We also put together a lapbook of various printouts that I had accumulated. I know of a couple sites where I got the information from. I would like to personally thank Home school Creations, 1+1+1=1, Raising Rock Stars Preschool & Kindergarten, Webkinz, and a few other minor sites. My sons enjoyed learning all about frogs. My daughter enjoyed the pictures of the frogs.
Quick and easy homeschool record keeping and time tracking

I recently got a chance to review and download a Homeschool Day Book to help keep track of their daily attenence and what the did their assignments. This day book is good for keeping track of the attendance and what the did, unfortunately no pictures can be added to the entries for a visual proof.

this is where ou can add the daily attendance by adding book entries on each subject and child to keep logs. As ou can see from the entr, I have recorded for m 3 yr old son's prewriting assignment.

I see this program is great for any form of homeschooling, even with the use of an online virtual school, this program is nice to keep track of any supplaments that you may add to their regular assignments. I can print off a printout of what they did and then send it into their teacher for credit since I use K12 for my children's main schooling. I can also add field trips to this log to help keep track of places we go for school.

this is the moonthly view of the attendance. As you see on the 20, I have recored atendance for three of my children.

It first shows up to allow 7 children in the beginning steps, but after I finished the two steps, I was able to add more children to the manage Kids section,

I have added my 7 children to this program, but it will allow me to add more. I have added my daughter into the log (she is 2 yrs old).

I was able to add to the subjects after I accepted the general list of subjects. I was also able to add special subjects for my toddler/preschooler so I can keep track of what the do along with their siblings. I like being able to record what the younger ones are doing so that it gives me a visual log of their progress. I can also add Unit studies to the subjects too.

THis is the subject area. As you can see in the list, I have added letters and coloring for my younger two children.I will also add Occupational Therapy for them where they will be learning cutting, beading, sizing, etc.

The last part of this program is the printing capabilities. With this program, I can printout a specific day or period to show proof of their attendance. I can choose either all of the kids or just 1 child and then I choose either one subject or a particular subject..

I have found this program to be useful and it also tames the paper tiger with not having to print out a new log sheet. I like the fact that I can keep logs of their attendance in one place and not worr about printing out sheets daily.

I would recomend this program for anone who is homeshooling any type of schooling. I feel that its beneficial to everyone. If ou are a homeschooling parent, you too can download this programm and try it out. If you like it and give it a review on your blog, they will give you the permenat code to allow to use it forever.
I found the "GINGERBREAD BABY", "GINGERBREAD MAN", "GINGERBREAD MOUSE", and we learned about the history about gingerbread houses. They also worked on their lap book that I created from a frew printable that I found on numerous websites.(I explained further about the lap book next.) We made peppermint hot chocolate with a candy cane. We are going to make both a paper gingerbread house and also a gingerbread mini house out of graham crackers and peanut butter as glue, marshmellow christmas trees, and sugar free candy. I will take pictures this weekend after they are made.

I know my household is on a tight budget, and we are always trying to find new ways to get the message across to our children in a fun way. I love lap books, but those vanilla file folders are not cheap. I have found a way to use those cheap three prong 2 pocket folders. At the beginning of the school year's back to school sales, you can get these folders very cheap. I have seen them as cheap as five cents each.

What I do is take two of these folders, either cut off one side or use both and tape them in the middle where the prongs are. I currently used one for my son's Gingerbread man/baby lap book theme. I had found some wonderful units, themes, lap book, and miscellaneous printables to put into this lap book. I have also laminated everything in the lap book so that it can be reused by my sons and even in the future by my daughter(she is only 1 yrs right now). I love for the fact that I can place these neatly in a hanging file folder with other printables for that theme, including crafts and projects.

