I went to Aisuru Sushi today! Newly opened Japanese restaurant, focus on delivering good quality sushi.

Their widely open space with huge windows attract lots of passer by. I even saw this girl walked pass staring at everyone's food! She didn't even blink her eyes! Quite funny :P

Anyway, nice wide open space. Nice sushi bar settings. Friendly service too.
We got there quite early so we got a nice table. (When we left, the place was packed. In fact, it was full house at around 7pm)

We had some food to start.

Edamame $3.50
Nothing fancy, would prefer it salted :)

Creamy Popcorn Shrimp $15.50
Delicious! I love everything about it! Prawns were fresh, batter were light and crispy and the sauce is yummy! Quite appetizing!

Salmon Skin & Unagi Roll $18.50
I like it! Well balanced and I like the charred flavour!! I must say the sushi rice was great.

Black Velvet Roll $12.00
I like the name of it.. Just sound so... satisfying. Unfortunately, the sushi didn't satisfies me as much. Probably feels like a fancier version of California roll? I would much prefer the Salmon Skin & Unagi Roll.

Sweet Corn Tempura $9.50
Interesting dish! Perfect batter, nice tasting & well cooked corns. Drizzled with Truffle Oil and Aioli. Wow! I like it! :D Definitely goes really really well with beer! Too bad they don't serve alcohol :P

Chicken Teriyaki, Rice & Salad $15.50
Honestly... not a very nice dish.. the chicken could be more tender.. sauce wasn't impressive.. salad looks disappointing. It just doesn't worth $15.50.. Felt like they didn't put much thought for this dish at all. I know they are focusing and good making sushi.. but making a basic Japanese Teriyaki shouldn't be that difficult...

Agedashi Tofu $8.50
Taste ordinary and a lil bit pricey for a piece?

Overall, I love their sushi. Wide range and they even have Foie Gras nigiri Sushi & Hokkaido Scallop sushi! I would love to try their Torch Roll too next time :D

Lunch @ Chapels on Whatley, Maylands

Frances and I found this place beautiful place while we were heading to Mrs S for lunch. This shop totally got our attention because of the beautiful antique looking tables and chairs and the prominent red umbrella.

Inside is even more interesting! Beautiful settings, cosy environment and very oriental. They speciallise in tea. Everything with Tea. Tea pots, tea cups, all kinds of tea leaves, and they even have a tea tasting experience. Check it out here.

Both of us browse around for a bit and we found a lil outdoor area for us to have our lunch.

The shop is separated into 3 sections, the front of the shop is all about tea, then the middle section is the dining area (indoor and outdoor) then the back bit is a shop selling antiques, reproduction artifacts and gifts.

Anyway, let's start with what we had for lunch!

2 pots of Tea. Frances had the French Tea - Creme de la creme
I had the Silk Oolong.

Served with beautiful China by Royal Albert. Very delicate and very classy :D

Service was great. The waiters were very friendly and attentive.

First up.
Fresh Rice Paper Spring Rolls.

Honestly fresh and delicious. I totally loved it! The crunch, the freshness of everything! To die for.

Frances had the Chicken curry pie

and Smoked salmon Korean Sour Salad for myself.
Our lunch is quite good but there's room for improvement. The chicken pie was a tad dry. Thats all :) My Salad is hell healthy haha! But a huge bowl of it.. it's a bit too much for me. hehe but good.

I wanna go back there again to try the food that other food bloggers raved about... like the kimchi pancakes and the scones maybe?

After lunch, we went to the back section of the shop.

The shop were beautifully decorated too. Everything is so neat and tidy. The stuff they sell is amazing.

You just have to go there to have a look yourself.

Our Early Valentine's Day Celebration

Hello~!!! How is everybody's weekend?? :D
My weekend was great! Well, I should say my Friday and Saturday was great as now is only 12 something in the afternoon while writing this post :P

Friday night is the usual friends hanging out night. We'll hang out at home talking crap, have a couple of drinks, have a good laugh, and the guys will have a ping pong marathon at home. I'm serious, it's really a marathon. They can play from 9pm-5am in the morning trashing each other. Well, while they are busy trashing each other, I did my Valentines Day Cupcakes ready to be delivered the next morning! :D

This is one of the Valentines cupcakes I did that night. It was ordered by one of my readers Imas. She is such a sweet girl! The reason because she requested to have the cupcakes written, one for her baby boy and another one for her hubby. What a sweet Valentine! Giving her loves to her family! I was touched by her love, I thought, it's Valentines Day, I shall share the love too! I made one more cupcake especially for her so they can each enjoy the cupcakes together! :)

On Saturday morning, Joe accompanied me to deliver the cupcakes. It was nice to see her, she's very friendly and her lil boy is soooooooooooo cute! We chatted a bit and guess what..

