Hello, my name is Buff and I am an Edward/Bella shipper. Okay, addict. There I said it.

Unabashedly so, I have never denied the fact that the draw of their relationship is what sunk me so deep into Twilight and what keeps me hungry for fan fiction today. I also won't deny the fact that while there are tons of wonderful stories out there - sometimes I wonder if it's not more from the thrill of experiencing those two damned love birds in any way, shape, or form, and not so much the stories that I fall in love with. Reading them in a variety of precarious, preferably angsty, roles just to see if they can withstand the test is thrilling, I'll admit. Sometimes even devastating, yet I always find myself coming back for more.

However, on occasion, I stumble upon a story that truly blows me away. Not just because it's a new and exciting adventure for the pair to confront, but because it's a good story. One that, in my opinion, could stand alone with any name applied to the protagonists. (gasp! I know. Although I do love the name Bella. And Edward. And the names Bella and Edward coupled together are rather lovely, but that's beside the point.)

A Quiet Fire, for me, has been one of these rare gems. I started reading before I went to bed two nights ago, and after a day full of family, spring break fun yesterday I hungrily finished last night. Or caught up rather, as it's still a wip. There are currently 30 chapters, and from her a/n it looks like there aren't many more left.

The story starts out with a prologue that's set in Bella's present at somewhat of a tipping point in her life, for what reasons you only get a gentle glimpse at in this first chapter. The following six, or so chapters delve into her past seamlessly, taking us through the young Bella's early journey. I loved the way she did this, because it supplies a small taste of things to come, and then filters in her back story so that you can't help but hurt for this Bella. By the time she brings us back to the present, you're in deep.

The story in itself is heartbreaking, almost suffocating in its desolate nature. Poor Bella has lost everything, and your heart pulls so deeply for things to get better, only for them to get startlingly worse. I won't give anything away, but I was truly shocked by a turn the story takes - in a good way. I think sometimes things need to happen in a story, and while it ripped my heart out, its one of the things that makes this great.

Despite all of that, this Bella is smart, and has a strength beyond her own comprehension. Another plus to the story is Rosalie. This is perhaps the most likable Rose I've ever read, and I was glad she was written that way. Bella needs it.

Something I loved is that Magnolia uses Bella's experiences from her past as flashes of memories in the present, and unlike other stories where I've seen this done, you're reliving it with her. Usually I've seen this used as a way to supply information, relate things we don't know about a character, but Magnolia uses this to punctuate moments, and it really adds to the impact of how Bella is feeling and what she is going through.

One moment in particular where she does this is in one of the last few chapters. It's a passage about Bella and Edward's first kiss which appears a few times throughout the story. Where I might typically find this repetitive, I found it perfect in the way she executed it. The last time it's done I teared up fiercely because it's such a culminating point. Then Bella has the memory - a memory you lived through with her, and you can just feel everything she is feeling.

This story deals with heavy subjects, but I love that, so you won't find me complaining. Admittedly, I think I might be the last one to this party, as it has well over 5k reviews. However, I adored it so much I thought it definitely worth the rec. So if you have been living under a rock like me, and haven't had the opportunity to read it, then ... well, what are you waiting for?

Last Thursday I had the great pleasure of interviewing TheHeartofLife, author of The Long Way Home and A Player to be Named Later. I had previously reviewed her story, TLWH, on the My Precious Fandom blog, having fallen in love with it the minute I began to read. Her writing technique is sophisticated and flowing, sucking you into the story.

So, Buff and I asked her if we could have an interview, get into her mind a little. We had a great time talking, discussing her stories and our opinions of the Twilight series. I found that she's a real sweetheart and very easy to talk to.

Here is a peek at our interview:

katbug86.ff: First off, thank you for talking to us.

theheartoflifeisgood1: Of course! Thanks so much for interviewing me.

katbug86.ff: I loved reading The Long Way Home

theheartoflifeisgood1: Aww, thank you! I miss writing it.

katbug86.ff: When I first began reading, I honestly thought it was a Bella story, right up until the end of chapter one.

buff82.ff :)

theheartoflifeisgood1: You're probably not the only one, to be honest. :)

katbug86.ff: I was so surprised by how attached I became to Rosalie's character after the first chapter that I had to keep reading.

theheartoflifeisgood1: I actually think not calling out the pairing helped me in that respect. People went in not knowing exactly what to expect.

katbug86.ff: That was exactly what drew me in, so you were right. What made you decide to write a Rosalie story?

theheartoflifeisgood1: And I'm sure there was drop-off when people realized it wasn't an ExB story, but I think there were some that latched on.

katbug86.ff: I believe I mentioned it in my reviews, but yours is the only non-Bella story I've read.

theheartoflifeisgood1: I get that a lot! Regarding why I wrote Rosalie... I wrote a short canon piece of her and Edward for the first round of The Twilight 25 and actually, the one-shot I did, The Corner Of Your Heart, was supposed to be a short piece for TT25 as well. But when I heard about the Indies' First Time Writer's Challenge, I decided to save the story for that. I was brand-new to the fandom in terms of writing (I'd been reading fic for about six months) , so I thought the contest would be a good way for me to get my feet wet, so to speak. I'm not sure what it was, but there was something about Rosalie's story in Corner that made me want to explore it further. I had a lot of encouragement to continue it from my friends and especially from hmonster4.

katbug86.ff: You did a terrific job

theheartoflifeisgood1: Thank you! I was really blown away by the response to Corner. Especially since it was a non-canon pairing, and a non-canon pairing that I think is really polarizing to readers.

katbug86.ff: I can understand that, being a non-canon writer, myself.

theheartoflifeisgood1: Right! It's definitely a niche market, so to speak. But I also found that the readers who seek out secondary characters and non-canon pairings tend to be really passionate, which is great.

katbug86.ff: I think it was nice getting into Rosalie's head, but while you still made her the tough girl we know her to be, you also showed another side of her. Did you have the story planned out from the beginning? I mean, did you always plan for her to end up with Emmett?

theheartoflifeisgood1: I definitely tried to show her complexities. She's a lot more multi-faceted than a lot of people give her credit for. I had a general outline from the beginning. And, yes, I planned for her to end up with Emmett.

katbug86.ff: I have to say, through the first half of the story, a good part of me was hoping for Edward and her to get together - something I would never typically want.

theheartoflifeisgood1: The story definitely took its own path as I continued writing, though. The general plot was what I imagined and planned for, but some of the specific scenes and sub-plots popped up as I was writing.

katbug86.ff: Like Emmet and Bella's private conversations?

theheartoflifeisgood1: I heard that a lot! I had some readers that were legitimately devastated when Edward ended up marrying Bella. :) Yeah, that was one of the things that kind of cropped up once I got a few chapters in. In the series, I saw Emmett and Bella's relationship as having that easy closeness that I tried to show in TLWH. I saw her as a kind of natural shoulder to lean on for him.

katbug86.ff: I think that's exactly how it came across. Do you plan to write any outtakes or anything for TLWH?

theheartoflifeisgood1: I've actually written a few outtakes that I've just never published.

katbug86.ff: oh?

