If you are trying to stay consistent on social media, you have probably heard about using a social media planner. But what exactly is it, and how do you use one to actually grow your business in 2026?

What is a Social Media Planner?

A social media planner is a tool that helps you organise your content, schedule posts in advance and keep track of campaigns and goals.

Unlike a generic diary or notebook, a social media planner is designed with content creators and marketers in mind. It has space for:

Planning posts by week or month

Tracking goals and engagement

Noting ideas for campaigns and awareness days

Reviewing progress so you can adjust strategy

In 2026, planning ahead is essential. With so many platforms, formats and trends, businesses that plan are the ones that stay visible and consistent.

Why Use a Social Media Planner in 2026?

Consistency drives results. Social media now influences around 17% of global e-commerce sales, and regular posting builds the trust that leads to conversions.

Less stress. Knowing what to post in advance saves hours of last-minute scrambling.

Better quality. Planning ahead gives you time to create more thoughtful content.

Paper vs Digital Social Media Planners

Paper planners give you focus. Writing things down helps you commit, and seeing your week laid out on paper makes it easier to stay on track.

Digital planners give you flexibility. They can sync across devices, integrate AI and update awareness dates in real time.

How to Set Realistic Social Media Goals for Your Business in 2025

As we look ahead to 2025, it's the perfect time to start thinking about your social media goals for the new year. The key to success is finding a balance between ambition and realism. It’s easy to get carried away and set goals that sound amazing but aren’t practical for where your business is right now. The trick is to align your social media goals with your overall business objectives, and make sure they’re achievable with the time and resources you have. Let’s break it down.

First, take a look at where your business is currently and where you want to go. Are you looking to increase sales, grow your audience, or boost engagement? Whatever your focus, keep your goals clear and specific. Saying “I want more followers” is fine, but a more actionable goal would be something like “I want to increase my Instagram followers by 20% by the end of Q1.” It’s measurable and gives you a clear direction.

Now, let’s be real. We all want to grow fast, but setting goals that are too big can lead to overwhelm and burnout. Instead of aiming for the stars immediately, set smaller, realistic goals that you can build on as the year progresses. For example, if you’re juggling everything in your business solo, it’s okay to prioritise one platform instead of trying to master them all. Focus on where your audience is most active, and you’ll see more meaningful growth.

Once your goals are set, it’s time to plan how you’ll achieve them. This is where having a social media planner is going to save you so much time and stress. My 2025 Social Media Planner is designed to help you break down those big goals into actionable steps that fit into your daily, weekly, and monthly schedule. You can plan your content around key dates, track your progress, and adjust as needed to stay on course.

The planner also gives you space to reflect on what’s working and what’s not, so you’re constantly improving. You’ll be able to set realistic deadlines, map out your campaigns, and make sure your social media aligns with your business objectives without overwhelming yourself.

Remember, social media should support your business, not run it. By setting clear, realistic goals and sticking to a solid plan, you’ll be able to build a social media presence that grows with your business in 2025 – and beyond.

So, are you ready to start planning? Pre-order your 2025 Social Media Planner here and get ready to smash your goals!

We’ve all been there – feeling completely overwhelmed by the constant pressure of social media. Whether it’s trying to keep up with posting, engaging with your audience, or juggling everything else in your business, the stress can pile up fast. But here’s the thing: when social media starts to feel like a burden, that’s your cue to take a step back.

One of the best things you can do when the overwhelm hits is to step away from the laptop, close your business apps, and take a walk. Let creative inspiration come naturally. Sometimes, the best ideas appear when we’re not glued to a screen. So, take that walk, breathe in some fresh air, and allow your mind to wander. You might find that new content ideas or fresh ways to engage your audience pop into your head when you least expect it.

Once you’ve had that time away to reset, it’s time to sit down and work on your business, not just in it. This is where having a solid social media plan comes into play. Grab your 2025 social media planner, and start mapping out your goals and content for the upcoming year. The key is to stay ahead, so when things get busy, you’ve already got a strategy in place.

