While searching for the remains of Noah’s Ark on Mount Ararat in Eastern Turkey, a Chinese-Turkish exploration team successfully excavated and ventured inside a large wooden structure at an elevation of more than 4,000m above sea level. Wood specimens were dated as 4,800 years old. Officials of Turkish government and Cultural Ministries highly regarded the finds and jointly announced the discovery with the exploration team in Hong Kong. They planned to submit an application for the wooden structure to be included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. A mutual agreement for further co-operation was signed and the Hong Kong team members were recognized as Honorable Citizens of Agri Province, Turkey. In the press conference on April 25, Consul General of Turkey, Mr. Mehmet Raif Karaca, was invited to come and support the great achievements of the exploration team in the aspect of the search for Noah’s Ark.

Miracles Of The Quran - Hemoglobin and Iron

At the time the Qur’an was revealed, nobody was aware of the molecule hemoglobin and there was no such medical term in existence. Hemoglobin, which transports oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood in our bodies and that gives blood its red color, was only discovered in the 19th century. Hemoglobin forms thanks to the element iron (Fe) in our bodies and is of vital importance to the performance of vital functions.

The element iron (Fe) present in the middle of hemoglobin binds itself to oxygen and thus carries oxygen in the blood. For that reason, the hemoglobin molecule can be considered together with the element iron. In verse 25 of Surat al-Fath, the letters comprising the words Fe (iron) and hemoglobin miraculously appear side by side. In addition, the letters comprising hemoglobin do not appear side by side in any other verse. This exceptional circumstance is one of the proofs of the Creation of Almighty Allah, the Lord of the past and future, He who is unfettered by time.

As in the rest of the world, Islam is in the midst of a rapid growth in Europe. This development has been attracting more attention in recent years, as evidenced by the many theses, reports, and articles published on "the place of Muslims in Europe" and "dialogue between European society and Muslims." Along with these academic reports, the media has carried frequent reports about Islam and Muslims. The root of this interest lies in the continual growth of Muslim population figures in Europe, and that this increase cannot be ascribed solely to immigration. While immigration certainly has had a significant effect on the Muslim population's growth, so many researchers have addressed this matter for quite another reason: high conversion rates.

The Roman Catholic Church, headquartered in Vatican City, is one of the institutions that follows conversion trends. One of the main topics during the October 1999 meeting of the European synod, which was attended by almost all of the Catholic clergy, was the Church's position in the new millennium. The conference's main theme was the rapid growth of Islam in Europe. The National Catholic Reporter reported that some radical individuals stated that the only way to prevent Muslims' gaining power in Europe was to stop tolerating Muslims and Islam; other more objective and rational individuals underscored the fact that since the two religions believe in one God, there should be no room for any conflict or struggle between them. In one session, Archbishop Karl Lehmann of Germany stressed that there is more internal pluralism within Islam than many Christians perceive, and that the radicals' claims about Islam had no basis in truth.

Considering the position of Muslims when elucidating the Church's position in the new millennium was quite proper, for a 1999 United Nations' survey showed that between 1989 and 1998, Europe's Muslim population grew by more than 100 percent.Today, about 13 million Muslims live in Western Europe: 3.9 million in Germany, 3.3 million in Britain, 7.5 million in France, and the rest in other countries.

Relevant research also has revealed that while the number of Muslims in Europe continues to grow, there is a deepening of religious awareness among Muslims. According to a survey conducted by the French newspaper Le Monde in October 2001, compared to data collected in 1994, many Muslims continue to perform their prayers, go to the mosque, and fast. This awareness is seen much more among university students.

In an Aktuel magazine article, which was based on reports in the foreign press, Western researchers said that Europe would become one of the most important centers for the dissemination of Islam about 50 years later.

Along with this sociological and demographic research, we also must not forget that Europe has not become acquainted with Islam only recently, but that Islam is actually an inseparable part of Europe.

According to him, Bosnia-Herzegovina is one of the best examples of the blending of Western and Islamic cultures.

Preparations Have Begun To Make Islam An Official Religion in Sweden

Today, approximately 5% of the French population is Muslim. Islam, now France's second largest religion, is attracting the attention of the French media.

Research shows that there are more than 300,000 Muslims in Sweden, whose total population is about 10 million, and the government and people are very accepting of them. Last year, the government made a special allocation of funds to translate the Qur'an into Swedish for them and to build a big mosque where they can worship comfortably. Along with these projects, another fund has been established to support schools that provide Islamic education. In addition, there is now an initiative to make Islam an officially recognized religion.

At the beginning of the 1990s, Belgium had about 285,000 Muslims; by 1998, there were 350,000 Muslims. This is 2.5% of the Belgian population. There are now 240 places of Islamic worship in Belgium, and Islam continues to grow rapidly.1 Today, Belgium has more Muslims than Protestants and Jews, and is the second largest religious community after Catholicism. The Belgian government has always been well-disposed toward Belgian Muslims and, as early as 1974, passed a law to protect their freedom of belief and worship. According to this law, Muslims are as free as Catholics, Protestants, and Jews to practice and teach their religion. One of its most important provisions deals with teaching Islam in state schools. At present, Belgium has about 700 Muslim teachers in state schools. They receive salaries and expenses from the government. The Belgian government also covers the cost of building worship centers and hiring clergy. This support allows Islam to spread, and is indicated by the opening of the Genk Yunus Emre Mosque on January 28, 2002. Mayor Jef Gabriels, who attended the opening, considered this day a holiday, and the vicar Jan Boonen expressed his thoughts as follows: "There's a house, people live in it; there's a house, a hospital is being built; there's a house, a bank is being built. But this house is a different house. This is God's house, and we come here only to bow down to him."21. An Italian Ambassador Becomes A Muslim

The Western press and news agencies were attracted by Torquato Cardilli's, Italian ambassador to Saudi Arabia, conversion to Islam. Above we see a Reuters' report entitled "Rome's Envoy to Saudi Arabia Converts to Islam." Actually, Torquoato Cardilli was the second ambassador who converted to Islam. Before him, Ambassador Mario Scialoja also had converted to Islam. Having converted when he was Rome's permanent ambassador to the United Nations, Scialoja was later appointed ambassador to Saudi Arabia. Cardilli had spent many years in Muslim countries, and his conversion shows once again the rapid growth of Islam in Italy. This issue contained a 20-page report entitled "Who was the Prophet Mohammed?" and pointed out that true Islam had nothing to do with terrorism. It also presented the views of various historians, philosophers, sociologists, and politicians. The report states that no religion is spreading as fast as Islam, and quotes the words of prominent English philosopher Ernest Gellner: "Islam is the blueprint of a social order. It holds that a set of rules exists, eternal, divinely ordained, and independent of the will of men, which defines the proper ordering of society."

The German President Visits A Mosque

(Above) Islam on English television, (Below) Much interest in the documentary about Prophet Muhammad (saas), Islam's rapid rise has been the topic of many television programs. In addition to concentrating on political and social issues, they also provide comprehensive documentaries on Islamic history and moral teachings. One example is the English project called the "The BBC Two's Islam Season," which was prepared as a 2-week series. Costing 1 million pounds to produce, it was to present the truth about Islam. A similar program was broadcast on the French-German channel: Arte. This documentary series, which took 3 years to produce, presents a detailed account of the Prophet's life and Islamic history.

Islam is the fastest growing religion in Denmark. This growth is fostered by the warm relations with the Danish government. One of the most striking instances of this support was an historical first: Danish state television broadcast a Friday sermon delivered in the mosque of the Turkish Cultural Center.