theheartoflifeisgood1: And someone bought an outtake for Fandom Gives Back, so eventually something will be published. We're still deciding on what the outtake will go over. :)

katbug86.ff: I have a feeling I'll be on the look out eventually then.

theheartoflifeisgood1: I love and hate outtakes. I almost don't want to post one because I feel like I left it in the exact place I wanted to. But at the same time, I think it's nice for people to get a glimpse into the story from another person's perspective or point of view, or to see moments that were alluded to but not talked about extensively in the actual story.

katbug86.ff: Not to go all fan-girl here, but I'd love to see Emmett's take on Rose's absence since he obviously had feelings for her while knowing she had feelings for someone else.

theheartoflifeisgood1: That would be really fun for me to write, actually. I mean, I know how Emmett felt on a general level, but being able to get into his brain (well, my brain in a different way) would be really different. Sometimes I think I know where I'm going with something - a thought, a plot line, whatever - and the character goes in a completely different direction. Which sounds totally crazy.

katbug86.ff: not at all, I definitely won't argue with you on exploring Emmett's mind!

theheartoflifeisgood1: Ha! I have snippets of things from his point of view. I have snippets of things from Bella's, too. Sometimes I wrote little drabbles to get myself in the right frame of mind when I was writing the actual story.

katbug86.ff: But I get it, I've written before where you start out a chapter with a general idea, and then by the end you wonder where you went astray. I think it makes for a better writing experience. Now, are you working on something new?

theheartoflifeisgood1: I'm working on a novella with hmonster4 right now for Fandom Gives Back. It's going to be 13 chapters long and we've just posted chapter 7, so we're about halfway through the process. It's a lot of fun collaborating with someone else, getting to bounce ideas off of each other and respond to what the other person is writing.

katbug86.ff: I saw from your profile that it's another Rosalie/Emmett story?

theheartoflifeisgood1: It is!

katbug86.ff: Can you tell me a little about it?

theheartoflifeisgood1: Definitely. I'm writing from Rosalie's perspective (in third person) and hmonster4 is writing from Emmett's. We wrote another story called Down & Across this summer where we did the same thing.

katbug86.ff: oh, yes, I saw that one, and I have plans to read it soon

theheartoflifeisgood1: It's fluffy and a super-quick read. We wrote it for AccioBourbon and it was a blast. :)

katbug86.ff: Do you have a beta?

theheartoflifeisgood1: Yes, when I'm not collaborating with hmonster, she's my beta. She is pretty much what keeps me sane during the process. :)

katbug86.ff: I can understand that as well. Buff is my beta, and she's pretty awesome at keeping me sane.

buff82.ff: or making her crazy, meh, either way. What drew you into the Twilight series?

katbug86.ff: baha, I was typing that same question

buff82.ff: I know *evil grin*

theheartoflifeisgood1: Oh, and LightStarDusting betas our collabs. She pre-read for me through the entire TLWH process. I had such a supportive group of friends behind me for it.

theheartoflifeisgood1: haha! you guys have brainmeld, too. :) i think that's a writer-beta thing

katbug86.ff: quite often, yes

theheartoflifeisgood1: It's such an intense process, isn't it? If I don't talk to hmonster every day, I get weird and twitchy.

buff82.ff: lol, yeah you become rather dependent, in a good way

theheartoflifeisgood1: So, I think it was two years ago now when I overheard my co-workers talking about this vampire series.

theheartoflifeisgood1: And one of my co-workers was like, "you HAVE to read this." I resisted for the longest time because I really had no desire to read about vampires. Not my genre.

katbug86.ff: interesting

theheartoflifeisgood1: Anyway, they finally wore me down and I went and got Twilight.

katbug86.ff: So you read the books first?

theheartoflifeisgood1: And then I devoured it in a matter of twenty-four hours.

theheartoflifeisgood1: Oh yeah, this was before the movie came out

katbug86.ff: ah, ok

buff82.ff: And that was the day you were re-born?

theheartoflifeisgood1: it was after the movie had been cast, so I knew about Robert Pattinson and stuff.

buff82.ff: into this crazy crazy world

theheartoflifeisgood1: DUDE. It was like the craziest thing. I literally stood outside of Borders the next morning, waiting for it to open so I could get New Moon and Eclipse. I mean, I didn't even recognize myself.

buff82.ff: lmao. I didn't sleep for three days

theheartoflifeisgood1: It's seriously a sickness

buff82.ff: hardly spoke to my hubs and kids

buff82.ff: yes

katbug86.ff: I didn't leave the house for a week when I read the books

theheartoflifeisgood1: My co-workers and I had round-table discussions. They totally rubbed it in my face.

katbug86.ff: are they the ones who introduced you to fanfic?

theheartoflifeisgood1: No no. I don't even know if they know what it is. They definitely don't know I write it!

katbug86.ff: haha

buff82.ff: You were looking for sex weren't you?

katbug86.ff: so how did you stumble into the crazy world that is fanfic?

katbug86.ff: oh my ... just jump into the questions

theheartoflifeisgood1: Well, I didn't even know what fanfic was before Twilight.

buff82.ff: I mean between Edward and Bella that is ;)

theheartoflifeisgood1: And yes, by Eclipse I was like, "when are they going to do it?! JESUS."

katbug86.ff: I think we all were wondering the same thing.

theheartoflifeisgood1: So, I think I discovered fanfic through ONTD_Twatlight.

buff82.ff: What was the first fanfic you read?

katbug86.ff: I've never heard of that

theheartoflifeisgood1: It's a community that was Twilight-centric, but very tongue-in-cheek.

katbug86.ff: more importantly, what Team are you on ...? haha.

theheartoflifeisgood1: Well, Team Emmett first and foremost. ;) If we're talking about Twi guys.

katbug86.ff: ah, I was going to guess that ...

theheartoflifeisgood1: But Edward versus Jacob? Edward.

buff82.ff: BAHAHAHA

theheartoflifeisgood1: and I was totally an Edward girl while I read the series

katbug86.ff: Buff is happy

buff82.ff: :D :D

theheartoflifeisgood1: By Eclipse, I hated Jacob. I thought he was a douchebag.

buff82.ff: I like you, you're smart

katbug86.ff: *covers ears*

theheartoflifeisgood1: I thought Bella was a douchebag too, though, to be fair.

buff82.ff: YES

katbug86.ff: agreed

theheartoflifeisgood1: Edward was the one that pissed me off the least.

katbug86.ff: I had the opposite opinion of that ... I felt he was a control freak

theheartoflifeisgood1: Oh, he totally is. I mean, cutting her brakes so she couldn't go anywhere? Yikes.

katbug86.ff: That one upset me

buff82.ff: yeah, that was a bit much

katbug86.ff: that's when I began to resent reading about him.

theheartoflifeisgood1: It's funny, I can hardly remember what's canon and fic anymore. I'm struggling to remember what exactly happened.

katbug86.ff: you aren't alone

buff82.ff: I know, we talk about that all the time

katbug86.ff: Buff and I often comment that we can't keep it all straight anymore

theheartoflifeisgood1: Right, like fanfic is canon nowadays.

theheartoflifeisgood1: I have a feeling if I went back and read the books, I'd not even recognize the characters.

