I've been lurking this blog for the past 2 weeks when I stumble a story about a cebuano fotog who got sick with BigC -- i'm hoping that soon he'll be OK and lived a normal life again with his wife. Then I began to read his wife's blog and the stories touched me especially that I'm a mom to a 3-year-old sipat na bata :).

Then read about this entry and yes.. this is so true.. so enjoy and read on.

This was our life - those born in the 1950's, 60's 70's and 80's!! (children take note and read...)

First, some of us survived being born to mothers who did not have an OB-Gyne and drank San Miguel Beer while they carried us.

While pregnant, they took cold or cough medicine, ate isaw, and didn't worry about diabetes.

Then after all that trauma, our baby cribs were made of hard wood covered with lead-based paints, pati na yung walker natin, matigas na kahoy din at wala pang gulong.

We had no soft cushy cribs that play music, no disposable diapers (lampin lang), and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, no kneepads , sometimes wala pang preno yung bisikleta.

As children, we would ride in hot un-airconditioned buses with wooden seats (yung JD bus na pula), or cars with no airconditioning & no seat belts (ngayon lahat may aircon na)

Riding on the back of a carabao on a breezy summer day was considered a treat. (ngayon hindi na nakakakita ng kalabaw ang mga bata)

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle purchased from 711 ( minsan straight from the faucet or poso)

We shared one soft drink bottle with four of our friends, and NO ONE actually died from this. Or contacted hepatitis.

We ate rice with star margarine, drank raw eggs straight from the shell, and drank sofdrinks with real sugar in it (hindi diet coke), but we weren't sick or overweight kasi nga......WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, and get back when the streetlights came on. Sarap mag patintero, tumbang preso , habulan at taguan.

No one was able to reach us all day ( di uso ang cellphone , walang beepers ) . And yes, we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our wooden trolleys (yung bearing ang gulong) or plywood slides out of scraps and then ride down the street , only to find out we forgot the brakes! After hitting the sidewalk or falling into a canal (seweage channel) a few times, we learned to solve the problem ourselves with our bare & dirty hands .

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 100 channels on cable, no DVD movies, no surround stereo, no IPOD's, no cell phones, no computers, no Internet, no chat rooms, and no Facebook ...... ...WE HAD REAL FRIENDS and we went outside to actually talk and play with them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no stupid lawsuits from these accidents. The only rubbing we get is from our friends with the words..masakit ba ? pero pag galit yung kalaro mo,,,,ang sasabihin sa iyo..beh buti nga !

We played marbles (jolens) in the dirt , washed our hands just a little and ate dirty ice cream & fish balls. we were not afraid of getting germs in our stomachs.

We had to live with homemade guns ' gawa sa kahoy, tinali ng rubberband , sumpit , tirador at kung ano ano pa na puedeng makasakitan. .pero masaya pa rin ang lahat.

We made up games with sticks ( syatong ), and cans ( tumbang preso )and although we were told they were dangerous, wala naman tayong binulag o napatay.paminsan minsan may nabubukulan lang.

We walked, rode bikes, or took tricycles to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just yelled for them to jump out the window!

Mini basketball teams had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't pass had to learn to deal with the disappointment. Wala yang mga childhood depression at damaged self esteem ek-ek na yan. Ang pikon, talo.

Ang magulang ay nandoon lang para tignan kung ayos lang ang mga bata, hindi para makialam at makipag-away sa ibang parents.

That generation of ours has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers, creative thinkers and successful professionals ever! They are the CEO's, Engineers, Doctors and Military Generals of today.

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had failure, success, and responsibility. We learned from our mistakes the hard way.

You might want to share this with others who've had the luck to grow up as real kids. We were lucky indeed.

And if you like, forward it to your kids too, so they will know how brave their parents were.

It kind of makes you wanna go out and climb a tree, doesn't it?!

For Philippines call center agents, you may always hear these questions at work. How many calls have you received today? You would probably say, “I have taken a lot of calls than anyone on the team”. But the next question is, “how good were you in handling those calls?” Now, this must be the challenge.

Whether an inbound or outbound call center agent, it is a fact that you deal with customers and providing quality customer service is always one of the company goals. But as an agent, you must also have to keep in mind that you have a target sale to achieve as part of your responsibility. But how do these quality and quantity really works. American Idol Season 10's First episode

AI Season 10 is here.. wooohooooo i like, i like --

i started watching AI since 2007, i know, i know I'm a late bloomer and since then year after year I wait and watch for the next season and part of it is to jot down my top bet list from auditions to finals.