The Rise Of Islam - The Qur'an Has Become the Best Selling Book in America

"Truly We have granted you a clear victory, so that God may forgive you your earlier errors and any later ones and complete His blessing upon you, and guide you on a Straight Path. And so that Allah may help you with a mighty help." (Qur’an 48: 1-3)

The 9/11 tragedy caused the growth of Islam in America to accelerate greatly. One of the clearest indications of this is that after the attacks, the Qur'an became the best-selling book in many states for a long time. American interest in the Qur'an increased to such an extent that Penguin Books, one of the best-known publishers of the Qur'an in English, reported that it had printed 20,000 extra copies after 9/11.

USA Today reported on this intense interest in "People Want to Know, so Koran is Bestseller," saying that sales of the Qur'an had increased by five times.When asked for his view on this matter, a leading expert in Islam, John Esposito, emphasized an important point:

The strength of the Qur'an is that a Muslim, or anyone, can open it to any page and get a message dealing with life's meaning.

Newsweek devoted eight pages in its February 2001 issue to an examination of the Qur'an. In the report entitled "In the Beginning There Were the Holy Books," it emphasized that God revealed each holy book and that there was no room for religious conflict. Among the issues treated were Qur'anic morality, how Muslims regard Christians and Jews, and Islam teaches people to live. The report states that when they first read the Qur'an, many Christians are surprised to see how much is written in the Qur'an about such Prophets as Jesus, David, Abraham, and Jonah, peace be upon them all, who appear in the Bible. The report also stresses that justice, mercy, and compassion are basic to the Qur'an.

The Oprah Show, one of the top three American talk-shows, also discussed Islam. On October 5, 2001, there was an episode called "Islam 101." Participants included Queen Raina of Jordan; Prof. Akbar Ahmed, Ibn Khaldun Chair of Islamic Studies and professor of International Relations at American University in Washington; and Maleeha Lodhi, Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States. The program's purpose was to introduce Islam to the viewers. Along with presenting their views, the program sought to show a cross-section of the daily lives of American Muslims and to help people understand Islam better. Also, the program's Internet site explained Islam's basic tenets.

In addition to becoming a best seller, some public schools asked their students to memorize some Qur'anic verses. For example, seventh grade students in Byron, California, public school system were to take a three-week course to give them detailed information about the tenets of Islam. In this course, they were to memorize Qur'anic verses, learn about Islamic history and the life of Prophet Muhammad, and even make speeches to the class using Muslim names that they had chosen for themselves. And this program was put into effect immediately. Along with this, it was proposed that students learn how Muslims pray and what Islam's religious duties are.

People in the state of Maine had a very keen interest in Islam. A few days after 9/11, there was a large increase in sales of the Qur'an and books on Islamic history. On September 22, the Bangor Daily News reported on the people's interest in Islam in "Mainers Studying Tenets of Islam." This article said, in part:

As Americans struggle to come to terms with last week's events, Mainers apparently are turning to encyclopedias, history books, biographies, textbooks and the Qur'an itself to understand what the majority of Muslims believe. Gig Weeks of Book Marc's in downtown Bangor said Wednesday the store had sold all but one copy of the Qur'an…. She said several of the titles are on back order until publishers can reprint them. Staffers at Borders Books, Music and Café in Bangor reported they had sold five copies of the Qur'an since Sept. 11, compared with the two copies that had been sold between Jan. 1 and Sept. 10.

In an Atlanta Journal report entitled "Qu'ran a best seller everywhere," well-known bookstores reported that their stocks of Islamic books were depleted and that the Qur'an was the top-selling book in almost every state.

The article gave further information about this interest. For example, students at Bangor Theological School, who normally study about Islam toward the end of the school year, wanted to start the course right away, and so Dana Sawyer, one of the school's teachers, started a course about the Qur'an and the Prophet's life. In this course, Sawyer said that declaring all Muslims to be terrorists was the same as saying that all Christians are responsible for a crime committed by one Christian. The Guardian featured an article by Jeremy Rifkin, the well-known American economist, in which he said that he was ashamed that he had not read anything about Islam prior to 9/11, and that now he was not the only one engaged in learning about Islam:

"I'm ashamed to admit it, but before September 11, I didn't pay much attention to Islam. I had a cursory knowledge of the historical struggle between Israel and its Arab neighbors. I knew a bit about the struggle with the west over oil.... It took the deaths of 5,000 Americans in a horrific act of terrorism to get my attention. Like so many others, I have been reading up on Islam-its tenets, internal struggles, . . . visions. . . , its similarities and deep differences with Christianity and the West... I'm not alone. Seven of the 15 lead books on the New York Times paperback bestseller list are devoted to Islam. The Koran has become a bestseller. The whole world, it seems, has been converted into a classroom as we try to make sense out of the tragic events of September 11 and its aftermath."

At a national service of commemoration held on September 14 to commemorate those who died on 9/11, President Bush invited the Muslim leader Muzammil Siddiqi to give the address. The service at the National Cathedral was attended by George Bush and Colin Powell, members of the military, bureaucrats, and relatives of those who lost their lives. A small mosque has been set aside for Muslims working in the Congress to perform Friday prayers. In 1998, for the first time and under the initiative of Suhail Khan, Senator Tom Campbell's press secretary, Muslims started meeting once a month for conversation. A little while later, Muslims in other government departments joined and began to hold the Friday prayers in a room convenient for this purpose. When the numbers grew too large, talking with the management of the Congress building resulted in a small room being set aside as a mosque in which Muslims could meet for conversation and Friday prayers. Now, an average of 50 to 60 Muslims meet there every Friday.1. The Number Of Muslims Is Increasing In Hawaii

Islam Is Spreading Among Latin American Immigrants

As in other parts of America, the number of Muslims is increasing in Hawaii. The majority of converts in Hawaii are military personnel. One of them is Heather Ramaha, who works for the navy at Pearl Harbor. Her husband is a Muslim, and she decided to convert after 9/11. Hakim Ouansafi, president of the Muslim Association of Hawaii, reported that after 9/11, there was a visible increase in the number of Muslims in Hawaii. According to him, before 9/11 only about 3 Muslims converted a month; in the two months after the attacks, 23 people converted.(Above) Reports about Muslims in Hawaii newspapers. One of every 4.3 people in the world are Muslims. The statistic table by CIA however does not includes many other countries that have Muslims, but no available numbers, which should make the above total number of Muslims higher than 1,524,889,114. Islam annual growth rate (1994-1995) from U.N. is 6.40%.. This should make the total number of Muslims on Earth over 2.2 Billion by 2010.

