She is very active in all our special moments when i got my vacation for two months in the Philippines because I'm working abroad to give her needs. Alexandra is our special child even she has a health condition of being a special we love and protect her always.

This coming August 28, 2012 we will celebrate the 4th birthday of my daughter. We are very much happy to the result of her development. Even she is suffering from being a Special Child or so called Down Syndrome, for us we never treated her different from other child.

As a father of Alexandra I'm here in abroad working trying to get us much as possible a good amount of salary to give a good medication for her development. I'm always praying to our Lord God please give her a good health and always protect her from danger.

We are always here for you baby Alexandra we love you so much.

Thanks for all the person who depend and fight Josh from criticizing being a Down Syndrome. I like this video because it help me a lot how to encourage people to accept our Down Syndrome baby and someday my baby Alexandra meet Josh in person.

Baby Abegail Let's Help this baby

I'm totally worried about the situation of baby Abegail when i read the message of one of the member in DSAPI (Down Syndrome association of the Philippines Incorporated). I don't know why i'm creating like this but as father of having a baby of down syndrome my disappointment is there when i read the message of a concern citizen.

I cannot help more than anything to Baby Abegail only like this i can do. To share this message and spread to everyone that abandonment is not the answer. Maybe one good person will read this and reply to my website to take care this situation.

Having a baby with down syndrome is gift by our lord GOD and test you how you can handle this situation. Don't ever judge urgently so that you can feel to your self why God give you this kind of test. I'm sure many of the parent with down syndrome child is a good person that why God give this.

Always remember that when there's a problem solution will be there and answer for this is to accept and realize how important having a baby with Down Syndrome..

God Bless all and always take care our child...

  We parents of DS kids might be able to understand how and why the parents of Abby left her alone, this is heart breaking for us, yet I am thinking that it is somehow not so easy for the parents of Abby; they have much courage to made this decission leaving Abby, but unfortunately so sad they don't have enough courage to stand with their responsibilities and accept Abby. You know that it takes a stronger Faith to be able to Love the unpretty gifts in our eyes, unconciously precious from GOD. Abby with her innocent life now might be an awakening light who could guide us, specially to parents and people who knew her story. Philippines - A few hours after MALU TIONGSON-Ortiz gave birth to Clarissa in 1987, a pediatrician told her that the child had Down Syndrome. Her physical features such as low-set and deformed ears, slanted eyes, small nose, low nasal bridge and straight crease on her palm, all pointed to such a conclusion, the doctor said.
Down Syndrome, also called Trisomy 21, is a condition in which extra genetic material causes delays in the way a child develops, both mentally and physically. The condition was discovered by Dr. John Langdon Down, after whom it has been named.
Ortiz wished the doctor was mistaken. "I questioned God over and over. Why me, Lord? What have I done to deserve this?" She then asked a doctor to do a battery of tests on Clarissa. A week later, the results confirmed Clarissa's condition. "It was a relief in a way because I realized I had to start somewhere," Ortiz says.

Ortiz now strongly believes "God had a purpose for her in our lives."
The youngest in a brood of three, Clarissa is multi-handicapped. She was diagnosed to have moderate to severe mental retardation due to her inability to hear. Her left ear is severely to profoundly deaf, while her right ear is moderately to severely deaf. She is unable to speak.
She was also born with a left leg that is two inches shorter than her right leg, causing her hip to hurt when walking for a long time. Her muscles and ligaments in her left foot have stiffened permanently in a tiptoe position.
According to a psychiatrist, Clarissa's mood swings and occasional bursts of rage are due to a condition called bipolar (a mood disorder).
Despite Clarissa's condition, her mother has learned many lessons from her. "While I was teaching her ABC's and 123's, she was teaching me the greater things in life-unconditional love, patience, perseverance, contentment and simplicity," Ortiz says. "Because of her, I was drawn closer to God. She is one of God's greatest gifts to our family."
Homeschooling

After Clarissa finished Special Education, she started homeschooling in 2005. "She progressed a lot. She's exposed to regular and special needs kids of all ages. The regular kids, in turn, learn how to deal with children with special needs. It works both ways," Ortiz says. "Through homeschooling, I discovered her talent in visual arts."
Clarissa's subjects are her mother, father and two brothers, Carlo, who's working for a car company, and Paulo, a law student. "Drawing has been her way of communicating with us," Ortiz says.
Her oil pastels and acrylic paintings feature people with big ears and open mouths. "That's her way of expressing she can't speak or hear," Ortiz says.
Sign language, "scrapbooking," independent living and "more adult" activities like going to the grocery are now part of Clarissa's homeschooling. But what she loves most are watching concerts and plays, aerobics, ballroom dancing and walking in the park.
For Ortiz, homeschooling is an investment for Clarissa's future. "We surely do not want to spend the rest of our lives with an ill-mannered, selfish, skill-less, unhappy, disabled adult. I may not be with Clarissa all her life so I do not want her to become a burden to her siblings. Homeschooling has made me realize that I am the best teacher for her."
There are numerous benefits for home-educated children with special needs, Ortiz adds. "My daughter learned at her own pace and her needs were met properly. She also has the opportunity for successful learning experiences which motivate her to keep on trying when she encounters difficult concepts," she says. "We were able to instill our own personal and spiritual values into our teaching. Our time was flexible and there was no wasted learning time. Instruction was individualized. She had quantity time with our family and less time spent away from home."
Book launch