She made me delicious fritters!! So sweet of her :D
Nom nom nom~! Joe and I couldn't resist because it smells so good in the car.. so we ate a couple hehe.. Thanks Imas! Taste really yummy!

After that, Joe and I went to Planet Cafe at Mt Lawley to have breakfast. We agreed to celebrate our Valentines Day earlier because I will be working late on Valentines Day itself.

As Daily Planet Cafe is quite a new cafe and I have been wanting to go there since their opening, we decided to give it a shot.

No doubt, Planet Cafe is a nice looking cafe. Interesting layout and comfortable.

Joe had flat white and I had the usual English Breakfast.

Our breakfast was quite substantial!

Joe had the Bagel with smoked salmon sandwich and I had the 3 egg omelette with Tomato, mushrooms and smoked salmon.

I quite like my 3 egg omelette especially the tomato. I like the way the chef cook the tomato for some reason haha so juicy :D As for the omelette, it might need some more seasoning. Just felt a little bit tasteless.

Joe and I had a great long chat too sipping our coffee and tea. It was great!
After breakfast, we went home and have a short rest before heading to play badminton with a couple of friends.

I was really looking forward to play badminton as it was one of my favourite sport. Not a pro but I just like hitting the shuttercock. haha It's been soooooo soooooo long since I last play in a proper badminton court! I think since I was in high school?? Gowd.. I'm getting so old! hahaha

Anyway, our V Day celebration continues..

We went to the Polka Dot Vintage Fair at Scarborough Beach. We didn't know it's quite a small Fair so we didn't get ourselves anything..we walked around the beach and enjoyed the breeze :)

Our dinner was planed by Joe. He chose Blackbird Restaurant in East Perth because it's romantic and it has good reviews.

We chose to sit outside because of the view, the weather and I love the the street lights shining at the maple leaf tree. Accompanied with the French music that they played.. Gosh.. Felt like I'm in Paris!

For starters, Amuse Bouche.
It's Prosecco Citrus Granita.

Good choice to make the granita using Prosecco the Italian Sparkling Wine. Definitely good to start the night with a little alcohol! :P Refreshing start.

Then we had the bread too. The bread was home and freshly made! It has a hint of Indian spices too. Interesting bread! We love it.

Entree: Duck Parfait, Chutney and crisp bread

Entree: Master stock pork belly, lychee and water chestnet

Entree was good. Their plating up - spot on. Totally look like a photo from a food mag. Impressive! Flavour - two thumbs up. The only down part - my pork belly was a bit rough in texture.

Mains: Pork chop and scotch egg. It was on special that night, so I couldn't remember what full name of it. hehe

Main: Black Angus Sirloin and triple cooked hand cut frites with bearnaise.

The mains were absolutely delicious. Flavour - spot on! Plating - spot on!
Joe absolutely love the pork chop. the flavour is perfect and especially love it because it was a lil charred. As for the Angus, the bearnaise sauce was delicious! They surprised me with a few drops of truffle oil... it's oh so yum! Although the sirloin was a bit over cooked (I ordered medium rare) But with the sauce + truffle oil.. I'm happy.

Service was great too! Really polite and attentive!

Did a bit of a camwhoring to mark our lovely day. hehe

We finished our V day by watching The Vow at the La Premiere. I'm in love with the La Premiere seats! Sooooooo comfortable!!!

The Vow is a great movie. Unfortunately there's more sad part than love part. A bit regret choosing this movie because I thought it's a happy love story but it's okay! It is still a meaningful movie! :P haha Should watch it! Well probably not on Valentines Day haha

Dinner @ S & T Thai Restaurant, Northbridge

I should have blog about S & T Thai Restaurant ages ago as this is my favourite Thai Restaurant in Perth. Food is authentic, delicious and very Thai (because Thai people goes there)

I have been there so many times because I love (absolutely in love) with one of their dish.
It's their Raw Crab Papaya Salad.

I can seriously eat this everyday. I know it sounds weird because it's Raw Crab, but if you love the seafood and like the taste of the seafood fresh, you will like this. The salad is the most appetising dish because it is salty, sour, spicy, sweet and a lil seafoody taste! Mad love this dish.
The papaya is crunchy and fresh too. I like it medium hot although it might be quite spicy for some people. If you wanna try this dish and you can take chilli heat, order medium. Or else.. mild will be good.

My second favourite dish is Phat Thai. Huge plate of Phat Thai to share. Generous serving and delicious! Noodle cooked just right, not too oily.

Third would be the green curry.
Haha nothing special, but it goes really well with the rice hehe creamy and tasty.