buff82.ff: I told Kat I can't fathom writing another AU story b/c I can't remember what's canon anymore

theheartoflifeisgood1: Right!

katbug86.ff: What are your thoughts/opinions on Breaking Dawn?

theheartoflifeisgood1: I hated it.

buff82.ff: Jacob loves babies

katbug86.ff: ew

theheartoflifeisgood1: I was like, who are these characters? What did Edward do with his balls?

katbug86.ff: Jacob loves uteruses, not babies.

buff82.ff: lol

katbug86.ff: lmao

theheartoflifeisgood1: The baby thing threw me for a loop. I had to put the book down when Jacob imprinted on Renesmee. I actually had to put the book down when they named her Renesmee.

katbug86.ff: I pretend she doesn't exist. In fact, I often forget she does.

buff82.ff: So how would you have fnished out the series?

theheartoflifeisgood1: Well, you know. The thing that bothered me most about Breaking Dawn was that she really didn't sacrifice anything. And the whole series was about Edward telling her, "think about everything you'll have to sacrifice to be with me, think carefully about this decision, are you sure, are you sure?"

buff82.ff: Bella got everythingshe wanted plus a baby

katbug86.ff: The whole book played out a bit too PG. Everything she wanted, no sacrifices, no real battle ...

theheartoflifeisgood1: and then at the end of the day, she gets a child, she gets to see Charlie after she's turned and maintain some sort of relationship with him, she's absolved of her guilt over Jacob, and she's the perfect vampire.

buff82.ff: not very realistic ... oh, wait...

theheartoflifeisgood1: And the battle scene at the end was super weak.

buff82.ff: OH GOSH. I have no clue how they're gonna do that in the movie

theheartoflifeisgood1: I mean, I anticipated death. I was prepared for it.

buff82.ff: yes, it was the ultimate in anticlimactic

theheartoflifeisgood1: It's going to look like some sort of campfire! Let's sit down and talk about our feelings and roast marshmallows over Irina's ashes while we're at it.

buff82.ff: lol

theheartoflifeisgood1: It really, really was. It took me a good few hours to absorb what I'd read. And I was like, am I the only one who feels this way? Did I read it wrong or something?

katbug86.ff: I've never heard it described that way, but you have a point.

theheartoflifeisgood1: But obviously once I went back to the interwebs, I saw that I wasn't alone.

buff82.ff: The problem was SM wrapped it up with an awkward yet pretty bow

theheartoflifeisgood1: Exactly. And that's what I have an issue with, whether it's in a book or in fic.

buff82.ff: for someone who was willing to rip Bella's heart out in NM she really dropped the ball in the end

katbug86.ff: yes, I bawled through NM

theheartoflifeisgood1: She did. And I think she ended it how SHE wanted to end it, not in the way that was best for the series or for the characters.

buff82.ff: yes I agree

theheartoflifeisgood1: Oh, I had friends who skipped the entire part with Jacob.

buff82.ff: in BD?

katbug86.ff: tsk tsk

theheartoflifeisgood1: No, in New Moon. I was like, you're missing entire plot points.

katbug86.ff: That was my fav part.

buff82.ff: yeah.

theheartoflifeisgood1: But that's how passionate people are about Edward, I guess, you know?

theheartoflifeisgood1: It's funny to see how that translates over into fic.

buff82.ff: I will admit I flew through it when I first read the series but the second time I read...

katbug86.ff: Am I the only Jacob lover here?

buff82.ff: KAT PLUG YOUR EARS AND COVER YOUR EYES

theheartoflifeisgood1: I think you have more patience for it the second time because you know where she ends up.

katbug86.ff: I know!! You;ll are hating!

theheartoflifeisgood1: I don't hate Jacob, but I don't like how SMeyer portrayed him.

buff82.ff: the second time I read I kind of felt bad for Jacob, and did end up liking him a bit more *it's on record Buff, I'm never letting you live this down ... you LIKE Jacob, bahaha** Well, Kat, I requested this be stricken from the record.. and .. er.. contest that I ever actually said it, you typed it after the fact. Yeah, that's it.

theheartoflifeisgood1: He had moments of goodness. And, to be fair, he was young. Young kids in love are punks. But he was a major punk.

theheartoflifeisgood1: Hmm, good question. I'm reading very little these days, which is horrible.

theheartoflifeisgood1: There's a story I'm pre-reading for that I'm totally in love with. It's two chapters in so far, but I'm privy to its direction and I can't wait to read more

katbug86.ff: That's always a privilege. Who's the author?

theheartoflifeisgood1: It's called Something Blue - Emmett and Rosalie, told from Em's POV throughout and I just love him.

katbug86.ff: oh fun

katbug86.ff: collabs are nice bc you get to read the balance between two authors

theheartoflifeisgood1: There's another story called Inconceivable that I love, by AccioBourbon. Also EmxRo. Accio's writing is exquisite and the story is beautiful.

theheartoflifeisgood1: Yes, they work so well together. The story is fabulous so far.

buff82.ff: If you could be any one character in the Twilight books (canon character)who would it be and why?

katbug86.ff: ooo, good question

theheartoflifeisgood1: Oh, that IS a good question.

theheartoflifeisgood1: I think I'd be Emmett, to be honest.

katbug86.ff: He's probably the best character in the book imo.

theheartoflifeisgood1: I couldn't agree more. :)

katbug86.ff: Happy, carefree, adorable, doesn't get all emotional like everyone else.

theheartoflifeisgood1: Right. The thing I think people don't always realize about Emmett is that he actually is a complex character.

katbug86.ff: I've noticed that he's stereotyped often as an oaf

theheartoflifeisgood1: Yes, which is so untrue. I think he and Rosalie got the shaft when it came to being stereotyped in the series.

katbug86.ff: I agree

theheartoflifeisgood1: They were both seen through the eyes of unreliable narrators, so the reader glommed onto what Bella and, by extension, Edward thought of them

buff82.ff: well, just knowing Rose's backstory makes her so much more than she appears

theheartoflifeisgood1: Exactly! Hearing her story in Eclipse totally changed my perception of her.I think SMeyer could have made her a much more sympathetic character, but she only skimmed the surface.

katbug86.ff: I don't like reading stories where she is portrayed as superficial.

katbug86.ff: same with Leah, I don't like her being made as the bitchy, bitter girl

theheartoflifeisgood1: I don't either. I mean, she can be tough or bitchy or whatever, but she needs to be more than that too.

theheartoflifeisgood1: Oh, I hate what SMeyer did to Leah. And I hate when she's a bitter harpy in fic, too.

buff82.ff: I really thought she would end up with Jake for awhile

katbug86.ff: better than the half-breed

buff82: yes

theheartoflifeisgood1: WhatsMyNomDePlume actually described Rosalie perfectly once - she called her a coconut. She's tough/hard on the outside and soft on the inside. I totally see her like that. Her attitude/coldness is a shield to protect just anyone from seeing how vulnerable she is. She has to trust them before they see that inner layer.

theheartoflifeisgood1: I really wanted Leah to end up with Jake. I was pissed that that didn't happen because I thought SMeyer alluded to it pretty heavily.

