The XRAY T2'009 EU is backordered all around the globe. I spoke with RC America and found out the reason no one has them in stock is because XRAY haulted production for two weeks while on vacation. I will be receiving a shipment containing the XRAY T2'009 EU around the 1st of September.

RC XRAY Hits One Year Anniversary

I'm a little late on this but it still needs to be shared. RC XRAY was launched on May 12, 2008 so our online business officially had its one year anniversary last week. We learned a lot in our first year and there are always some surprises when you start a business. Thankfully, most were pleasant. Here are a few quick points you may find interesting.

Our most popular XRAY RC cars were the XRAY 808 and T2'009.
Even with the economy at its worst, our most profitable months were in 2009 and we have seen a steady increase.
To our surprise, XRAY parts have made up a large portion of our overall sales. As you can see from our website, we do not offer a shopping cart for parts. This means we do all of our pricing and payment over email. I thought this was pretty impressive.
On a similar note, we were also very happy with HUDY tools sales. This page was not added until December 13, 2008 but we saw an instant return.
You may be wondering what RC cars we own since we have access to the entire XRAY lineup. We still run the XRAY M18 and NT18MT RTR. Why? We just race against ourselves and use the driveway for this. 1/18th scale works best given our driving area.
What is the XRAY RC car we're forward to most? Personally, I can't wait to see the electric version of the XRAY 808. XRAY fans were converting their 808 kits soon after it came out and XRAY noticed. Last I heard this kit is still in the works.

XRAY T2'008 Is Sold Out

The XRAY T2'008 has been officially retired. RC America was selling the 2008 edition of the 1/10th scale 4WD electric on-road touring car for a discounted price to get rid of their remaining inventory. The release of the XRAY T2'009 was the reason for the sale special on the T2'008.

I called RC America yesterday and asked Ralph Burch how many T2'008 kits they had left in stock. He said they were all out and it is no longer available. This means the only way you can get a T2'008 EU or US kit is to find a hobby shop that has one left in stock or go on eBay. I have already had one customer contact me because they were frustrated with eBay sellers so be careful.

If you already own a T2'008, don't worry you can still buy XRAY parts for it. As a matter of fact, XRAY still supports the T2'007, T2 (2006) and the T1 models that go all the way back to 2001. So you're definitely covered in the parts department because they still manufacture those.

So what are your options if you can't find a T2'008? Well, a lot of RC car fans were looking for the T2'008 because it was a great value with its reduced cost. We were selling it for $450. I recommend you consider the XRAY T2R PRO which costs only $300. This is XRAY's affordable touring car and a great one to get started with. If you need an RC car that is ready for a high level of competition then you should look at the T2'009 which costs $505. It's only $55 more than the cost of the T2'008 and RC XRAY offers free shipping on all of our RC cars & kits.

No 2009 Spec Conversion Kit for XT8

If you want to buy all of these new parts to upgrade your XT8 it would cost about $644.00 USD. RC XRAY sells the XRAY 1/8th scale off-road nitro RC truggy for $635.00 so I don't recommend upgrading your 2008 XT8 with all of these parts. You should just buy the ones that will provide the best improvements and this won't be the same parts for everyone. Your driving style will play a role in which parts are for you. If you think you need most of these parts, then I recommend you just buy the new 2009 Spec XRAY XT8 and use your 2008 truggy for parts.

Preorder Info for X10, XRAY's New 1/10 Pan Car

I have spoken with RC America several times this week (probably more than they care for), but they also gave me some information on the new XRAY X10. XRAY's new 1/10th on-road electric pan car GT is based off of the design of the XRAY XII which is 1/12th scale.

The new X10 is not included in the next XRAY shipment from Europe that will have the new 2009 spec XRAY XT8 or backordered 2009 808 kits we've been waiting on. The XRAY X10 will probably arrive in the US in about a month. That's just a guess but I think we'll see it on the following shipment.

RC America did release an updated dealer price list for March and it includes the X10. The XRAY X10 part number is 370500. The suggested retail price of XRAY's 1/10th pan car GT will be $275 which is the same as the XII. However, the pan car is being offered to dealers at an "introductory sale price". I can't announced the dealers price but I will say that RC XRAY will take preorders for the X10 for just $250. We have decided to pass the savings to XRAY fans (I sound like a car dealership commercial... minus the yelling).