Now, Joe's favourite dish in S & T is the Pork Larb. I like it too because it's not too heavy. Meat mixed with some coriander and onions toss with some sour sauce to balance up the flavour of the dish!

These are a must for Joe and I when we go there. :P But we are slowly trying new dishes every time we go there for dinner. A good dinner place to go to for good food and good price.

Breakfast @ Hoi Bo, Bedford

Last Saturday morning, I receive several comments from a person call Anonymous. One of the comments is about Chicken Rice!

I'm a Chicken Rice fan. So when a person told me there's a restaurant that serves yummy Chicken Rice, I will be there! Pretty much straight away. Haha.

I went to Hoi Bo (this is the chicken rice recommended place) at Bedford at 11.15am, thinking we are still early as they open at 11am, so we should be able to get a table.

Yes we got a table. Lucky! Guess what, there's only 2-3 tables left! Wow.. near full house after 15 mins from opening business.

This restaurant is full of Asian. That's shows that this restaurant is good isn't it?

We ordered 2 types of Chicken rice. The Steamed and the dark soya sauce chicken.
The service was fast and efficient i must say. First up, A big bowl of rice and soup!

The soup was delicious! Seriously yum! It's the preserved vegetables soup. I used to drink this when I was young, my mom would always boil this soup for me because it's my favourite. Ahh.. I want this soup againnnnn.....

and here comes the Chickenssss...

The chickens were succulent for sure, smooth too. I prefer the Steam Chicken as it has the garlic oil to give the chicken extra flavour. Pretty sure there are no other restaurants in Perth does Garlic Oil on chicken rice. That's pretty authentic.

But to be honest, I think the flavour of both of the chickens were quite bland. (OMG I sound like the girl from MKR.. yeah! yeah~ yeah...) Although they cooked the chicken well, unfortunately lack of flavouring. This is just my personal thought anyway, everybody's opinions on authenticity of chicken rice is different. Do go try it! You might like it :)

But I will go there again on the weekends for their 'Saturday & Sunday Malaysian Lunch Special' 11am-2pm. Most dish only $9.50! I wanna try their Nasi Lemak, Laksa, Prawn Mee, Char kuey teow & hokkien mee! Oh how I wish they have Asam Laksa! Maybe if everybody request them to do it, they might consider.. hahaha

Wonderful week of CNY in Perth :D

How's everyone's CNY? Did everyone enjoy this festive season?
If you hang around Northbridge anytime last week, I'm sure you saw lots of lion dances around!

For my second week of CNY, I got my first red packet from our friends Franky and Mira! The first couple from our group that got married last year. A few of us went to his house to "Bai Nian".

Such a weird feeling that my friends gave me red packet! hahaha I'm used to receive red packet from elderly :P Wow.. I'm getting old am I??

They cooked us a meal that I have never tried before!

Korean rice cake soup and Chinese style "Pen Chai" Mix pot.

The Rice Cake soup was delicious! I can't stop eating it!
Very delicious stock and rice cake is just nice.

As for the Chinese style Mix Pot, I think it consist of 13 or 18 ingredients in it. I can't remember how many exactly but the reason why they have to have those number of ingredients is for luck.

Taste really yum! I like it too!

After that we sat around the TV and cheer for the Tennis game! It was quite intense!!

and Djocovic won the semi final. Did you see the butterfly? :D

After that, we played "Yu Ha Hai" game! Translation should be Fish Prawn Crab!

Basically you just put the money on the animal that you wanna bet on and roll the dice to see which one wins! Easy game! :D

That conclude our night on Friday.

On Saturday, I went to have Brunch with Joe at Hai Bo near Inglewood. A reader told me about this place so I decided to give it a go! Will blog about it soon.

After that I went to Laneway Night Market with my cousin.

It's quite a cool and small market. Lots of quirky and vintage stuff. One of my cousin's favourite is the huge sushi pillow. I think it's a pillow.. ? haha it's cute!

As for me, I like the Tacos!

Poor guy making Tacos on a hot day of 40 degrees! I'm sure he is sweating like Djokovic. But his Tacos were yum! We had the Beef and Pork ones as the Beans sold out.

Then I saw the Burlesque boys running around Northbridge to promote their show at the Fringe World.

After that, went back to my cousin's house to bake! We were quite drained from the hot day so we weren't as energetic.. but we still manage to bake some yummy cookies! It's not an ordinary cookie... it's my favourite cookies that my mom always baked on CNY!

I'm so glad it turned out good!!! Not as pretty as my mom's but definitely taste as good! :D
I packed some in a container for my aunt too. Tadaa~~~!!! Look so pro!!! hahaa I think I can sell cookies too now :P

My aunt invited me to her house to have Popiah feast!
Look at how much food she prepared!

