Alright, we were energized upon fully-replenishing our fatigues of yesterday!
Hee...
Breakfast was the first activity of the day.
Therefore, XSheng brought us to have Dim Sum (yesh... my special request heh) and chicken rice ball for our breakfast!

2 rounds of breakfast and we were seriously bloated!
After that, we back to the motel, parked the car over there and walk to the Jonker Street to facilitate our digestive system.

Here we go...!

Traveling is a very fun activity especially when you're exploring with your friends!
While I'm still enjoying my semester break, I'm trying to plan some trips if possible.
Yes, it can be motivating during the planning process and turn out to be relaxing during the trip!
What's more, when you have friends from different states that could bring you around the places...
One of the best parts is, awesome friends of mine even offer me to stay at their place..
Yeah, you can really save a lot of time and money thanks to them!
Hmm... Thinking back there are a few places that I've yet to travel in Malaysia...

Fun with TUSO Part 2: Malacca 古城 Day 1

We moved on to our next trip on the following day to one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Malaysia: The historical city of Malacca, albeit deeply got tanned after the Sekinchan trip.

Food, was our first activity when we touched down at the land of Malacca and unloaded our luggage at XSheng's house.

That's all for our lunch...?

Nah, we departed to have the famous laksa mee!

Look! That's what we saw right after getting down from the car..

And, they serve the famous curry puff too!

It was just about time to check in at our reserved motel/ lodge hotel after we had our lunch :)
Strategically-located, it's very convenient for us to walk to Jonker Street.

When the nightfall, we proceeded to Malacca River and boarded the Malacca River Cruise..
Guess what, we met 2 foreigners that we bumped into at Jonker Street over there too.
We had a quick chat with them and yeah, they're are from Tibet and German!

Venice of the East~

Though it was 4 days after the X'mas, it's a must-visit to Portugese Settlement!
It was the most atmospheric place during X'mas in Malaysia whereby all the houses were awesomely-decorated!
No, it was very different from the X'mas decorations in those shopping malls where you can feel the warmth...

yesh... these are in the houses!

Then... Yes, it was time to have our supper!
Malacca is another avenue for seafood..!

Aww... This made me recalled the toothsome cheese naan that I had back at Cameron Highland 8)

Hehe... Sorry but thank you to my friends who accompanied me patiently....

Back in motel, some of us dashed to the bathroom while Roy & THooi were so eager to check their academic result using the computer provided over there...

1st try on violin!

It actually stays in my house for quite some years...
Instead of continue isolating it in the store room, I've had a makeover for it - changed whole set of string and a new bow!
I don't know old is it, perhaps older than me?
lol
Anyway, the bridge was broken during the string-replacing session :(
Shall I send it for checking since the "D" can hardly be played, shouldn't I?

My time is almost fully-occupied that I can't go for any formal violin class.
(If I have the time and money, I shall go for flute first D:)
Yeah, I have to learn it by myself..
Uh oh, I can only play it at night, after coming back from work >.<
But still, better than flute which I seriously cannot play it at night -.-
Internet is one of the good sources to D.I.Y.!
Hmm...
There are some thing that I discovered upon playing it:
1. It is a MUST to rub the rosin on the bow.

2. Your fingers will get sticky after applying rosin on the bow. (Anyone has the remedy for removing the stickiness instantly?)

3. Playing violin can be quite hazardous. No?

I realized that violinist may inhale the powder that was coming off from the bow especially the newly-rosined bow..

4. Learning violin/ viola is way cheaper than learning woodwind or brass instruments!!

So far these are my discoveries...
Need to get help from my violin friends for more inquiries and guidance! D:

Lastly, anyone knows where to get 2nd hand VIOLA? (not violin)

need to get a casing for violin as well........ @.@

Of music, flowers, delectable food and ♥, 11.1.12 is one of the red-letter days!
Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin on Steinway & Sons was not only awakening but stimulating!
Indeed, it has made my day..!
It was such a pleasure to watch 3 piano recitals in a row and yeah, including my sis and her friends'.
Most importantly, it's a family day!!!

