Me personally, I would love the IRS to create a easy and fast full double entry bookkeeping system that is on the web. It would ask you questions while entering inventory, capital expenditures and anything else that will be asked on a tax form. So far Account Edge is almost great but a little to expensive. But the biggest coviet with an IRS bookkeeping system, Feb 1st, you can press the button that is called "File Taxes". It can ask missing questions perhaps, but after that, your taxes are done in 5 minutes.

Charge for payroll assistance. 1 free bank connection, then charge for additional.

Quickbooks - A little more expensive, a very high learning curve, you have to buy higher tier to get just the basic things done.

Account Edge - A Very good bookkeeping system, easy to use, however, they are falling behind, not online but a monthly charge. The reason I left, it cost double for customers to pay online. You can't use any prossesor only their credit card processing. Nothing AI, not to much automation, bank account connections extra, extra employee use, extra, but everything else is all available.

Bear Lake Resort has new owners

Kahlscheuers take over local campground

After five generations of the Conroy family running Bear Lake Campground and Resort, the business has been sold to Bob and Sarah Kahlscheuer, effective Jan. 17.

The couple hails from the Menomonee Falls area, where they raised two sons.

Sarah was working in education, while Bob was working in manufacturing.

“We got to a point where we wanted to try something new and wanted a change in our life,” Bob said. “We always loved camping and joked about buying a campground one day.”

“Bob came home from work one day and said, ‘What would you think about really doing it?’” Sarah said. “I was like, whoa.”

Their search began last fall when they connected with a realtor that works with selling campgrounds in Wisconsin.

“We came and saw this one and it was such a beautiful campground with a gorgeous lake,” Sarah said. “There is such a sense of family and community here. They have built such a great business and you can tell when the people come in.”

“The people are just great,” Bob said. “They are willing to help and that is just the kind of people we are.”

Looking forward to spring

The Kahlscheuers are looking forward to camping season, warm weather and the campground being full.

“We want to continue the great tradition that the Conroys had: to continue to build the great history here,” Sarah said.

They do not plan for any immediate changes.

“Like Sarah said, they built a great business here, why would we change that,” Bob said. “We do plan on making improvements as we go along.”

This will include cleaning up the mini golf course, making some walking trails, adding to the park and offering a variety of activities.

For now they are busy getting set up and running the business.

“Joe and Bridget (Conroy-Bailey) and Ryan and Emily (Conroy) have been so helpful and willing to make the transition smooth,” Sarah said. “They are very committed to making sure this stays a great place and sharing their wealth of knowledge.”

The Kahlscheuers encourage everyone to visit.

“The bar is open and we’re serving food on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday right now,” Sarah said. “We are hoping to add those Friday fish fries back in soon.”

“We are slowly building our menu back up and Joe is working with our new cook,” Bob said.

The couple is excited about their new adventure.

“We are family people,” Sarah said. “The history you find here you cannot get in a lot of campgrounds. The story is impressive.”

“People like feeling that they are a part of something,” Bob said. “If we can just keep that going, they will be a part of our story and the history moving forward.”

Conroy family celebrates campground's centennial

The Conroy family is celebrating its 100-year anniversary of running a family business.

It all started in 1857 when Dennis Conroy and his brother-in-law James Carew were given some land as part of the Homestead Act.

“As part of that agreement, they had to make improvements,” said 91-year-old Bob Conroy. “And that is just what they did. Once improvements were made. they were given the title.”

People leased parts of the land to build cottages, while the Conroys built some of their own to rent out to people visiting the area.

On July 4, 1919, Bear Lake Resort opened its doors for the first time.

“Back then it was just a pop stand and dance hall,” said Bob. “It was owned by my father Ralph and grandfather Henry.”

According to Bob, his father had talked his grandfather into building the facility after World War II.

“Dance halls were going up all over the place,” he said. “People started pestering them to do something here. And thank God he did.”

With Prohibition preventing the sale of alcohol, the facility was used mainly as a dance hall.

