You know what sucked about classic Risk? The Congo. Now, we have nothing against the real people who live there. (By the way, did you know they are the Kongo people even though everyone calls them Congolese? They don't even speak "Congolese" there, they speak Kikongo. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.) Anyway, the problem with Congo in classic Risk is that you couldn't fit a large number of units there. They were always spilling out into the rest of Africa and making life difficult. And don't even get us started on Europe! Halo Risk's map of Arcadia is way better. Our first impulse when unpacking these at the office was to run over to the Customer Service wing where they have the Mario Wall Graphics up and have an adventure with Mario, Luigi, Toad, Yoshi, and the Koopa Troopa. We ran them through the 8-bit landscape, collecting coins, stomping on Goombas, and.... oh, we should probably apologize to Zack for crushing his laptop when we hopped over his cube wall. And Jimmy for stomping on his head, thinking he was a Goomba. We're sure the chiropractor will be able to adjust your neck so your head's on straight again. When Office Manager Cindy kicked us out of the CS wing, we snagged some R/C vehicles, squished our plush friends into them, and had a crazy Mario Kart race through the other side of the office, which of course drove office dog Harley absolutely bonkers. Sadly, Toad was the slowest and met his death in her jaws. Oops. So, we can also add to the description of these plushies that they are certainly not dog toys. Harley annihilated Toad in exactly 0.3 seconds. Mario was so upset that he spun out of control, hitting a wall, giving Luigi the opportunity to speed into first place. Everyone was a winner! Except Toad. RIP Toad. Can you believe it's been 30 years since the original Alien movie? Some of our younger monkeys weren't even alive when it came out - but that doesn't stop them from being major fans. Touted as one of the greatest movie monsters of all time, the original Alien designed by H.R. Giger was an amazing sight to behold. Not to mention that it haunted our dreams for weeks - nay, MONTHS! But that's what kept us coming back, got our butts in the theater to see the sequel, and got our credit cards out to buy the DVDs to watch again and again at home. There's something about an iconic monster like the Alien that makes us both terrified and gleeful. ...which is why everyone at ThinkGeek HQ has been loving this figure! For starters, it's HUGE. It's built to the 18" = 6 feet scale, so in total, it's about 22" when it's standing up straight. The quality of the sculpt is amazing, with every little detail down to the shape of the hands true to the original film. (Speaking of that, since he is from the original Alien, you can see through his skull to the interior bone.) Its inner mouth can extend out or be tucked inside. The best part about this figure is the options for posing it. There are points of articulation in the neck, jaw, shoulders, elbows, chest, knees, and ankles and the tail is fully bendable, so there's a huge range of possibilities when it comes to displaying your new friend.