Ortiz, an interior designer, has stopped working to be a full-time mom. A board member of the Down Syndrome Association of the Philippines, she does family and spiritual counseling. At times, she accepts design projects and teaches art classes with friends Emy Dee and Marissa Yang.
Ortiz's book, "Embracing God's Purpose for My Special Child," was launched at the Manila International Book Fair in Mall of Asia.
Published by OMF Literature Inc., the book features Clarissa and other inspirational stories of parents with special children, "biblical parenting," adolescence and sexuality, medical and health issues and planning for special children.
"Special children are like angels sent by God to us for a special mission. Clarissa is God's instrument for me and Claro to mold our characters and make us better people. Through her, God taught me to be the mom I never thought I could ever be," Ortiz says.

At first, we don't expect to have another baby after (1st) miscarriage, after 2 years I was conceive for (2nd) with 3-months complete bed rest for my Kyla Christelle that also leads to CS delivery with post eclamsia..... due these scenarios of my pregnancies, my husband and I agreed not to have another baby after Kyla for us to recover financially and also especially for my health...

After another 2 years, I felt I am conceived again and thought for a good blessing since I don't felt any problems and abnormalities with this offspring inside my womb with it's first six (6) months , I was able to work without any hesitations and fear because I felt that my baby is safe and strong....

In his 6 1/2 period, bleeding exist that triggers us again to visit and be confined in the hospital... until they found out that my pregnacy state was in .... placenta privia accreta.... then I was confined again...completely with continous dextose and time comes that I need to have a blood transfusion to recover on my bleeding...which is also a dilemma because I need a type-B RH (-) blood. ... still with continuous monitoring, my baby is still strong and kicking....even he is in Polyhydramnios that also needs amnioreduction to help reduce contraction and pre-term labor...but bleeding still continuous that even his placenta comes with the blood for almost two (2) months in the hospital....... In here, decision from my husband was been asked... me or my baby...but our baby was giving signs that he's fighting and kicking and this not prevented him to be delivered thru CS at his 7 1/2 month... and our Rh incompatibility was not yet detected until we are all surprised for his status.... they diagnosed my baby having Trisomy-21... We named our baby Lloyd Emmanuelle for his a gift and GOD really with us,,,,we sent him to Adventist's hospital (Manila) for additional check-up and studies on his case,,still even the Genetics gave the result of positivity... Hardship for acceptance comes in between,,, but this is reality that we must embrace and accept with happiness and pure heart...and we must go on and help him survive... After a year, epilepsy was detected with symptoms and signs, he was then again treated and have maintenance for prevention.... but this was not yet stop there.....a pneumonia follows after a year, he need to undergo X-ray... then the X-ray says, not only pneumonia, but a Diaphragmatic Hernia that is as big as a 10Php coin, we were adviced to go to San Juan de Dios for there he will be diagnosed more by an specialist in pediatric and neuro-surgeon... all they can say was "kung gusto nyo ipagpaliban ang operation, nasa inyo un...kung gusto nyong ndi n lng makahinga ang bata", ...... "GOD, we don't have enough resources for these continuous trials of yours"....We cried and prayed for any signs from GOD... I resigned from my employer and grab the recession offer to have the money, donations comes from my husband's employer and of course from our family....and they never fails to support us, physically, mentally and spiritually,, for there was a time that we almost fail from our faith... At PGH, Manila operation was been successful! GOD knows how we are thankfull and it flows until now.... Happiness and Joy filled our hearts as he turned four (4) years old... now, he is the most jolly, sweet and happy baby in our family...as he continue his journey and fight in his life, we understand that, as being his parents, we must also be that strong ....patience must be more stretch and strengthen and never fails...love him as much as we could...learn and also teach others to accept what he is, as his Ate KC did to him... So much thankfull for my husband who never gave up, even he wanted to...I love you.. I know that I am not alone with these experience, someone can relate to someone, and I share this to all for us to understand more how life goes on and would go on...I am not that religious person but I know and understand how powerful GOD is and FAITH never fails us specially when we are in need...LOVE them even they are unexpected... for they cannot replace the happiness and joy they could bring and they will made you feel a different feeling that can never be compared...........as his stories continues.....:)

Alexandra in Philippine General Hospital

From the final check up of her diagnostic in Philippine General Hospital. Sadly the Doctor say she having a Congenital Heart Disease that why she always feel not in good condition. We are worried about the news because she is under go from heart operation. We need some prayers from all of you guys and we need some help from her treatment. We are hoping to GOD give her strength and power to survive from her sickness.

Papa Alex and Mama Mona are trying our very best to give you anything you want because we love you Alexandra.......

This day November 18, 2010 my wife and my daughter Alexandra went to PGH (Philippine General Hospital) for the final check up of her analysis in her status but sadly the doctor say " We need to give her an operation in heart because she have an excess vein that we need to remove that why she suffering from different kind of sickness. I'm very sad about the news but that's is life we cannot face the problem without any solution it's better to know the real cause of her sickness. It's very hard for me because i'm not in the Philippines that's why i'm very upset today. For my Daughter Alexandra we love you so much. Papa Alex and Mama Mona are trying our very best to give all you need that's we support you. I Miss you Baby Alexandra