December 2011 - January 2012 is a season of farewell.

I have a couple of friends leaving Malaysia to United States and Australia/ United Kingdom..
In fact, some already left :(

Some say that the loss of a friend is like that of a limb.
Time may heal the anguish of the wound, but the loss cannot be repaired.
Yet, life must move on and we shall go forward!

1. Benny Tham
My T- Force partner. (haha..)
Got to know him when we went for Music & Choir Club AGM 2008.
Till then, I only found out that he was actually the PROTEM/ prefect's exco wannabe and being elected as school captain at the end.
He was a good leader I must say, being the Council Chairman and Drum Major of 1st KL Boys Brigade, School Captain as well as Vice President + Conductor of Music & Choir Club, we worked together well especially in organizing and carrying out Music & Choir Club events: MBS Idol 2008 & 2009, Show Your Talent Musical Instrument(s) Competition 2009.
He was a very good partner of mine and I need not to worry about any task that assigned to him which made my life much easier.
Besides, he's a trustworthy and caring friend.
Don't believe?
Ask those whoever around him ;)
I still remember the duet practice session that we had in the school hall playing winter sonata.. mesmerizing!
Multi-talented yet humble are another reasons he's well-liked!

hahaha...

2. Goh Chin Chuan
A very quiet and skillful yet low profile clarinetist.
He's a loyal person.
Nevertheless, he's a dedicated and responsible member.
That's one of the reasons I strongly recommended him to become the Woodwind Section Leader.
Yeah, he'll be there for practices though exam is just few days away!
"Diam-diam ubi berisi" best describes him.

3. Ian Beh
A proactive member and music lover.
Yes, he self-learn the double bass and become our orchestra's first double bassist!
Regarded as 'gay gay one' with CKia.. hahaha
An out-going friend :)

okay, ignore the incorrect way of holding the bow.. rofl

4. Lee Chee Kia
Nerdy at the first sight, a super introvert partner-in-crime with Ian.
Always bumped into him somewhere near or in the library.
Got to know him since April but he only joined us at the end of November.
Yeah, the first and last show before he's flying after asking him to join us for soooo many times.

5. Chan Teng Hooi
Multi-talented and a very dedicated member, acting conductor + arranger.
Playing violin, trombone, flute and piano is not a problem for him.
Less one friend to go and watch music concert upon his leaving.
"Cutie" is his another nickname. Haha..
Another road blind like me... wakakaka...

now I tend to think of 'beach' when I see him.. haha

6. Joanne Choo

Yeah, she's leaving slightly later in Feb 2012, still... I'm having sem break now and won't be back to campus if not necessary..

So the trip to Sekinchan will be my last time seeing her T_T
She's fun and cheerful.

Even an ordinary chatting session will turn out to be full of laughter whenever she's s there!

You won't get bored spending time with her ;)
Another dedicated member (yes, she will come all the way far from her hometown at Pahang to Subang Jaya just to come for the practice!!!)

And, a cam whore fanatic... ahahaha...

Frankly, it's kind of saddening knowing your friends leaving to somewhere far far away especially it's a bunch of them!
However, every goodbye makes the next hello closer!
That makes the 'good' in goodbye :)

Fun with TUSO Part 1: Sekinchan 渔米之乡

Fresh and cheap seafood, scenic paddy field, succulent fruits, dozens of bird nest, Sekinchan is a place that you seafood cravers, photographer, nature and beauty lovers must visit!
It's a trip with Taylor's University Symphony Orchestra members: Joanne, JJie, Roy, XSheng, KHan and we're lucky to get our Photographer committee: KShen to be tour guide!
It was a 2 days 1 night trip on 27 - 28 Dec 2011.
The journey took around 2 hours from our campus to get there.

The first thing when we reached there was to feed our growling stomach!
Unfortunately, the 2 restaurants that KShen used to go were closed. (Quite a number of restaurants closed on that day, I guess they still haven't back from holiday?)
So, we went to 阿娇 Restaurant to have our lunch.