theheartoflifeisgood1: Hmonster was with me from the very beginning and really mentored me through this process. I trusted her implicitly to tell me what worked and what didn't with my writing.

katbug86.ff: Have you ever considering writing a pairing other than R/Em? If so, which pairing? And do you mainly read R/Em pairings when you do read?

theheartoflifeisgood1: I also think it's important to really just put yourself out there. Just go for it. I was so nervous to post my writing, but I've gotten amazing feedback and have really grown so much in my confidence from being able to share my work.

theheartoflifeisgood1: Oh, I am totally open to writing other pairings. I'll read anything, write anything. I'm an open book. I think Rosalie, at this point, is my comfort zone. I understand her character and how she ticks, which makes her my go-to.

katbug86.ff: having a comfort zone is not a bad thing.

buff82.ff: Do you have any RL friends or family who are aware of your fanfic writing?

theheartoflifeisgood1: But I do read everything.

theheartoflifeisgood1: My husband is aware of it. And I was totally outed by my mom and grandma to my entire extended family.Thanks, Grandma. None of my friends know about it, though. I wouldn't even know how to broach the subject and I'm sure they'd never let me live it down.

buff82.ff: what draws you into a story? when reading

theheartoflifeisgood1: Realistic characters and storylines. I like fics where the character grows from beginning to end

katbug86.ff: I can agree with that

buff82.ff: Does it turn you off when there are grammar errors?

theheartoflifeisgood1: And I'm kind of a sucker for angst, so that will draw me in. I don't want it to be contrived, though.

theheartoflifeisgood1: Very much so. I get super distracted by them. No matter how good the story is, if it's riddled with mistakes I can't read it. It just pulls me out of the story.

katbug86.ff: hehe, you're thinking of my ocd, aren't you Buff?

theheartoflifeisgood1: I never asked for reviews when I was writing TLWH, but I appreciate them like crazy. It's always validating to hear that what you're writing is resonating with people or that you've touched some emotion in some way.

buff82.ff: I agree

theheartoflifeisgood1: The reason I don't read much is because I leave the most insane reviews - like, super long, I quote passages - so it takes me a really long time to get through a story. I think it's an important part of the whole writer/reader process, but I don't think it's "owed" by any means. Well, I feel like you form a connection with readers who do review regularly.

katbug86.ff: I think that makes you the perfect reviewer.

theheartoflifeisgood1: I totally lucked out with my reviewers. I was looking back at my reviews for TLWH today and just the thought that people put into them is mind-blowing. I remember during one of the more climactic chapters, I got so many reviews where people said they cried and I was like, "...holy shit." Like, I never would have expected people to get as emotionally involved as they did. That was stunning to me, in the best way.

katbug86.ff: Do you think you'll write another story on your own?

theheartoflifeisgood1: I know that I'll always write. Whether I do it here or just for my own pleasure? I'm not sure yet. I've got a few half-written things that I'm playing around with, though.

katbug86.ff: I'm sure it'll be amazing either way

Kat and I were very honored with how many submissions we got for our Under the Mistletoe contest. Each one was so fun to read, and I want to thank you all again for your participation - even the voters!! We had an awesome turn-out in voting, so pat yourselves on the back - you all did marvelously!

Our 1st place winner was SydneyAlice, who has authored 18 stories for Twilight fanfiction. When I pulled up her profile to see exactly what I would be writing for this highlight, I was impressed to say the least. I chose to read her newest story I Thee Wed, and was drawn in immediately.

I do. baha. No but really, helllooo lickable Edward.

Wedding planner Bella Swan is hired to plan the wedding of the year. What happens when she breaks the cardinal rule of wedding planning and falls for the groom? "I don't want to be a choice your heart has to make. I want to be your heart's only option."

Each chapter opens with a list of 80's songs that pertain to the mood of the chapter, or are mentioned within the chapter. I love this because I love 80's music, she had me at In Your Eyes *le sigh*. I Thee Wed is refreshing in that it holds true to our beloved Bella/Edward characteristics, but takes it in a different direction, and I found the storyline to be very original. It is only a mere seven chapters in, so naturally there are more questions than answers at this point, but it is worth the wait - and SydneyAlice a faithful updater!

Though angsty in its uncertainty with how Edward and Bella will end up, the story still maintains a light and heart-warming feel. And - hello, this Edward quotes Dirty Dancing. *dies* You feel for these two in their dilemma, you want it to work. I highly recommend spending a little time catching up, you will be happy you did!! Besides, the Alice/Bella dynamic is reason enough, Ali is feisty and funny and their interactions are the best.

I flinched. "Thanks for the reminder, Ali."

Alice was instantly apologetic. "I'm sorry, that was way out of line. I just love you, and I want to see you happy again."

"I know you do," I whispered. "I love you, too. But truly, Alice. There's no one out there for me."

"I just don't believe that," Alice murmured softly. "People are meant to go through life two by two. 'Tain't natural to be lonesome."

I knew she was being serious, but I couldn't help but giggle.

"Did you actually say 'taint?"

Alice rolled her eyes. "That's a beautiful, meaningful quotation from one of America's finest playwrights, and you're bitching about his grammar?"

"This is a ridiculous conversation, and I'm leaving."

Say I do! to I Thee Wed, you'll be happily ever after that you did!

(see what I did there? I know, the cleverness is endless.)

For this post I had a chance to 'sit down' with SydneyAlice recently and pick her brain. (The virtual world is rather cozy for sit downs, no? By that I mean we g-chatted, yay technology!) I asked her a few of my own questions as well as some things readers wanted to know, enjoy!! [Warning: spoiler alert!! There are a few spoilers for her o/s What Child is This if you have not yet read it - go do that!]

Buff: Hello!

Sydney: hey

Buff: First off, can I just say I love your blog, very pretty.

Sydney: oh thank you. I cant take any credit for it though
I picked the design but wayward girl takes care of it for me

Buff: awesome, it looks great!

Sydney: Thanks!

Buff: What would you like me to call you, is Alice okay?

Sydney: It doesn't matter. SydneyAlice isn't my real name at all lol

Buff: lol that was my next question

Sydney: haha

Buff: So then you appreciate the anonymity the way I do?

Sydney: It's sort of necessary for me

Buff: I wanted to ask you a few questions about What Child is This first since it was our first place winner.

Sydney: Sounds good. I was so excited

Buff: I loved the story by the way - very touching.

Sydney: Thank you!

Buff: How did you come up with the concept?

Sydney: It was Christmas Eve and I was just in a sentimental mood. I had been wanting to write a Christmas one-shot but couldn't really think of something original. Then I was watching some Christmas program on television where a man goes back in time to see what he left behind (very It's a Wonderful Life), and I thought that might be an angle to explore, but that seemed kind of easy to do from Edward's POV

So, instead, I decided to do it from a child's POV

and during the course of writing I considered the possibility that it could be their child

and it went from there

Buff: wow, so you wrote it all in one night?

Sydney: oh yes, all in one sitting
it took me about three hours

Buff: impressive

Sydney: that's how I write
I rarely take more than a day to write anything

Buff: I loved how it was very easy to accept that Edward was being visited by his deceased son; it wasn’t overly explained. Did you intend it to be that way?