Planning ahead takes the pressure off day-to-day posting. Instead of scrambling for ideas, you’ll have a clear roadmap that aligns with your business goals.
Getting Ready for the Busy Season: Black Friday, Christmas, and Beyond – How Small Businesses Can Prep Their Social Media

With the festive season fast approaching, it’s time to start preparing your small business for the rush that comes with Black Friday, Christmas, and all the holiday excitement. If you haven’t started planning your social media strategy, don’t worry – there’s still time to get things on track. The key is to take a breath, get organised, and make sure your efforts are focused and intentional.

Start by thinking about what you want to achieve this season. Is it driving more sales? Getting more people to your website? Or maybe you’re looking to grow your social media following or increase engagement. Whatever your goals, setting them clearly will give you the direction you need. Once you’ve outlined these goals, it’s much easier to craft content that aligns with them and keeps your messaging consistent.

Creating a holiday campaign can also help give your social media a seasonal boost. Whether you’re running promotions, offering gift guides, or simply sharing festive cheer, a focused campaign will help your content stand out and build excitement. Think about how you want your brand to feel during this time – warm, fun, festive – and let that come through in everything from your visuals to your captions.

It’s so easy to get overwhelmed, especially during such a busy time of year. The secret to avoiding burnout is to get ahead by scheduling your content. Plan it all out now, so when things get hectic, your social media is ticking over nicely in the background. With your posts scheduled, you’ll have more freedom to focus on engaging with your customers and running your business smoothly. And don’t forget, if you’re feeling swamped, there’s no harm in asking for help. Friends, family, or even your most loyal customers can pitch in by spreading the word or helping you keep up with engagement.

Speaking of engagement, don’t lose sight of the fact that social media is a two-way street. The festive season is the perfect time to connect with your audience, so take time to respond to comments, ask questions, and create conversations. This kind of genuine interaction can help build trust and turn holiday shoppers into loyal, long-term customers.

And while the holidays may be the focus right now, it’s important to think ahead. What comes after Christmas? How can you maintain the momentum into the New Year? Keep that in mind as you plan, so you’re not scrambling when January rolls around.

In the end, preparing your social media for the busy season doesn’t have to be overwhelming. By planning ahead, aligning your content with your goals, and getting a little help where needed, you’ll be well on your way to a successful and stress-free holiday season.

Social Media Challenges of Small Businesses and How to Overcome Them

Let’s be honest, social media can be a massive challenge for small businesses. Between limited time, tight budgets, and juggling a million other responsibilities, keeping up with social media can easily slip down the list of priorities. But with the right approach, you can tackle these challenges head-on and make social media work for your business. Here are some common social media challenges for small businesses and, most importantly, how to overcome them.

1. Lack of Time? Automate Your Scheduling
Time is one of the biggest hurdles. You’re busy running your business, so finding time to post consistently can feel impossible. The solution? Automate. Use a social media planner to schedule posts ahead of time. Spend an hour or two each week planning and scheduling your content so it runs on autopilot. This frees you up to focus on other areas of your business.

2. Content Creation Overwhelm? Repurpose What You’ve Got
Creating fresh content all the time can be overwhelming. But here’s the thing – you don’t need to reinvent the wheel. Repurpose your content. Turn a blog post into a series of social media posts, create quote graphics from a recent article, or transform a customer review into a video. You’ll get more mileage from your content without the stress of constantly coming up with new ideas.

3. Struggling with Engagement? Lean on User-Generated Content
Getting your audience to engage can feel like an uphill battle. But remember, your community can be your biggest asset. Encourage your customers to share their experiences using your products or services. User-generated content not only gives you authentic promotion but also builds a sense of community around your brand. Plus, it’s content you don’t have to create yourself!