We were actually quite shocked when the bill came.
It was only RM11+ each person after divided by 7 of us!

After that, we settled down at Harbour View Hotel before continuing our plan to eel-fishing!

Monopoly that I just bought on the day before was one of the entertainment to kill the time while waiting for the sunset.
The weather was so hot and the sun was still scorching after few hours of time but we don't care and started our fishing session!

It wasn't my first time eel-fishing and I've never thought of doing this again after my first try during homestay at Sg. Haji Dorani in my 5th form secondary year :)
We spent quite a long time on searching the holes made by the eels since most of the paddy fields were harvested and the presence of eels in that area is relatively low.
I must say that it was my lucky day because I got to fish an eel after placing my hook for not more than 2 minutes time!

Seriously, it was not as light as I thought especially when it struggled upon being hooked up!
Anyway, we decided to let it go and not to cook it for our dinner.
Haha...

Next station: Tanjung Karang!
No, it was not a white sandy beach but full with shells and rocks.
Our plan to watch the sundown was failed.
Anyhow, the view was nice and we managed to take a few nice shots regardless of cloudy sky.

Hunger, was our, especially my frequent reaction. lol
Hence, we went to KShen uncle's cafe: Wong Corner for our dinner.

We planned to have BBQ initially yet rain fell so KShen cook for us instead!
Thinking back, it was better to have uncle cook for us as BBQ not only will take up a lot of time and most importantly, it's kinda risky since we can't guarantee all the food will be edible!!
Guess what, his uncle's cooking skills was self-learn and yet his cooking is ichiban I must say!

Eat crabs until our fingers cramped. lol!

We managed to visit KShen's grandmother before returning to the hotel.
The night view along the street of the hotel was just like another i-City!
Yes, there were LED trees along the street, just that particular street.

We actually played a few lame games before resting which I really don't get it till now. /.\

meanwhile, we have some music at the night :)

On the next day, we were too tired and got up late.
Consequence? Missed the golden hour for photo-shooting :( and my dimsum.......
Nevertheless, we had nice panmee for our breakfast!

And, KShen's uncle joined us to bring us explore the attractions of Sekinchan after that.
We were slightly late when we went to the orchards as the fruits were sent out from the town on the day before.......

Still, we got see turkey in real!
Hehe...

Later on, we went to look for golden paddy field which has yet to be harvested.
Of course, it was a photography session! ^^

Next station: Salak Tinggi Dam
It was locked and instead, we were busy capturing the photos of flowers, bees and butterflies around there.

Last station: Getting local fresh fruits, prawn crackers, drinks and bird nest!
There was a rice distributor right in front of the stall and look, there are mountains of rice!

Our Sekinchan journey ended when we reach campus at around 4pm.
Glad that there was no major traffic congestion throughout the way and thanks a lot to "TchaikovskyS" of the trip: XSheng & KHan! :) ♥

My 1st Wedding Gig!

It's the wedding theme of KC & Jazzmine!

My KLPac friends: HTian, Abert, KFong and I were invited to play for our friend, Jazzmine during her wedding.
We actually met up and discussed quite early, somewhere in May I guess about the performance.
It's my first wedding gig honestly though have had experience in competition and other kinds of performance.
Well, we played some medley and a full version of some selected songs by Jazzmine:

Rhythm of The Rain
Can You Feel The Love Tonight
Over The Rainbow

Almost all of the songs were arranged by Albert!
Guess what, he has a cool music workstation..!

This is just part of it.. There were actually 2 full range keyboards, 4 monitors and 1 recording mic!

Besides music performance by us, there was a violinist, the bridegroom's violin teacher who played for the opening!
His name was Jon and guess what, he's my friend's bandmate!
The world is small, I'd say..
Especially in music field!

It was their first time being the emcee for wedding dinner but trust me, the way the host was very funny & entertaining! haha

All in all, thank you Jazzmine for the invitation and giving me the chance to play with strong saxophonists HTian, KFong & bassist Albert!