Sydney: Yes, I wanted to give the readers enough hints to make the connection without just spelling it out and making it obvious. I still had some reviewers ask if Anthony was real or imagined

Buff: I think it was very well done, just enough information.

Sydney: Thank you

Buff: Obviously there are some classic Christmas story undertones in your one shot, as you mentioned It's a Wonderful Life, were you pulling directly from any others? For example, peeking in the window reminded me of A Christmas Carol

Sydney: no, the peeking in the window was completely coincidence. I just wanted them to have the chance to look inside without coming face to face with those he left behind

Buff: How do you go about your writing, are you an outliner?

Sydney: I'm not an outliner. I make notes of characters, ages, occupations...but that's about it. When I start a story, I have a general idea of the beginning, middle, and ending. It's the details in the middle that I fill in along the way. I have a wonderful beta named Shaina who I constantly bounce ideas off of, and a prereader named KatMom who has been very encouraging.

Buff: I'm glad you mentioned that. Betas and pre-readers are very essential to a good story I have found, it helps the writing process exponentially. How did you find/choose yours?

Sydney: Shaina found me. She was a faithful reader, and she offered to beta if I ever needed one. She has an English degree, so I thought she'd help me keep my commas in check. I was such an ellipse whore, but she has broken me from that! lol. KatMom was also a reader and a friend I'd made while reading "Master of the Universe" by Snowqueens Icedragon. I asked her to pre-read another story of mine, and she's kept the job!

Buff: You have quite a bit of stories on your profile, how do you find time to write it all?!

Sydney: Many of them are one-shots, which I can write usually in a day. I write on days off (snow days lately) and weekends. I have a very messy house that I ignore!

I don't have kids, which helps, as well.

Buff: Do you ever suffer from writers block ?

Sydney: Sometimes I struggle with a chapter. I've learned that if I'll just walk away and come back, that usually takes care of it. I'm a really consistent updater, so I just make myself write through it until I'm happy

Buff: I have two reader questions for you

What is your fav. 80's song?

Sydney: oh gosh
That's so impossible to answer because I was a child of the 80s. I remember when Madonna was new!

Buff: lol

Sydney: lol I really wasn't into them

Buff: zomg, I was pathetically in love.
and I say pathetically for a reason.

Sydney: I will say that my favorite albums were Thriller, True Blue, the Top Gun soundtrack...

Buff: good choices

Do you have any idea how long I Thee Wed is going to be?

Sydney: I never have a clue how long stories are going to be. My general rule for a full length story is 20-30 chapters

Buff: What is your favorite character you’ve ever written?

Sydney: hmm
Probably Seth in "I Will Follow You Into the Dark"
I was ridiculously proud of the man he became in the epilogue

Buff: What kind of fan fiction are you drawn to? Do you like to be tortured with gut-wrenching angst, or are you a fluffy kinda gal?

Sydney: FF I like - I do like fluffy. I can handle some angst, but I like fluffy smut!

Buff: Do you have any current stories you’re fangirling over?

Sydney: I drop everything to read MotU II
There are a few others I love but they hardly ever update

Buff: Favorite novel?

Sydney: Breaking Dawn

Buff: Do you have any hidden talents?

Sydney: Not sure if it's hidden, but I like to play piano

Buff: Have you played for long?

Sydney: for about five years

Do you own a pair of fuchsia shoes?

Summary:

There was a girl. She loved a boy. And then she lost it all. Will her journey back to the place where it all began and ended light the path for forgiveness, or will it swallow her whole? A story about friendship, love and the true meaning of coming home.

I had saved this story to my "must read" list awhile back, honestly thinking it was a Bella and Edward story after simply reading the summary. Imagine my surprise after reading the first chapter that it was, in fact, a Rosalie story. Now, I'll be the first to admit I've NEVER read a non-Bella story prior to this one. They've never really interested me, but there was something about TheHeartOfLife's writing style that kept me going. I grew attached to Rosalie's character, suddenly undertanding her on a whole new level.

The story opens up to an adorable Rosalie and Edward as children, showing how their friendship first began. Not unlike many of our friendships, I'm sure:

She sniffed and said, "Your head looks like it's on fire."

His hand flew to his hair and he flattened his palms over it, trying hard to hide it from her.

"You're stupid!" he shouted, his voice infused with all the passion that his five-year-old heart could muster. He watched in fascination as the girl's nostrils flared and her eyes grew large. She looked a little bit like a monster he had read about in one of his new books last night.

"You're stupid!" she bellowed. "And you have cooties!"

"I do not!"

"Do too!"

Of course they developed as friends the only way they knew how, by insulting each other. The second chapter, however, picks up 20 years later, and things are not quite as we expect. We find that Rosalie and Edward are not the best life-long friends that we imagined. Instead, they're not even on speaking terms, and Rosalie is surprised to find that her former bestie is about to be married - in four days.

This is where I start to feel a certain, My Best Friend's Wedding kind of vibe. Granted, I loved that movie, so it's very much a good thing. The whole, girl loves boy, boy loves - well, the other girl, and you're stuck in limbo trying to not to drown in feelings of rejection. Here's a little peek at what happens when Edward and Rosalie are reunited:

"You were going to do this without telling me," I stated. I tried to keep the tremor out of my voice but I couldn't hide it. I couldn't hide the pain of what he had done to me, of what we had done to each other. It stood between us like an invisible divide.

"I – I don't know. No," he fumbled over his words, stepping closer. I moved further back, hitting the fridge door.

"I'm sure you can imagine my surprise when Alice called me yesterday and said you were getting married," I replied. "This Saturday, Edward. That's four days from now, and you're going to stand there and tell me that you weren't going to get married without telling me? Bullshit."

He balked, his gaze narrowing. "Rosalie, I -"

"You what?" I interrupted, the anger exploding inside of me, pushing through my lungs and out of my mouth. It propelled me forward, closer to him. My pointed finger hit his chest. "I'd love to hear you talk your way out of this, Edward. I'd love to know how you thought it'd be okay to get fucking married and leave me in the dark. How you thought it'd be okay to ask Alice to lie to me for the past five months, for Jasper to, for Emmett."

His eyes flashed with a mixture of pain and anger. "Christ, I had my reasons, you know I did. Don't you remember what you said to me?"

I remembered everything about that night. It was burned into my memory, hot and painful. "Don't say it."

Things definitely aren't all sunshine and roses. No worries, though, things aren't always so heated and angry in this story. And while some of you may already be running away from this in fear that it's some sort of Edward and Rosalie love story where Edward leaves Bella at the alter, you can just forget it. This story is all about Rosalie and HER journey, not some love triangle gone crazy. I can say, for just the briefest of moments, I actually wanted Edward to dump Bella and run off with Rose. There, I said it, now go hate on someone else. If it helps, I quickly got over that insane theory.

The ending that TheHeartOfLife creates is ten times better than anything I could've imagined, and even better, it's believable. The transitions between the characters and their relationships are written seemlessly. Some of you may see it coming, some of you may not, but I can't wait to read what is to come. I have a new-found sympathy for Rosalie, a new view on Bella and Edward's relationship, and I can never resist reading about a playful and loving Emmett; he's just too cute for words.