I digress. We have not been able to post an XRAY X10 page on our RC car store because no details or photos have been released. So if you would like to preorder the X10 for $250, just contact us. We'll work it out over email.

When Does 2009 Spec XRAY XT8 Arrive?

The short answer is the 2009 Spec XRAY XT8 will arrive in the US tomorrow or early next week. I spoke with RC America earlier this week and they said they expect to receive the next XRAY shipment no later than Wednesday of next week with some optimism that is could arrive this week.

The good news about this shipment is it will include the first batch of XRAY's 1/8th scale off-road nitro truggy that has been updated for 2009. Again, XRAY has not increased the cost of this truggy so RC XRAY is selling it for the same price as the 2008 version. It does have a new part number (350201) so you can be certain you have the 2009 spec XT8.

If your local hobby shop has ordered the 2009 XT8 then I think they will have them by no later than the end of next week. The 2009 Spec XRAY 808 sold out quickly so make sure you preorder yours soon. Some of our 808 kits were backordered which gives you some idea of how many XRAY fans are looking forward to these kits. While I'm on the subject the 808, RC America is getting more of the XRAY 1/8th scale off-road nitro buggy in this shipment too. So if your 808 is backordered you'll have it soon.

2009 Spec XRAY 808 & NT1 Shipping to Dealers

I was expecting to get an XRAY shipment in from RC America in today but didn't so I called to check on its status. The XRAY T2'009 US edition has been really popular lately so we had to order more inventory.

I spoke with Brian this morning and he told me the T2'009 US version was on backorder. That was bad news but he followed it up with good news. He said the XRAY shipment from Europe they had been expecting arrived on Friday, March 6th. So more T2'009 kits came in and ours were shipped on the same day.

Now for the primary purpose of this blog post. The shipment also included the new 2009 spec XRAY 808 and NT1 kits everyone has been waiting for. RC America has both kits in stock so RC XRAY or your local hobby shop can get them for you. If they shipped all their orders last Friday I would guess all XRAY dealers will have the 2009 spec kits by the end of this week.

I checked about the price again and both the 2009 spec XRAY NT1 and 808 will not change in price. I did say in an earlier post that the part number would not change, but that's not correct. The 2009 spec 808 part number will be 350004. I completely forgot to ask for the NT1 part number but I would guess it will be 330001. I'll confirm though.

US Arrival of 2009 Spec XRAY 808 & NT1 Less Than 7 Days Out

At RC XRAY, we have several customer parts on backorder at RC America. I called them yesterday to get an update on their status and the arrival of the next XRAY shipment from Europe. I spoke with Brian and he said they expect to see the next shipment either late this week or early next week. He said it has already shipped so there is only a difference of a few days of when it will show up at RC America.

This shipment should include our backordered parts. More importantly, it will have the new 2009 spec XRAY 808 kits. It will also include the 2009 NT1 too. Both of these established RC racers have received minor improvements to their platforms, however neither will go up in price. They have the same part number as their 2008 version so XRAY is not trying to sell you a brand new car. If you have the 2008 version, there is no need to sell it in order to buy the 2009 version. There is not a big enough difference between the two versions.

So what does all of this mean you to? Well, if you are waiting on backordered parts you won't have to wait much longer. If you are are in the market for an 808 or NT1, you want to wait about another week before ordering one. Make sure you ask RC XRAY or your favorite local XRAY dealer to order it from RC America after early next week. This will ensure you get a 2009 spec RC car instead of last year's version. The cost is the same so just be patient.

New XRAY X10 & 2009 Spec XT8 Coming in Late March

Yesterday I said I talked with RC America and found out the XRAY NT1 and 808 arrive by March 6th. I also asked Ralph Burch about the 2009 spec XRAY XT8 and brand new X10, XRAY's 1/10th scale electric on-road pan car.

XRAY just finished up with the 2009 spec XRAY NT1 and 808. Now that both RC cars are shipping they are focusing their attention to the XT8 and X10. Mario Hudy said as much on Twitter when I asked about the two 1/10th scale RC cars.

"@LesPorter yeah, the XT8 next followed by X10. And of course plenty of #hudy products on task list as well. Few couple of busy months coming"

When I checked with RC America they said they expect both kits to arrive in late March. They could not tell me pricing information but I would be surprised if the XT8 is not the same price since the 808 and NT1 did not change. Ralph could not tell me a price for the XRAY X10 either.