It was an assignment-packed period and no, I did not throw a party or whatsoever like most of the people that celebrate their 21st birthday.

Another reason is, I think it's a day where we have to appreciate our parents especially mother for giving birth and nurturing us to what we are today.
Hence, there's no tradition in my family where we must throw a birthday party.
Yet, I was grateful to have a pre-birthday celebration by my food partner: JKie for a dinner buffet at Suki-ya, Pavillion KL.

On my birthday, my classmates and sisters had a surprise for me during the interval of our class.
I was so touched because it was really a busy week for us meeting the assignments' deadlines & presentation...

White Vengeance 鸿门宴

White Vengeance/ Hong Men Yan is a Chinese historic film directed by Daniel Lee, starring Liu YiFei, Feng ShaoFeng, Leon Lai, Zhang HanYu, Jordan Chan, Anthony Wong etc.

It's a decent movie albeit the aberrations that can't escape from the keen eyes of audience or history fanatics.
Undeniably with the interesting plot & actors + actresses that don't disappoint, I like this movie!
It's my 1st movie after my last movie that I had in July, yeah, few months ago.
In fact, I've watched this twice!
Both cantonese & mandarin version. Haha...
It's a 2 hours 17 minutes movie.
Well, you might get a bit bored at the beginning but trust me it's getting more exciting & thought-provoking as the story goes on.
The malay audience sitting at the front row even clapped when the movie ends!
I watched it at the first time with my friends and we find it amusing when Yu Ji & Xiang Yu get together at such short moment.
Yeah, on the same day they just got to know each other and the next thing is, they promised to be with each other forever.
Our first reaction at the cinema was "what? so fast?!"
Haha...

The loyalty between Liu Bang & Fan Kuai as well as the love between Xiang Yu & Yu Ji was very touching.
Jordan Chan did a good job on interpreting the Fan Kuai character I must say.
And, the way Zhang Liang aided Liu Bang in circumventing Xiang Yu was interesting.

However, the ending was rather saddening, quite similar with the ending of Curse of The Golden Flower.
Honestly, though it's a historic film, I'd prefer if there's a happy ending.
LOL
I dislike story with sad ending :(

Anyway, Liu YiFei is still so pretty without much make-up :D

Haha.. In fact, I just came back from there and now blogging...

Woke up early in the morning and then spent half of my day at my student's house to polish his piano skills...
It was the longest polishing session that I've did so far!

I'm back to blogging after these hectic weeks!

Guess what, I'm still alive after this 4 days of 2 assignments due, 1 test, 1 quiz & 1 performance! :D

Falls on 16 September, it’s a memorable and significant day for fellow Malaysians!

Taylor’s University Symphony Orchestra has performed for 2 songs in the early celebration of Malaysia Day organized by Taylor’s University in collaboration with Christian Fellowship singing as the choir.

We are lucky to have a friend of mine, also a Malaysia renowed composer, arranger, orchestrator and music lecturer, Ken Hor to orchestrate 1Malaysia song for us this time.

I’ve knew him few years back then and at last, I’ve got to play his work! Hahaha…

We only manage to practice not more than 3 times before the actual day. Yeah, this is none other than our hectic schedule (we are not full-time music students!).

Yet, we made it in such short time!

It’s not a perfect performance yet but there’s always room for improvement J

Tea Time with Morianz!

It was 2 consecutive days of outing during raya holiday with my dearest Morianz after months of not meeting!

Special thanks to MHua for organizing it J

Though we can’t get all the Morianz to come, yet it’s just heartwarming to meet some of them before they have to back to their respective university at respective state…
Yes, we had few rounds of Monopoly card game and finally… I’ve won MHua and Khew at the very first round!

Yeah, at last! Muahahaha…

You never know how many rounds that I’ve lost in the previous games with them during previous outings… /.\

Oh yeah, I was so surprised to have Shir to pick me up and guess what, she was driving her father’s new big car!

