharp rocks, twigs that could injure the running kids and quaint enough to satisfy the taste of the family members you are entertaining.

If you want to make changes to the home and garden, you must first inform the client that you’re going to be moving plants around. Some plants are sensitive to heat and cold so you need to make sure you don’t offend the client by killing her orchids while you’re working your magic on her garden.

The objective is to turn everyday living spaces (patios and backyards) into beautiful, inviting places to have parties. Even the smallest changes can make an big difference in a garden. For instance, adding lanterns instead of a spotlight can improve people’s moods. Lanterns and other lighting accessories can help relax the old folks and make them nostalgic enough to start re-telling stories of old.

If the garden is spacious, display, fresh-cut flowers on the tables and on the paths leading to the kitchen the gate or the front porch. Add more color to a space by using multi-colored table cloths and wrapping ribbons around chairs.

Big pillows on grass add warmth and coziness to any garden party. Don’t be content with just placing plastic chairs around the garden to encourage conversation. Use bean bags or even picnic blankets to make encourage the kids to frolic about.

Party Planning Business: Decorating Your Home Office Like a Pro

Where do party planners entertain prospects? Is it always in coffee shops, restaurants, hotel lobbies? Not really. Most of the time, the exchange of commissions, plans and orders happen at home. In particular, if the client wants to spend the afternoon talking about her dream wedding, it is best to do it in a place where she can almost imagine her dream wedding happening before her very eyes… your home office!

With that said, the best thing you can do for your business is to make your place of residence… your home office… a picturesque image of the success that you are.

This isn’t difficult. You just have to take it one section of the room at a time. The floor is a great place to start when decorating a spacious home office. You can browse catalogs and look for the glass tile color that appeals to you, and then take it from there. You can formulate your furniture plans and curtain designs afterward.

Black and white vinyl tiles laid alternately make a good-looking checker board pattern that looks neat and pretty. You can also use black marble accented by wide white baseboards.

If you are too overwhelmed by the choices to formulate a single theme for decorating your home office, you can go for the minimalist look. Get white ceramic tiles with a black border or simply use pure black or white.

White floors and walls usually remind people of hospitals, but you can offset this by complementing your floor color with lively colored furniture and curtains. White walls are a must if you want your paintings and framed photos to stand out. White is a perfect backdrop for artwork framed in black or lacquered wood.

Wedding Gift Suggestions: High Ticket Gifts for Newly Weds

Some popular wedding presents include personalized frames, jewelry and mementos, but what if you’re giving something high end? For instance, you know that the newly weds are moving to a new house, and you’re more than “just a friend” to them (e.g. you’re a best friend or a relative), what can you give to make their honeymoon more carefree and memorable?

Here’s my suggestion: give them a high-end wedding gift that they can use to furnish their new house with. Some of the more popular ones include:

1. Kitchen Appliances

Refrigerators, dishwashers and ovens… you name it. If the bride is into cooking, you should give her something that will make food preparation easier, like a food processor or a stove top grill. For the groom, you can give him an outdoor grill for garden events in the future.

2. Bedroom furniture

Something like a sleep number bed will thrill the newly weds. You can also give two dressers so that they won’t have to squabble over mirror time in the morning. Another gift suggestion is a bedroom sound system for piped in romantic music or a bedroom entertainment system for movie nights.

3. Tickets to an Exotic Honeymoon Location

If you are looking to give your newly wed friends a short summer vacation that’s budget-friendly and enjoyable, why not choose Bermuda? A three-night stay in Bermuda will make the newly weds honeymoon dreams come true. You can give them the gift of enjoyment in a faraway beach with provisions for the best entertainment and great cuisine. They can rent motorbikes and spend the day touring the island at their leisure.

Budget Bachelorette Party: How About a Holistic Skin Care Party?

We all know how budget is tight nowadays so everyone wants to save up. Unfortunately, life goes on, and with it comes necessary events that we just have to celebrate. One of these events is the bachelorette party when a single lady says goodbye to being single. Her friends gather around her as they celebrate her jump from one status to another. Some opt to use naughty pranks and girly trips to night clubs to celebrate, while others simply stay home and eat a hearty dinner together.

Some recommendations for a quaint, budget-friendly and memorable bachelorette party include a spa make over party… and a Holistic Skin Care party!

The difference between these two types of parties is obvious. In the former, you may use store-bought cosmetic products, while in the latter, you have to use only natural ingredients to pamper the bride to be and her friends during the party. You might have to hire a few aromatherapy specialists to pull this off, but you can cut your costs by asking the guests to bring their own scented oils and herbs.

What are the natural flowers and fruits that you can use during your holistic skin care party?

1. Violets – The flowers and leaves can be crushed and massaged on skin. The extracts have been known to promote smooth skin by getting rid of dirt that cause blackhead problems.

2. Avocado Fruits – These can be crushed and applied on the face as natural exfoliants. The feeling is icky and cold, but the effects are astounding.

3. Oatmeal-honey treatment – The oatmeal will absorb oil, while the honey will smoothen the skin. It’s like dessert for your skin, and I can assure you that everyone will love it.

4. Coconut oil - This smoothens stretch marks, so if you’ve been dieting like crazy to fit inside your wedding finery, you must have this item in your grocery list at all times.

5. Castor Oils - Great for wrinkles! You can use this sparingly around the eye area. Be careful that you don’t apply any near the eye, and make sure you don’t have allergic reactions to castor oil before you apply.
