critter friends...

2012-07-03T14:36:00.008-05:00

A beautiful Cardinal came for a visit one hot summer day...t'was a great timing then, as I was looking out the porch staring at nothing....there this little creature came by!

and then on some days, another creature was busy munching on his snack in one of our neighbor's porch rail.

Yup, that's all I do lately, watch and wait for beautiful critters passing by...

I have not posted anything in so long just because a lot has happened lately good and bad and didn't have the right mood to write or share it...I guess most of it is not worth sharing anyway.

But for now will just post my quite updated Instagram pics...all just for the sake of posting! Will come back sooner than later with lots of real pics to share!

Be still my heart....

2012-05-08T00:19:00.014-05:00

Going through a difficult times lately...on the process of healing! It is sufficient that I take solace in God's comforting words.

“Be still and know that I am God!” is the first part of Psalm 46:10. Here, the word still comes from a Hebrew word meaning to “let go” or “release.” The meaning would be best understood to say “cause yourself to become restrained or to let go.” In other words, we need to come to a place where we are willing to submit ourselves to God and acknowledging that He is in sovereign control.
When we realize that we are truly incapable of controlling life, we can surrender our will to God’s will. It may be a matter of finally saying we trust Him. This will open the door so that we may experience the fullness of all God wants and has for us. After all, He is our Creator and has a perfect plan for us when we let Him orchestrate it."

And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” - 2 Corinthians 12:9

Amen to that Lord!

On a lighter note. I got my baby's recital dress last Thursday! Isn't it pretty? This is going to be our or her first Dance Recital on the 26th of May! We're all too excited about it!

Mall play area, not the best place for (some) kids after all....

2012-04-29T19:30:00.043-05:00

After church my daughter and I decided to have our lunch at the nearest mall just so she could play in the Mall Play Area (redundancy!)afterwards.

She was having a blast until one mom scolded her at the slide area! I was shocked at how she pointed her finger at my daughter's face like that as if she was talking to an adult! Apparently she was guiding her crawling baby up the front of the slide while the rest of the other kids lined up from behind (which is usually the case). It was my daughter's turn to slide, but the mom and her baby was there in front of her so she didn't know exactly what to do. The mom said something like, "wait! you can't slide yet, can't you see my baby's in here!" as she was pointing her finger to my daughter. I hurriedly took my daughter away from her, my poor baby who was shocked and on the verge of crying didn't understand what she did wrong! I even said sorry to the mom, (I mean I shouldn't have) and she said something like, "I'm just teaching her to follow instructions!" (Say what??)-- While I try to calm my nerves down, I thought maybe she should've gotten her baby away from the front, coz any kids will just slide away, as kids being themselves!

I felt bad and hurt for my child being treated as such! I mean I wouldn't do anything like that to any other kid. There are situations that are way beyond our control.

When I decided it's time to go home, my daughter threw a tantrum coz she isn't done playing yet. My day was ruined and I didn't want her day to get ruined as well, so I let her play for a few more minutes until she's all tired and hungry!

Oh well, all in a day!

I am hardly ever in photos... that's because I am the picture taker! Today, I took this rare chance of being in the picture (for a change!) with my daughter. It's not easy at all I tell ya, when you have to tackle your baby down to be with you and not move as much! Didn't know it's gonna be hard work! I commend those that does well with selfies and with their child in it!
very rare moments with my little one....love it to pieces!

stuck in a rut!

2012-04-23T18:06:00.010-05:00

Lately I've been kinda stuck in a rut and couldn't get myself outside to take photos for practice purposes! Mainly because I'm just a super busy doing mommy-duties all the time and just like every mommies out there, our child comes first before anything else, right? And another thing, my little one is a little bit vulnerable to outdoor elements and she gets sick very easily because of allergens and stuff like that! I don't even want to say it, but there goes my excuse!

What better way to spend your days indoors, why not take advantage of the situation and take photos of whatever amuses you...unfortunately, all I can see are my child's toys all over the floor, so I pick one up and played with it, in photos I mean! I can only do SOOC shots with all my photos, poor me. :(

There she is making the most of what's available-- portable iron board for a fun slide!

on Manual Mode

2012-04-10T18:13:00.016-05:00

I'm so glad I found Courtney's blog just recently and I absolutely had no idea how rewarding this could be. I've never been so excited to learn my whole life! ^_^

I know for a fact that I always love photography ever since I can remember...I had a subject unit in Basic Photography using film camera during my College years (a very long time ago! I know!) unfortunately with time and digital revolution, I kinda lost a lot, if not all, of that knowledge somewhere and had to start anew. And through her blog, it really is kind of a refresher course for me and it's for Free. Now ain't that sweet!