I can’t even handle a relatively small car ._.

On the next day, we went for Karaoke session at Cheras Selatan.
Unfortunately, it was fully-booked that we’ve decided to headed down to Neway which is just next to Cheras Leisure Mall.

I’ve got to spend my time with KHeng before she has to back to Penang…

Thinking back, it was few months ago since my last sing K session!

I don’t really like to sing but it was fun to have it once in a while with Morianz :D

And and… I was so lucky to have KHeng drove me home!
Gosh… These days have sorta motivated me to polish up my driving skills and get my hands on the car!!

Seriously, I dislike driving but the truth is… I really have to hone my skills before everything is too late.

Give me a lil bit of time to overcome this.

Aw.. Mentioning about driving, I just realized that my P license is ready to be taken off!

Bookfest 2011 @ Malaysia!

It's 1 week of holiday thanks to Hari Raya & National Day!
Minus time for assignments and preparation for quizzes, I managed to go for Bookfest @ Malaysia yesterday!
And yesh, update my blog! xD
Uh oh, I'm not working for Bookfest this year.. hehe
It was kind of hilarious when the Popular staff actually told me "Miss, it's free entrance for 18 and below." when I was going to pay at the ticket counter with my cash on hand.
I was stunned at first but she repeated it again. ROFL
Of course, I smiled and made the payment :)

RM2.50 inclusive of 2 Bookfest Catalogues & wrist tag for 18 and above!

There are many books that I wish to get but thinking of the leisure time I left... so I think maybe getting it next year? @.@

Asian Youth Orchestra Southeast Asia Tour 2011

2 days concert tour on 9th - 10th Aug 2011 by Asian Youth Orchestra in Dewan Filharmonik Petronas, KLCC, Malaysia was a concert that music enthusiasts wouldn't want to miss it.
It was an 8:30pm show but THooi, JJie & I left our campus at around 5pm considering the traffic will be congested.
Yeah, I even skipped my entrepreneurship lecture as not to be late for the concert >.<
[actually it wasn't planned earlier to skip the lesson but the new schedule was out at the very last minute in which I really can't change my routine]
Even so, we reached KLCC at 7 something.
I can't imagine if I were to go after my lecture which means I will definitely late or even miss the whole concert!
We were planning to take our time and have a nice dinner initially but all the restaurants and even food court were fully-occupied!
Yeah, it was the hour where Muslims were about to 'buka puasa' and that was peak dinner hour :x
We went around the floors to hunt for nice food and yet, plan phailed.
At last, we decided to wait for our turn to be seated at Sushi King.
There were not much time left when the foods were served and we were sort of gobbled the food.
Then, there was a long queue of customers who wanna pay for the bills, which including us -_-
We dashed to the philharmonic hall after that.
Glad that I wasn't wearing high heels! xD
We were just so in time that we manage to get in to the hall around 10 seconds just before the show started!

The most interesting part was definitely the astonishing performances by AYO conducted by Richard Pontzious featuring Stefan Jackiw the violin soloist.
Admitting that I was really lethargic on that day but I was so alert when the music begun.
I just can't take my eyes and ears off of them!

The fascinating concert adjourned by a big round of applause from the audiences for more than 10 mins!
I can feel the numbness on my hands after clapping for such a long period.
Haha...

Oh yes, we got to bump into quite a number of musicians as well as music lovers friends of us during the concert!
It was so delighting to meet my ex-KLPac SB conductor Bruce Lee again :)
Finally, I've got to see the famous vocalist & choir teacher Mr. Ian Lim in real!
hahaha
Well, bump into Winston in this concert reminded me of his graduation recital invitation which I've yearn to go.
It's rather sad that I can't turn up for it since it clashes with my new time table ='(
Notwithstanding, all the very best Winston and I know it will be definitely a great recital!