Popiah is Fujian/Fuzhou style Fresh Spring roll. Put whatever you want on the paper like crepe, roll it up and Nom!

Haha I didn't do very well in wrapping it. :P

After that we have Malaysian Ice Kacang!!! OMG look! My aunt got the ice kacang machine! I want one!!

She prepares everything from scratch! Unbelievableeeeee...

Mmm... taste so authentic!

After that I went to the CNY festival at Northbridge with my cousin! We are the only ones that miss out all the family reunion dinners, family gathering and I'm missing out my favourite Bai Ti Kong Night! Thats the night where you can see fireworks everywhere around our house! ( I was writing this half way, I stopped and Facetime with my family while they are Bai Ti Kong-ing :P Wow!! I love iphone! Feels like I'm at home! hahahaha )

Anyway, back to CNY Festival in Northbridge! Lots of people there! Lots of food! performances!

We had coconut juice! Refreshinggggggg!!!

Saw some performance.. I didn't take a lot of photos though.. :P because it was a hot sunny day and too many people.

I end my Sunday with friends and family at home, having spicy steamboat and watch the tennis final, Djokovic Vs Nadal. The most intense game EVER!!! 5-6 hours game!! Aren't they tired??

Congrats Djokovic to win the game and of course Nadal for being such an awesome competitor!! They are both awesome!

Anyone been to Govindas before? I'm sure most of you have been there a thousand times!
Tell you something, it was my first time yesterday!
If it wasn't my friend Momoe brought me there for lunch, I wouldn't know the food there is so yum!

All you can eat delicious vegetarian food $10!!!
Rice, Dahl, mixed vegetable curry of the day, Pakora, dessert and drinks.
Lunch for $4.00 is a steal!

I was feeling a bit skeptical after I look at the food in the baymerie.

Left side is the sweets, and right side is savouries.
Basically, you just need to let him know you want the $10 buffet and food will be served pretty quickly!

Look at my $10 meal!

Huge plate of curry, rice, pappadum and a type of cake. A bowl of warm dessert and a cup of lassi. Honestly I have no idea what is what, but I have to say it is freaking delicious! I love it! The flavour of rice, potato curry and chick peas curry is perfect! After taking a spoon, you will just wanna shove yourself mad.
I love the dessert too! Not sure what is it call, but taste like Sticky date pudding except the sauce was condenced milk. My friend had 3-4 bowls of that because she loves it so much. I wish I can eat like her! haha

I couldn't finish everything because I was so full! Didn't even want to refill! :D Maybe I'm a small eater now hahaha 0_O

I would go back there again DEFINITELY.

My 2012 Chinese New Year in Perth

How is everyone's Chinese New Year?? Today is just the second day! If I'm in KL, I am most probably sitting on the couch right now, watching CNY TV shows munching all the pineapple tarts away.. and sipping chinese tea~

But since I'm not in KL with my family.. I celebrated CNY the whole weekend with my friends and my cousin here in Perth! Yes.. we both missing home and trying to make our CNY as festive as possible! For me, I started my CNY pretty much 1 week earlier by watching tons of TVB Hong Kong drama and listening to CNY radio station while making my Chinese New Year Cupcakes! That also one of the reason why I didn't blog for a whole week! haha busy busy making cupcakes and catching up on the HK dramasss!

On Friday night, a group of us that didn't go back for CNY had our Yee Sang at Lok Fuk Restaurant!

We had Lobster Noodles too.
It was great to celebrate the festive season with our close friends with lots of laughters!!

Saturday, we had the house cleaned and went for CNY groceries shopping. Bought some live crabs too for our reunion dinner!

I went shopping too to buy myself some new dresses for CNY! It's a tradition to wear new clothes new shoes on the first day of CNY. I ended up with 2 dresses for work, 1 top and 1 short pants. Oh and a pair of pretty sandals. :D

Sunday~!!! REUNION DINNER!! I was feeling quite excited for this day because I'm making my very first Yee Sang!

Bought some mandarin oranges too!

Tadaa!!! Yee Sang made by me! It was really easy and tasty! I followed Adam Liaw 's Dragon Yee Sang Recipe!

I change the lobster to salmon instead because I don't know if I know how to cook the lobster hehe.. but Salmon is good too!

All fresh ingredients which is great!

We had a feast at home! So much good food!!! Everyone can't wait to dig in! :D

In Between is a killer game. It's all from pure luck and it's kinda like a roller coaster playing this game. It's all good fun!

On the first day of CNY, it was my workmate's birthday too! I made some Yee Sang too for them to try.