4. Unsure Where to Focus? Double Down on What Works
With so many social platforms, it can feel like you need to be everywhere. But here’s the truth – you don’t. Focus on the platforms where your audience is most active. Take a look at your analytics, and double down on the places bringing in the best results. It’s better to show up well in a few places than to spread yourself too thin.

5. Tight Budget? Invest in High-Quality Visuals
You don’t need a massive budget for professional designers. There are plenty of affordable tools available that can help you create polished, high-quality visuals that reflect your brand. Your visuals are often the first thing people notice, so it’s worth investing a bit of time into making sure they look on point.

6. Feeling Burnt Out? Set Boundaries
It’s easy to feel burnt out trying to stay on top of social media. But remember, it’s okay to take a step back. You don’t need to post every single day. Set realistic goals and boundaries that work for you. Social media should work for your business, not the other way around.

With a little bit of strategy, small businesses can overcome these social media challenges and start seeing real results. The key is to work smarter, not harder, and to use tools that help lighten the load.

You’ve got this!

How to Break Free From a Social Media Content Rut

If you're feeling stuck in a social media content rut, you're not alone. Creating fresh and engaging content consistently can be challenging, but it's essential for keeping your audience interested and growing your presence online. Let’s take a look at how you can reignite your creativity and push through those content blocks.

🎯 Revisit Your Goals

Often, a content rut stems from a loss of direction. It's crucial to revisit your yearly and monthly marketing objectives. What are you aiming to achieve? Whether it’s increasing engagement, boosting sales, or growing your follower count, clear goals will guide your content strategy and provide a renewed focus. Use this clarity to drive your content creation, ensuring every post moves you closer to your targets.

📝 Plan Your Content Meticulously

One of the most effective tools at your disposal is detailed planning. Use a social media planner with dedicated pages for mapping out each post, from initial ideas to final execution. This structured approach not only saves time but also ensures you cover a variety of topics and formats that appeal to your audience. Remember, a well-planned content calendar is your best defence against the dreaded content block.

👤 Understand Your Audience

Sometimes we forget who we’re talking to. Take time to redefine your customer avatar. Understanding your audience’s current interests, challenges, and behaviours is pivotal. This insight allows you to craft messages that resonate deeply, spark conversations, and strengthen your community ties. When you speak directly to the right people, your content naturally becomes more engaging and effective.

🗣️ Define and Refine Your Voice

Is your brand voice consistent? Does it reflect your business personality and brand guidelines? Your voice should be distinctive and resonate with your audience. If your content feels stale, consider tweaking your tone or experimenting with new content types that still align with your brand identity. Sometimes, a small shift in how you present your content can make a big difference.

📊 Track, Analyse, and Adapt

Keep a close eye on how your content performs. Which posts are hitting the mark, and which are missing? Use your social media planner to track key metrics like reach, engagement, and conversion. This data is invaluable for understanding what works and what doesn’t, allowing you to pivot and optimise your content strategy effectively.

🌈 Reaffirm Your Vision and Mission

Lastly, align your content with your brand’s core values and direction. Your social media should reflect what you stand for and where you’re headed. This alignment not only helps in maintaining consistency but also in building a brand that your audience trusts and supports over time.

Getting out of a content rut requires a mix of strategic thinking, creative experimentation, and consistent execution. By leveraging a structured approach like the one outlined in our Social Media Planner, you empower yourself to create meaningful and impactful content that captivates and converts.

Boost Your Etsy Sales: A Guide to Promoting Your Etsy Store on Social Media

Etsy is a popular platform for selling handmade, vintage, and unique items, but with millions of shops on the platform, standing out can be a challenge. Social media is a powerful tool for promoting your Etsy store and attracting new customers. In this blog post, we'll discuss strategies for using social media to promote your Etsy store and increase sales.

Choose the Right Platforms:

Not all social media platforms are equally effective for promoting an Etsy store. Focus on platforms that are popular among your target audience and allow you to showcase your products visually, such as Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook. Twitter can also be useful for sharing news and engaging with customers.

