Long break to restructure my financial.

I screw up big time in my financial, I better pull out from now to restructure my financial before it getting worst.

going to sale off everything and start fresh again when i'm ready, Beside, I need money, no matter how I can get I will collect it to pay of my debt.

Once all clear, I will start save for my big event, I love her, she my everything now. After everything stable and according to plan than I will plan to start again.

For now I will still monitoring any news from RC world and post it here.

Thanks to my sifuy Eric, he really teach me a lot about RC car drifting, thanks to him also I get the chassis that i'm using with a reasonable price that lower than maket, ever since this chassis follow me to a lot of competition and places to play. I love this chassis, but it had it limit, time to let go to some one who need it more than me.

Will take photo of all my RC thing and post to anywhere I can sale to let it go asap, cos cash really needed.

SuperAutoMx RC Drift Competitio Day 2

Second day of SuperAutoMx RC Drift Competition witch are the battle day. It suppose to start at 11am but it rain very heavy, so it postpone till kind of late but I can remember.

Since I qualified into best 16 high bracket so have to wait till low bracket over only my turn. Not to forget to mention my first battle opponent are Wong MOD, damn....so I end up at 13th.

Some photo taken when the game postpone, me, Eric, Kenny, Chong Nilai and WOng go visit exhibitor booth. We stop at the real car drifting side and this 180X with a S15 head really catch our eyes, very nice car and the drifter are good also. I took some video when it do drifting but still uploading, will post it in next post.

SuperAutoMx RC Drift Competitio Day 1

Today are qualifiying day. I arrive about 11 something. Settle down and test run. Surface are very rough, my bodyshell very, after adjust abit it still ok, but on the actual run, some small stone was in the way so I make a wrong choice to use that bodyshell. Anyway I qualified in 13, make my way in high brecket.

Tomorrow will be tendem battle, I will change my bodyshell and also setting cos now my car no speed.

Quantum Mechanics – TOP Racing Photon

TOP Racing’s Photon touring car concept was introduced some time ago with the help of some very nice CAD images. Now the 1/10 scale electric touring car is finally available to everybody and we are happy to get our hands on the tasty looking Foam Carpet edition. The car is designed by US on-road wizard Josh Cyrul and features some very nice details such as easy-access front and rear differentials, a specially designed LiPo battery retaining system and other gimmicks that make the Photon stand out from the rest of the current crop of electric touring cars.

TOP Racing’s Photon is delivered in a handy box, suitable for both the rubber and foam tyre spec cars, so be aware of getting your hands on the correct version. The car that comes within the cardboard package is marked with an orange dot on the upper or lower side of the outer packaging. The kit comes with assorted bags for every step of the build. The quality of the parts is very good with nicely machined full carbon parts and red anodised aluminium alloy parts. The red coating is of a good quality with the front and rear universals appearing in a brighter red than the shock and bulkhead parts.

The supplied parts with the kit differ between the rubber and the foam tyre chassis. Our foam spec car comes with front differential, front alloy universals, different chassis braces, harder front springs and a 1.4 mm front sway bar, while the rubber spec edition comes with front spool and steel universals, smaller carbon chassis braces, softer front springs and 1.2 mm sway bars all round. Also the carbon fibre material differs, as the foam carpet spec makes use of less flexible bidirectional carbon fibre plates while the rubber tyre version comes with a more flexible unidirectional chassis plate. Both specs share a very trick LiPo battery mounting system consisting of adjustable plastic rails to accommodate different sized hardcase packs in combination with a very clever system to add additional weights for a proper side-by-side balance of the chassis.

Front
The build starts with the front and rear ball differentials. The manual supplied with the kit consists of CAD drawings, parts lists and comments for both versions so please make sure you pick the correct steps for your type of chassis. Also supplied is an amendment and build tips sheet so building the Photon needs a bit of concentration to not mix-up things especially in the later stages of the suspension build.

If not stated otherwise we followed the build tips provided and wrenching on the differential is pretty much straight forward. As usual with most electric on-road kits we used Associated Black Grease on the thrust races and Corally differential lube on the ‘big balls’ as no greases are supplied with the kit. The front differential is located in a four piece bulkhead set-up. Two of which house the differential with its eccentric plastic cams that also allow for the tension of the front belt to be adjusted. The two rearmost parts of the bulkhead, connected to the foremost ones by CF ‘wings’, surround the central steering crank.