2011/2012 Season Catalogue! :D

Thinking back, everything was just so rush yesterday even though we did departed earlier. lol!
Anyhow, we were considered quite lucky as the road was not as congested as expected, we found the car park easily, and we manage to enter the hall at the eleventh hour!
What's more, we got to be seated by the attendant at the second last row which has better acoustic and view rather than the seats that we have bought. muahahaha!
As for me, I got to have a copy of the Narnia Orginal Soundtrack that I've spotted in THooi's car. ahahahaha...

Months of practices, weeks of rehearsals, Pixies The Musical has finally come to an end after yesterday night of celebration party at the Lark, Pixies Commander’s house. Indeed, the cast has spent months of practices while the musicians spent a week or two of intensive rehearsal for this 5 shows of musical. Of course, not to forget the key people behind the musical, Gan Jia Ying (Composer, Bookwriter & Lyricist), Chow Jun Yi (Orchestrator) & Jay Yow Wu Jun (Producer & Sound Designer).

Well, my pixies journey started with my randomness of clicking the advertisements, links at the Facebook during my semester break (yeah, I was too free that time, haha….) and tadaa.. Pixies The Musical Audition Call event page has caught my attention! Quickly, I sent my biography to them and booked my slot for audition. Few weeks later, there I received an email that I’ve been qualified for the musical as the keyboardist after the audition. To my delight, I’ve never join such musical before although I’ve played for choir as accompanist, in symphonic band & orchestra. Musical is a new and exciting one for me. Yet, I was facing another problem which was the time clash of my classes with the musicians’ schedule, as well as the transportation problem. Anyhow, the world is so small that later on, I found out that my friends, Issac the oboist, Lance the trombonist and Angus the photographer were in the Pixies team too! Some of them stay considerably nearby my area so yeah, my transportation problem was solved. Haha… Anyway, it was sad that Lance couldn’t join us at last due to unexpected circumstances…

I knew musicians like me were rather annoying (LOL!) since we asked Jia Ying for the scores for quite a number of times. The score has finally completed after months of waiting and yes, they were freshly out from ‘oven’! I’ve been hearing friends of mine especially played in MPYO, commented that Jun Yi, the orchestrator of the musical’s works are killing! Uh oh, Jun Yi was invited to compose music for MPYO before, so they know his style of composition pretty well. I finally got to play his work on the day we receive the scores and indeed, with the wide range of chords, running notes (blame on my small hands & not-so-agile-fingers) as well as fast tempo plus limited time to practice, it was really a challenging one!

All of the musicians and cast had intensive practices and rehearsals together 1 week before the performance days at the studio. Seriously, I was touched by the music during the first practice. Stunned , it was really out of my expectation that every single song composed and orchestrated were so nice and the harmony of the music played by the musicians was just so amazing. They were 100% made in Malaysia by young Jia Ying & Jun Yi!! And, you’d definitely astounded by the awesome acting & singing of the cast. Besides singing, they have to memorize their respective long dialogue! I guess I was the only 1 blurring during the practice. LoL.

There were a total of 5 shows in 3 days time. Yes, it was worth for me though I skipped my Friday lecture & tutorial classes as well as music classes. The overall performance of the show was getting better from 1^st show till the last show. There was an unforgettable scene during the last show when Eva fell down from the boxes which stacked up together. I really salute her steadiness and how she performed when an unexpected incident occurred that time. Bravo Yi Fen!

I got to learn a lot of things, amidst of meeting all kinds of multi-gifted people from all walks of life in just such short period thanks to Jia Ying and the crew behind the scene. Joining this musical was of no regrets and truly an eye-opening one!

Wish to see fantastic productions of Jia Ying real soon and work with the fantabulous cast & crew again! :)

Yeah I've back to KL & had a random lunch with my brothers, Khew & MHua again this afternoon!
Uh, we are not really free today but still, MHua is good enough to pick up us and gather :)
Basically we were busy settling & thinking of our own stuff but I'm really delighted to meet with them within my 1 week of real short holiday.. >.<
"Android time" was so much of fun ♥
Wonder when will we meet again..
