I had an absolute blast this past Saturday at Green With Indie Craft Show! We want to send out a big, virtual hug to everyone who popped into our booth and made the show a success. Meeting fellow vintage addicts is our favorite past time (well, second-favorite behind vintage hunting of course!) and I met plenty this weekend. Representing the “West Coast” The Foundrie. The Foundrie is an independently owned shop in Chesterfield Mall, featuring handmade and vintage items. The Foundrie Owners Shelah McClymont and Elizabeth Hahn-Lawrence, each designers in their own right, take the utmost care in choosing the best, most unique products and displays to set The Foundrie apart from uninspired big box retailers.

Finally! We opened our Etsy shop today to give our out-of-towner fans a way to snag the vintage finds they’ve been eyeing via our Facebook and Instagram feeds. Stay tuned for fresh vintage added daily to the online shop + take note, local folks: all items are also available for purchase at our brick + mortar location Downtown Belleville. Happy shopping!

When designing spaces in our own homes, we tend to choreograph a collection from many eras. By integrating one-of-a-kind vintage pieces with current accents, it feels friendly and warm. Curate your own collection by choosing a color pallete and popping in your vintage bits in wherever they fit. We love vintage because each piece has its own story to tell, surviving the decades of another family’s home.

When choosing pieces for my daughter’s nursery (I’m due October 2nd), I chose a color pallete of coral and mint with white, and gold accents. I found a small collection of pieces, including a vintage oil-cloth deer stuffed toy and a dark grey round suitcase with a silver lining, that I wanted for her future space. Most of the vintage items for her nursery were purchased at My Vintage Addiction (yes, it is very convenient to own your own vintage shop!) including the turquoise rocker, Kent Coffey wardrobe, pennant, and turquoise rocking chair.

The changing table is actually a vintage buffet we have had at our house forever. My father made the frame for the changing pad out of old wooden shelves he had in the garage and mounted it to the top of the buffet. It can be removed without damaging the buffet, keeping the piece useful in either condition. We hung a select few vintage pieces and found objects (such as the old wire locker basket) around the large gold mirror we already had in the house. The wire basket is a space for us to hang photos or family trinkets.

One of my favorite vintage pieces is my grandfather’s paint palette. My mother recently found it in storage and the colors on the palette are just gorgeous! Talk about items with a bit of history…

We can’t wait for our daughter to arrive (only about 6 weeks away!), but we still have a few little projects remaining in the nursery. For now, I’ll take a breather from nesting and get back to work. Thursday, August 16th, My Vintage Addiction will be the start location for Belleville Main Street’s Diva Night. Beginning at 5pm, stop in the shop to nab your passport + this month’s Diva Gear along with a surprise gift from MVA. The evening ends at Pitcher’s around 8pm.

Treat yourself or a friend with something from one of our many specialty shops.  Stop at 7 businesses and get your passport stamped. Be sure to check out what each of our unique downtown stops is all about. Completed passports are returned at 8:00pm for the after party and Grand Prize drawing. Bring a friend or two and enjoy an evening out! The cost is just $5.00 per Diva.

While it’s a dreary, rainy day here in Belleville, we’re dreaming of summer vacation. It’s about that time, isn’t it? GetReadySetGo‘s upcycled vintage luggage is perfect for the summer traveler (and as a diaper bag for soon-to-be-dads, hello Husband Pants!). GetReadySetGo (a.k.a. Rachel) handpicks near-mint condition vintage bags and train cases and transforms them into one-of-a-kind pieces with her hand-painted designs. We’ve been a fan for a long time, so we had to have them in the shop!
