Ever since I became a stay-at-home mom, I’ve always had a non-working Valentine. Non-working in a sense that I didn’t have to go to work because I wasn’t working, and because we didn’t have the usual Valentine because hubby always had to work. But it’s all good because we’d always say that everyday is Valentine’s day.

But what I miss the most are the events we used to have at work during these “occasions”. Aside from the usual roses of course for random employees and the games and short programs that we prepare, it’s the special things that the company gives out that gets us most excited. We always try to guess what new “thing” they will be giving out every year.

There were gift certificates for overnight stays at hotels, or tickets to a Valentine concert or show, or even gift certificates for dinner dates at posh restaurants. What I won’t forget though was when we were in charge of the surprise “thing” and we were looking for suppliers for Personalised Corporate Chocolates. It would have been a big hit if we found one on time but unfortunately we couldn’t have it going before Valentine’s.

But since we now have the contact person for such, I wonder if they finally got to use Corporate Chocolates recently? Maybe I should ask my former office mates to see if they did, and how they liked it. I’m sure it was a hit!

They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. That, I’ve proven to be true, at least for my husband. But if that’s the case, then a woman should have only the best in her kitchen to be able to come up with the best dishes for her man’s stomach, right? Well, at least that’s an argument I can use to get myself a new set of pots and pans.

I’m actually looking at getting a good set of Induction Cookware to go with a new Induction Cooker. I know it’s a major change to what we’re using right now but I know it’s a good investment because of the advantages and savings along the way, especially with the cost of electricity since it keeps increasing on a monthly basis.

Hopefully when we move to our own, I’ll have a say in MY kitchen and what’s in it. After all, I need to make sure to keep the man’s heart happy right? Then I should definitely have my dream kitchen.

When I was still working for an American company, the one thing I loved the most was when the execs would come over for their yearly visit. We appreciate that they come over and see how and what we actually do for them, even if it meant time off with their families back home.

Aside from their ‘presence’, another thing they bring with them were lots of American Sweets. Yep, sweets, candies, tarts, licorice, chocolates, you name it they brought it! Because my work meant frequent interaction with them, aside from my desk being really close to their temporary offices, I usually get a lot of candies. They’d drop a few when they head to the pantry, then drop a few more when they do their rounds, and a few more before they leave. In the morning, I’d see a few more on my desk. Perfect right?

My bowl of sweets was always full then, and that’s what I’m missing now. My bowl of sweets here at home is almost always empty. Well, it’s because we either eat it right away, or refrain from refilling it to control our sugar But I will definitely refill it this weekend.

Do you have a bowl of sweets too? What kind of treats do you prefer in your bowl?

My nephew has the elusive green thumb in the family. The small patch of soil in front of my mom’s house is now his mini garden.

Ever since he grew his first batch of eggplants, my moms neighbors have been anticipating his other “produce”. They said it just tasted really different, fresh, crisp, and clean is how they described it. Knowing that eggplants are one of my favorites in the whole wide world, he did save a couple for me to taste. Funny thing is, he couldn’t hide it well enough. My mom found them and cooked them too (it’s her fave too).

His “own garden” actually makes me think about trying more organic produce. I know it has a lot of benefits and advantages, especially health-wise, but a bit more costly than commercially available products. Another thing I’m really curious about is organic wine. I didn’t know that there were organic wines available and searching online brought me to Prosecco wine. I’m so curious about how different it would taste like that I’m so tempted to buy one especially since I love Sparkling wines!

I believe it was a year ago when my little girl last woke up in the middle of the night. I also noticed that she doesn’t move too much when sleeping for a year and a half now. It makes me think if it’s time for her to have her own room, or at least her own bed.

With her having her own bed, it will be easier for us to “break in” the idea of her having her own room in a year or two. I know it might be tough for her since she’s co-slept with us ever since and she’s gotten used to just knowing she’s safe because we’re right beside her.

But just in case she’s ready for it, we’re still planning on turning our other room as her bedroom. I’m looking at getting white childrens bedroom furniture for her room because it’s easier to spot and clean/treat pen marks or clay marks or other stains when they’re white. I’m leaning on making her bed and other night things playful but make sure that most of the furniture are white.

What do you think about white furniture for children? Don’t you just love the ones on the photos above from The White Company (oh and they have tons of great white stuff at their site). What color do you prefer for your child’s bedroom?