1) Question: The Polygamy question

Answer: Plural marriage vs. plural mistresses. If in the U.S. the culture and the law allow a macho man to have 1 or 4 or 15 mistresses – why should we condemn Islam for making those men legally responsible for the women? *Plural marriage is not new to the Bible, Thalmud or the Torah as well as other religious scriptures like Vedas, ramayan, Mahabharat and Geetha. Islam did not initiate it; Islam regulated and fought the injustice that was happening in plural marriages. *The Quran is the only religious scripture in the world that contains the phrase, "marry only one". There is no other religious book that instructs men to have only one wife - In the Quran, Allah says, "Marry women of your choice, two three or four; but if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly (with them) then only one." (An-Nisa 4:3). Before the Quran was revealed, there is no upper limit for polygamy and many men has scores of wives. *Average lifespan of females is more than of males - Males & females are born in approximately the same ratio. A female child is more immunity than a male child. For this reason, during the pediatric age itself there are more deaths among males as compared to the females. During wars, there are more men killed as compared to women. More men die due to accidents and diseases than women and thus, many widows and orphans created which need protection, provision, care and love physically & spiritually. *The World female population is more than male population - In USA, women outnumber men by 7.8 million. New York alone has 1 million more females than males, and the male population of New York one third are homosexuals. The USA as a whole has more than 25million homosexuals & lesbians. Great Britain has 4 million more females as compared to males. Germany has 5million more females as compared to males. Russia has 9million more females than males. GOD alone knows knows how many million more females there are in the world as compared to males. Restricting each and every man to have only 1 wife is not practical. Even if every man got marry to 1 women, there would still be more than 30 million females in USA who would not be able to get husbands (considering that America has 25million gays). There would be more than 4million females in Britain, 5 million females in Germany & (million females in Russia alone who would not be able to find a husband. Suppose your sister happens to be one of the unmarried women living in USA. Among the options open to her are married to a man who already has a wife and be treated justly according to Islamic marriage principals, or becomes 'public property'. Those who are modest will opt for the first. *In Western society, it is common for a man to have mistresses and/or multiple extramarital affairs - in which case, the women leads a disgraceful, unprotected life. The same society however, cannot accept a man having more than 1 wife, in which women retrain their honourable, dignified position in society and lead a protected life. Between the two options to a women who cannot find a husband get married to a married man or become 'public property', Islam prefers giving women the honourable position by permitting the first option and disallowing the second. There are several other reasons, why Islam has permitted polygamy, but it is mainly to protect the modesty of women. But, do not forget also that it is not as easy as many people think how Islam allows polygamy. In Islamic law, the husband must get permissions and signature of his wife first to add another wife and then must also get approval from the authorities of the Islamic Affairs in the country and must give the reason why he want to add another wife. This council will then decide whether he can afford or not to have extra wives in terms of financial, time, physical health etc. He must abide to Islamic law and must be able to be just to all his wife. If he fails to do this, his wives can report to the council and he will then be punish.

2) Question: Men polygamous, why not women?
Answer: It’s not fair? Does fairness mean I must get half the orange and you get half? Or can fairness be I get the peel, you get the fruit? There is no denying it, men are polygamous by their nature, and women are monogamous by their nature. If God legislated it like that, doesn’t He know what He created?

3) Question: Are women oppressed in Islam?
Answer: Most likely someone thinks this because of the Muslim woman’s head covering. So, that thinking tells us that the more clothes a woman takes off, the more liberated she is. Therefore, according to this belief, the most liberated women are pornography models. To a Muslim woman liberation is to be respected for who she is not what she looks like. A Muslim woman’s beauty is seen by her female friends, her children, her close relatives, and her husband. The only people that don’t see her beauty are strange men.

4) Question: Does Islam command the murder of innocent people?
Answer: Why would anyone say so? (Most likely it will be something they saw on TV or ‘media’ related.) Let ponder this, “Are bats evil? If we saw one at night would we get scared?” We’ve watched too many Dracula movies right? Stereotype. Don’t let the media indoctrinate us with stereotypes. Travel the world and experience the diversity. There is more to planet earth then America and CNN.

5) Question: The spread of Islam was by the sword, through violence.
Answer: Then why today is Islam the fastest growing religion amongst Americans and Europeans? Where are the swords? Or is it the power of truth? 6) Question: Do Muslims worship the Grand Mosque in Makkah?
Answer: It is a point of direction for all Muslims around the world. It is the universal axis of universal brotherhood and sisterhood. If a Muslim harbored the belief that they were worshipping the Ka’bah, they would be committing a sin that Allah would never forgive. In Arabic ‘shirk,’ to associate partners in worship with God

7) Question: Non-Muslims cannot enter Makkah and Madinah?
Answer: Every man, woman, and child is allowed to enter Makkah – but they must purify their heart first. There cannot be in their heart love for any God other than the one true God. This is the visa requirement

8) Question: Why can’ t Muslims drink alcohol?
Answer: Of the things that the prophets warned of is alcohol and pork. This is guidance that will bring an individual prosperity and a warning that will bring an individual harm. We don’t need humans to tell us alcohol is a disease and detrimental to one’s health and prosperity. God already told us.

9) Question: Why are there so many sects in Islam, like Shia and Sunni?
Answer: With human differences, there is still one body of Muslims. Our God is the same, our Prophet is the same, our book is the same, our prayer is the same, our direction of prayer is the same, our name is the same (Muslims), our fasting is the same, our pilgrimage (Hajj) is the same on the same day and so much more. Our sources of legislation are the Qur’an and authentic Hadith. Whatever opinion comes, it is by these two we judge it. So, yes, there will be people who
differ. Muslims always have a standard to go back to by which the statements of men are measured.

10) Question: Purpose of religion is high moral character. Then why Islam? And why should those others be condemned? (Good acting person in hell?)
Answer: There is no base to say that the sum total of religion is good character? And what is the definition of high moral character? One can only think that its the way we act towards other human beings, nature, animal etc. Could there be more to religion ... say ... the right of God to be worshipped alone? Do you think it’s possible for a person to be good to humans, but in their relationship with God they are the most wretched? It is not fair to God who created you, shower you with provision, supply you with Oxygen to breathe, the sky as roof to protect you and guide you to the light of true faith through all His Prophets and Messenger and what did you give in return, you worship other than him as God instead (Angels, Prophets, Saints, Kings, Stars, Priests or worst Demons/Satan.). God only acknowledged your good conduct only if you recognize Him as your Lord worth to be worship.

11) Question: Death for the apostate?
Answer: The U.S. acknowledges the punishment for treason – death. Islam is not a bunch of theories; it is a way of life that encompasses spiritual, moral, and social laws. As you understand the punishment for U.S. treason, this is Islam’s punishment for violent treason

Lets Ponder This Facts

When some butterflies open their wings, we encounter a pair of eyes, with all their symmetry and detail. These eyes alone are more than sufficient to convince their enemies that what they face is not a butterfly. Particularly, the false faces of some butterfly species such as the Shonling butterfly, seen in picture, are so perfect with their shiny eyes, facial features, frowning eyebrows, mouth and nose that the overall picture is quite discouraging to most of its enemies.
It is impossible to claim that this extraordinary picture emerged as the result of "an interesting coincidence". When the below picture is examined in detail, we understand that these facial features cannot have been formed by chance. Can coincidence make symmetry? Can coincidence form the same colours and designs in two different places? Certainly not. This claim is quite meaningless and unscientific.
Could the butterfly possibly make this system on its own, thinking that it would be useful? The answer to that question is certainly "no".

The Meaning Of "Assalamualaikum...."

A few days back, my friend/colleague/Trainer by the name (initial) of HK Teo ask me the meaning of Muslim's full-sentence greets of "Assalamu'alaikum Warah Matullahi, Wabarakatuh". Because of time constrain, I could not answer his question, but I prefer to give the answer through this blog of mine, for everyone to know as well.
The Arabic words "Assalamu 'alaikum" literally means "peace be upon you". But Prophet Muhammad advised all Muslims to greet his/her Muslim brothers or sisters in full sentence which is "Assalamu 'laikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh". The words 'rahmah' and 'barakah' were added here which simply means 'bless' and 'prosper'. So, the whole sentence brings the meaning of "Peace be upon you with God's blessings and prosper." The meaning in Malay language would be 'Kesejahteraan ke atas kamu dengan Rahmat dari Allah dan Keberkatannya."
So, this is what I personally understand the meaning behind the sentence. If I'm wrong, perhaps any Muslim readers can leave a comment to correct me. I'll be much appreciated. And to my friend Mr. HK, the Senior T.S, I hope you'll satisfy with the answer.