As Season 10 starts auditioning in NJ, 51 hopefuls went through and i have 10 names with me now for my list but 4 of them moved me and made me drop some tears. Among the 4, I love the most the story of Melinda Ademi who came to US whose family were war refugee while Travis Orlando lives in a craziest place in New York, Bronx.

A Japanese national auditioned, Yuji Asano a.k.a Yuji Pop -- he was really funny. There's one who didn't make it through fell down in the stairs. I always love the bloopers they have in AI.

Happy New Year!! It's been a while I haven't posted anything here. It's 2011 and its time to blog from time to time. :)

I usually take PUJ every morning from 44E to 12L to 14D/06B/07D that's my usual route. And make it to a point to sit between to ladies to more secured, you know nman it's hard to commute nowadays. By doing so, I came across with lots of things. Some are some kinda gross just like what happened earlier on my way to the office. A girl sat on my left side since someone already seated on my right. She's pretty, long hair, nice eyelash and well groomed BUT when I glanced on her hair -- BANG --- she got LICE.. kalerky.. super minus.. makabuang man ni oi..

For the past few weeks my life was like a carousel. I can say that this is one hell of a ride, one of my darkest nights. People in my past is making it hard - really, really hard for me to moved on.

I hope you guys are happy doing these things to me. All i know i have not done anything wrong to you but if i did - i'm sincerely sorry for it. But can you tell me what have i done wrong to you? coz until now im super clueless.

Also, I want to move on with another chapter of my life. I'm worried on how to bring food to my son's mouth.

Final 2 in American Idol Season 9

For the past 2 years I've been hoooked up watching this reality tv show. I always have my bets during audition to the top 12 down to top 3. Bets always been in the top 3 but never been the American Idol. Now, watching season 9, two of the best bets i have were now be fighting for the crown.

Crystal was my first choice but now i'm betting for Lee to be the next American Idol for this season. wwooohhoo...

As per results for the top 3 performance last night, Lee declared safe first. Crystal is next. And, of course Casey James is going home tonight. He sang "Daugther" last night but didn't sing it well or maybe its just not his spot to be in the top 2. but geezzz being in the top 3 is something that he should be proud of. I know everything had happen to them are surreal.

Goodluck to Crystal and Lee on the next round. Finals next week -- cant wait!!

6 Mistakes to Avoid on Email Subject Lines

If you are a online employee, site owner, SEO/SEM or blog a lot, you probably need to contact people via email all the time. On some occasions you will also be the one starting the conversation and looking for a reply. Like, you might want to offer a guest article for a particular blog, or you might want to propose a business partnership to someone. Unless you craft your email messages smartly, though, there are good chances that the other person won’t even read them. Spam filters are the first obstacle, but even if your message goes though the other person might just delete it.

The subject line is probably the most important part of your message, and in this post I wanted to cover six mistakes that I see people making:

1. Creating one word subject lines

Have you ever received an email with the subject line “Hi”? If you have, you know how annoying it is. One word subject lines are terrible because they fail to communicate what the email is about, where it is coming from and the like (more on that later). Additionally, they might also reveal laziness or carelessness from the sender’s part, which might lead the receiver to ignore the email.

2. Making requests

People want to receive, not to give. If your subject line makes a request right away, the receiver will be less likely to open it. Examples include link exchange requests, voting requests and so on. A better approach to get the conversation going is to start by offering something.

3. Using spammy keywords

Using spammy keywords in your subject line is a no-no. Even if you get lucky and the spam filter does not block your message, there are good chances that the receiver will tag your message as spam as soon as he reads the subject line. Here is a short list of words to give you an idea of what should be avoided:

* free
* money
* win
* degree
* gift
* deal
* sign-up
* survey

4. Begging for attention

Using “Please Read This” as your subject line will not help convincing the receiver to open your email. Quite the opposite. The same is true for using words like “urgent,” “important” and similar.

5. Making it sound too good to be true

Real business or joint venture opportunities usually come from people you already have a relationship with. If you are going to email someone for the first time, therefore, avoiding using these terms, else you might be seen as a scammer.

6. Making it look like an automated message

If your subject like looks like an automated message from a website or online service, well, people will assume it indeed is. Just take a look at the automated messages you receive and avoid crafting your subject lines in the same fashion. One example is the “Invitation to…” subject line. Usually those come from social networks, and people tend to ignore them.

By now you might be asking yourself: “OK I understand the mistakes I need to avoid, but how should I craft a good subject line then?” For me a good email subject line should have two elements: a relevancy hook (i.e., a keyword that will assure the receiver that the email message is indeed for him, like his name or the name of his website) and a brief description of the content of the email (because even if the receiver knows your message is a legitimate one, he might not read it immediately or at all unless he knows what it is about).
