Stay tuned for more, as we are currently updating our den by replacing the sliding glass door with new outward swinging french doors as well as new bamboo wood floors. We're also installing new porcelain tile in the kitchen and entry way.

Fall Wreath

Wow, I must be one bored pregnant lady! With Jamie gone for the weekend to hunt, I made this fall wreath out of brass tacks and a foam ring. It makes the brass hardware we still have in our home rather bearable actually. I got the idea via Pinterest. My bow tying skills need a little work.

From Paisley to Rhino

My guest bath once looked like this...

Now our guest bath is not so ugly. Just 2 towel bars to hang and I'll be done (well the painter and my husband will be done). Paint color is Rhino by Behr. Picked up some great towels from Target. New accessories, new paint, new fixtures, some sheet rock patches, and removing popcorn ceiling really make a difference...

AFTER

Thank God my husband is so handy and sweet for putting in the new faucet while the Braves were playing. Then, he put up my new light fixture after a long hot day at work.

Yea, I made that my post's title! Anyways, I should wait to post stuff when it's done but since it takes me so long to do anything, I'm posting the middle-status pics.

Well here's the part of the kitchen I haven't done yet...

And then you see the stacks of tiles patiently awaiting their new home on my kitchen wall?! Yea, I was supposed to grout tonight and then storms moved into GA and I was worried power might go out in the middle of grouting. Excuse?....no!.......y....e....s........ Here's the rest of the ungrouted backsplash that I will grout by the end of April. Swear it!

Twin Bed Guest Room

Found these great prints at a local antique flea market for $6 a piece and hung them over the twin beds in the guest room. Although, they might be a little high. I really like how the traditional prints offset the modern headboards. Let me know what you think!

King Bed Guest Room

This second guest room sat empty for a year and a half...and now it's not! I still have to paint the walls, hang curtains, paint the headboard and refinish the bedside tables but at least there's furniture. Thanks to my Uncle Matt and Aunt Laurie for the king bed!

Breakfast Area Light Fixture Redo

Well, this is how this poor light started out in life...

Then it was installed (lights pointing down since its reversible) in my best friend Katrina's house. She decided it wasn't quite up to par with her design scheme so she replaced it with this...

Since she took it down, she gave it to me and then it lived in my garage for a few months (ok, more like a year)...

Now I've painted it, got new glass shades for it and it's gloriously hanging in my kitchen's breakfast area! TAAAAH DAAAAAAH...

Me gusta mucho. The light fixture was free due to my BFF's generosity. New glass shades cost $6.27 (each, so x 5 plus tax = less than $34). And 2 cans of brushed bronze Krylon spray paint cost about $6.00. So total for a Pottery Barn-esce light fixture cost me $40 (this was the look I was going for: http://www.potterybarn.com/products/cecilia-hurricane-chandelier/?pkey=cchandeliers). Which is a lot easier on my wallet than $400+!

Powder Room Finished

Well it's finished....kinda. Here's the pics of what's basically done minus painting the trim and beadboard. But look at the before pic and you will totally appreciate:

P.S. - The toilet is the same white porcelain as the sink but my camera didn't capture that. I wouldn't mismatch like that. Sorry, folks! :)

Living Room Curtains!

Here are my new curtains for the living room! It's a large window spanning 113" in width including trim. I hung blue Pirouette Lined Rod Pocket Curtains from floor to ceiling. The panels are 96" tall by 51" each so it framed the room perfectly.

Cabinets Done!

Just to remind you, this is the kitchen cabinets before:

I used Behr Premium Paint and Primer in one, in Bleached Linen (satin finish). I know some think it's better to use a higher gloss finish but I decided not to since my countertops are already pretty glossy-looking. Not to mention the fact that the cabinets were in less than perfect condition and hi-gloss would have just accentuated the imperfections.

I still need to paint the baseboards and floor trim but we plan to remove the old linoleum floor and replace with ceramic tile. I'm also putting in a subway tile backsplash -- maybe travetine or something with texture.

The details:

My mom found the headboards at a garage sale - only $40 for the pair. They used to be pale pukey yellow, so I spray painted them this coral color (Krylon spray paint color Tomato), although my iPhone's camera makes it look more orange.
I painted the walls with Behr Limelight (same color I used in our powder room downstairs).
The table under the window is from Home Goods - I bought it for a whopping $69!
The coral and cream damask pillows were purchased from milk and cookies on Etsy.

Kitchen Cabinet Update

This is just a taste of what I've been up to! Trying so hard to get my kitchen cabinets painted but it's tough when they're so old and nasty. Here's what I have to do:

Remove cabinets doors and all hardware- done
Thoroughly clean all cabinets and framing
Fill in holes and/or drill new ones. On all the cabinets, I'm replacing what were pulls with knobs. I'm using pulls on all the drawers but some drawers had knobs instead of pulls.
Sand thoroughly
Clean again
Paint (using Behr Paint and Primer in One in Bleached Linen, satin finish)
Paint again, and again, and maybe again just to touch up
Install new hardware and hang cabinets

What have I done???? Installed under cabinet lighting and removed all my kitchen cabinets....but they'll be back! After I refinish/repaint them! MUAHAHHAHA!

Entryway Lighting After

Ok, let me preface this by saying that my husband begged me to stop "spending money"on the house. Well, all I've really bought is paint (6 cans max, I swear) and maybe a couple pieces of furniture (from places like thrift stores, garage sales, and Home Goods, mind you). Anyways, so when I continued to complain about all our light fixtures, I'm sure you know the response I got. So, with inspiration from Better After and Dwelling By DeVore, I did this:

AND AFTER (and it only cost me $16 and change for the lamp shade and under $4 for the spray paint)...

And here's just some pics of my cute pup Hank, because he turned 8 months on Wednesday and I think he's just cute!!!

Blue White and Neutral Eat-In Kitchen

My kitchen has a similar layout to this one, except my eat-in area is much smaller and I'm not sure if I have room for an island. Also, I've already painting my walls a neutral color and have a chandelier that I'm redoing that is similar in shape and design as the one in the picture. And I plan on repainting my old 1979 cabinetry crisp and clean white. The only thing I don't like is the blue floral print on the chairs and window treatments. Thoughts??

How To Transform Foyer Light

Inspired by Dwellings By DeVore, that was featured on Better After, I decided to redo this light rather than buy a new one. My husband will be very happy I'm not going to buy something else for him to install too! But how should I go about this??