“Friday night was our night for dances,” said Bob. “And we filled in on other days when nothing else was going on. I loved dancing and I was pretty good then, but I cannot dance much anymore.”

Bear Lake Resort once had an ice cream stand that stood where the Tiki Hut stands today.

“It opened in 1957 and lasted until 1976,” said Bob. “They sold ice cream, popcorn, sandwiches, some groceries, ice, nuts and burgers for 10 cents. They even had a juke box and pinball machine.”

Campground added

In 1959, a campground was added to the facility.

At one point, the county highway ran through the campground, but it became too dangerous and was closed in 1973.

Bob and his brother Pat took over the bar from their father Ralph in 1948-76.

Bob and his wife Mary later operated the facility.

“I guess you could say it was an accident of birth,” laughed Bob. “I grew up here. I just drifted into running the business. I was 20 at the time. Pat was 22. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Over the years, he saw the building used for boxing, archery, roller-skating, bingo and more.

He also saw his nieces and nephews get baptized, married or hold their wedding receptions there.

“There is a lot of history in these walls,” he said. “There are not many family businesses are like that.”

There have been a lot of changes through the years.

Fifth generation

Today, Bear Lake Resort and Campground is owned and operated by the fifth generation of the Conroy family – Joe and Bridget Conroy-Bailey and Ryan and Emily Conroy.

The campground was purchased in 1996 from their parents, Pat and Joan.

Bob and Mary operated the resort until 2001.

“We know nothing else,” said Ryan. “We, too, have grown up here. During my childhood, I had the bestback yard of anyone –the world’s best playground.”

“It was a part of us,” added Bridget. “I think we always knew this was something that we would do one day.”

The campground has 166 sites with 30 amp power and water, a camp store, kayak and paddle boats, mini golf, a playground, laundry mat, flush toilets and showers, lakefront camp sites, a beach and more.

The bar has been renovated over the past years, and the Tiki Hut is a summer hot spot for people visiting the facility.

Creating memories

“We’re the center of the universe, a little slice of heaven,” said Bridget. “We want out guests to be creating memories here with their families, just like we have.”

“The lake is a great lake,” added Ryan. “You have to drive three hours north of here to have what we have here. We want our guests to come here, relax and just get away from everything.”

“And our trees re amazing,” said Bob. “It preserves that rustic look that we have always had.”

Hard work, long hours and treating people right have been the keys to their success.

“You cannot just sit back and wait for people to come,” said Bridget. “If you have an empty weekend, you need to fill it with something.”

They seems to have it all from vintage camping weekends to live music and the Snodeo.

“We try to do a little of everything to keep people coming back for more,” she said.

They also host numerous fundraising events throughout the year.

“Our community supports us, and we have to support them,” said Bridget. “Everyone knows everybody, and we have to help each other out.”

Their hope for the future is simply to keep getting bigger and stronger and to stay busy.

“We are thankful that our family didn’t choose to be farmers,” laughed Bridget. “That would have not lasted a minute for us.”

Floods and drought

Every summer, cities across the country experience major flooding, and many of these events result in billions of dollars in damage. Instead of treating floodwater solely as a disaster that needs to be removed, we should look at ways to capture, redirect, store, and reuse that water.

There are two potential solutions that could be explored.

First, improve flood-control infrastructure in coastal cities. Cities located near the ocean could invest in significantly upgraded stormwater and sewer systems, including high-capacity pumping stations. During major storms and flooding events, these systems could rapidly move excess water away from vulnerable neighborhoods and into the ocean, where environmentally appropriate. This would require proper treatment and environmental safeguards, but the goal would be to prevent floodwater from sitting in streets and damaging homes, businesses, roads, and infrastructure.

Second, find ways to transport and reuse excess floodwater in drought-stricken areas. Rather than allowing enormous amounts of freshwater to simply run off into the ocean, some of that water could potentially be captured and transported to areas experiencing severe drought.

