The Complete Voting and Election Method -- The Election

The Election :-

[ I ] Following are the 2 criterias for candidates to remain in the Race :

1 ) Only those candidates with ' votes > de-votes ' .

2 ) The candidate should have atleast 25 % of all the positive votes cast . Just to ensure that the candidate does have a voter - base .

[ II ] In every Constituency , be it for the Lok Sabha or Assembly Elections , there will be many candidates from many Political Parties , as well as many Independents contesting .

1 ) If , out of all the contesting candidates , only 1 candidate has ' votes > de-votes ' , then he/she and/or his/her Party is the winner for that Constituency .

2 ) However , as likelyhood may suggest , more than 1 candidate and hence, more than 1 Political Party will have ' votes > de-votes ' .

So here , to elect the winner , we check the difference between every candidate's votes and de-votes . This leads us to the following 2 cases :

[ CASE 1 ] The smaller the difference between the votes and de-votes would mean that a lot of people do not want that candidate as their representatives , as much as a lot of other people do want that candidate to be their representatives . Selecting such a candidate would mean going against the wishes of a high percentage of people . Hence making for a very controversial decision without even a clean majority .

[ CASE 2 ] The bigger the difference between the votes and de-votes would mean that as much as people want this candidate to be their representative , the number of people who do not want this candidate as their representative is less . Hence , this is a more definitive and clear verdict . And a clean one at that .

[ III ] Hence , the candidate with the highest difference between votes and de-votes will be the eventual winner of that Constituency .

P.S - The political parties which have their candidate with a 'de-votes > votes' situation will be ruled out of that Constituency .

The Complete Voting and Election Method -- Compulsory Voting

-> COMPULSORY VOTING

With this ‘ New Voting and Election Method ‘ , a case may be made to make Voting COMPULSORY . Given that this METHOD gives a person the FREEDOM to express his views pretty clearly , accurately and adequately , why would a person still not want to VOTE ?

One of the most important reason can be that a person/group may feels that no political party/politician truly represents him/her/them and/or supports his/her/their views .
Else , he/she/they are simply not interested in the runnings of the country .
Also , it is a valid question to ask , as to whether the average citizen of the country actually has the necessary understanding about the current issues and of the solutions provided by the politicians/political parties . Does the common man understand the significance/importance or the insignificance/useless-ness of the policies , laws , schemes and commissions etc. etc. put forward by the politicians/political parties , to be able to cast a meaningfull VOTE ?
Plus , there are certain religious groups and religious people who give ‘ religious tradition ‘ as a reason to not VOTE .

People belonging to such , and other such varied thought process-es , are the ones most likely to be left-out of the ‘ democratic process of electing our representatives ‘ . This should not happen . After all, VOTING and ELECTING people who can REPRESENT us , our thoughts , views , aims , ambitions , culture and convey our feelings , is the 1^ST PRACTICAL STEP towards ensuring a FREE , FAIR and A DEMOCRATIC Country/Nation. And we cannot be faltering at the very FIRST step .

This problem can be avoided by adding a simple ‘tweak’ to the ‘ New Voting and Election Method ‘ . What we do? is add a ‘ NEGATIVE ALL ‘ column to the existing table. So that the table now becomes :

Candidate - Political Party	Vote	De-vote	Negative ALL

Candidate A
Candidate B
Candidate C
Candidate D
Candidate E

Every VOTE cast in the ‘ Negative – All ‘ column will be counted as 1 ‘ de–vote ‘ individually , against every candidate up for election( the person is rejecting every candidate individually ).
Needless to say , a person casting VOTE in the Negative-ALL column will be eligible to cast 1 and only 1 VOTE .

And this is how I make my case for COMPULSORY VOTING .

Night Life Destroyed : Pune

Year 2007 . Till then , everything was good . An Understatement , actually . Night was Lively . Fun . Adventurous . Night was on the Road . Rocking to the music of my Life .
Then , some person in the Pune police-rank was replaced . In came [ as the rumor goes ] Suryawanshi . What did he have AGAINST Night , I dont know . Maybe he was born at Night .

Anywhich-way . This guy was hell-bent on crushing out Pune's night-life . Reason he gave : Terrorism . Apparently , terrorists are blasting around the country, so Indians should not be going out at Night : was the logic that he and his officers gave us . Like as if a terrorist is going to come out at Night for a cup of tea or a game of pool .
To say nothing of the fact that he was actually asking us to be afraid of the terrorists .

Current Scene :
Rumors and incidents of hang-out places being attacked by the Police have become unnervingly common . And people who are present at the place being beaten-up by the police-sticks or the billiards-sticks is a given .
If you go out for a cup-of-tea or a game of pool , the owner generally tells you that today [ or rather tonight ] , such such Police is on the round . So have your tea/coffee/pool - whatever , quickly and quietly , then get out fast . Do not linger . Do not hang-out . No music . No loud-talk . Just get done with your business and get going .

