A Surprise Sell

Sunday evening I got a call from Riccardo Davenport. Riccardo runs a gallery out of his home and for a long time showcased some of my art there. I had recently removed my art from his gallery because one he had not sold anything in over a year and a half and two, he wasn’t doing anything with the business.

Okay, back to the call. Riccardo informed that he had someone who wanted to buy the painting you see at the left (Click it for a larger view). He said the buyer was at his house now with the money on him. Mind you this is 11:30 in the evening, I am down for the night and Riccardo’s place is miles away and he wants me to bring the painting there by 12:00. So taking everything into consideration I said “okay, I’ll be right over”.

I got $200 for a painting that I did over ten years ago and that I was tired of looking at. It was money I needed bad and that came out of nowhere. I like surprises like.

M. C. Escher

I like M. C. Escher’s use of confusion. In his world you don’t know if you are going up the stairs or down them, are the flying north or south and which are the birds the black area or the white.

No one can confuse and delight you more than M. C. Escher and make it all seem like it can be done.

My favorite piece of his is “Bond of Union” seen below. The way the heads are made into ribbons and then intertwined with each other says a lot about relationships and caring enough to become bonded to another person.

M. C. Escher is one those artists whose work you look at and see something new every time you look at it.

Roland Heyder An Artist You Should See

I am a surreal nut, I just love surrealism. Not all surrealism mind you, but the realistic style of surrealism. If you are like me and like that style of surrealism or surrealism at all then you will like the art of French artist Roland Heyder.

Not since Salvador Dali have I been so enthralled with an artist’s work. I have seen artist who’s work I liked a lot, but I absolutely Roland Heyder work. The photographic realism, the mixture at times of Dali and M.C. Escher, the distance he achieves in his landscapes and the imagination he uses to create his works all delight me and inspire me to do greater works of art.

If you like surreal art, once you see Roland Heyder’s art I’m sure you will become a fan.

Making The Move

Sold A painting On Ebay