One option would be to use tanker trucks to transport captured water to areas where it could provide an immediate benefit. During major flooding events, tanker trucks could be loaded with water at designated collection points and transported to drought-affected regions. The water could potentially be used for firefighting, emergency water supplies, agricultural purposes where appropriate, or other beneficial uses.

A larger-scale solution could involve using rail infrastructure to transport significantly greater volumes of water. Trains equipped with specialized water tanks could move captured water over long distances and deliver it to areas experiencing drought or active wildfires.

The water could potentially be used to support firefighting operations, replenish reservoirs, recharge suitable waterways, restore dry creek beds, or provide water for other carefully managed environmental purposes.

This approach could potentially address several problems at once: reducing flood damage, making better use of excess water, helping drought-stricken communities, and providing additional resources for fighting wildfires.

Of course, not all floodwater is suitable for immediate reuse. Contamination, environmental impacts, transportation costs, water rights, and the energy required to move large quantities of water would all need to be carefully evaluated. But with increasingly extreme weather events, it is worth asking whether we should be doing more to capture and beneficially reuse water that currently causes billions of dollars in damage.

Instead of thinking of floods and droughts as completely separate problems, we should start looking at whether better infrastructure could connect the two—capturing excess water when and where we have too much of it, and putting it to productive use when and where we need it most.

Start making water tanker cars; they would look like oil tanker cars but for water not causing any environmental contamination if using oil tanker cars.

Fires each and every year out in California mountains costing billions

Every year, California spends more than $2 billion fighting and recovering from wildfires. There may be an opportunity to dramatically reduce these costs by investing in strategically placed water-cannon systems throughout high-risk areas.

These water cannons could be installed around mountains, hillsides, neighborhoods, and other wildfire-prone locations. When a fire starts—whether caused by nature or human activity—the systems could be activated immediately to begin soaking the surrounding area and slowing the fire’s spread.

Firefighters, emergency personnel, and potentially trained residents could then direct the water cannons toward an advancing fire, surrounding vegetation, homes, and especially rooflines. Pre-wetting structures and the immediate area could help reduce the risk of homes igniting from flames and airborne embers while firefighters work to contain the fire.

California could also strengthen building codes in high-risk wildfire zones. For example, new construction and roof replacements could be required to use non-combustible or fire-resistant roofing materials rather than standard shingles that can ignite when exposed to burning embers. Additional requirements could include fire-resistant exterior materials, defensible space around homes, and other measures designed to prevent fires from spreading from one property to another.

Rather than continuing to spend billions primarily responding to wildfires after they become catastrophic, California should invest more heavily in prevention and rapid-response infrastructure. A combination of strategically placed water-cannon systems, fire-resistant building requirements, and improved emergency response could potentially save lives, protect communities, and significantly reduce the economic damage caused by wildfires.

The state of California is right on an Ocean; it can't run out of water.

TL;DR: Wildfires are becoming more severe and frequent, driven by climate change and expanding development in wildland-urban areas. The costs go far beyond property damage, affecting public health, labor markets, and housing. In 2025, fires in Los Angeles may have caused up to $164 billion in losses. Smoke exposure has led to thousands of premature deaths and billions in health-related expenses. It also reduces earnings and employment, with disproportionate impacts on older workers and communities of color. Forest management and air quality monitoring, including tools like Clarity's air quality sensors and OpenMap, help reduce these long-term costs.

Severe wildfires are increasing significantly due to climate change. Wildfire seasons are growing longer and posing a greater threat, even to areas traditionally deemed safe. Dry, hot climates fuel the flames while human settlements near wildland areas face heightened danger.

Severe wildfires harm people, ecosystems, and infrastructure. They also contribute to global warming; in 2021 alone, wildfires released a total of 1.8 billion tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Another major consideration for wildfires is their financial impact. Wildfires can incur a hefty financial toll. For instance, the LA fires that hit in early 2025 may have caused as much as $164 billion in total property and capital losses. Fires have both overt and unexpected costs, impacting people, communities, and economies for many years to come.