Showcase Your Products:

Visual content is key when promoting your Etsy store on social media. Share high-quality photos and videos of your products, highlighting their unique features and providing context for how they can be used. Create a visually appealing and cohesive aesthetic across your social media profiles to attract potential customers.

Use Hashtags Strategically:

Hashtags can help increase the visibility of your posts and attract users who are interested in your niche. Research popular and relevant hashtags in your industry and include them in your social media posts. Avoid using too many hashtags or irrelevant ones, as this can be off-putting to users.

Engage with Your Audience:

Interact with your followers and potential customers by responding to comments and messages, asking questions, and sharing user-generated content. Building relationships with your audience can help establish trust and encourage them to purchase from your Etsy store.

Collaborate with Influencers:

Partner with influencers who share your target audience and have a strong following on social media. Influencers can help promote your Etsy store and products by sharing them with their followers, increasing your brand visibility and credibility.

Run Promotions and Giveaways:

Offer discounts, promotions, or giveaways to encourage users to visit your Etsy store and make a purchase. Share these promotions on social media and ask users to share, like, or comment on your posts to increase their visibility.

Leverage Pinterest:

Pinterest is a powerful platform for driving traffic to your Etsy store. Create visually appealing pins featuring your products and link them directly to your Etsy listings. Organise your pins into relevant boards, use keywords and hashtags, and engage with other users by following, repinning, and commenting on their content.

Share Your Story:

Share the story behind your Etsy store and the creation of your products. This can help you connect with your audience on a personal level and create a sense of authenticity, making them more likely to purchase from your store.

Utilize Facebook Groups:

Join relevant Facebook groups where your target audience is active, and share your products and promotions with the group members. Ensure you follow group rules and avoid spamming, as this can lead to negative feedback or being removed from the group.

Track Your Results:

Use analytics tools on social media platforms to track the success of your promotional efforts. Identify which strategies are most effective and focus on those to optimise your social media marketing.

Promoting your Etsy store on social media can significantly increase your visibility and attract more customers. By implementing these strategies and using My Social Media Planner to plan and organise your content, you can create an engaging and effective social media presence that drives sales for your Etsy store.

Understanding these terms is essential for effectively managing your social media strategy and communicating with marketing professionals.

Organic Reach:

Paid Reach:

Paid reach is the number of people who see your content as a result of paid advertising, such as sponsored posts or social media ads. Paid reach can help you reach a larger audience, target specific demographics, and increase your overall visibility on social media platforms.

Engagement:

Engagement refers to the interactions your content receives on social media, such as likes, comments, shares, and clicks. High engagement is an indication that your content resonates with your audience and can help improve your organic reach.

CTA (Call-to-Action):

A call-to-action (CTA) is a prompt that encourages your audience to take a specific action, such as clicking a link, signing up for a newsletter, or making a purchase. Effective CTAs are clear, concise, and compelling.

ROI (Return on Investment):

Return on investment (ROI) is a measure of the effectiveness of your social media marketing efforts, calculated by comparing the revenue generated to the costs incurred. A positive ROI indicates that your social media strategy is generating more revenue than it costs.

In this blog post, we'll discuss the benefits of building a personal brand on social media and provide some tips for getting started.

Why Personal Branding Matters:

A personal brand is your unique professional identity that sets you apart from others in your field. It reflects your values, skills, and passions, and it can open doors to new opportunities, such as job offers, partnerships, or speaking engagements. Social media platforms offer an accessible and effective way to showcase your personal brand to a wide audience.

Choose the Right Platforms:

When building your personal brand on social media, it's important to choose the platforms that best align with your goals and target audience. Focus on platforms where your target audience is most active and where you can best showcase your skills and expertise. Popular platforms for personal branding include LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

Optimise Your Profiles:

Your social media profiles are the foundation of your personal brand. Ensure that your profiles are complete, up-to-date, and consistent across all platforms. Use a professional photo, craft a compelling bio, and include links to your website or portfolio.