Yesterday while I was tinkering my camera, I felt the need to try on Manual Settings and tried to capture my little girl while playing. It took me hundreds of photos before I get some pictures right, it's not perfect I know, but I try as I go.(okay, hundreds is a bit exaggerating, but you get what I mean, dontcha!)

Here showing you a few out of the many tries. No editing done here, SOOC!

SS:1/160s f/1.8 ISO:1600

SS:1/160s f/1.8 ISO:800

Yes, I still need tons to learn, but I promise you this is something rewarding for me when I get it right (or so I think!)

I sure hope to have a lots of time in my hands to do some practice shooting indoors and outdoors. Right now, I take pictures at an even teeny-bitty chance I can get

Flashback Friday!

2012-04-06T17:06:00.001-05:00

Taken May of 2011...

This was one of those spur of the moment decisions to go for a stroll in the park! I googled this place called Arbor Hills Nature Preserve and it's about a mile away from where we live. It's a beautiful nature park much like what we all needed for some peace and quiet, also great for meditation! There's lots you can do for some family activities around here. Big playground for little ones and its shaded! You can do picnics there's bike trail, hiking and some walking is great. Gorgeous views, the works!!! ^_^

We started the walk and simply couldn't help clickin' on my camera at every chance I get...

Feelin' the breeze...

And of course some crazy jumpshots...

Sample shots

2012-04-02T14:22:00.042-05:00

Just a quick sample close-up shots from my new acquisition and see what the difference would be like from my previous posts you be the judge!

Quite obvious that this is just as great for general use especially for low light settings (indoors) and outdoor shots and I love the "bokeh" that it creates!

I mean for a couple hundred bucks it's definitely a fine lens!

New Lens

2012-04-01T13:54:00.032-05:00

I've waited for this moment to get my new lens, 35mm/1.8g and it's finally here! My camera isn't that great (Nikon D40x) so I opted for lens that works best for my camera and from which I can use on a daily-photography-basis.
I went to browse this website called B&H to check out some of the finest if not prime lens that would fit my very limited budget and here's what I found...I was leaning towards getting the 50mm 1.8g over the 35mm so I inquired which one to get for now, and here's what I needed to hear:

"The 2 lenses have 2 major differences.
1) focal length, the 35 is wider than the 50. On your camera, the 35 would be considered a "normal" lens, the 50 would be slightly telephoto and would be best for portraits.
2) the 50 is an FX model lens and should you in the future move up to a more advanced camera with a larger full frame sensor the 50 would work. The 35 will only work on cameras with the smaller APS-C size sensor similar to your D40X.
Both are excellent."

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G DX Lens

...and so it is!

I'm even more than a happy picture-taker! (^^,)

Spring is here!

2012-03-13T17:40:00.027-05:00

I love the idea of Spring because it means pretty flowers all in a row, no more heavy coats and shivering bones! But 2 things I don't like about Spring are the allergy bouts and tornadoes! I get scared to death each time the warning siren went off to alert residents to take cover or keep safe! Other than that, Spring is beautiful as a flower in full bloom!

Talking about Spring, I thought about sprucing up my tiny humble abode a little bit so I bought some flowers, those that I can keep indoors and some outdoors!

Gerbera Daisies...

While working on my desk one afternoon, I saw from my peripheral vision that something is moving, frolicking outside my window and this is what I saw!

Ain't he the cutest thing! I took multiple photos of this little guy...

During this week, my baby girl turned 4 but we had her celebration 2 days earlier. She was born March 13th and the celebration was held March 11 at none other than the famous Chuck E Cheese's!-- The ultimate fun place for kids, but the most stressful environment for moms, to me that is! ^_^

At the end of Love month!

2012-02-29T16:59:00.051-06:00

Here's a recap of what has been for the month of February!
Gettin' ready for some ballet class! She loves her ballet/tap dancing and she never want to miss her class. Other times, when I don't feel like going, she will bug me like hell.

My one year old topiary, you can tell I made it myself, can you? It's a mish-mash of whatver and haven't gotten around to fix it, or be done with it! ^_^

An apple pie a day keeps my hunger bouts away!

T'was a beautiful weather that day! After coming home from a quick grocery, I noticed that the tree beside our unit is filled with pretty cherry-like bat fruits, I thought it was beautiful sight so I took a photo of it! But I was told that it's poisonous!

Our hurricane candle vase creates perfect ambiance to our dull dining area...

I won this InPink fashion jewelry giveaway from one of my fave blogger MyFashionJuice. She's always generous with her giveaways, so go check her out.

My lil munchkin wanted me so much to do some baking just so she can join in and have fun with the mixing and the whipping, so we bought a Betty Crocker Just Add Water muffin mix.

Baking together with your little one sure is a beautiful experience and a great bonding moments...

PRICELESS!

I'm no cook nor a baker thank goodness for ready mixed available in most local stores.

I wanna make this a mother-daughter affair from now on.