Fandom for Preemies

The Fandom is a community that I am proud to be a part of. We've raised money for children's cancer research, a lot of you helped me just a couple weeks ago raise money for Parkinson's disease, and now a new and very worthy cause is in need of support. I'm sure most, if not all, of you have heard of The March of Dimes and all the wonderful things it has done for these miracles babies. What most of you don't know is that my son was premature, and if it weren't for the funding for organizations such as The March of Dimes, things may have been a lot worse than what they were. I will be contributing a one-shot, and I hope that if you are able, you will too. Please read the message below, written by the lovely Ayden Morgen, and find out a way you can help.

Fandom for Preemies

Preterm birth is a serious problem affecting children across the world. Every year, over 13 million children are born prematurely. Over 1 million of these children will not survive this year. 1 in 10 of those who do will face life-long health complications and risks directly associated with their preterm birth, including serious complications such as cerebral palsy.

The reality is frightening, but thanks to the work of the March of Dimes, it is not hopeless!

During Prematurity Awareness Month this November, the Fandom for Preemies fundraiser will help raise funds to support the March of Dimes (via the March of Dimes Virtual Band) as they work to eliminate preterm birth and infant mortality across the world. The March of Dimes is the world's largest nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health. In 2009 alone, they contributed over 20.3 million dollars to eliminate preterm birth, birth defects and infant mortality across the globe. Many of the strides and medical advancements that have been made in combating preterm birth and prolonging the life of infants born too early have been made in thanks to the work and research of the March of Dimes and its global partners.

As the parents, aunts and siblings of premature infants, we would like to do our part to aid in this fight and would like to encourage you to join us.

We are currently seeking fanfiction authors across the fandom to contribute to this cause. Authors may sign up to contribute outtakes, one-shots or original works of fiction between September 1st, 2010 and October 21st, 2010. What is written is entirely up to the author. Our only request is that contributions not include rape, incest or abuse. All contributions must be emailed to fandomforpreemies@gmail.com on or before October 21st, 2010 for inclusion. New on Foxy Fics: "We Surpassed Our Goal!"

The Foxy Fics fundraiser came to a close yesterday, surpassing our inital goal of $1000. With the help and support of many wonderful people, we managed to raise $1054.64 in just two weeks. To the special person who so selflessly made hitting our goal happen, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. As I have said many times, there are no words and not enough thank you's in the world for me to truly show my gratitude.

To my authors, I am blessed that you would be so kind as to give a piece of yourself, in the form of your writing, to such a worthy cause. That simple act means everything, and I hope you will join me for Round 2. It was a pleasure reading your work and getting to know so many new people as we worked together on this fundraiser. Each of you are as much of a part of it as I am.

To the donators, I know that times can be tough and that to some $5 can means the difference between food or gas or just simply being able to say you have money in your pocket. Foxy Fics: Day 3

We are entering day three of open donations, and I am proud to say that we have already received an overwhelming amount of support, raising nearly $360 already. I am hopeful and optimistic that we will reach our $1000 goal by August 18th.

Our exclusive one-shots were finalized with a total of 22, written by 24 fantastic authors. I am honored that they were willing to take their time to write a piece of work for a cause that I am so very passionate about. Summary: Bella Swan's world is about to be turned upside down when she meets a strange boy named Bronze. His child-like attitude is just what she needs to step down off the pedestal she lives upon.

An End Has A Start blew the public vote out of the water by getting nearly 50% of all votes made. Her story, My Sweet Thing, was not only well written, but original and creative as well. From the not-so-typical Charles Swan, frontman of Swan Contruction, and his somewhat spoiled daughter, Isabella, to Bronze (aka, Edward Cullen), the white trash from the trailer park who claims to attend Bella's prestigious school. Either way, her characters are not like you've ever read them before and you'll do yourself a favor to read this fabulous one-shot!

Part of the prize for winning the public vote was for us to highlight the author and get the word out about their other stories. When we went to An End Has A Start's fan fic site we were astounded by not only how many fics she already had under her belt, but also by the overwhelming response she gets from all of her stories.

Because of time constraints we have not had the opportunity to read any of her 13 stories, but just from the summaries, trust that they are next on our list!! We urge you to go check out her profile and see what she's all about. From what we can tell, she seems like a really amazing girl!!

Judges Pick: The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty by Twilly

Summary: When an overnight rain cools things down, Edward heats things back up, claiming his sleeping beauty. A lemony, zero angst, fluff ball oneshot from the HEA of your choice, written for the My Precious Fandom Whose Line is it Anyway? contest. I used all seven of the prompts listed below, but I may or may not have nudged #2 just a bit to suit my proposes.

This story gets the honorable mention of Judges' pick. It is a light, funny, and sweet one-shot that keeps you smiling the whole way through. One of the things Twilly did so well, and what was really the point to this contest, was usage of the prompts. Not only did she use every one, but they flowed flawlessly into the the story. I loved the imagery she provided for this lazy morning between Edward and Bella, and the ending was completely precious.

Foxy Fics

For those of you who are not already aware, I am in the process of starting a fundraiser. It is in support of Parkinson's Research, helping the Michael J. Fox Foundation in the fight to find a cure. Last year my Father-in-law was diagnosed with Parkinson's and that diagnosis hit my family hard. Just last month we celebrated his 60th birthday, but it was while at that party that the idea for a fundraiser began.

With the help of several fellow authors whom I confessed my ideas to, they not only encouraged me, but helped me begin turning it into a reality. And before I knew it, Foxy Fics was created. So many have volunteered their killer writing skills to write a one-shot for a compliation that will be emailed to all who donate. My last count was 20 authors signed up! I'm amazed at the response I've received already and the fundraiser hasn't even started yet!

Anyway, for those who are interested in learning more, Foxy Fics has it's on blog page with lots of information about the fundraiser and about Parkinson's disease. I encourage you to check it out, the fundraiser kicks off August 4th. Minimum donations are $5 to receive the one-shot compliation. Reading 'Voice for Me' was a more personal experience than it may be for some. While I am not Deaf, nor do I know someone who is, I have had to use sign. When my youngest brother was born he was perfectly healthy, then as a toddler he suffered from a series of ear infections which resulted in several surgeries for his ears. By the time he began preschool, he'd already suffered minor hearing loss.

As a result, at the age of 11, I threw myself into learning sign. I unfortunately didn't get very far, only learning things simple enough to be self-taught from a library book, but I was able to teach myself enough to communicate his basic needs. This skill came in handy several years later when my son was born, his verbal delays creating a boundary between us. Without sign, I don't know what I would have done to communicate with both my brother and my son.

My brother is now 16 and my son is 6, and while both of them are able to hear, my brother does have permanent hearing damage to one ear. I know that my experience in NO WAY compares to those who are Deaf or have family who are Deaf, but I like to think it has made me more understanding. The fact that my brother came so close to losing his hearing makes me want to advocate for the very special people who have.