1) On Knowledge:

"Go in quest of knowledge even to China"

"Seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave"

"One learned man is harder on the devil than a thousand ignorant worshippers. The pursuit of knowledge is a divine commandment for every Muslim; and to waste knowledge on those who are unworthy of it is like putting pearls, jewels and gold on the necks of swine."

Abu Hurairah relates that the Holy Prophet said; "Whenever one of you looks at him who has been graced with wealth and health to a greater than himself, let him also have a look at one who is below him in that respect."

3) Of Parents:

"Heaven lies at the feet of Mothers."

"A man is bound to do good to his parents, although they may have injured him."

"He who wishes to enter Paradise through the best door must please his Father and Mother."

4) The World:

"The love of the world is the root of all evil."

Prophet Muhammad slept upon a mat and got up with marks on his body made by the mat. Someone said, "O Messenger of God! If you had ordered me, I would have spread a soft bed for you. " Prophet Muhammad replied, "What business have I with the world? My state in respect of the World is that of a man on horseback to stops under the shade of a tree for a while and then leaves it."

Ibn 'Abbas relates that the Holy Prophet holding him by his shoulder said;"Live in the world as if you were a stranger or a wayfarer."

5) Peace:

"Shall I not inform you of better acts than fasting, giving alms and prayers? Make peace with one another, enmity and malice tear up rewards by the roots."

Jabir ibn "Abdullah relates that the Holy Prophet said; "He who is not merciful to others will not be shown mercy."

"They will enter the Garden of Bliss who have a true, pure and merciful heart."

Islam is a very simple Religion. Islam simply means submitting yourself in peace to the Absolute One and Living GOD:

"Say: He is God, the One and Only; God, the Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth not, nor is He begotten; And there is none like unto Him. (The Noble Quran, 112:1-4)"

"Then Praise be to Allah, Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth- Lord and Cherisher of all the worlds! To Him be Glory throughout the heavens and the earth: and He is Exalted in Power, Full of Wisdom!. (The Noble Quran, 45:36-37)"

"Say: 'O People of the Book (i.e., Jews and Christians)! Come to common terms as between us and you: That we worship none but Allah; that we associate no partners with Him; that we erect not, from among ourselves, Lords and patrons other than Allah.' Tony Blair: "Qur'an Inspired Me"

The British Prime Minister Tony Blair says that he has read the whole Qur'an three times. In his statements, he often mentioned his admiration for the Qur'an's moral teaching. On March 29, 2000, the BBC reported on Blair's admiration for the Qur'an in a feature entitled "Blair: Qur'an Inspired Me." He was reported to have said that Islam was a good and peaceful religion, that he owned two copies of the Qur'an, and that he was quite inspired by it:

A speech by Bill Clinton which described how influenced he was by the Qur'an

On September 17, 2001, President Bush visited the Washington Islam Center mosque, one of the oldest in the United States. In his speech, he emphasized that Islam is a religion of peace and that the terrorist attacks of 9/11 have nothing to do with the teachings of Islam or the sincere Muslims of the world, all of whom deplore terrorism. Bush stated that those who inflict harm on innocent and civilian Muslims are just as in the wrong as those who carry out terrorist attacks. At this crowded meeting, covered live by a large number of domestic and international television stations, President Bush read the following verse from the Qur'an:

Since Allah Almighty ordered Abraham the father of Ishmael and Isaac peace be upon them to build the Kaaba, people called it the House of GOD Almighty, and it became the direction for us to bow down to Allah Almighty in worship:

"Behold! We gave the site, To Abraham, of the (Sacred) House (i.e., the Kaaba), (Saying): 'Associate not anything (In worship) with Me; And sanctify My House For those who compass it round, Or stand up, Or bow, or prostrate themselves (Therein in prayer). And proclaim the Pilgrimage among men: they will come to thee on foot and (mounted) on every kind of camel, lean on account of journeys through deep and distant mountain highways:" (The Noble Quran, 22:26-27)

So when Muslims prostrate to Allah Almighty, they prostrate in the direction that is as close as possible to Him. It was also prophesied in the Noble Quran that people from all over the world would come to the city of Mecca (where the Kaaba is located) for pilgrimage.

During the early days of Islam, the Muslims were commanded to bow down to Allah Almighty in the direction of the Farthest Mosque (Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa) in Jerusalem, because it was the Holiest Mosque/Temple to worship Allah Almighty in back since it was not defiled with idols. Allah Almighty then commanded Prophet Muhammad to order the Muslims to prostrate to Allah Almighty in the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca, because it was the House of GOD Almighty which was built by Prophet Abraham peace be upon him (mentioned also in the Bible), and because after the Muslims liberated Mecca in a 10,000 men army (this event was prophesied in the Bible), they cleaned the Kaaba from all idols.

"Say: 'O People of the Book (i.e., Jews and Christians)! The Kaaba is only the House of GOD Almighty and is the meeting place for us to meet the Almighty LORD by bowing down our faces in humility down to the ground before Him in that direction.

The Muslims on the hand are not idol worshipers. And neither were the Bible's Prophets (including Jesus), peace be upon them, who prostrated to GOD Almighty.

On the other hand, the hindus' and the buddhists' idols are statues. The same also for those who worship the fire, sun, moon, stars, etc... Allah Almighty Said:

"Among His Sings are the Night and the Day, and the Sun and the Moon. Adore not the sun and the moon, but adore God, Who created them, if it is Him ye wish to serve." (The Noble Quran, 41:37)

"They ask thee Concerning the New Moons. Say: They are but signs To mark fixed periods of time In (the affairs of) men, And for Pilgrimage. It is no virtue if ye enter the houses from the back: It is virtue if ye fear Allah. Enter houses Through the proper doors: And fear Allah: That ye may prosper. (The Noble Quran, 2:189)

*The Kaaba is the Qibla i.e the direction Muslims face during their prayers. It is important to note that though Muslims face Kaaba during prayers, they do not worship the Kaaba. Muslim worship and bow to none but Allah. It is mention in the Quran

"We see the turning of thy face (for guidance) to the heavens: now shall We turn thee to a Qibla that shall please thee. Turn then thy face in the direction of the Sacred Mosque:wherever ye are, turn your face in that direction." (Al-Baqarah 2:144)

* Kaaba is the Centre of the World Map. The Muslims were the first people to draw the map of the world. They drew the map with the south facing upwards and the north downward. The Kaaba was at the centre. Later, Western Cartographers drew the map upside down with the north facing upwards. Yet, the Kaaba is at the centre of the world map.

* Tawaf around the Kaaba for indicating one God - when Muslims go to al-masjid al-Haram in Mecca, they perform tawaf or circumambulation around the Kaaba. This act synbolizes the belief and worship of One God, since just as every circle has one centre, so also there is only one Allah worthy of worship.

* People stood on Kaaba and gave the adzan - At the time of the Prophet, people even stood on the Kaaba and gave the adzan or the call to prayer. One may ask those who allege that Muslims worship the Kaaba; which idol worshipper stands on the idol he worships?

Many non-Muslim might ponder, how come Muslims don't have images of GOD as Christians do with Jesus, Buddhist with Siddartha Gauthama and Hindus with their Divas?
Because there is nothing like GOD Almighty. Let us look at The Quran Verse 42:11 "(He is) the Creator of the heavens and the earth: He has made for you pairs from among yourselves, and pairs among cattle: by this means does He multiply you: there is nothing whatever like unto Him, and He is the One that hears and sees (all things)."