2009 Spec XRAY 808 & NT1 Arrive in Early March

I called RC America this morning and talked to Ralph Burch. My questions centered around the new 2009 spec XRAY RC cars. The last time I asked about them I was told they could arrive late February or early March.

Today Ralph said the new 2009 spec XRAY 808 will arrive at RC America by March 6th. This is also true for the 2009 spec XRAY NT1 too. The news gets better too. I was very happy to hear that both of these updated nitro RC cars will be the same price as their 2008 versions. They will have the same XRAY part numbers so XRAY has decided to improve these two already impressive RC cars without increasing the price.

I know XRAY fans are very happy to hear about the lack of a price increase. I recommend you tell XRAY you appreciate it. For those on Twitter you can follow Mario Hudy and tell him thanks. When you look at his Twitter page you'll see Mario confirms the XRAY NT1 and 808 are one the way.

XRAY NT18 Sale Continues

In late December, RC America announced a big sale on the XRAY NT18. We matched their price drop by lowering our cost as well. We've sold some of these discounted XRAY NT18 kits and decided to check with RC America to see if they are still running the sale. The answer is yes. So we are continuing to sell the NT18 for $145 with free shipping.

There is one additional thing you should consider. The XRAY NT18 with Electronics Pack still costs $280. This kit comes with the XRAY Micro Nitro Electronic Pack (#389103) which includes a receiver battery, 2x servo, switch and cables. We sell this part for $104. What all of this means is you can order the NT18 and electronic pack separately for just $249, saving you $31. Just something to consider and something our customers have done.

XRAY X10 Coming to US

As I said in my last blog post, I talked to RC America yesterday. During that time I had the opportunity to ask about the new XRAY X10 which was announced during the Nuremberg Toy Fair. The X10 is their new 1/10th electric on-road GT pan car and it is based off of the XRAY XII platform.

RC America could not give me an exact date when the XRAY X10 will arrive in the US. All they could do is speculate. Since the X10 is based on the XII it likely won't take as long to manufacture. With all of that said, RC America guessed the X10 would arrive in April or May. Please keep in mind this was a guess. They do not have any delivery information from XRAY yet.

As soon as XRAY releases the specifications, documents and images for the X10 we will add it to RC XRAY. We do plan on allowing customers and fans to preorder the X10. As we have done in the past, we will take preorders with a non-refundable $50 deposit which will be applied to the cost of the X10. Unfortunately, we don't know how much it will cost at this point. If you simply can't wait and must preorder your X10 pan car now, just contact us and we can help you.

When Do The 2009 Spec 808, XT8 & NT1 Arrive?

I called RC America today to check on a few items. One of my big questions was when are the new 2009 spec versions of the XRAY 808, XT8 and NT1? XRAY announced these new versions of their existing flagship RC cars. RC America think they will receive the 2009 upgrades in late February or maybe early March. This isn't definitive but it makes sense.

These aren't completely new kits. XRAY is making tweaks and minor changes to improve the current RC cars. I'll go ahead and answer the question some of you have. If I already own the NT1, 808 or XT8 should I sell it to get a 2009 version? The answer is no. I recommend you take a look at the new parts and consider if they would be good for you, but do not get rid of what you already have. The improvements are not big enough. If you want proof take a look at the images XRAY has prepared. Both the NT1 and 808 use the same photography with only new graphics. The XT8 was the only one to get new photos.

We do not have the NT1 and XT8 in stock because we want to offer the new 2009 spec versions as soon as they are available. However, we do have one XRAY 808 left in stock. We are going to drop the price on that remaining kit because we know an XRAY fan would rather have the 2009 version over the 2008 version for the same cost. You're basically getting the kit at dealer cost. This is a great deal on a sweet buggy.

Aluminum Bearing Collars for XRAY 808 Diffs

This post will be brief. XRAY released a new option part for the XRAY 808. This time XRAY fans can get aluminum bearing collars for the differential in their 1/8th scale nitro off-road buggy.

One of the early and minor complaints about the 808 was it was really rough on bearings. You could go through a set of bearings pretty quickly depending on how hard you drive. The new aluminum collar gives equal spacing between the bearings and gives both bearings more strength within the diff. This will help improve bearing life a good bit. If you need a set of these, here's the part number.