They have no idea what it is but I told them it's the Chinese version of salad and what they need to do is toss it high and it gives you good luck!
They are keen on the good luck thing then anything else I think.. hahahaha Look at how we toss! All over the place! hahaha

It was good fun :D
after that we had yummy chocolate mudcake! It's so chocolateeeeeeeey!!! Yum.

Oh I saw Lion Dance too just outside Hawker's Cuisine! That just complete my CNY celebration :D

There will be Lion Dances in Northbridge if you wanna see the performance!
I know there will be one at Uncle Billy's tonight 9.15pm.
Probably some other restaurants too starts around 7pm. :D

I went to try this new place last week! This shop used to be That's a little Thai Restaurant that serves authentic Thai food. But for some reason, they shut down. :(

Anyway, Hwa Ro opened up and it was a good crowd when I walked in.

I had a glance when I got in and customers were all Koreans.. I thought.. this is a good sign hehehee

Because it was only 2 of us.. so we only ordered 2 dishes..
oh and Joe had a beer too.
The beer bottle is so cool! They got the thingy for you to test whether the beer is cold or not!

Good beer :)

They served us some sides. They are all very tasty! I love the one on top left. Soya sauce cabbage. Yum

Then we have the Kimchi Jjeem.
Boiled Sliced pork in pork bone soup with special sauce seasoned kimchi.
OMG we love this so so much!!
For $30, worth it!!! it can actually feed 4 people! (We take half away because we can't finish it.)

and we had Go Gal Bi too.
Grilled Mackerel with special sauce

This one is alright.. tasted so so but it's grilled to perfection though.

After that, we had a loooooong walk because we were so full from the meal!
Then I stopped by at Amore for Durian Ice Cream hehe.. Yum~~~

This year I'm gonna spend my Chinese New Year here in Perth!
Chinese New Year is quite a big thing for me! Every year my mom will ask me to decorate the house (which ends up being decorated by my sis anyway :P), we get to have a delicious vegetarian breakfast on the first day of Chinese New Year, bring bags of goodies to visit relatives, collect Ang Paos (Red Packet), eat all their snacks, watch Chinese New Year TV shows, then go home and count how much I got from the Ang Paos (favourite moment) hahahahaha kidding.

Do you do all these things too? Probably not the 'eat all their snacks' part.. hehehe
In our culture, we don't visit families empty handed. We will bring some CNY snacks, some mandarin oranges and more things when visiting someone. It's kind of a tradition. Sometimes can be quite a headache on what to get for others!

Well.. this is the time that I comes into rescue!!!

I seldom complains about things in my life here in my blog because I don't want to keep bad memories.

But today, I decided to have a good release here!!! A post about dishonesty, trouble, unfairness and whatever negative things you know off.

Last year December, just a few days before New Year, my car got hit by a person that I kinda know. Not really friends, it's like owner and clients relationship.

See my car! Dented in! :(
The worst part of it is not the dent!! It's that person is denying it!!!

Okay, the story goes like this.
I went to their house at night to get something fix. I parked my car behind 2 cars diagonally.
I'm very sure my car has no dent or anything before I walked into the house.

So, I got in, talk to girl who fix the thing, then about 10 minutes later, her boyfriend said that he is going out. Weird thing is.. when he told her, he was outside the house talking through the window (to her room) to her. That time I was wondering why did he tell her through the window and not the room door? Anyway, just a thought. So there he went.

5 minutes later, I say bye bye to the girl, as I was walking out towards my car, I saw a huge dent on the front bumper!

I was like in a freaking SHOCK! Where the hell this one came from??
Instantly, I look straight to the car in front of me, there are some light scratches. It was dark. So what I did was reverse my car a little and turn the headlight on! Now I can see the scratches clearly. It's not a big scratch or anything but that time, when I touch it, I definitely feel sandy.
I was curious for a while, this is her car, nobody drove it or anything but why there's scratches? and coincidently her left side back bumper scratched and my left front bumper dent and scratched?

If we talk about physics, this is totally logical. A move car reversed into a parked car = the parked car will get all the shit and move car will be alright.

I was being reasonable right?? Not trying to blame them or anything!

So I went knocked on the door, asking her if her car got scratched before, she was in doubt!
Err.. err.. hmm... <-- that's her response.
Showed her car scratches and she was wondering why she got it.

Then I showed her my DENT! She got a shock. I'm not blaming her! She was with me the whole time but what I suspect was her boyfriend!

We couldn't ask him at that time because he was out and the phone was at home. So I went home with that freaking dent.

Got home, and show it to Joe. He was very certain the dent wasn't there too the whole day! He had a closer look and found some purple paint mark on my car. He instantly asked me to call her and check what colour is her car. Guess what? It's PURPLE.