This gingerbread lap book has a puzzle (removable pieces) on the front with their name plate on it, then on the first opening there is a house with the gingerbread baby inside the door (stuck on with Velcro (removable), the Upper & lower alphabet recognition cards, gingerbread man counting book, two questions pertaining to a gingerbread story book, making patterns, and animals in the book recognition. Then the next section has the Gingerbread Baby game from Jan Brett, colors and shapes sorter cards, gingerbread man spelling cards, worksheets (prewriting, gingerbread G tracer pages, another pattern recognition sheet, Size sequencing cards, and Eating a gingerbread man order of sequence cards (gingerbread men are stuck on with velcro to place all pieces on the table for the child). On the back I got a blank gingerbread man and I wrote the instructions for my sons to take 4 objects of different sizes and to trace around the outside of the gingerbread man and see how many it will take, and then to graph their results. I have found that I can get a lot more on these folders then I can with the file folder idea. I also like the idea of having the two pockets in the folder to house the worksheets and booklets.

This lapbook cost me the time to pint out the sheets, the lil ink for the printer, about 20 laminating pouches (6.99 for 50 at BJ's warehouse), two 3 prong pocket folder (free- had them among my supples), clear shipping tape, and a child eager to learn.

I started out with my younger two sons with a theme "P is for pumkins" from confessions of a homeschooler's website. They learned the letter 5 and the color orange. I also enforced my older sons math with adding and subtracting pumpkins and the younger one counted them.

The next week we did "T is for Turkey" from 1+1+1=1's website. They had fun practing the color brown and the number 1. They had fun drawing turkeys, did a hand print turkey with finger pilgrims, learned abut the turkey, and the reason turkey is popular at thanksgiving.

For the next two weeks, we did a thanksgiving theme that I got from 2 mommies. THis theme was so cute. They learned the letters M, T, P, the same numbers 1 & 5, and the colors brown and orange. they did more crafts and learned about the history of thanksgiving.

For thanksgiving, we had a meal at home with my mom, husband, and children. We ate turkey, collard greens, homemade stuffing, glazed carrots, green beans, cranberry, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, and then I had gourmet seasoned mushrooms and asparagus. I also made pumpkin and cheesecake pies for both dairy free and regular diets.

Normally on black Friday we put the tree up as a tradition, but this year we are a little bit behind schedule. I am hoping to get it up this week. I put out all of my snowmen and chistmas village.

FREE History Posters

I have four fmily members that can not eat anything with dairy in it, so I have learned to cook from scratch. Two of my family members are children.

Prepare topping. Mix melted margarine with panko crumbs until evenly coated and sprinkle over macaroni and cheese. Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes. Serve while warm.
My stuggles with these words so much, and with these being the mostly used words among the sight word's list, I decided to make something fun for him to remember and practice these words in a way.

3/4 cup sugar

1/3 cup flour

3 egg yolks, beaten

2 Tbsp. non-hydrogenated margarine

1 1/4 tsp. vanilla

4 bananas, sliced

1 9-inch pie crust, baked

2 cups Silk Vanilla, Original or DHA Omega-3 & Calcium

PREPARATION

In a saucepan, combine the sugar, flour and salt. Gradually add the Silk while whisking gently. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture is bubbly. Keep stirring and cook for about 2 more minutes.
Remove from heat and immediately whisk a small quantity of the hot mixture into the beaten egg yolks to “temper” them, then transfer the tempered yolks back to the saucepan, whisking constantly. Return to the heat and cook for 2 more minutes while stirring. Remove from the heat, add the margarine and vanilla, and stir until smooth.
Arrange the sliced bananas on the bottom of the baked pie crust, then top with the pudding mixture. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, until thoroughly chilled.
From traditional calendar to calendars that feature popular collectibles and themes, there is a calendar for everyone. The origin of the calendar, like so many of our Christmas traditions, started in Germany in the 19th century. Different methods of counting down the days to the celebration of Christmas were used.

Drawing a chalk line to mark off the days, later lighting a candle every night or putting up small religious pictures marked each day until Christmas. The first printed calendar was produced by Gerhard Lang in Germany. When he was a child, his mother attached little candies to a piece of cardboard and each day Gerhard would take one off. His first (printed) calendar consisted of miniature colored pictures that would be attached to a piece of cardboard each day in December. Later Advent calendars were made with little doors to open on each day. The child might find a small piece of candy, a Christmas picture, a religious picture or a bible verse.