Share Valuable Content:

Sharing high-quality, relevant content is key to building your personal brand on social media. Focus on creating and sharing content that showcases your expertise, provides value to your audience, and reflects your unique perspective. Mix in a variety of content types, such as articles, videos, images, and podcasts.

Engage with Your Audience:

Social media is a two-way street. Engage with your audience by responding to comments, asking questions, and sharing other people's content. Building relationships with your followers can help you create a loyal community around your personal brand.

User-generated content (UGC) refers to any content created by customers, fans, or followers, rather than by the brand itself. It can include reviews, testimonials, images, videos, or social media posts featuring a brand or its products. UGC is an incredibly valuable marketing asset for small businesses, as it offers social proof, builds trust, and encourages engagement. In this blog post, we'll discuss the effectiveness of UGC and provide tips for small business owners on how to generate UGC on social media.

The Effectiveness of User-Generated Content:

UGC offers several benefits for small businesses:

Authenticity: UGC is viewed as more authentic and trustworthy than branded content, as it comes from real customers sharing their experiences.

Social Proof: Seeing others using and enjoying a product or service can encourage potential customers to make a purchase.

Increased Engagement: UGC encourages interaction, as users are more likely to engage with content created by their peers.

Cost-Effective: UGC is an affordable way to source high-quality content, as the content is created by your audience at no cost to your business.

How to Generate User-Generated Content on Social Media:

Here are some tips for small business owners looking to generate UGC on social media:

a. Encourage Reviews and Testimonials:

b. Run Contests and Giveaways:

Host social media contests or giveaways that require participants to create and share content featuring your products or services. This can generate buzz around your brand and encourage users to share their experiences.

c. Feature Customer Stories:

Share customer success stories or case studies on your social media channels, and encourage your audience to submit their own stories for a chance to be featured. This not only showcases the value of your products but also builds a sense of community among your customers.

d. Collaborate with Influencers:

Partner with influencers who align with your brand values and target audience. Influencers can create content featuring your products, which can be shared across both their and your social media channels, reaching a broader audience and encouraging more UGC.

e. Create Shareable Content:

Develop content that your audience will want to share, such as infographics, how-to guides, or behind-the-scenes looks at your business. When your followers share your content, it increases your brand visibility and encourages others to create their own UGC related to your brand.

Examples of User-Generated Content on Social Media:

A fitness studio asks members to share their workout progress using a branded hashtag. The studio then reshare the posts, creating a sense of community and providing social proof of the studio's effectiveness.

Social media marketing is an essential tool for small businesses looking to build brand awareness, engage with their audience, and drive sales. However, navigating the world of social media can be challenging, and it's not uncommon for small business owners to make mistakes along the way. In this blog post, we'll discuss some of the most common social media mistakes small business owners make and provide tips on how to avoid them using My Social Media Planner.

Lack of a Clear Strategy:

One of the most common mistakes small business owners make is diving into social media without a clear strategy. Without setting goals, defining your target audience, and establishing a consistent brand voice, your efforts may fall flat.

How to Avoid: Use My Social Media Planner to outline your social media objectives, identify your target audience, and develop a cohesive brand voice. Regularly review and adjust your strategy based on performance metrics and audience feedback.

Inconsistency in Posting:

Inconsistency in posting frequency can lead to a disengaged audience and diminished brand visibility. Maintaining a consistent posting schedule is crucial for staying top of mind with your followers and building a strong online presence.

How to Avoid: Use My Social Media Planner to create a content calendar, plan your posts in advance, and ensure a consistent posting schedule across all your social media platforms.

Ignoring Engagement:

Failing to respond to comments, messages, or mentions can make your audience feel undervalued and lead to missed opportunities for building relationships and fostering brand loyalty.

How to Avoid: Dedicate time each day to monitor and respond to engagement on your social media platforms. Use My Social Media Planner's dedicated sections for tracking engagement to ensure you stay on top of your interactions and maintain strong relationships with your audience.

