Hello everybody I’m having a really nice time here in the city of Southampton and I am having loads of free stuffs from the university of southampton (that’s what make it so great for me).

First day in my room, i got a welcome pack which included: small notebook, memory stick, network cable, pen.

At the university, for the different induction programmes, they give food vouchers, juice, apples, oranges,snacks

Yesterday there was a boat trip oragnised by my school and of course, free food onboard!

Today i went to take my student ID card, and along with it, I got a bag, flip file, diary,pen, mug,chocolates, notebook, torch

well, the university is known as one of those receiving most funds for research in the UK! And best of all, my school, ECS (Electronics and Computer Science) is sponsored by IBM :p I just hope that the free stuffs keep coming.

Tomorrow, there will be freshers’ fair, which i’ve heard, means much more free stuff!!!

Hello all, greetingz from Southampton! Reached UK last night, was so tired that I couldn’t even find computers to use here, and they are only a few metres from my room.

Today got my room repainted, went to university here for the first time.Quite some walk…normally i should be taking the free bus service. I walked and walked, got lost, asked people for direction (british people are very nice and they don’t hesitate to help).Unfortunately i got some wrong directions, took me 1h15mins to get to university instead of 30mins.

After that, a relative came to pick me up and show me around the city a little.And now am online typing this post and chatting a little bit with family and friends.

Hello everybody, hope you guyz are enjoying a sound health….not me Suffering from terrible coughs…been so for around 3 weeks now despite my avoidance of chilled stuffs. Today I ate a big cup of chocolate ice-cream and I am feeling a bit better :p I will continue the ice-cream treatment till i recover completely.

And yes, there is news! Blog posts have been a bit rare these days here because I am a bit taken up with preparations for a UK tour. I’ve obtained a postgraduate scholarship from the Government of Mauritius for a 1 year MSc course abroad.Next week I will be leaving for Southampton and I am sure that I will be able to publish interesting blog posts

And as I will be a world president who likes to bring nice changes to our life (azoute ene ti p zepiss), I have decided that all cyclones, storms, hurricanes….will be named after well-known (and notorious ) people + the current year.My list will include names like : G-Bush-2020, Saddam-2025 and you imagine a Bin-Laden-200X :p I think these names will definitely enhance those storms :p

Talking about weapons of mass-destruction? Iraq? Nuclear weapons? North Korea, Iran? Holdon, isn’t 33.2 million individuals out there carrying lethal biological weapons even much more dangerous?

Indeed, there were 33.2 million people infected with the HIV in 2007 and the number is growing.And nothing has been able to reverse that trend, on the contrary, in Mauritius, there are some irresponsible people (are they infected too?) who are putting up posters on boards saying that we should not discriminate people having this deadly virus. To them I say: Will you let your child mingle with these people?

Top of my agenda as future world president: I will make the HIV only the name of a long extinct virus and people with AIDS will only be found in history books! Money will not be wasted anymore in useless research work for finding a cure, instead the money will be diverted for the relocation of infected people. In fact, my solution is very simple, find a nice place (Australia seems ideal), move out all the uninfected people from there. And put those 33.2 million infected people in Australia. Nobody leaves the island and food supplies will be delivered by air. As for population growth, it will only shrink, simply because all new inhabitant will be sterilized before insertion on the island. After 100 years at most, the HIV will exist no more!

Some of you might think why choose Australia….and not Africa…Africa is to huge to control+the natural resources present there…And also those infected people atleast deserve to be treated well in their final days, thus Australia is a nicer place But no worries, after 100 years, Australia will be available again :p

Some of you might already be aware that the muslim’s month of fasting (Ramadhan) is about to begin as from Monday (or Tuesday?) and will last for 30 days (i hope its 29…). For a brief about the muslims’ fasting, they are not allowed to consume food or water from before sunrise till sunset. At night they can eat or drink normally. And many people think that they should engulf a maximum of food in the early morning to be able to fast the whole day. This is absolutely not the case for most human beings :p As for me, i take only 1 weetabix with milk and drink half glass of water.

Also, fasting people tend to avoid the sight of food during the day so as not to remember their hunger :p Well well, these kind of people better avoid reading my blog during daytime during the incoming month because food will be all around

And i thought, let me do something special for the blog for the incoming 30 days (as from monday 1st september) : I will publish a daily post about how I intend to change the world when i become your trustworthy president

I used to think that Pascal Computer Services was a flourishing local company… What i didn’t know was that this company is struggling so much to survive competition, to the point that they have now resorted to spam mails for advertising! And when you mail them back, politely asking them to stop spamming you, guess what…they respond by spamming you even more!

And dont tell me it’s another spammer using pascal and advertising pascal’s training courses in IT :p

To all those getting sick from local companies sending spam,raise your keyboards :p

Got a mail today; was about the Blog Action Day whereby a day is chosen and bloggers across the world publish posts about a particular topic. And for this year, it’s poverty.

Anyway, while waiting for that day (15th of October 2008), i started thinking a bit about my own perception of poverty. The first thing that comes to my mind: Poverty== No Money

And I am pretty sure, many among you thinks alike. That is, if you have loads of money, you are rich! On the contrary, having no or little money, implies poverty. But this simple logic leads us to the very debatable issue about “money is everything”, which personally I disagree. But if i disagree with this, then how come I think that poverty is an outcome resulting from the lack of money? Most probably i am proving myself wrong!

I feel that we should try look at poverty in a different way. Educate the new generations about the real richness and poverty of this world. Having no money does not mean you are poor and samewise , loads of it does not make you a rich man.

Rich are those who can understand others, are able to help others and who know the secrets of living a happy life. The poorest are the selfish ones from among us and the illiterates. By illiterates, by no means do i refer to those having no education but rather those people who are educated but do not know how to make good use of it. There are people out there who never have been on a school bench, but yet, these same people are far better human beings than some degree holders. And we dare refer to them as poor? They may be wearing no clothing and we think this is because they are poor…but perhaps, perhaps this is because their hearts are pure, they have nothing to hide unlike us, who wear suits to hide our selfishness.

So are you rich or poor?