The Night's been Hijacked . By the Police . In the name of Terrorism .

Now-a-days , going - out at night in Pune has become very dangerous because of the Police . You never know when the Police might attack .

The only reason that my friends and I meet-up at Night is to hang-out , have some fun , a cuttin-chai, a game of Pool . Its a wonderfull time to catch-up with friends and yourself . Go out . Have a nice drive . Enjoy the breeze . Enjoy the roads - the empty Roads . No people . No pollution . Just Your God and U . However , if you give any of these reasons to the Police , they look at you suspiciously . They , apparently , dont believe you . Like as if they dont know that Pune is a city-of-students .

And thats where our problems start . If the truth cant help you , then what can ?

The Complete Voting and Election Method -- The Voting

What I would like to do here is propose ' A New Voting and Election Method '

The effort is to design a ' Voting and Election Method ' based on the Concept of FREEDOM .

Now Freedom as a Concept , at the very basic level on the ground , can be seen as the 2 sides of the same coin . One side represents the appreciation , the acceptance . The other side represents the criticism , the rejection . And unless and untill these 2 extremes and everything in-between are adequately represented , FREEDOM IS NOT COMPLETE .

Hence , the Principle --

Given that we have the right to particularly vote for a candidate . We should also have the right to particularly de-vote a candidate .

The Voting :-

Every voter will have the option of casting , upto 2 votes i.e he can cast either 1 vote or 2 votes .
However , he can only cast 1 vote in each of the columns( i.e vote and de-vote columns ) .
Meaning , he may put in ' 1 vote | no de-vote ' . Or , he may put in ' no vote | 1 de-vote ' .
But he cannot vote-for 2 candidates , and he cannot de-vote 2 candidates either .

Ideally , a voter would be putting in ' 1 vote | 1 de-vote ' .

An Indian Prime Minister

For 50 years , India had nothing . Well , not exactly nothing . It had its corruption , castes , politians , massacres , hypocrisy and socialism . It had all sorts of in-fighting , even an Emergency . Politicians kept pulling eachother down , while the Indians continued with their existence . The people kept on getting betrayed and betrayed and could do nothing about it . Everybody talked and talked . And India had almost started believing that it will never come out of its rut and the vicious cycle of the Congress . And then , just as India had started sinking [ having had 3 PMs in about 5 years and extremist winds blowing stronger and stronger ] , One man came up and proved to India , its destiny . Someone actually delivered . And India changed .

We suddenly had all sorts of call-centres , BPOs and an IT sector employing millions of people , and bringing in millions and millions of dollars . The Aviation sector gave us wings and Tourism brought forth India to Indians like never before . To say nothing of the mobile revolution and their call-rates . Most importantly , the Indian skills were trusted . Given an Opportunity and a Challenge . The trust was repaid with success . Indian companies competed with the best in the world and came up trumps . The domestic sector and industries , for which there was a lot of concern , also showed that they had the brain and the balls to not just survive , but compete , thrive and expand . Stuff like malls , multiplexes , CCDs , Big Bazaars , Brand launches of everything , right from grocery and appliances to clothing and cars became an everyday thing . India and the world , finally , caught up on the Net . That person is Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee-ji . The Former Indian Prime Minister . This India that you see around you today has been given to you by him . It’s the result of his actions . His work . Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee-ji took charge when India was at its most vulnerable . Showed her a path and carried her to the light at the end of the tunnel. He single-handedly gave hope to a whole new generation of India . And brought them , and India , into the 21^stCentury with pride , honor and an unprecedented level of entrepreneur success . We not only re-affirmed our Nuclear status [ which the Congress had opposed ] , but also beat Pakistan in a war [ again ] . The base for the Indo-US Nuclear Deal was laid [ which the Congress had opposed ] . The Deal’s foundation is a good pointer to India’s remarkable soft-skills , which were put to a remarkable use . Also the Landmark Chandrayaan Mission [ which the Congress had , again , oppossed ] was launched . The list can go on and on . . .

Point to be noted : Just took 6 years of Vajpayee-ji to change India .

In the end , however , the most important lesson that we may learn from Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee-ji is that a good person , a person with integrity and principles can also succeed in India . That you can be honest and still do good things . That its ‘ Actions and Achievements ‘ that matter . He has been a Member of the Indian Parliament for more than 50 years now [ An achievement unmatched ] . And never once have his intentions or character been in question . He has worked quietly , selflessly , tirelessly for the betterment of India through years of isolation and desolation to ultimately reward India with the ability to once-again regain its place as the most successfull nation on the planet . Culturally . Historically . Economically . Militarily .

Had it not been for Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee-ji , U would still be drinking GoldSpot !