Property damage costs

Property damage is one of the most direct consequences of wildfires. Severe wildfires send homes and businesses up in flames. The January 2025 LA fires, for example, destroyed more than 16,000 structures.

The expansion of Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) areas throughout the United States is intensifying this risk. WUI areas are places where developed lands meet with wildland. Houses in the WUI are more likely to come up against wildfires. The number of people living in WUI areas roughly doubled between 1990 and 2010.

Wildfire property damage also leads to consequences for the local housing market. Houses exposed to natural disasters are likely to decrease in value and see increased insurance premiums. Fortunately, these house values may not stay lower in the long term, especially when surrounding housing markets also rise in price, but it may take years to recover.

Nearby regions may experience a short-term increase in rental unit demand. This, combined with a reduced housing supply, makes housing less affordable in surrounding areas. For instance, asking rents jumped to nearly 40% in Sonoma County after the Tubbs fire in 2017.

Firefighting costs

Governments spend a significant amount of money fighting fires when they are actively burning. It can cost more than $9,000 to outfit a single firefighter. In 2022 alone, the federal government spent over $4 billion fighting wildfires. Looking at the past five years in the United States, the Forest Service and DOI agencies spent a total of $2,989,051,200 on average each year in fire suppression costs.

Not only can wildfires burn you, but they also produce smoke, which is a significant threat to human health. Wildfire smoke contains many harmful compounds, such as carbon monoxide, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), black carbon, and particulate matter. WUI area wildfires can even scatter asbestos, lead, and arsenic into the air from burning buildings and cars.

Fine particulate matter (PM2.5), which refers to liquid or solid compounds in the air 2.5 micrometers in diameter or smaller, is an especially harmful component of wildfire smoke.

Wildfire smoke can lead to eye and respiratory tract irritation, as well as exacerbation of asthma and heart failure. It can cause premature death. The fine particulate matter produced in wildfires can cause coughing, difficulty breathing, reduced lung function, and pulmonary inflammation.

People with preexisting conditions, children, pregnant individuals, and the elderly may see an increased risk of adverse health effects from wildfire smoke. People of low socio-economic status and outdoor workers may face greater risk and increased exposure.

In the United States from 2006 to 2020, fine particulate matter from wildfire smoke led to approximately 15,000 deaths and a cumulative economic burden of $160 billion. California wildfires in 2018 alone caused $7.8 billion in estimated health costs in the Bay Area. Every year, the premature mortality cost of PM2.5 from wildfire smoke may be approximately $8 billion to $31 billion in the United States.

Labor market costs

Wildfires and wildfire air pollution damage the labor market. Fires may destroy workplaces, limit access to job sites, and create hazardous travel conditions. Smoke exposure decreases employment and participation in the labor force. Following the January 2025 LA fires, fewer workers received paychecks, and individuals spent less time working compared to the same time last year.

A day of wildfire smoke reduces quarterly per capita earnings by $5.20, or roughly 0.10 percent. Between 2007 and 2019, wildfire smoke reduced earnings in the U.S. by an average of $125 billion per year. This is nearly 2 percent of the U.S. annual labor income.

Increased fire exposure tends to depress employment growth for about three years following the initial event. However, aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency mitigates these effects. Diverse economies with more educated workforces also tend to be more resilient to wildfire impacts.

These labor market impacts may not affect everyone equally. A variety of sectors experience wildfire damage, including crop production, manufacturing, health care, utilities, and real estate. Wildfires reduce earnings for people of all ages, but the impact is worse among older workers. Notably, declines in earnings are roughly 60 percent greater in counties with populations that have an above-median proportion of African American residents.

How much are wildfires costing in 2026?