Okay, honestly, how many purple car in Perth!??! I can say Purple is a pretty unique colour for a car.

By that time, that guy called me back and asked me what happen. I told him the dent and he said he didn't know anything about it.

Seriously?? I got there 15 minutes and my car got a dent! You are the only one that drives out! You have her car keys! It was super dark and my car was dark too! I'm pretty sure you were blind that time and reverse her car into mine! Not surprise at all!

Joe and I drove all the way back there to talk about it. Hoping he will tell us the truth.
Expected, he didn't. He lied all the way again.

Isn't it obvious?? I think it is damn obvious.

The photos was taken in the morning the next day when it is clearer. Her car's scratches were smooth. He / she basically cleaned off the evidence.

I did report to the insurance and did a online police report. Hoping the insurance can help me with it. I'm under Swann Insurance. Didn't hear anything from them til the following week. I didn't drive my car at all for the whole week because I was waiting for the Swann Insurance to give me a call to tell me they will send a inspector to inspect my car. Instead of that, they rang me and asked me to drive to the panel beater and get a quote.

So I did it. The next few days, I got an email saying I can continue to pay the excess and get my car fix. I was in shock! Why do I have to pay for the excess when it is not even my fault?! It's not like a hit and run! I actually know that person!!!

I was really upset. VERY UPSET. I resend the photos and email them the details hoping they can check it properly this time and hoping they can ask an inspector to see who's actually at fault.

Swann Insurance let me down. They didn't have the inspector to check. They just rang me and said there's not enough evidence to proof that he actually hit my car. and told me that the car is blue, not purple. WHAT THE?!?! R U COLOUR BLIND?? You didn't even bother to come and check and you said her car is blue?!

If you measure it, their bumper can actually fit into the dent on my front bumper! Just nice!!!

I am really disappointed. Disappointed I didn't get the justice that I want. Disappointed at my Insurance company because they didn't do their job properly. Disappointed I'm letting the liar run free. (They are probably laughing at me right now)

From what people tell me, SGIO will send an inspector to check the cars to see who's at fault and there's these other insurance company too that did a great job. Why is mine not?

I am considering to switch to other insurance company after paying that stupid excess to get my car fixed.
As if I'm rich. FML.

God, if you can hear me, please make all these liars disappear in my life. PLEASE! I don't want to see them ever again!!! :`(

Shhhh... Leen is getting older!!!

Made this cake especially for her! Everything mean something about her.. hehehe

I'm glad I surprised her with this cake! She probably knows I did something for her but didn't know I made this! (Hopefully! :P)

I brought her to the newly opened Sake Bar in Northbridge! Sake bar is now my favourite Japanese restaurant! Been there 3 times since opening! I can say I have tried most of the dishes! :D I think I can work there soon. hahaha

We had a whole table of food! It was kinda insane! We had Viking roll, Quail legs, Aburi Sushi, Tofu Salad, Tori Karaage, Oisun, Giblets and the Omakase Bridge!!! Felt like taking that bridge home haha :P

So so good..!! I really like this place because of the interior, the service, the food, the food decos, the jap booth, the tatami area.. Everything! Oh and the Japanese cocktails!! It's awesome!

It was a great night! Lots of laughters, lots of food, lots of love!

My friend made me feel lucky today! She prepared a lovely meal for 3 of us for a girlie catch up! I have not felt this kinda warmness and love by friends for a long time.. So.. I would like to say thank you for preparing such wonderful meals for us! It was the best!

She bought everything, prepared everything, she even prepared nice serving plates! She knows I appreciates beautiful plates.. hahaha.. I was touched!

It's New Year! It's 2012!

Wow.. everybody seems to have New Year resolutions but somehow this year.. I don't have much in my mind! :P

I've done quite a lot of stuff since I started blogging in 2008. I can see that the number of hobbies that I have is increasing each year and my room has more and more stuff! It's out of control!

Well, if I really wanna make some resolutions this year.. it will be.. eating healthily, don't spend too much $$, spend less time on the computer, create more cute cupcake toppers, exercise and stay happy & positive!!!

I had a wonderful New Year's Eve yesterday! We had Taiwanese style spicy steamboat, played xbox kinect, saw beautiful fireworks, played sparkles, celebrated and surprised our friend Franky's birthday!! What a night!

and oh! I cleaned the squid myself!!! Joe decided to teach me how to clean it because he will do quite a bit of squiding this year as his friend Will is mad in love with squiding. I don't mind~ I quite like squid anyway hehe

The reason why I was cleaning the squid is because we were preparing all the ingredients for steamboat for the night at a friend's place. Totally love the Taiwanese style spicy steamboat. We had 3 steamboats going. There were a normal non spicy pot, half non spicy and half spicy pot and the 3rd one is spicy pot. We can totally open a steamboat restaurant haha

We had a bit of rest and clean up the area for the birthday boy. He knows we are celebrating his birthday but definitely didn't know what we planned for him!