The steering Ackermann geometry is adjustable via different inserts for the crank as well as by sliding the inner ball stud mount back and forth. The inserts are meant to eliminate the need to adjust the length of the steering linkage when sliding the inner ball stud mount back and forth. The result is a more consistent steering set-up as you only change the inner ball stud position and not the length of the steering. Sounds complicated but shows the degrees of perfection TOP wanted to achieve with the new Photon. Attached to the bulkheads via different plastic pivot supports are two very sturdy wishbones. These clever moldings are usable both on the left and right hand side, plus if you flip them they offer a total of three different mounting positions for the lower damper pivot.

The outer steering arm is held in place by a C-hub assembly, the outer suspension pins are held in place by grub screws. All steering and camber links on the Photon are of an ‘open’ design making suspension geometry changes easy as you do not have to detach the ball cup from the ball joint. The differential is held in place by two carbon fibre plates that also act as inner attachment positions for the upper camber links. This helps to speed up maintenance and tuning as the suspension stays in place, which is different to similar chassis designs with combined shock tower and bearing retainer parts that have to be detached from the bulkheads for diff access.

The suspension mounts are supplied with different settings to adjust roll centre and kick-up to suit different track conditions and driving styles. Track and wheelbase are adjustable via different thickness shims. The carpet foam edition comes with a 1.4 mm front stabilizer that attaches via a total of four ball joints to the lower wishbones. Thicker and thinner wires for the stabilizer are available as thin as 1.0 mm and as thick as 1.8 mm.

Middle

The front and rear bulkheads mount on a 3 mm thick bidirectional carbon chassis plate. The chassis is milled out underneath the front & rear diff pulleys, the spur gear and the motor to make for more clearance and better cooling. The 2.5 mm thick top deck of the carpet spec car differs from the rubber spec edition a bit as the carpet version has two additional braces.

TOP Racing’s Photon comes, as described earlier, with a very clever LiPo retainer system with a adjustable brace on the right side of the chassis as well as with two, axial sliding, retainer blocks. These are adjustable according to the size of the (hardcase) LiPo pack you wish to use. In case your LiPo packs do not sport lower retaining lugs the inner plastic support of the Photon comes into play. The support braces the LiPo pack to avoid any unwanted play or conflicts with the front belt. To make full use of the outer brace you should invest in TOP Racing’s LiPo Brace Weight, Centre LiPo Weights and Cylindrical LiPo Weight sets. These mount to the already existing mounting holes and help fine tune the balance of the chassis when using lighter LiPo batteries over conventional NiMH cells. The middle layshaft assembly is of a fixed layshaft design with no rotating parts beside the 100T 64dp spur gear and the 20T drive pulleys on the left and right hand side.

Rear
The set-up of the larger bulkheads that house the rear differential is similar to the front one. Small braces connect the layshaft holder and the bulkheads and also make for a very stiff chassis that is needed for carpet racing. The suspension mounts are similar to the ones up front with different plastic mountings and eccentric bushings for even finer adjustments.

The wheel carriers differ from the traditional design found on other cars as the carriers capture the wishbone and not the other way around. The idea is to have a better support of the carrier on the outer pivot for less flex and less play and therefore a more precise rear end.

The front and rear shock towers are cut from 3 mm thick CF and sport six and five different mounting positions respectively to attach the upper part of the oil filled shocks. These come with threaded alloy shock bodies, red anodised upper and lower caps and a single O-ring cartridge. Supplied with the kit are a total of four different two or three hole shock pistons with 1.0 mm or 1.2 mm holes.

Finish
To complete the carpet foam set-up we used a set of Jaco’s Prism Purple and Magenta tyres as well as Parma/PSE’s 190 mm Alfa body shell. Because of the tight timescale we opted to not send the body to one of your airbrush artists but to use a set of XXXMain’s internal graphics sets. We used #R022 Ice supplied by German distributor LRP Electronic. Body and tyres have been supplied by Joachim of Modell Import Xtra. Forward drive was provided by a Team Orion Vortex Race 6.5T brushless motor, a Team Orion Vortex Race Spec speed control and Team Orion’s new 45C 4600mAh Molecular Power LiPo hardcase batteries. To round off the Team Orion package, a VDS 1009 low-profile servo took over the steering duties.