It is difficult to determine exactly how much this season’s wildfires will cost because it is still ongoing. However, we can make certain assumptions based on 2025 data and 2026 wildfires that have already occurred. Here are some 2026 wildfire costs & outlook statistics:

Worldwide insured losses from wildfires reached at least $54 billion in 2025, a conservative estimate that does not include all indirect losses from health expenses and missed work days.
Around the world, economic losses linked to wildfires have increased by roughly $170 million annually since 1970.
The total burned area for the US in May this year was 90% above the average for what would be expected when compared to averages from 2012 - 2025.
The four largest fires in Colorado alone this summer could cost taxpayers about $266 million.
As of July 27th, 2026, 42,379 fires have burned more than 4 million acres across the U.S. this year.

Wildfire resilience strategies

In addition to fighting climate change, there are other ways to reduce severe wildfires and prevent the high costs they incur. One major reduction strategy includes ecological forest management. Healthy, properly managed forests are likely to be far more resilient to larger-scale forest fires. For instance, controlled burns can prevent foliage buildup that would fuel a larger uncontained fire.

Ecological forest management is far less expensive than the high costs of firefighting and fire-related damage. One organization that recognizes this is Blue Forest, which builds partnerships and secures funding for critical forest restoration projects.

ATLANTA -- A man sentenced to 15 years in prison after giving his son the gun he used in a deadly high school shooting in Georgia has requested a new trial.

Colin Gray was convicted earlier this year of second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter. In a court filing Wednesday, his attorneys argued the jury's guilty verdict is not supported by the evidence and is “contrary to law and the principles of justice and equity.”

Two students and two teachers were killed in the Sept. 4, 2024 shooting at Apalachee High School in Georgia. His son, Colt Gray, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Colin Gray is one of a handful of American parents who have been criminally charged after their children were accused in shootings.

Prosecutors said Colin Gray gave his son the semiautomatic rifle as a Christmas gift along with ammunition, and other shooting accessories.

A jury in March found Colin Gray guilty of second-degree murder in the deaths of two 14-year-old students, Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo. Georgia law defines second-degree murder as causing the death of a child by committing the crime of cruelty to children. Gray was also found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the killings of teachers Richard Aspinwall, 39, and Cristina Irimie, 53.

The high school is 45 miles (70 kilometers) northeast of Atlanta.

Gas line leak causes evacuation at Krystal's Restaurant,

2307 Plant Ave, Waycross, Ga 31501

The call came in, visible flames coming from the broken gas line, however, a minute later, the call updated fire was out, with no smoke, and no flames.

All persons were evacuated from Krystals and the attached Circle K. Police blocked the exits and fire personnel came in and inspected the kitchen area, the fire suppression system kicked in, and the gas was turned off before the fire dept even arrived.

Within about 7 minutes police and fire left the scene. No estimated cost of damage at this time.

I had a massive heart attack so I have some insight here.
Pizza caused it. just an extremely poor diet. Nothing natural to speak of. No vegetables. And way too much meat. And generally overeating and not working.
I was on the younger side when I had mine. So I survived. Barely. My youth actually contributed to me not getting timely treatment either as Doctors assumed you can't get one at my age in my late 20s. Many years ago.

The passing out and stuff could’ve been from the blood flow issues ( A Fib. an example - Even stomach area problems can cause A-fib, as many things connect to the Aorta).

Or if they gave him a shot of Morphine, which is known to dramatically dilate blood vessels and cause people to pass out. They had no choice because wherever the blockage is, if say from a blood clot or plaque buildup they have to cover all bases, and the only way to quickly get blood flowing, is the Morphine. On a side note, no I did not “get high”. And I was not in a lot of pain so I can't say if that alleviated any. But it did relieve the pressure on my chess from the heart attack; enough.
When lying down the Morphine made it very difficult for me to sit up;
and near to passing out whenever I tried.
My body just felt heavy. And this effect lasted a while making me bedridden.

Maybe it can cause some people to lose enough blood pressure to pass out.
This is just a side effect of Morphine which can be dangerous on its own.
A necessary intervention regardless.