Creating images (idol gods) of GOD Almighty is forbidden in Islam. Many Verses in the Noble Quran prohibt them. Let us look at few of them:

"Verily ye, (unbelievers), and the (false) gods that ye worship besides Allah, are (but) fuel for Hell ! To it will ye (surely) come !" (The Noble Quran, 21:98). And "Lo! Abraham said to his father Azar: "Takest thou idols for gods? For I see thee and thy people in manifest error." (The Noble Quran, 6:74)

"We took the Children of Israel (with safety) across the sea. They came upon a people devoted entirely to some idols they had. They said: 'O Moses! fashion for us a god like unto the gods they have.' He said: 'Surely ye are a people without knowledge.' As to these folk,- the cult they are in is (but) a fragment of a ruin, and vain is the (worship) which they practise." (The Noble Quran, 7:138-139)

"Remember Abraham said: 'O my Lord! make this city one of peace and security: and preserve me and my sons from worshipping idols."(The Noble Quran, 14:35)

"Such (is the Pilgrimage): whoever honours the sacred rites of God, for him it is good in the Sight of his Lord. Lawful to you (for food in Pilgrimage) are cattle, except those mentioned to you (as exception): but shun the abomination of idols, and shun the word that is false." (The Noble Quran, 22:30)

Another mathematical miracle of the Qur'an is the manner in which the number 19 is numerologically encoded in verses. This number gives the interlocking attributes to the Quran and it's impossible to anyone to do it, not even with the most advanced sophisticated computer. It shows that the Quran is not from human being of any form and far beyond any intelligence man can ever imagine. In other words it is from God, the Creator and not the work of Prophet Muhammad as what the Orientalists persist. This number is stressed in the words of the Qur'an:

"There are nineteen in charge of it." (Qur'an, 74:30),

and is encoded in various places in the Book. Some examples of this can be listed as follows:

There are 114 Formulas in the Qur'an or 19 x 6.

A total of 113 Suras in the Qur'an start with the formula. The only Sura not to start with one is the ninth, Surat at-Tawba. Surat an-Naml is the only Sura to have two formulas. One of these is at the beginning and the other in verse 30. Counting from Surat at-Tawba, which does not begin with the formula, Surat an-Naml follows 19 Suras on.

There is a formula at the beginning of the 27th Sura, Surat an-Naml, and in verse 30. There are thus two formulas in the 27th Sura. It is the formula in the 30th verse of the 27th Sura which completes the total of 114 formulas in the Qur'an. When we add together the number of the verse and the number of the Sura, 30 and 27, we find the number 57 (19 x 3).

The total number of Suras from Surat at-Tawba (9) to Surat an-Naml (27) is 342 (9 + 10 + 11 +12 +13 +14 +15 +16 + 17 + 18 + 19 + 20 + 21 + 22 + 23 + 24 + 25 + 26 + 27). That figure is 19 multiplied by 18.

The sum of all the occurrences of the name "Allah" in all the verses whose numbers are multiples of 19 (i.e., verses 19, 38, 57, 76, etc.) is 133, or 19 x 7.

The "abjad" value of the word "wahd" meaning "one" is 19. This word is used with various other words in the Qur'an, such as one door, one variety of food. It is used 19 times together with the name "Allah."

The number of verses between the first initial letters (Alif, Lam, Mim; Surat al-Baqara 1) and the final initial letters (Nun; Surat al-Qalam 1) is 5,263 (19 X 277).

There are 38 (19 x 2) Suras without initial letters between the first Sura which has initial letters and the last to have them.

The word "Rahman" (All-Merciful) appears 57 (19 x 3) times in the Qur'an.

In addition to these thirty numbers, the Qur'an also refers to eight fractions: 1/10, 1/8, 1/6, 1/5, 1/4, 1/3, 1/2 and 2/3. The Qur'an thus contains a total of 38 (19 x 2) different numbers.

The Sura from the beginning to possess 19 verses is Surat al-Infitar. Another feature of this Sura is that its final word is "Allah." At the same time, this is the 19th appearance of the name "Allah" from the end.

The 50th Sura, which begins with the letter Qaf, contains a total of 57 (19 x 3) letters Qaf. There are also 57 letters Qaf in the 42nd Sura with a letter Qaf at the beginning. The 50th Sura contains 45 verses. Added together, these total 95 (19 x 5). There are 53 verses in the 42nd Sura. These again total 95 (42 + 53).

The abjad value of the word "Majeed," used for the Qur'an, in the first verse of Surah Qaf is 57 (19 x 3). As we have stated above, the total number of letters Qaf is also 57.

When we add together the number of times that the letter Qaf appears in the Qur'an, we reach a total of 798 (19 x 42). Forty-two is the number of another Sura with Qaf among its initial letters.

The letter Nun appears at the beginning of only the 68th Sura. The total number of times it appears in that Sura is 133 (19 x 7).

When we add together the number of verses (including the formulas) in Suras the number of which are multiples of 19, the following is noteworthy:

Only one Sura, the seventh, begins with the initial letters "Alif, Lam, Mim, Sad." The letter Alif appears in this Sura 2,529 times, the letter Lam 1,530 times, the letter Mim 1,164 times and the letter Sad 97 times. These four letters thus appear a total of 2,529 + 1,530 + 1,164 + 97 times, or 5,320 (19 x 280) times.

The letters Alif, Lam and Mim are the most frequently used letters in Arabic. They appear together at the beginning of six Suras: numbers 2, 3, 29, 30, 31 and 32. The number of times these three letters appear in each of these six Suras is a multiple of 19. In order: 9,899 (19 x 521), 5,662 (19 x 298), 1,672 (19 x 88), 1,254 (19 x 66) and 817 (19 x 43). The total number of times all these three letters appear in the six Suras is 19,874 (19 x 1,046).

The initial letters Alif, Lam and Ra appear in Suras 10, 11, 12, 14 and 15. The total number of times these letters appear in these Suras is 2,489 (19 x 131), 2,489 (19 x 131), 2,375 (19 x 125), 1,197 (19 x 63) and 912 (19 x 48).

The frequency with which the initial letters Alif, Lam, Mim and Ra appear is 1,482 (19 x 78) in total. The letter Alif appears 605 times, Lam 480 times, Mim 260 times and Ra 137 times.

The initial letters Qaf, Ha, Ya, 'Ayn and Sad appear in only one Sura, the 19th. The letter Qaf appears 137 times in this Sura, Ha 175 times, Ya 343 times, 'Ayn 117 times and Sad 26 times. The total number of appearances of these five letters is 137 + 175 + 343 + 117 + 26 = 798 (19 x 42).

MAN IS CREATED FROM ALAQ (A LEECH-LIKE SUBSTANCE)

Consider this verse in the Quran:

"Proclaim! (or Read) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, who created. Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood." ( Al-Quran 96: 1-2)

The word Alaq besides meaning a congealed clot of blood also mean something that clings, a leech like substance. Dr. Keith Moore (professor of Embryology and Chairman of the department of Anatomy at the University of Toronto)who was asked to give his opinion had no knowledge whether an embryo in the initial stages appears like a leech. to check this out, he studied under a very powerful microscope in his laboratory and compared what he observed with a diagram of a leech and he was astonished at the striking resemblance between the two. In the same manner, he acquired more information on embryology that was hitherto not known to him, from the Quran. he has answered about 80 questions dealing with embriological data mentioned in the Quran & Hadith. Noting that the information contained in the Quran and Hadith was in full agreement with the latest discoveries in the field of embryology. Prof. Moore said, "If I was asked these questions thirty years ago, I would not have been able to answer half of them for lack of scientific information". In 1981, during the seventh Medical Conference in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, he said, "It has been a great pleasure for me to help clarify statements in the Quran about human development. It is clear to me that these statements must have come to Muhammad from God or Allah, because almost all of these knowledge was not discovered until many centuries later. This proves to me that Muhammad must have been a messenger of God."