Franky recently has picked up a new hobby, which is painting. So we thought, we might as well get him a nice set of painting equipments to expand his hobby! All of us got him a nice easel with compartments, a painter apron, brushes, good acrylic paints and a few canvasses.

He loved it! He was impressed with the easel and stuff and thought that was it!
Then... we surprised him by telling him to use all these now and we are having a painting session together! That time he was quite tipsy as well! hahaha the boys have been celebrating NY a bit too early.

Joe and I set up the tables, gave everybody a square canvas that I have a traced image on. Most of them didn't know what's the lines all about on the canvas! After explaining to them, they got the idea of it and started painting! They were SERIOUS while painting as well!! I was really impressed!

Franky didn't know what they were painting but I don't think he has the time to find out anyway because he had a bigger canvas to paint on! It was funny!

Honestly, I was really surprised to see everyone concentrating on the painting. After observing them painting.. I really think everyone can be artsy and creative if they want it!

Now, below are the canvases that they painted! Nobody actually know how's the outcome is going to be like! We have our birthday boy to put them together like jigsaw puzzle. :D
He had no idea what is the painting all about and he manage to put them together... for quite a while hahaha

I had an Awesome 2011 Christmas

Wow! This year's Christmas is probably the most busiest Christmas I ever had in my life!
I'm loving it!
I started my Christmas pretty early.. A week before! haha.. Met up with friends that I haven't seen for a while and gave them my Christmas Cupcakes! I think they were quite shock that I made them. hehe.. I'm glad that they like it! :D

Then my workplace had a little office xmas lunch with secret santa! So much food and drinks!

The day before xmas eve, Joe and I went to Dan & Elle's house to have Christmas dinner. Elle cooked so much lovely food for all of us! It's soooo delicious! I just kept eating and eating while they were talking :P

The ham is just perfect! I can eat the whole ham by myself! Okay, maybe not in a day :P Then we had the lovely pavlova as well for dessert!! SOOOOooooo goood!!!

Then the time that I'm waiting for!! Opening the pressies!!

I'm such a sucker for pressies. I don't know why! I just love pressies! Nicely wrap with cute papers, tie it with pretty ribbons, then you can tear the wrapper and box apart and there you go! There's something inside!!! :D
I love my pressie~ the M spoon that I always wanted and the beautiful jar of scented candle! Smell really really good too! Thank you secret santa~

On Christmas eve, we had BBQ at Alan's place!
The weather was nice, food was good and lots of laughters.

Joe and I came home around midnight to have a family Christmas night with Frances at home. We open a small bottle of champagne, sat around the Christmas tree and open pressies~ Best feeling ever~

We bought Karzan lots of gifts too! Santa Paws sent him a chewable card too! haha He loves his toys :) So cute!

Then on Christmas day, I prepared lunch for 3 of us (with Joe's help of course haha)
We had prepare summery entree, which is the Mango, avocado and Prawns appetizer. Mains is my mom's Chicken Chop with mushroom sauce. Sides are baked sweet potatoes and freshly picked tomatoes from our garden. Dessert is Chocolate Tofu Mousse. Oh and a glass of gin tonic. :P

We had a short rest after that and we watch a movie too! Guess what we watched! The famous Singaporean Movie - I not Stupid. hahaha

After the movie, we started our Boxing day party preparation.

Oh by the way, we roast a chicken for dinner. Yum!

Preparations for boxing day party aka birthday celebration is kinda insane. Cook 11 dishes and bake a cake for the birthday boy.

While he is cooking, I decorate the house a bit more and bake a cake ready for me to decorate the next day.

Boxing day party was great! We all had a great time! I have invited my blogger friend Lillian and her friend Cindy to our boxing day party. It was fun having them! They are so friendly and funny too! Best thing was all of us including my family friend Weiching kinda have our Malaysian group at one corner, chatting happily away about Malaysia! Surprisingly found out that Cindy was actually studied the same college as me in Sunway! We know the same lecturers but just different year. What a small world!

Joe prepared all these dishes for the party! Alan prepared the Ox tongue, Franky prepared Fried Meehoon for the party too! Oh, I forgot to take some of the dishes... silly me.

Lillian brought her homemade macarons! Isn't it pretty?? So smooth and shiny!! Such a talented girl.