Painful? The answer depends. The actor John Ritter, had an aorta split. Which caused part of the lining I forget exactly where to peel and cause a block. This happened on set while filming. Painful enough to cause vomiting. He relayed the pain from the hospital to witnesses if I recall.
He died as a result. Because the doctors simply didn't realize the cause in time.

The kind I got was a block from platelets and fatty deposits etc.
The pressure feeling is true, and shortness of breath follows if it progresses.

For example, a clot around the lung area, or leading to the heart from that region, created a pressure sensation and was not painful, but was very uncomfortable, and very unsettling because the self-awareness of whats going on. The discomfort comes from the feeling of not getting the oxygen needed to prevent damage to the heart and or brain, and the failure that results. So the heavy breathing trying to catch your breath. There was also a steady dull pointed pain around the site of the obstruction.

You will never be the same after a heart attack. And never as strong nor virile as you were before.
Even with all my effort, and even physical pushing myself in bicycling
I was never able to recover my former strength. I get winded easily and cannot even keep up with people much older than me.

Once part of the heart dies, its not going to propel you like it once did.
But you can recover enough to lead an okay rest of your life with limitations.

I would say your best bet to avoid this, especially as you get into your 20’s because the bad habits actually started young with my family feeding me crap. I would say go on a strict Vegetarian diet.

That's the only way to reverse future problems and stabilize existing ones.
Walk often. If you have heart issues like this don’t do running.
I would even say don’t jog. Just walk often.

Never forget the feeling of that heart attack and what it means, because if you deviate from your diet once, forget it, you will quickly be back where you were and worse. For people who think, they are invincible and carless now,
I would say start early in taking my advice.

Ingredients

For the Cauliflower:

1 head cauliflower

1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil

2 teaspoons mustard powder

2 teaspoons smoked paprika

Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper

For the Honey Mustard:

1/4 cup yellow mustard

Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper

1 tablespoon stone-ground mustard

1 tablespoon honey

For the Sandwich Build:

4 tablespoons salted butter, at room temperature

8 slices sourdough bread

8 ounces butterkase or gruyere cheese, shredded

2 pears, thinly sliced

Directions

Roast the cauliflower: Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Cut off the cauliflower stem, then place the head cut-side down and slice into 1/2-inch-thick steaks. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, mustard powder, paprika and some salt and pepper. Brush the cauliflower steaks with the spiced oil. Place them flat on a baking sheet and roast for 10 minutes. Carefully flip the cauliflower, return to the oven and roast until golden, another 10 to 12 minutes.
Meanwhile, make the honey mustard: In a small bowl, mix together the yellow mustard, stone-ground mustard and honey. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside.
For the sandwich build: Melt 2 tablespoons butter on a griddle over medium-low heat. Spread some honey mustard on 4 pieces of bread; top each with some cheese, roasted cauliflower, sliced pears, more cheese and another piece of bread. Place 2 sandwiches on the griddle and cover with a metal bowl. Cook until golden and crisp on the outside and gooey in the middle, 4 to 5 minutes per side. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons butter to the griddle and repeat with the remaining sandwiches. Serve with the remaining honey mustard.

New Castle to be featured on PBS Western Reserve show

The City of New Castle will be featured in the next season of a PBS documentary series.

A screening of “City Centric” on PBS Western Reserve will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 13 at the New Castle Public Library as part of a celebration of the building’s new elevator. On TV, the half-hour episode will air at 8:30 p.m. Sept. 13 and at 1:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sept. 14. The PBS station can be found on WYFX-LD 19, WFMJ 21, WKBN 27, WYTV 33, WNEO 45 and WEAO 49.

You usually don’t want to save it onto the same device you are using incase of hacking, fire, theft or other events that now you don’t have your device any more. Here is what you should do if you can afford it or not, is buy a thumb drive or another hard drive and make that your back up drive. You just copy the folder on your desk top and drop the folder on to the new drive.