Overly Promotional Content:

Constantly promoting your products or services can be off-putting and lead to a disinterested audience. It's essential to strike a balance between promotional content and providing value to your followers.

How to Avoid: Follow the 80/20 rule – 80% of your content should provide value to your audience, while 20% can be promotional. Use My Social Media Planner to plan a diverse content mix that includes educational, entertaining, and engaging posts alongside promotional content.

Failing to Analyse Performance:

Neglecting to track and analyse the performance of your social media efforts can result in wasted resources and missed opportunities for growth.

How to Avoid: Regularly review your social media performance metrics to identify what's working and what's not. Use My Social Media Planner's analytics section to track your key performance indicators and make data-driven decisions to optimise your social media strategy.

Spreading Yourself Too Thin:

Trying to maintain a presence on every social media platform can be overwhelming and lead to a diluted brand message and inconsistent content quality.

How to Avoid: Focus on the social media platforms that are most relevant to your target audience and where you can best showcase your brand. Use My Social Media Planner to manage and organise your content across your chosen platforms effectively.

By avoiding these common social media mistakes and using My Social Media Planner to stay organised and strategic, small business owners can build a strong online presence, foster meaningful relationships with their audience, and drive business growth.
The Best of Both Worlds: Combining a Physical Social Media Planner with a Digital Scheduler for Maximum Efficiency

In today's digital age, many small business owners rely on digital schedulers like feedalpha to manage their social media content. However, there's still a strong case for using a physical social media planner in conjunction with a digital scheduler. In this blog post, we'll explore the benefits of combining a physical social media planner, like My Social Media Planner, with a digital scheduling tool like feedalpha to maximise efficiency and organisation in your social media marketing efforts.

Boost creativity with a physical planner:

A physical social media planner offers a tactile experience that can stimulate creativity and inspire fresh ideas. Jotting down ideas, brainstorming content themes, and sketching out visuals can be more effective when done by hand. Using My Social Media Planner provides a creative space for capturing and organising your thoughts, helping you develop engaging and innovative content for your social media channels.

Enhance focus and organisation:

Working with a physical planner allows you to see the big picture and concentrate on your overall social media strategy. It's an excellent tool for setting goals, tracking progress, and keeping your entire team on the same page. My Social Media Planner's undated format and dedicated sections for goals, analytics, and ideas help you stay organised and focused on your social media marketing efforts.

Reduce screen time and digital fatigue:

Constantly working on digital devices can lead to digital fatigue and negatively impact productivity. Incorporating a physical planner into your routine provides a break from screen time, reducing eye strain and helping you stay energised throughout the day. Additionally, using a physical planner can help minimise distractions from notifications and other digital interruptions.

Improve information retention:

Studies have shown that writing information by hand can improve memory retention compared to typing. Using a physical planner to jot down your social media goals, strategies, and content ideas can help you better internalise and remember your plans, increasing the likelihood of success in your social media marketing efforts.

Streamline scheduling with a digital tool like feedalpha:

While a physical planner offers numerous benefits, a digital scheduler like feedalpha streamlines the process of scheduling and publishing your social media content. feedalpha allows you to schedule posts in advance, ensuring your content is published at optimal times to maximise engagement. It also provides content suggestions and hashtag recommendations, simplifying the content creation process.

Analyse performance with digital metrics:

Digital schedulers like feedalpha offer robust analytics, enabling you to monitor the performance of your social media content and make data-driven decisions. Track engagement, follower growth, and other key performance indicators to fine-tune your social media strategy and achieve your marketing goals.

Combining a physical social media planner like My Social Media Planner with a digital scheduler like feedalpha offers the best of both worlds.
Social Media Content Plan vs. Strategy: Understanding the Difference for Small Business Success

Social media marketing is a vital component of small business success in today's digital landscape. However, many small business owners struggle to understand the difference between creating a social media content plan and developing a proper strategy for their social media marketing efforts. In this blog post, we'll explore the key differences between these two concepts and explain how small businesses can leverage My Social Media Planner to effectively implement both for maximum impact.