After dinner, we had a Quiz Night prepared by Franky and Joe especially for Mark's birthday! It's was hell fun!!! Everybody had a good laugh, scratching heads cuz they can't think of the answers and yelling out at the game host for more points!

After the games, we did the secret santa thing! Then a birthday song for the birthday boy!

Made this cake for him with my limited skills on fondant modeling. It's a rush job + never decorate a whole cake before. haha I did my best!! :P Him playing footy! with his West Coast Eagle shirt! Honestly the cake was a bit too sweet but happy it's edible haha oh wells!

Anyway, this is the gifts that I have received from everybody! So much loveeeeeeeeeee!!! I love all my gifts! I will slowly explore them throughout this year!

Festive season is here! Meaning me going insane again!
In a GOOD way. haha

The reason why I didn't blog for daysssss is because I was busy perfecting a gift. Edible gift.
I have planned it for quite some time and all I need to do is experiment it, design it, taste test it, and perfect it!

and I did it. :)

I am so so happy with the final product!
Staying up late making this is totally worth it! :D

I'm very happy because I have finally perfect the basic vanilla cupcake! Light and fluffy!! Top with light & not too sweet buttercream! Which is the most important part of the cupcake!
As I am giving these cupcakes to friends and family, I taste test these cupcakes like.. so many times! Just to find the flavour and texture that I'm looking for.

After I'm happy with the cupcakes, now it's time to make the Christmas toppers!
Making these toppers is probably my favourite part of the process. :D
My ideas just kept expanding while I'm kneading the fondant and kept making more toppers!
I'm in love making the toppers!

I had one of my friend to come around and do this with me, I think I have kinda tini tiny winny shocked her for a little bit after looking at a table full of stuff just to make the Christmas toppers. She is one talented girl too! Learned really quickly and the most precious moment is when I saw her happy and excited face after making the toppers!
Well, actually both of us have that happy and excited face together haha like a little girl saw their favourite toy!

Now comes to transporting my cupcakes. I admit I am kinda fussy when it comes to packaging. I couldn't find a nice packaging that can hold 2 cupcakes in the shops. They either look plain or not my style. So yea.. I made my first and very own cupcake box! From measuring, creating, designing, cutting and putting them together!

My friends said I'm crazy, and I think I am too! Most of my friends and my cousin thinks that I bought the box! But they have to believe it because my cartoon character Mantou is printed on the box! Haha I just love their eyes big big and mouth big big look :P

Cupcakes all fitted in perfectly in the box and ready to go :)

I have given them all away as my christmas gift to my friends and family. Glad to see that they love it!

I miss my little snowmans... good thing is I have photograph them! Individually too! So I can look at them again every now and then haha

I was thinking... will any one of you would be interested to purchase the Christmas Cupcakes if I'm making them again for this coming Christmas (2011)? 7 days til Christmas! Maybe as a gift for your special someone? Please let me know if you are interested!

I met my blogger friend today for the first time after knowing each other through our blogs for one and 3 months!
Not sure if you remember about a post about her few months back, where she sent my a postcard all the way from US!

Anyway, I was glad that we finally met! Great time to meet because of Christmas too~! haha Everything just seems so beautiful although it's quite a hot summer day here. We contacted each other through twitter and finally agreed to meet up at The Tuck Shop in Northbridge.

A few weeks ago, me and my friends were playing with Instagram liking each other's photos. Then my friends asked me about a person call @iamlillian. (Me and Lillian like each others photos quite often too haha) They thought Lillian was my long time friend, because of the way we chat on Instagram! They were shocked when I said I haven't met Lillian before and I told them that we are blog buddies. haha. They just stared at me with weird eyes!

Few days ago, I told them that I'm meeting Lillian soon and they were quite excited for me! Honestly, I was nervous too! haha It's kinda weird but excited at the same time! You know.. just feel like going for a blind date! Nervous about all the "What if " !! But look at us!!!

We chatted for 2 and half solid hours and felt like old friends!!! I can't believe it! Lillian is such such such a nice and sweet and funny and lovely and down to earth girl! I'm so glad to meet her!

We both came with our handmade gifts! We are like kids excited and thrilled to receive pretty things!

I made her Christmas Cupcakes in a box! All from scratch! The cake, the decorations and even the box. I think she probably had a shock seeing it. Who the hell make things like this!?

I agree I went a bit crazy here but I really enjoyed it! Especially making for people that will appreciate it! It just make me really happy to see the happy faces when they receive my gifts unexpectedly! That feeling is their gift to me. :)

But hey, Lillian surprised me with her handmade MT tape bag and homemade macarons!!! PINK!

Thanks for the lovely gift Lillian, although you have already given me your handmade Christmas card!!! So much LOVEEEE!! hahaha :D