The German calendars were sold until World War II, at which time production was stopped due to the war shortages. After the war, the production of calendars resumed in 1946 by Richard Selmer. Selmer credits President Eisenhower with helping the tradition grow in the United States during his term of office. A newspaper article at the time showed the Eisenhower grandchildren with The Little Town Advent calendar. His company still produces calendars today and can be ordered online. Check out the online museum to see some of their early designs.

The first Advent calendars were based on 24 days with Christmas Eve as the last night to either put up a picture or take a candy. Today, the traditional German calendars still show 24 days, but in the United States, it's not uncommon to also find ones with 25 days -- the last opening to occur on Christmas Day.
Advent Calendars can be found everywhere Christmas is celebrated and have been made with many different themes. There are permanent ones with little drawers that are opened every day, felt pieces to decorate a tree, religious icons behind the different doors and lots of pop-culture/character Advent calendars. The traditional ones are still a paper/cardboard piece with a small treasure behind the doors. The treasures can range from a beautiful miniature religious picture, perhaps a little wooden toy or even a piece of candy (sure to cause problems when there is more than one child in the household).

In our family we have a tradition that dates back to 1969, when I found a wooden tree Advent Calendar. There are painted wooden ornaments and each day another ornament is chosen to be added to the tree. On Christmas day, the star tree topper is finally added. The tree has grown a little shabby and the ornaments are getting tattered, but it's still a tradition looked forward to every December.

It's not to late to start a tradition like this for your family, one that will become a real treasure in the years to come. I found these wonderful crafts that are for all ages (plus 2 yr olds).

These instructions will teach you how to make an advent calendar or two. Choose from a large selection of patterns! You can make fabric advent calendars, paper advent calendars, and so many others using these free craft projects. Waiting for Christmas Day to arrive can be tough. The anticipation of Santa's visit, family gatherings, and special gifts can make each day seem like an eternity, especially for kids. Something we have always used to help make the wait for Christmas a bit easier to handle is an advent calendar. The word advent originated from a Latin word meaning 'arrival'. With an advent calendar, you countdown each day until Christmas in a special way. You usually start the countdown on December 1st, but you can design your advent calendar to start on any day you like. Here are some advent calendars you can make to help you with the countdown to that special day.
I had him learning with that caterpiller idea where a new word is added and he can watch the body grow, but he lost interest in that real quick. SO, for now I am onto a new idea with dite words, a growing flower garden. Right now we have one flower growing, and it has not budded yet. ;o)

I went onto the internet to search for ideas from fellow teachers and homeschoolers for suggestions and ideas to help him to learn them. I cam across this website called SPARKLEBOX.COM (ALL FREE). THey had other ideas for site words, but I thought that this one was kinda fun to watch and learn at the same time. I just love the idea that as my son learns new words he can watch the flower grow until it gets a bloom. I printed out the leaves and flower and then I laminated them for more stability. (gotta love the laminator). The flowers are growing in front of our Homemade apple tree that is being used for our character education.

The apples look like this... I only will show a couple, but I will post the link to share the apples as my sons learn them. I downloaded the editable red apples on sparklebox.com and replaced the letters that were there with the character words. I will cut these out individually and then laminate them for more duribility. Then I can just tape them onto the tree. I have found that I can teach this to all of my children, and I know that it won't hurt starting out at a young age.
I designed this for my sons to help them to remember their numbers and to make it more fun to learn them. I first got a basic shape and enlarged it in MS Paint. Then I printed out this fish as a stencil and then traced multiple fish onto different colored construction paper. I have made 100 fish since I would like my son to learn up to 100 in counting. As we learn a new one, we will tape them onto the fish bowl. So far they have learned 5 from five little pumpkins and then we are starting on 1 for a turkey.