Track Test
The track test took place at a practice day at the purpose build indoor carpet track of the MAC Geesthacht e.V. near Hamburg. The track features a tight layout and medium grip carpet which should prove ideal for TOP Racing’s Photon.
For the initial run we kept the recommended kit set-up but used harder front tyres, Jaco Purple, as we had the feeling the softer Mangenta’s recommended in the set-up sheet would give too much steering. As this was an indoor track we where only allowed to use odourless tyre treatments and therefore opted for Corally’s tried and tested ‘Jack the gripper’.

The first run with the Photon was very promising. Even with the ‘mild’ 6.5T motor speed was not an issue. The 30 tooth pinion was a tad too much so we went for a smaller 28 tooth one for the next couple of runs. The traction provided by the foam tyres was excellent but we spotted a noticeable push mid-corner that kept us from applying the throttle soon enough to make use of the full potential of the car. First thing now was to flip the eccentric roll-centre inserts on the front to lower the M signed suspension mounts (do not forget to re-adjust the droop to the recommended 5.0mm!). The next run the Photon felt transformed. It still had loads of steering entering the corner but kept it all the way through the turn making it possible to hit the throttle much earlier. During the second run all of a sudden we heard a very strange sound under braking. Close investigation showed a knackered spur gear. Why was that? Obviously we forgot to use threadlock on the two screws that fasten the middle layshaft. Both came loose during the run allowing the adjustable shaft to swing up and down. Lesson learned: always use a good quality thread-lock on ALL screws that go into metal parts and double check before the first run. Thankfully we had a spare 100 tooth 64dp spur gear at hand. While changing the spur gear we also tried to further improve the chassis set-up and shortened the front upper links by using the middle position on the carbon plates. This now gave us too much steering all the way through the corner and seems more appropriate for very low grip conditions. Instead we lay the front shocks one hole in on the shock tower giving us a slightly softer front end that slowed down the steering response a bit without sacrificing overall steering.

With the last couple of runs the Photon developed a slight amount of oversteer coming out of the very tight turns which was caused by back end tyre wear. This showed us how important it is to always stay with one diameter once you found the right suspension set-up. With a new set of rear Mangenta’s the TOP Racing Photon was back in business.

Conclusion
TOP Racing’s new Photon is a real beauty. Quality parts mix with excellent on-track performance. Although we only can judge the Carpet Foam Edition we think the Rubber Spec car will for sure be a winner on the track too.

Performance Tips

Differentials
We left the thin 12×0.3 mm shims on the outdrives off as to achieve a small amount of axial play between the differential outdrives and the bearings (Step 05). Also the triangle shaped slots in the differential gear hold extra ball grease. This is a nice idea and seems to work but we advise not to use too much grease as otherwise things can become a bit messy. After our first run the rear differential felt a bit gritty. Maybe it slipped a bit under acceleration. We disassembled it, polished the diff rings with WD40 and very fine grit wet & dry paper and reassembled it. After this treatment the differential felt smooth and consistent for the rest of the day.

Centre drive
When gluing the centre drive pulleys and the outer flanges together we first pressed the outer rings onto the pulleys and applied tiny drops of CA glue after that. You can dose the amount of glue easily by applying a small drop on the tip of a scalpel and let it drip into the gap. (Step 06)

Pinion gear
The grub screw of the pinion gear is a bit hard to reach. Best thing is to use a good quality ball hex driver or a short standard hex that is placed between the top deck and the spur gear with the driver angled to the back of the car.

Top deck/motor screws
Install the upper of the two motor screws before fixing the top deck. We found it quite hard to insert the screw as the button head touches the top deck making it nearly impossible to put the motor screw where it belongs. If you already installed the upper deck remove the four 2.5×6 mm countersunk screws located over the layshaft and raise the top deck slightly so the button head motor screw can slide underneath it.

Steering servo
Two different steering servo brackets are supplied with the Photon kit. We suggest to use the larger ones They make the servo stand away from the centre line of the chassis a bit more but otherwise the steering lever of the central steering crank will hit the servo. We additionally suggest to make use of the rearmost location holes for the servo as otherwise the steering lever will hit the servo mounting lugs. This is the only real issue on an otherwise very well designed car. (Step 37)

Team Orion goes molecular
Just in time for the track test of the TOP Racing Photon we received a large shipment with Team Orion’s all new Advantage Race Spec charger and a set of the new Team Orion Carbon Molecular 45C LiPo batteries. The all new ‘Molecular’ LiPo packs offer specially designed cells that are developed exclusively for the use in all demanding RC applications and offer true 45C according to Team Orion. The packs made our Photon equipped with a 6.5T Vortex Race motor fly around the track and we think these are the most powerful LiPo cells we have used to far. The Carbon Molecular packs are available as 4600mAh, 5000mAh and 5400mAh straight packs as well as 4500mAh and 6000mAh Saddle Packs. You can also choose between Traxxas and Deans high performance plugs or 4mm gold connector ‘tubes’. Ours came with the excellent Deans plugs that offer a low resistance and are very easy to use. The packs do not come with lower locating lugs like Team Orion’s Race Spec Carbon packs but since the Photon chassis offers a very clever LiPo retaining system this is not much of a problem. Although the Carbon Molecular batteries offer 3C charging we only used 2C as most of the current chargers only allow for a maximum of 10A of charging current.