MAN CREATED FROM A DROP EMITTED FROM BETWEEN THE BACK BONE AND THE RIBS

"Now let man but think from what he is created! He is created from a drop emitted - Proceeding from between the back bone and the ribs." (Al-Quran 86:5-7)

In embryonic stages, the reproductive organs of the male and female, i.e the testicles and the ovaries, begin their development near the kidney between the spinal column and the eleventh and the twelfth ribs. Later they descent; the female gonads (testicles) continue their descent of the reproductive organ, these organs receive their nerve supply and blood supply from Abdomal Aorta, which is in the ares between the backbone (spinal column) and the ribs. Even the lymphatic drainage and the venous return goes to the same area.

HUMAN BEING CREATED FROM NUTFAH (Minute Quantity of Liquid)

The glorious Quran mentions no less than eleven times that the human being is created from nutfah, which means a minute quantity of liquid or a trickle of liquid which remains after emptying a cup. This is mentioned in several verses of the Quran including 22:5 and 23:13.
Science has confirmed in recent times that only one out of an average of three million sperms is required for fertilising the ovum. This means that only a 1/three millionth part or 0.00003% of the quantity of sperms that are emitted is required for the fertilization.

HUMAN BEING CREATED FROM SULALAH (quintessence of liquid)

"And made his progeny from a quintessence of the nature of a fluid despised." (Al-Quran 32:8)

The Arabic word sulalah means quintessence or the best part of a whole. We have come to know that only one single spermatozoon that penetrates the ovum is required for the fertilization, out of the several millions produced by man. That one spermatozoon out of several millions, is referred to the Quran as sulalah. Sulalah also means gentle extraction from a fluid. The fluid refers to both male and female germinal fluids containing gametes. Both ovum and sperm are gently extracted from their environments in the process of fertilization.

MAN CREATED FROM NUTFATUN AMSHAAJ (Mingled liquids)

Consider the following Quranic verses:

"Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm." (Al-Quran 76:2)

According to some commentators of the Quran, mingled liquids refers to the male or female agents or liquids. After mixture of male and female gamete, the zygote still remains nutfah. Mingled liquids can also refer to spermatic fluid that is formed of various secretions that come from various glands. therefore nutfatin amsaaj i.e. a minute quantity of mingled fluids refers to the male and female gametes (germinal fluids or cells) and part of the surrounding fluids.

SEX DETERMINATION

The sex of a foetus is determined by the nature of the sperm and not the ovum. The sex of the child, whether female or male, depends on whether the 23rd pair of chromosomes is XX or YY respectively.
Primarily sex determination occurs at fertilization and depends upon the type of sex chromosome in the sperm that fertilizes an ovum. If it is an X bearing sperm that fertilizes the ovum, the foetus is a female and if it is a Y bearing sperm then the foetus is a male.

"That He did created in pairs - male and female. From a seed when lodged (in its place)." (Al-Quran 53: 45-46)

The Arabic word nutfah means a minute quantity of liquid and tumna means ejaculated or planted. Therefore nutfah specially refers to sperm because it is ejaculated.
The Quran also says:

"Was he not a drop of sperm emitted (in lowly form)? Then did he become a clinging clot; Then did (Allah) make and fashion (him) in due proportion. And of him He made two sexes, male and female." (Al-Quran 75: 37-39)

Here again it is mentioned that a small quantity (drop) of sperm (indicated by the word nutfatan min maniyyin) which comes from the man is responsible for the sex of the foetus.
Mothers-in-law in many part of the world, by and large prefer having male grandchildren and often blame their daughters-in-law if the child is not of the desired sex. If only they knew that the determining factor is the nature of the male sperm and not the female ovum! If they were to blame anybody, they should blame their sons and not their daughter-in-law since both the Quran and Science hold that it is the male fluid that is responsible for the sex of the child!

WORD REPETITIONS IN THE QUR'AN

Apart from the miraculous characteristics of the Qur'an which we have looked into so far, it also contains what we can term "mathematical miracles." There are many examples of this fascinating Qur'anic aspect. One example of this is the number of repetitions of certain words in the Qur'an. Some related words are surprisingly repeated the same number of times. Below is a list of such words and the number of repetitions in the Qur'an.

The statement of "seven heavens" is repeated seven times. "The creation of the heavens (khalq as-samawat)" is also repeated seven times.

"Day (yawm)" is repeated 365 times in singular form, while its plural and dual forms "days (ayyam and yawmayn)" together are repeated 30 times. The number of repetitions of the word "month" (shahar) is 12.

The number of repetitions of the words "plant" and "tree" is the same: 26

The word "payment or reward" is repeated 117 times, while the expression "forgiveness" (mughfirah), which is one of the basic morals of the Qur'an, is repeated exactly twice that amount, 234 times.

When we count the word "Say," we find it appears 332 times. We arrive at the same figure when we count the phrase "they said."

The number of times the words, "world" (dunya) and "hereafter" (akhira) are repeated is also the same: 115

The word "satan" (shaitan) is used in the Qur'an 88 times, as is the word "angels" (malaika).

The word faith (iman) (without genitive) is repeated 25 times throughout the Qur'an as is also the word infidelity (kufr).

The words "paradise" and "hell" are each repeated 77 times.

The word "zakah" is repeated in the Qur'an 32 times and the number of repetitions of the word "blessing" (barakah) is also 32.

The expression "the righteous" (al-abraar) is used 6 times but "the wicked" (al-fujjaar) is used half as much, i.e., 3 times.

The number of times the words "Summer-hot" and "winter-cold" are repeated is the same: 5.

The words "wine" (khamr) and "intoxication" (saqara) are repeated in the Qur'an the same number of times: 6

The number of appearances of the words "mind" and "light" is the same: 49.

The words "tongue" and "sermon" are both repeated 25 times.

The words "benefit" and "corrupt" both appear 50 times.

"Reward" (ajr) and "action" (fail) are both repeated 107 times.

"Love" (al-mahabbah) and "obedience" (al-ta'ah) also appear the same number of times: 83

The words "refuge" (maseer) and "for ever" (abadan) appear the same number of times in the Qur'an: 28.

The words "disaster" (al-musibah) and "thanks" (al-shukr) appear the same number of times in the Qur'an: 75.

"Sun" (shams) and "light" (nur) both appear 33 times in the Qur'an. In counting the word "light" only the simple forms of the word were included.

The number of appearances of "right guidance" (al-huda) and "mercy" (al-rahma) is the same: 79

The words "trouble" and "peace" are both repeated 13 times in the Qur'an.

The words "man" and "woman" are also employed equally: 23 times.

Will they not ponder the Qur’an? If it had been from other than Allah, they would have found many inconsistencies in it.

The number of times the words "man" and "woman" are repeated in the Qur'an, 23, is at the same time that of the chromosomes from the egg and sperm in the formation of the human embryo. The total number of human chromosomes is 46; 23 each from the mother and father.

"Treachery" (khiyanah) is repeated 16 times, while the number of repetitions of the word "foul" (khabith) is 16.

"Human being" is used 65 times: the sum of the number of references to the stages of man's creation is the same: i.e.

The word "salawat" appear five times in the Qur'an, and Allah has commanded man to perform the prayer (salat) five times a day.