You should do your backups once a week. Now that you are safe and if your computer was hacked, there is one last option if you don’t want to pay the hacker is to restore your pc to fresh settings. You though now have to restore all your programs and your backup data is just at your fingertips. If you are local and don’t want to do all that, we can do that for you for $24. He drove back and apologized and yet they yelled at him, calling him names, and then posted it online to get sympathy for the car dealership. Boy did that backfire. The internet did the opposite. The internet people of the world called the dealership and gave them a piece of their mind. The dealership personnel got so scared they called the police for help. People stopped coming to the dealership and they have gone out of business for now. I am sure they will pop up in another location under a new name. Another concerned person started a GoFundMe account for the pizza delivery guy that got stiffed the $7 and has reached up to $22,000.

If you took her, her name is Lily, please bring her back. She has medical issues and issues with her back legs. It was uncalled for for you to pull into my yard and take her. Asteroid 99942 Apophis is a near-Earth object (NEO) estimated to be about 1,100 feet (335 meters) across.

When it was discovered in 2004, Apophis was identified as one of the most hazardous asteroids that could impact Earth. But that impact assessment changed after astronomers tracked Apophis, and its orbit became better determined....

Apophis quickly gained notoriety as an asteroid that could pose a serious threat to Earth when astronomers predicted that it would come uncomfortably close in 2029. Thanks to additional observations of Apophis, the risk of an impact in 2029 was later ruled out, as was the potential impact risk posed by another close approach in 2036. Until March 2021, however, a small chance of impact in 2068 still remained.

A red giant star and white dwarf orbit each other in this animation of a nova similar to T Coronae Borealis. The red giant is a large sphere in shades of red, orange, and white, with the side facing the white dwarf the lightest shades. The white dwarf is hidden in a bright glow of white and yellows, which represent an accretion disk around the star. A stream of material, shown as a diffuse cloud of red, flows from the red giant to the white dwarf. When the red giant moves behind the white dwarf, a nova explosion on the white dwarf ignites, creating a ball of ejected nova material shown in pale orange. After the fog of material clears, a small white spot remains, indicating that the white dwarf has survived the explosion.

In its second weekend, the Marvel Studios blockbuster starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman continued to steamroll through movie theaters, collecting $97 million according to studio estimates Sunday. That raised its two-week total to $395.6 million, pushing it past the long-reigning top R-rated feature, “The Passion of the Christ,” which held that mark for 20 years with $370 million domestic.

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Comscore. Final domestic figures will be released Monday.

Concert attendees included Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce (both of whom joined Wallen on stage) and Chris Jones.

New Wawa Location Planned for Southeast Georgia

The gas station and convenience store company plans to open a total of 26 stores in southern and coastal Georgia over the next several years.

Another Wawa is proposed for the Peach State.

The gas station is planned for 1725 Memorial Drive in Waycross, according to construction plans. It would include 16 fueling spaces and a 5,537-square-foot convenience store.

Active investigation: The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office was called to Crescent Beach Wednesday to detonate a mysterious balloon package that landed on the shore. The yellow balloon tied to a white styrofoam box was found just north of the Cubbedge Road beach access.

Grades are in: Here’s how many ‘A’ schools are in Northeast Florida districts

The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) released the school grades for the 2023-24 school year, and they show that Florida schools continue to show improvement over last year.

In 2024, nearly 1,300 schools earned an “A” grade, a 6% increase over 2023.

Florida’s charter schools also saw improvements. Of the 602 charter schools with a grade in 2024, 69% received an “A” or “B” in 2024.

We visited Zirkle Dam which was built in 1918. Noah, Mark, and I visited Zirkle Landing, and we saw the Little Satilla River. We saw wooden pylons in the Little Satilla River. Zirkle Landing is located in Pierce County on Highway 32, right over the county line of Brantley and Pierce Counties. If you want to find the over 100 year old Zirkle dam, it is located on Zirkle Road off Highway 32. When you travel down Zirkle Road, the first road on the right will take you to the dam.