Team Orion Advantage Race Spec
The all new Advantage Race Spec charger is developed by Team Orion’s own ‘guru’ Oscar Jansen with maximum battery performance and life span in mind. It is suitable for 1 to 10 NiMH or 1 to 4 LiPo/LiFe cells and offers a charging rate up to 10A. Delta Peak detection for NiMH cells is adjustable from 0 to 20mV. LiPo and LiFe cells use Constant Current/Constant Voltage detection. The Race Spec charger comes with an internal balancer so there is no need for additional devices. Good thing is that Team Orion supplies a suitable adapter for 2S to 4S LiPos as well as a charging harness for the use with gold plug equipped LiPo packs. The input wires come with 4mm gold plugs for easy use with current power supplies as well as 12V lead batteries thanks to additional large crocodile crimps.

Adding to the ability to charge batteries the Race Spec charger offers up to 10A of discharge current as well as input and output reverse polarity protection. 10 different individually adjustable profiles offer the possibility to have charging profiles for all of your needs: Receiver pack, power pack, receiver battery, glow plug etc. We used Team Orion’s new Race Spec charger throughout the test period of the Photon TC with no problems. Nice thing about the charger are the two very silent fans that do not run permanently but only when needed.

New in the Pits - Associated TC6

Never I post any other brand before other than Yokomo or Tamiya or TOP, but I find this chassis kind of nice from viewing. Read this in RedRC

With the 1/12th Worlds now over, focus has now switched to touring car and on today’s preperation day we sat down with Team Associated who gave us the scoop on their new TC6 chassis, that is making its international debut at this race. Retaining the same lower front and rear wishbones, C-hubs and rear uprights from the TC5, the rest of the car is different. A focus on LiPo and brushless the most noticable change is to the chassis which is very narrow and no longer sports battery slots. Mounted on top of the chassis is new bulkheads, which set closer together allow the track width to be made narrower. The spur gear has been set lower and the motor is now positioned 13mm closer to the centre line, which in turns means the LiPo sits further to the outside which means that the car is perfectly balanced down the centre line straight out of the box.

The new top deck is now longer and narrower but stays at the same height as on the TC5. It acts as the top mount for the steering bell crank, which sports an adjustable bell crank arm which can be swapped out for a 2nd version which gives the driver 6 positions of Ackermann, which when then combined with the 2 mounting points on the steering arm and the second mounting position for the centre pivot of the bell crank give a huge number of Ackermann adjustments. The input lever on the bell crank has also been updated, giving it more linear and therefore slightly slower reacting steering.

Other changes include extra positions on the shock towers giving you 6 options on the front and 7 on the rear. And although not seen on this car as it wasn’t ready in time, there will be all new shock absorbers that feature a bottom mounted assembly with increased stroke length, which gives 2mm more up travel at the wheel. The front bumper has also been updated, lowering the entire construction something they believe gives the car more steering by reducing the air flow under the car and it also now integrates a transponder mount. Revised lower suspension arm mount screw positions allow you to get at the screws easily as the head is now positioned on the outside. A neat feature is the use of universal parts on the car, meaning that all 4 front and rear bulkheads are interchangeable meaning you can cut down on the amount of spare parts needed for the car. These prototype TC6 cars are only in use by team drivers for now, but we are told to expect an October release.

Wow...last night after our drift meeting, we had drink and talk about using laptop to tune ESC, sure look cool and make joke about it than today I read this in Hobby Haven Malaysia Blog.

The Team Tekin published this picture where there is an iPhone connected to a speed R5 Pro ESC. From the picture it is clear that the Tekin has ported the PC application developed Hotwire to program the functions of the speed controllers. At the time were not released information on the release date and features are sure that this new application will redeem an excellent success among the proprietary modelsmelafonino or the few lucky owners of iPad.