The word "land" appears 13 times in the Qur'an and the word "sea" 32 times, giving a total of 45 references. If we divide that number by that of the number of references to the land we arrive at the figure 28.888888888889%. The number of total references to land and sea, 45, divided by the number of references to the sea in the Qur'an, 32, is 71.111111111111%. Extraordinarily, these figures represent the exact proportions of land and sea on the Earth today.

Every Living Thing Is Made Of Water

Consider the following Quranic verses:

"Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together (as one unit of creation) before we clove them asunder? and we made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?"

( Quran 21:30)

Only after advances have been made in science, do we know that cytoplasm, the basic substance of the cell is made of 80% water. Modern research has also revealed that most organisms consist of 50% to 90% water and that every living entity requires water for its existence.
Was it passible 14 centuries ago for any human being to guess that every living being was made of water? Moreover would such a guess be conceivable by a human being in the deserts of Arabia where there has always been scarcity of water? The following verse refers to the creation of animal from water:

"And Allah has created every animal from water." ( Quran 24-45)

The following verse refers to the creation of human beings from water:

" It is He who has created man from water: then has He established relationships of lineage and marriage: for thy Lord has power (over all things)." (Quran 25-54)

CREATION FROM CLAY

In the Qur'an, Allah reveals that the creation of the human is a miracle. The first human being was created by Allah shaping clay into human form and breathing a soul into it:

"Your Lord said to the angels, "I am going to create a human being out of clay. When I have formed him and breathed My Spirit into him, fall down in prostration to him!" (Qur'an, 38:71-72)

"Then inquire of them: Is it they who are stronger in structure or other things We have created? We created them from sticky clay." (Qur'an, 37:11)

When the human body is examined today, it may be discovered that many elements present on the earth are also to be found in the body. Living tissues contain 95% carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, phosphorus and sulphur, with a total of 26 different elements. In another verse of the Qur'an we are told:

"We created man from an extract of clay." (Qur'an, 23:12)

The Arabic word "sulala," translated as "extract" in the verse, means "representative example, essence." As we have seen, the information revealed in the Qur'an 1,400 years ago confirms what modern science tells us-the fact that the same elements are employed in human creation as those found in the soil.

THE PROGRAMMING IN GENES

"From what thing did He create him? From a drop of sperm He created him and proportioned him. Then He eases the way for him." (Qur'an, 80:18-20)

The word "qaddarahu," translated as "proportioned" in the above verse, comes from the Arabic verb "qadare." It translates as "arranging, setting out, planning, programming, seeing the future, the writing of everything in destiny (by Allah)."

When the father's sperm cell fertilises the mother's egg, the parents' genes combine to determine all of the baby's physical characteristics. Each one of these thousands of genes has a specific function. It is the genes which determine the colour of the eyes and hair, height, facial features, skeletal shape and the countless details in the internal organs, brain, nerves and muscles. In addition to all the physical characteristics, thousands of different processes taking place in the cells and body-and indeed the control of the whole system-are recorded in the genes. For example, whether a person's blood pressure is generally high, low or normal depends on the information in his or her genes.

The first cell which forms when the sperm and the egg are joined also forms the first copy of the DNA molecule which will carry the code in every cell of the person's body, right up until death. DNA is a molecule of considerable size. It is carefully protected within the nucleus of the cell and this molecule is an information bank of the human body as it contains the genes we mentioned above. The first cell, the fertilised egg, then divides and multiplies in the light of the program recorded in the DNA. The tissues and organs begin to form: This is the beginning of a human being. The coordination of this complex structuring is brought about by the DNA molecule. This is a molecule consisting of atoms such as carbon, phosphorus, nitrogen, hydrogen and oxygen

Abbas Ibn Firnas (810 - 887): He is an aviator, chemist, inventor, musician & physician. he design a water clock& invent glass from sand to produce quartz.In 875, at an age of 65 years, Ibn Firnas made the first attempt at controlled flight when he invented a hang glider with artifical wings, and launched himself from the Mount of the Bride (Jabal al-'arus) in the Rusafa Area, near Córdoba. The flight was largely successful, and was widely observed by a crowd that he had invited. After Ibn Firnas jumped from the top of a wall at least "several times the height of a man," he had successfully manipulated the flight controls, made up of two sets of wings, in order to raise his altitute higher than the point from which he had taken off. After gliding for several hundred feet, Ibn Firnas changed his direction and turned back to successfully return to the wall he had jumped from, though his landing was unsuccessful.

As Westerners teach their children about Sir George Cayley, Lilienthal, Santos-Dumont and the Wright Brothers, the Islamic countries tell theirs about Ibn Firnas, a thousand years before the Wrights.The westerners also told us that around 1284 in Italy, Salvino D'Armate is the one who invent the first eye glasses. But actually, it was Abbas Ibn Firnas who invent corrective glasses in the 9th century. He had devised a way to finish sand into glass; which until this time, was secret to the Egyptians. These glasses could be shaped and polished into round rocks used for viewing - known as reading stones.

Who created the first humanoid robot? Was it Leonardo Da Vinci who design a robot that looks like an armored knight, known as Leonardo's robot? No! He only design it on paper and get all the credit in Western world. they then make the model from his drawings and put it in muzium. The first person who design and then built the first humanoid robot was Ibn Ismail Ibn al-Razzaz Al-Jazari who created the first recorded designs of a programmable humanoid robot 300 years before Leornado da Vinci. Al-Jazari's robot was originally a boat with four automatic figures. His mechanism had a programmable drum machine with pegs (cams) that bump into little levers that operated the percussion. The drummer could be made to play different rhythms and different drum patterns if the pegs were moved around musicians that floated on a lake to entertain guests at royal drinking parties. Not only that, he also the world's first inventor of mechanical clock. After that, he invented the first clock which incorporated a closed-loop system, where the clock worked as long as it was loaded with metal ballswith which to strike a gong. He also the inventor of so many inventions that is widely use today. These included the crank mechanism, co nnecting rod, programmable automaton, reciprocating piston engine, suction pipe, suction pump, double-action pump, valve, combination lock, cam, camshaft, segmental gear, the first mechanical clocks driven by water and weights, and especially the crankshaft, which is considered the most important mechanical invention in history after the wheel.

Who found the Milky Way? Was it Galileo? No, it was Abu Rayhan al-Biruni, 500 years before Galileo. Who was the first to conduct elaborate experiments related to astronomical phenomena. He discovered the Milky Way galaxy to be a collection of numerous nebulous stars. In Khorasan, he observed and described the solar eclipse on April 8, 1019, and the lunar eclipse on September 17, 1019, in detail, and gave the exact latitudes of the stars during the lunar eclipse. He also analysed the acceleration of the planets, and first states that the motions of the solar apoge and the precession are not identical. Biruni also discovered that the distance between the Earth and the Sun is larger than Ptolemy's estimate, on the basis that Ptolemy disregarded the annual solar eclipses.
Where did Isac Newton get the Law of Motion? 700 years before him, Al-Biruni was the first to apply experimental scientific method to mechanics, especially the fields of statistics and dynamics, particularly for determining specific weights, such as those based on the theory of balances and weighing. In the dynamics and kinematics fields of mechanics, Biruni was the first to realize that acceleration is connected with non-uniform motion, which is part of Newton Second Law of Motion. Not only that, in Optics , Biruni was one of the first, along with Ibn al-Haytham, to discover that the speed of light was finite. Biruni was also the first to discover that the speed of light is much faster than the speed of sound.

George Sarton, , the father of the history of science, described Biruni as:

"One of the very greatest scientists of Islam, and, all considered, one of the greatest of all times."

A. I. Sabra desribed Biruni as:

"One of the great scientific minds in all history."