Learning sign had always intrigued me after that, so when I found 'Voice for Me' it was like a window into a world I had once been so passionate about. PachasPickMeUp is a penname for two incredible authors, KymClark and KylaPricky-- they are also sisters.

I spoke with KylaPricky about her reasonings behind writing 'Voice for Me' and found that together, they are writing this wonderful story from their personal experiences. KymClark and KylaPricky are the children of Deaf parents, letting everyone else into the world of Deaf Culture.

We get to experience this adventure through both the eyes of Bella, who in this story is Deaf and knows very little of the hearing world, and also from Edward, a boy in love with a girl who can't hear him and who knows nothing of being Deaf. Their story is a bumpy one, as they learn about each other and the world the other lives in; because while they might both be from Forks, WA, they are NOT from the same world.

It starts off with Bella getting ready for her first day of class at a hearing school, a place she has never been to before. Although Alice is a breath of fresh air on her first day, having been assigned as Bella's interpreter during school hours. But it just so happens that Alice's younger brother's, Emmett and Edward, attend Forks High also, and it's evident that even from the beginning, there is some sort of connection between Edward and Bella.

Our eyes locked. His glowing green eyes set my stomach on fire. I couldn't understand his reaction to me. Why did he seem so offended? Was he scared of me? No, he couldn't have been, not a strong man like that. Well what the hell does that look mean? The staring contest was intense. It did strange things to my body. I wanted to look away, but I couldn't. It's as if I was mesmerized. I raised my eyebrows at him, silently asking him what the hell was going on. He looked away quickly, let out a big breath and shook his head back and forth. What? Why does he look so bothered? He didn't have to give up his seat for me. That was by far the strangest encounter ever.

Edward, on the other hand, has a different view on Bella's behavior:

"What the hell is wrong with you guys?" I blurted out.

"Edward..." Oh shit, Dad used his "serious father voice," I better watch myself.

I looked around and everyone was glaring at me and then I made the mistake of looking into the wrong eyes. The big, brown, wrong eyes to look into.

She made a face like she was absolutely disgusted. Her eyebrows gnarled, her mouth open and those eyes were on fire. She pointed at me with her little pointer finger and signed to Alice. Oh, well she's a pointer too. Does she know no manners?

Don't let these little interactions fool you, this story is entirely about Bella and Bella discovering all there is to know about the other. Edward is eager to learn about Bella's life style and to be accepted despite all his mistakes when it comes to offending the very out-spoken (well, with her hands) Bella. On the other hand, Bella is trying to understand Edward and the life he lives. It's not always easy when it's a life so vastly different from the one she's grown up in.

She waved goodbye and as she turned out the door she threw me a sign. One I knew I had seen before, but for the life of me couldn't recall.

I don't think I've ever seen that sign from Bella either...

I looked to Alice and she was positively dripping with gush. Jazz shushed Alice teasingly and shook his head at her.

"What did Bella just sign to me." I asked.

Alice giggled and squeaked, "I love you."

Not everyone is as accepting as Edward and his family, however. Many people think that the Deaf are not their equals, that they are beneath them in some way because they cannot hear. Those who are not simple-minded know this not to be true. 'Voice for Me' will show you every side of a very touching story, winning over you heart with every chapter that you read.

I stumbled upon this glorious fic by accident in my twitter feed. The link led me to a trailer made for the story, which left me speechless and stunned. I HAD to read right then and there. (Trailer link below)

It starts off with a simple letter from Bella, one left behind for someone to find if they may. You can call it a cry for help, fate, or whatever you like, but the instant connection brought about from those simple words written and then found by Edward leave both their lives entirely changed.

Here are a couple excerpts from Bella's first letter:

Dear…Whoever happens upon this,

I don't know who you are, and I assume I never will. Actually I sort of hope we never meet as I'm about to whine away on this piece of lined paper for you to see.
You likely have already stopped reading, but I just feel the need to tell somebody, anybody really, the things that eat away at me day after day. Perhaps that will satisfy my overactive brain for a few minutes so I can at least get a few minutes of much needed sleep...
I am your average, plain, boring twenty two year old college student, who has yet to go on a date, or even kiss a boy. I don't blame it all on my inability to initiate things. That would be the coward's way out. The rest of that blame goes to the fact that I am simply uninteresting, and I assume unattractive, as I've never had the words 'you're pretty' uttered to me. That's right. Never once.
I'd like to find love someday. I want to find that spark, that magnetic pull that suspends time and gravity. I do. It just doesn't seem to be in my cards...

Bella has found a new friend in Edward, a caring, selfless, and utterly devoted stranger. But Edward has found the woman who has captured his heart, all before ever even meeting her. The letters are the best parts, always making me smile when I know I'm about to read another. Each word written moves me, speaks to me, and I'm sure it will do the same to you. Even in only eight chapters I'm undeniably hooked, craving the newest update.

This story, told entirely in Bella's POV, is what I call sweet. There's no drama like we find in other fics or drawn out angst. It's simply about the journey of Bella and Edward's friendship and eventually their relationship, how each of them heals the other, and both learn to open their hearts and love. It's not an easy battle, there are times of joy and times of tears. But, in the end, we realize that some loves are those that stand the test of times.

In the beginning we find Bella with a passion for her job, but passionless when it comes to finding a relationship. She's been heartbroken before, her trust in love shattered, and perhaps a bit closed off from the opposite sex. On the other hand, she's in love with what she does-- helping others adopt children, finding them that perfect home. Her dedication to doing what she does best-- her job-- is heartwarming to read.

I think this quote from Esme best sums up how we depict Bella's personality in the story: "There are people who are always grumbling because roses have thorns; I am thankful thorns have roses. So tell me lovely Isabella, which type of person are you?"

Then we have Edward, who is far more than what meets the eye. In high school Bella only saw him as Mr. Popular or another womanizing pretty face, but we know that he's so much more. His love for his son (yes, his son, because even before it's official that's what he is) shows in everything that he does.

"That's Ethan. I'm hoping to adopt him. I need your help Bella. He means more to me than the world." He swallowed hard and tears were brimming in his eyes. "I can't lose him. I just can't."

Aside from the tender moments throughout the story and, yes, even a few tissue alerts, there are also several moments of laughter. Mrs.Robward has an uncanny ability to use more witty analogies in one story than I've ever read before and each one is funnier than the last.

Our kisses never slowed. I felt his hands inching down to laze over my ass. I pulled my hips away from the wall and into him so he could get a better grip. This caused me to feel him even more! The joke 'is that a banana in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me', drifted through my mind and caused me to smirk.

But whether Bella and Edward are playing the role of lawyer and client, merely friends, or the loving couple of all time, their story is one you can't miss out on.

This is Not My Life by isakassees

Follow Bella as she tries to survive a madman's abduction and keep a stranger's child from succumbing to his wild fantasies, and follow Edward as he tries to stay sane searching for his daughter taken right before his eyes.

Katbug86: There are not many stories that have been able to keep me wanting to read so much that I lose sleep just so I can finish and get to the next chapter. However, once I started reading this one, I simply couldn't stop. I stayed up until 5am, only getting 3 hrs of sleep because I HAD to know what was going happen.

