There are some great points made in the book about better ways to help people in developing countries. I want to comment on one of the last chapters of the book. The authors come down pretty hard against short-term missions trips (STMs). One of them had taken one such trip when he was young and has decided that it probably did more harm than good. There were bananas, pineapples, papayas, mangoes and a few others. One was of particular interest. Just outside the kitchen window was a cherry tree or perhaps better described as a cherry bush. It was about fifteen feet tall (that's five meters in Nigerian). The branches were big enough that the kids could climb up them, which they did when the cherries got ripe. She did what our Secretary of State should do - she went to Honduras and talked to the people involved. She did the research on the constitution of the Honduran government and confirmed with Micheletti that she understood correctly that the constitution cannot be changed as it pertains to the number of terms a president can serve.