And what does this great scientist said about the Quran and science?
"[the Qur'an] does not interfere in the business of science nor does it infringe on the realm of science." (Al-Biruni)

Who invented camera? Can't guess! It was Ibn al-Haytham (965-1039), the Father Of Optics. he has not only the first person who built camera, but also studied binocular vision and the moon illusion, speculated on the finite speed, rectilinear propagation and electromagnetic aspects of light, and argued that rays of light are streams of energy particles travelling in straight lines. Due to his quantitative, empiricaland experimental approach to physics and science, he is considered the pioneer of the modern scientific method and of experimental physics, and some have described him as the "first scientist" for this reason. He is also considered by some to be the founder of psychophysics and his experimental approach of psycology of visual perception, and a pioneer of the philosophical field of phenomenology.
He also discovered Fermat's principle of least time and the law of inertia (known as Newton's first law of motion), discovered the concept of momentum(part of Newton's second law of motion), described the attraction between masses and was aware of the magnitude of acceleration due to gravity at a distance and in his optical research laid the foundations for the later development of telescopic astronomy, as well as for the microscope and the use of optical aids in Renaissance art.. His reformed empirical model was the first to reject the equant and eccentrics separate natural phylosophy from astronomy, free celestial kinematics from cosmology, and reduce physical entities to geometrical entities. The model also propounded the earth's rotation about its axis, and the centres of motion were geometrical points without any physical significance. His model comes centuries earlier than the famous Johannes Kepler's model.

Ibn al-Haytham described his search for truth and knowledge as a way of leading him closer to God:

"I constantly sought knowledge and truth, and it became my belief that for gaining access to the effulgence and closeness to God, there is no better way than that of searching for truth and knowledge."

And how about Ibnu Sina or Avicenna (980-1037), the Father of All Doctors? About 100 treatises were ascribed to Ibn Sina. Some of them are tracts of a few pages, others are works extending through several volumes. The best-known amongst them, and that to which Ibn Sina owed his European reputation, is his 14-volume The Canon of Medicine, which was a standard medical text in Europe and the Islamic world up until the 18th century. The book is known for its introduction of systematic experimentation and quantification into the study of physiology, the discovery of contagious diseases, the introduction of quarantine to limit the spread of infectious diseases, the introduction of experimental medicines and clinical trials and the first descriptions on bacteria and viral organisms. It classifies and describes diseases, and outlines their assumed causes. Even the term Medi-cenna or Ibnu Sina's healings is being used in English language as Medicine until today and many people don't realize it.
The Arabic text of the Qanun was translated into Latin as Canon medicinae by Gerard of cremona in the 12th century and into Hebrew in 1279. Henceforth the Canon served as the chief guide to medical science in the West and is said to have influenced Leonardo Da Vinci. Its content, its systematic arrangement and philosophical plan soon worked its way into a position of pre-eminence in the medical literature of Europe, displacing the works of Galen and becoming the text book for medical encyclopeadic education in the schools of Europe. The text was read in the medical schools at Montpeller and Leuven as late as 1650, and Arnold C. Klebs described it as "one of the most significant intellectual phenomena of all times." In the words of Dr. William Osler, the Qanun has remained "a medical bible for a longer time than any other work".

DARKNESS IN THE SEAS AND INTERNAL WAVES

Measurements made with today's technology have revealed that between 3 and 30 percent of the sunlight is reflected at the surface of the sea. Then, almost all of the seven colours of the light spectrum are absorbed, one after another, in the first 200 metres, except for blue light (picture at left). Below a depth of 1,000 metres, there is no light at all (above picture). This scientific fact was pointed out in Sura Nur 40 in the Qur'an 1,400 years ago:

"Or [the unbelievers' state] are like the darkness of a fathomless sea which is covered by waves above which are waves above which are clouds, layers of darkness, one upon the other. If he puts out his hand, he can scarcely see it. Those Allah gives no light to, they have no light." (Qur'an, 24:40)

In deep seas and oceans, the darkness is found at a depth of 200 meters and deeper. At this depth, there is almost no light, and below a depth of 1,000 meters there is no light at all.

Today, we know about the general formation of the sea, the characteristics of the living things in it, its salinity, as well as the amount of water it contains, and its surface area and depth. Submarines and special equipment, developed with modern technology, have enabled scientists to obtain such information.

The picture to the left represents internal waves at interface between two layers of water of different densities. The lower layer is denser than the upper one. This scientific fact, declared in Sura Nur 40 of the Qur'an 14 centuries ago, has been discovered by today's scientists only very recently.

Human beings are not able to dive to a depth of more than 70 meters without the aid of special equipment. They cannot survive unaided in the dark depths of the oceans, such as at a depth of 200 meters. For these reasons, scientists have only recently been able to discover detailed information about the seas. However, that the depth of the sea is dark was revealed in the Qur'an 1,400 years ago. It is certainly one of the miracles of the Qur'an that such information was given at a time where no equipment to enable man to dive into the depths of the oceans was available.

In addition, the statement in Surat an-Nur 40 "…like the darkness of a fathomless sea which is covered by waves above which are waves above which are clouds…" draws our attention to another miracle of the Qur'an.

Scientists have only recently discovered that there are sub-surface waves, which "occur on density interfaces between layers of different densities." These internal waves cover the deep waters of seas and oceans because deep water has a higher density than the water above it. Internal waves act like surface waves. They can break, just like surface waves. Internal waves cannot be discerned by the human eye, but they can be detected by studying temperature or salinity changes at a given location.

The statements in the Qur'an run parallel precisely the above explanation. Certainly, this fact, which scientists has discovered very recently, shows once again that the Qur'an is the word of Allah.

Barrier Between Sweet & Salt Waters - Consider the following Quranic verses:
"He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together. Between them is a barrier which they do not transgress." (Al-Quran 55:19-20).
In Arabic text, the word barzakh means a barrier or a partition. This barrier is not a physical partition. The Arabic word maraja literelly means 'they both meet and mix with each other'. Early commentators of the Quran were unable to explain the two opposite meanings for the two bodies of water, i.e they meet and mix, and at the same time , there is a barrier between them. Modern Science has discovered that in the places where two different seas meet, there is a barrier divides the two seas so that each sea has its own temperature, salinity & density. There is a slanted unseen water barrier between the two seas through which water from one sea passes to the other. But when the water from one sea enters the other sea, it loses its distinctive characteristic and becomes homogenized with the other water. In a way this barrier serves as a transitional homogenizing area for the two waters. The scientific phenomenon mentioned in the Quran was also confirmed by Dr. William Hay who is well known marine scientist and professor og Geological Sciences at the University of Colorado, U.S.A. The Quran also mentions this phenomenon also in the following verse:
"And made a separating bar between the two bodies of flowing water." (Al-Quran 27:61).
This phenomenon occurs in several places, including the divider between the Mediterranean & the Atlantic Ocean at Gibralter. But when the Quran speaks about the water between fresh & salt water, it mentions the existence of 'a forbiding partition' with the barrier:
"It is He Who has let free the two bodies of flowing water: one palatable & sweet, and the other salty & bitter, yet has he made s barrier between them, and a partition that is forbidden to be passed." (Al-Quran 25:53).
Modern science has discovered that in estuaries, where fresh (sweet) & salt water meet, the situation is somewhat different from that found in places where two seas meet. It has been discovered that distiguishes fresh water from salt water in estuaries is a 'pycnocline zone with a marked density discontinuity separating the two layers." This partition (zone of separation) has a salinity different from both the fresh water and the salt water. This phenomenon occurs in several places, including Egypt, where the river Nile flows into the Mediterranean Sea.