1/10th Touring Car Balancing Weights

XRAY has released precision balancing chassis weights for their 1/10th electric and nitro touring cars. This means they are optimized for the XRAY T2'009, T2'008, T2R PRO and NT1.

These weights come in a set of 4 with two 5g and two 10g weights. They are made of steel and laser engraved so you can identify them. These can be used with other RC cars but they are designed to be mounted to XRAY touring cars with their pre-drilled chassis holes. Here is the part number if you want to order these weights.

If you need precision balancing, HUDY offers its Chassis Balancing Tool (#107880). The weights will cost you about $22 while the balancing tool is about $10. You can order these from RC XRAY or any XRAY dealer.

XRAY Shipment Arrives at RC America This Week

I called RC America today to check on the XRAY shipment of T2R PRO, XII and T2'009 kits we have been waiting on. This will be the first batch of the T2R PRO and XII and the second for the T2'009. I should also add that we're expecting a lot of HUDY tools in this shipment as well.

I can't remember if I spoke with Rocco or Ralph, but he told me the flight carrying the shipment should arrive in the US today. He said that "with any luck" the XRAY order will be at RC America on Wednesday, January 28th.

If this plays out as RC America hopes then they will be shipping preordered XII and T2R PRO kits and backordered T2'009 kits and HUDY tools from Wednesday through the rest of the week. Because of the end of year processes that had to occur at XRAY with their exports, we've had to wait quite awhile for this batch so I imagine RC America will be busy shipping inventory to dealers.

Based on that, I'll take a wild guess and say RC XRAY will receive our shipment by next Wednesday (2/4). I would think that we'll have it no later than next Friday (2/6). Keep in mind all of this is dependent on the XRAY shipment arriving at RC America on Wednesday (1/28).

No Surprise - 16° Aluminum Caster Blocks for 808

We all saw this one coming. XRAY announced the 16° aluminum caster blocks have been released for the XRAY 808. This isn't a surprise because we have previously shared the 10°, 12° and 14° versions.

Like the other aluminum caster blocks, the 16° version is very lightweight and strong. When combined with the 10° front kick-up on the 808, this gives you a total caster angle of 26° for lots of steering. Each aluminum block is marked so you know which one is left and right. This also means they are sold separately and here are the part numbers if you need these.

Next RC America Shipment

I called RC America yesterday to check on the status of the first shipment of XRAY XII and T2R PRO kits. We're also waiting on the second shipment of T2'009 kits which has our backordered kits.

I was told that the absolute earliest the next XRAY shipment from Europe would arrive at RC America would be January 23. At the time they did not have an inventory of the shipment but they were certain the T2R PRO would be included in it. In one of my last communications with them they were not certain XRAY's new affordable touring car would be in the first shipment of 2009.

We'll continue to keep our preorder customers up to date whenever we hear more from RC America. We posted all of this to Twitter first so make sure you follow me to get the latest.

Page 150: Xtreme RC Cars includes a Learn How-To section each month and they describe how to adjust Ackerman. A photo of the XRAY T2'008 is featured on the last page of the article.
Page 176: The In Gear section features the new Graphite Ventilated Brake Disks for the XRAY XT8 and 808. Xtreme RC Cars says the part number is 2206 but that's another FAIL. The correct part number is #354111. I'm also not so sure they will work with the XT8 because XRAY's part list shows the graphite brake pads are only for the 808. Two graphite pads comes in a pack and they'll cost you about $15 USD.
Page 182: The magazine pulls out old back issues in their Xtreme Chronicles. 10 years ago they mention the HPI RS4 Mini Pro and how small scale touring cars never got going. They end with "If you ever want one of these now, check out XRAY's T1M.

No Firm Delivery Date For XRAY T2R PRO Yet

When I talked with Ralph Burch at RC America on Monday about the price and arrival of the XRAY XII, I also checked on the delivery date for the XRAY T2R PRO. Both RC cars are still available for preorder.

The new affordable 1/10th scale electric on-road touring car from XRAY is due to arrive in the US soon, but I was hoping for an exact date. RC America expects the next XRAY shipment from Europe to come in between January 15th and 20th. However, Ralph made sure I understood that they don't know for sure. This is what I was told for the XRAY XII. I asked if the T2R PRO would come in on the same shipment. The best Ralph could tell me is he hoped it would arrive with the XII.