The story starts off with a prologue that will get your heart pounding, and then you're taken through the chance meeting of Edward and Bella-- knowing what's about to happen and wanting nothing more than to stop it. Isakassees' writing of Bella and Lily's time with James is suspenseful and well written, you get a feel for just how traumatizing the experience really is.

You'll also get a great view of Edward as a father and just how protective he is when it comes to his little girl. Besides, who doesn't love Daddyward? I also love how Lily's character was written. I've found that most authors do not know how to properly write a child into the story and have them seem age appropriate. Lily, on the other hand, is perfect. She's cute, sweet, adorable, and she just makes your heart melt. The interactions between Bella and Lily are what had me wanting more.

Later in the story you get to see Bella and Edward's relationship develop despite the circumstances in which they met. It's incredible to read how they come to be together, not because of what they went through, but in spite of it.

This story truely is one of a kind, and I highly recommend you go read it-- immediately.

Master of the Universe

Buff82: This story is among what I would consider one of the quintessential twilight fan fiction stories. In other words, if you like fan fiction then this should be one of your top 5. I was sucked in from the beginning, consumed by the complex relationship and rooting for them the whole way. One of the only fics (that I know of) to coin a non - ward nickname for Edward, Fifty has become near and dear to my heart. He is, in all sense of his nickname, fifty shades of fucked up.

The story is full of gut wrenching moments, that rip your heart out and serve it to you on a silver platter. In the same breath, there are more redeeming moments, more intimate and loving moments than I can count; Fifty can indeed be swoon worthy. Icy’s Bella is one of my favorites that I have ever read. She is strong willed, and for the most part, doesn’t waiver from what she wants. She is stubborn, yet level headed, but she does allow herself to get swept off her feet - which I think we should all allow, at least once in our lives. After 80 some odd chapters and over fifty thousand reviews, this story is finally complete. I highly recommend it, so go read - laugh, cry, punch your computer - love it.

Katbug86: I will fully admit to intially reading this story and thinking to myself, "I'm not sure I'm going to like this." Buff encouraged me to continue on, and I realized that I couldn't have been more wrong. Fifty, as Icy's version of Edward has been named, is charming with his smiles and caring nature towards Bella. But watch out, he can be rather terrifying with those twitchy palms of his. No matter what, he'll melt your heart, but at the same time you'll feel as if your heart is ready to beat its way out of your chest. Bella is strong, yet shy and sweet, and watching her fall in love with Fifty from day one of meeting him has been endearing. (Though I can say I am one-hundred-percent jealous of a fictional character)

I'm sure there are very few of you left who have not read this fic, but if you haven't: DO IT NOW!

After an 'epiphany' the day of her wedding to Edward, Bella is able to explore a romantic relationship with Jacob, at last, only to be given a warning that changes her future. She leaves, and returns years later to find things are not as expected...

Never Too Late

Where do I even start? This story OWNS me, there's no denying it. If I had to read one Jake story over and over, it would be this one. Both Buff82 and my husband would laugh at me when it updated because I'd immediately drop ANYTHING I was doing, rush to my computer, and anxiously read, trying to figure out what will happen next.

So much happens throughout the story. First Bella leaves Edward and runs off to stay with a friend, then we get to see the relationship she and Jacob might've had if Bella and Edward had never met. But just when you think all is well and perfect, disaster strikes and it's all taken away from her.

Things don't end there though, we get to continue reading how each character grows and matures with time (feeling like we're about to explode with anticipation for Bella and Jacob to just BE together already).

The thing I like best about this story was the new characters the author added in. I, for one, am not a fan of new characters, in fact I loathe them typically, but spiritmccinnamon has written so that they MAKE the story. Without them, it just wouldn't be the same, and it's as if they were always meant to be part of Twilgiht series.

Overall, with each chapter, I've laughed, I've cried, I've had my heart broken, and I've fallen in love. Never Too Late is well written and captivating, you'll feel everything your characters are feeling, something I know does not always happen with a story. Even if you're not Team Jake I suggest you read this, you might even find yourself hoping that Bella and Jacob end up together in the end, who knows.

There are no words for how touching this story really is. The author has an amazing creative side in creating the word her Bella and Edward live in. While sad and heartbreaking circumstances surround their awkward relationship, we get to see how love truly prevails. Edward is merely trying to protect his family in a world that he no longer understands, and Bella is merely trying to stay alive. Put this story on the top of your 'must read' list, it's that great. Rated M for you younger readers.

I fell instantly in love with it. I truly laughed through most of the chapters. Bella is pithy and hilarious and as funny as I found the story it was also tender and touching, even gut wrenching in just the right places. Show her some love and read and review.

I stumbled upon this story and was immediately hooked by the summary alone. Then, within the first few chapters, I became addicted, craving more of this snarky Bella and her best friend, and flask, Joan. I mean, what would you do if you suddenly woke up ten years into the past? Would you think that you'd died?

I refused to accept that a pair of retro jeans had killed me. I couldn't fathom that level of embarrassment. I'd also rather believe in a benevolent God that would not banish us back to high school when we died. I'm a pretty nice person overall. Maybe I tried returning an outfit to Macy's once after I had already worn it, but overall I am good person who deserves the wings, the harp and the flawless complexion during my afterlife.

How about seriously injured and now you're dreaming?

So if I wasn't dead, there had to be a logical explanation as to why I woke up in 1999. Actual time travel, while popular in a lot of movies, simply doesn't exist. Ashton Kutcher can have his Butterfly Effect and Peggy Sue can decide whether she should get married, but in real life there is no "do over". The possibility that I was in a coma was more likely, but still didn't explain the bump on the back of my head. Doesn't the brain shut down to protect us from this shit? It shouldn't still hurt. Regardless, I was back in time without the cool De Lorean.

And the clever issue of, you're just plain delusional.

Now maybe I've watched too much TV – well, I know I've watched too much TV – but I began to think about how complicated time travel movies are. There are tons of rules. If you change part of one person's future, it has a domino effect. Ashton Kutcher makes one bad decision and - BAM - Amy Smart's a crack whore. This was serious business. There was no way of telling how or why I was here. I didn't want to screw up the future or become a crack whore so I needed to get my act together ASAP.

Either way, Bella has a chance that no one else in life gets - a do-over. The only problem is, she doesn't want one, too afraid that she'll make things worse than they are already. Will meeting a certain 'bad boy' who catches her attention change her mind?

The author writes beautifully, each chapter is better than the last and you find yourself pacing across the floor for the next update to come RIGHT THEN, because it must or you'll go mad. Read, review, you'll find yourself just as in love with this story as I am.

Fear is the Mind Killer

I love this fic, I have rec. it before and I'm doing it again - because it is that good. Bella is beautifully flawed, and has so many seemingly insurmountable obstacles to hurdle that you can't help but root for her the whole way. This story had me laughing, crying and perched on the edge of my seat with baited breath. The Edward in this story has his own issues to hash out, but I loved this Edward (or Scrubsward as I like to call him, mmmmmmm... yum.) I highly recommend you stop what you're doing right now and go read. You will love as I have. Oh, and review, don't forget to show your love, it fuels the writers.