Social Media Content Plan: What Is It?

A social media content plan is a detailed outline of the content you intend to share on your social media channels. It includes the topics, formats, and posting schedule for each piece of content. A well-crafted content plan ensures that you consistently share high-quality, relevant, and engaging content that appeals to your target audience.

Key elements of a social media content plan include:

Content themes: Select themes that resonate with your target audience and align with your brand's values and goals.

Content formats: Choose the types of content you'll share, such as blog posts, videos, images, or polls.

Posting schedule: Determine how often you'll post on each social media platform and at what times to maximise engagement.

Social Media Marketing Strategy: What Is It?

A social media marketing strategy is a comprehensive plan that outlines your overall goals, objectives, and tactics for using social media to grow your business. It encompasses not only your content plan but also the various marketing tactics and activities you'll employ to achieve your desired results.

Key elements of a social media marketing strategy include:

Business goals: Define the specific objectives you want to achieve through social media, such as increasing brand awareness, driving website traffic, or generating leads.

Target audience: Identify your ideal customers and develop audience personas to guide your content creation and marketing tactics.

Platform selection: Choose the social media platforms that best align with your target audience and business goals.

Performance metrics: Determine the key performance indicators (KPIs) you'll use to measure the success of your social media marketing efforts.

How My Social Media Planner Helps Small Businesses Implement Both:

My Social Media Planner is a valuable tool for small businesses looking to effectively create and execute their social media content plans and marketing strategies. Here's how the planner can help you achieve success in both areas:

Plan and schedule content: Use the planner's monthly and weekly sections to outline your content themes, formats, and posting schedule. Stay organised and ensure you consistently share relevant and engaging content with your audience.

Set clear goals: Utilise the goal-setting section of the planner to outline your social media marketing objectives and track your progress towards achieving them.

Monitor performance: Track your social media performance using the analytics section of the planner. Regularly review your KPIs and adjust your strategy accordingly to maximise your results.

Collaborate with your team: If you work with a team, use the planner to assign tasks, track progress, and share notes, ensuring everyone is on the same page and working efficiently.

Understanding the difference between a social media content plan and a marketing strategy is crucial for small business success. By leveraging My Social Media Planner, small business owners can effectively implement both their content plans and marketing strategies to grow their online presence and achieve their business goals. Invest in My Social Media Planner today and take your social media efforts to the next level.

In this blog post, we'll explain how small businesses can create and repurpose content efficiently and use My Social Media Planner to stay organised and consistent.

Identify evergreen content for repurposing:

Once you've pinpointed your evergreen content, brainstorm ways to repurpose it into various formats, such as videos, infographics, or social media posts.

Transform long-form content into bite-sized pieces:

Take your long-form content, like blog posts or whitepapers, and break them down into smaller, easily digestible segments. For instance, turn a blog post's key points into a series of social media posts or create an infographic summarising the main ideas.

Turn user-generated content into promotional material:

User-generated content, such as customer reviews or testimonials, can be repurposed as promotional material on your website or social media platforms. Share positive customer experiences or highlight user-created content showcasing your products or services.

Convert video or audio content into written form:

If you have video or audio content, like webinars or podcasts, transcribe them into blog posts or articles. This allows your audience to consume the information in different formats and expands your content library.

Update and refresh outdated content:

Review your older content and update it with new information or insights. Refreshing outdated content helps maintain its relevance and extends its lifespan, giving you more opportunities to share it on your social media channels.

Use My Social Media Planner to organise and schedule your content:

4 Creative Ideas to Level Up Your Content This Festive Season

The festive season is a great time to diversify and get creative with your content. With more of your audience now at home, during the second UK lockdown and with the Christmas holidays quickly approaching, the festive season is a great way to capture people’s attention, increase your engagement, and create truly memorable content. We’ve put together four ideas to inspire you to level up your content game this year, including examples from some of the top-performing brands at Christmas time. Let’s get planning!

Interactive and User-Generated Content

With the evenings getting darker and people spending more time on social media, you can seize the opportunity to create content that your audience can actively engage with. This will not only encourage user-generated content, supplementing your own content schedule for weeks to come, but also keep you relevant and memorable in a particular content-saturated period on social media.

One brilliant example is Starbucks’ 2017 Christmas social media campaign which saw them create a #WhiteCupChallenge, encouraging users across the US and Canada to create their own designs on their coffee cups and post them on social media. Starbucks, who often run marketing campaigns like this very successfully, then posted this user-generated content on their own social media. So, if you’re struggling for unique content ideas this festive season, posting some interactive content could be a great way of generating a stream of innovative and one-of-a-kind content for your brand.

If you don’t have the option of sending out products for your customers to personalise, or your business just doesn’t really lend itself to this kind of user-generated content, why not try creating content that your customers can simply relate to? For example, Primark made the most of the cosy season drawing in this year with a “which Primark pyjamas are you based on your star sign?” social media post. This kind of personalised content that users themselves can relate to, or that they can involve their friends and family in, encourages high levels of engagement and shows your brand’s relevance and creativity.

“How-To” Guides

Content that provides value or teaches your audience how to do something is a great way of engaging them and getting them into the festive mood! No matter what your brand offers, the demands of your audience, or the kind of content that typically does well on your social media pages, “how-to” content is easy to implement and can be incredibly effective.

Pret A Manger, for example, recently posted a recipe and cooking tutorial across their social media channels on how to “make your own Melting Melvin”, reminding their audience to “tag us in your own creations”. The post saw high levels of engagement on socials and, interestingly, showcased the cafe chain’s thoughtful brand values, as the recipe didn’t actually promote any of their own products (although they do sell their own Melting Melvins in their stores).

But it doesn’t have to be a recipe or food-related content at all (although it is a good way to grab the attention of your audience). You can choose “how-to” content that really resonates with your audience and your brand values. So, for example, you could create a make-up tutorial, a set of instructions to make something arts-and-crafty, or even a step-by-step guide to managing your finances around Christmas. Just be true to your brand and have fun with it!

Special Date Countdown

We all love a Christmas countdown - you might even have your own countdown in your social media content planner! So why not integrate this idea into your social media content? Of course, you don’t necessarily need to post a countdown update every single day (especially if you’re planning to countdown for a long period of time), but keeping your audience updated and showing that you share their excitement for special dates is a great way to engage them. And it doesn’t have to be exclusively Christmas we’re talking about here. For example, if you know that a large proportion of your audience celebrate Diwali in November, or perhaps New Year’s Eve is a particularly significant date in your community, then a countdown to these dates may be more effective and impactful for your particular social media audience.

Informative and Supportive Content

With 2020 being such a turbulent and unpredictable year, the festive season is going to be a little different this time around - that’s just inevitable. But, as a brand, there are things you can do to adapt to this change in the mood and priorities of your audience. Earlier this year, Twitter Marketing conducted research into how people are feeling about the festive period in 2020 and what they’re looking for in the brands and social media marketing they choose to consume. They found that the top three tone of voice recommendations from people this Christmas was for brands to be: positive, informative, and supportive.

They also found that users are placing a lot of value on useful information from brands around the measures they’re taking to minimise the risk of COVID-19. H&M did this, for example, at the start of lockdown in March, when they announced that they would be letting global aid organisations utilise their large and influential social media platforms to share messages about health and safety around the virus. While you may not be able to implement something of this scale, there are plenty of ways that you can use your platform to spread positivity and information, such as supporting mental health charities, creating content that communicates motivational quotes or stories, or organising spaces online for your community to interact and support one another during lockdown.

Basically, wherever and however you can make your content positive, thoughtful, and kind this festive season, try and do so!
