So this came via e-mail today, 8/31/16. Ski Granby Ranch discounted lift tickets, on sale over the Labor Day weekend. 4 days for $99. That's about as cheap as it gets. The most expensive part of your ski trip, a lot cheaper, about 60% off. Get your 4 day lift ticket then get your room. Copy of the e-mail below with the info. P.S. Welcome to MyColoradoCondo! I am located at the Inn at SilverCreek in Granby, CO roughly 90 miles from Denver. There are many activities available in the area. Located about 1 mile from Granby Ranch (formerly Sol Vista Basin) and only 20 miles to Winter Park, Grand Lake, Hot Sulphur Springs and Rocky Mountain National Park. It is a great starting point for your vacation!

The loft suite was updated with new loft stairway, kitchen cabinets and appliances. The updated kitchen includes stove, fridge, microwave, dishwasher and new dishes/cookware. There is sleeping room for 6 with king bed, a murphy queen bed and sofa sleeper. There is room for 2 more with a king bed in lock off room. There is a fire place in the loft suite.

The Inn at SilverCreek includes an outdoor swimming pool that is open year round. The kids can swim in the snow! There are two outdoor hot tubs, two indoor soaking tubs, sauna and an updated workout facility with new equipment and racket ball court. There are tennis courts across the street. On site you will also find a bar and restaurant. There is also an on site ski rental shop, game room and salon. The front desk is available 24 hours.

Nearby, there are plenty of restaurants, gas stations and liquor stores in Granby. In addition, there is a full service grocery store (City Market) across the street (about 1 mile from the Inn).

Discounted Lift Tickets - where to find?

Lift ticket deals will soon be found. They usually kick off around the Labor Day holiday and once again around Thanksgiving. You'll usually find the best deals by going direct to the resorts websites during this time. Later in the spring, Winter Park will run specials for their April passes in late February thru early March. April skiing is one of my favorite times to go, a little warmer and the potential for a lot of late season snow. Sign up for the resorts e-mails, you won't miss the deals.

Ski Granby Ranch typically closes in early April. If you book lift tickets online through their website you receive a 20% discount.

Some other areas you might explore:

Lift tickets can be expensive, but if you take the time to look a little you can find some good deals. Most of the work has been done for you, look below or check out the links of local interest on the right for deals.

The Colorado Gems Card is a good deal for $20 if you can ski multiple resorts in Colorado. If you are just going to ski Granby it might not be that great since you only get a one time use of the 2 for 1 lift ticket purchase. www.coloradoski.com/colorado-gems-card The one time 2 for 1 lift tickets are also good at A-Basin, Eldora, Loveland, Monarch, Powderhorn, Ski Cooper and Sunlight. At the Gems website there is also information available at the site about the 5th (free) and 6th ($99) grade Passport program. The 5th Grade Passport program was easy to apply for, do it early. It can take a few weeks to get the pass in the mail. The Gems site will also occasionally provide flash deals.

Granby Ranch - 02/10/2014 - Powder!

Other items - Facebook - both Winter Park Resort and Granby Ranch have Facebook pages. Occasionally they will advertise deals or offers on there. For the past couple years on or around opening weekend Granby Ranch will have a local food pantry collection, you can get a free or discounted lift ticket with a few donated canned goods. Not a bad deal for a good cause. Winter Park will send out offers e-mail.

I have not tried this one yet - the "E book" is a $10 discount coupon book with discounts for lift tickets, rentals and other items (food, auto service, movies, etc...) go to eduproject.com for more information.

Military Discounts - both Winter Park and Granby offer them. Winterpark discount varies between week day and weekend but it was about 40% off. My friend was able to buy tickets for his family with no issues. Only catch was they would not allow multiple day purchases. Granby also offers a Military Discount, but they don't seem to advertise it on their site or ticket window. It was a very good discount, 50% off the daily lift ticket. The catch, each family member (includes children) had to show their military ID.

If you want a cheap experience, Granby Ranch offers night skiing on Friday and Saturday nights with lift tickets running $14 to ski from 5pm-8pm on a limited number of runs. Look in the local paper (Sky Hi Daily News which is free and found most everywhere) for a $5 coupon or just ski and have fun.

Final Option - SUMMER TIME! - Both locations will put four pack lift tickets up for sale in the summer, when no one is thinking of snow. Granby has typically had their four pack lift tickets available for $99 and Winter Park's four pack is usually $179. Both are usually no longer available once you get to September.

The unit can sleep 2 in the traditional room, sleep 6 in the loft or 8 if you reserve both. You are only 5 minutes away and can see the top of the runs at Granby from the deck. It is 20 minutes to Winter Park.

Things to do in the Spring, Summer and Fall!

Rocky Mountain National Park and Trail Ridge Road are just a short drive away. TRR is the highest continuous road in the United States reaching 12,183 ft at it's highest point and connects the east and west sides of Rocky Mountain National Park. There is plenty of wildlife to view in the area as well as many great hiking trails for all abilities. https://www.nps.gov/romo for information on the park.

Golf - challenge yourself at one of the local courses!

Golf Granby Ranch (Headwaters) - 18 holes located just over the hill
Pole Creek - 27 holes and is a few miles away
Grand Elk Ranch & Golf Club - 18 holes and right down the road
Grand Lake Golf Course - 18 holes and located near Grand Lake about 15 miles

The Mountain Bike scene is a great way to spend a day or more. Bike Granby Ranch (Sol Vista) and Winter Park's Trestle Bike Park are some of the best there are.

Fishing is always a good time, check out the area lakes, rivers and streams!

Wifi is now available throughout the Inn. So now you can check up on e-mail, Facebook and waste time in your room, on the internet, instead of going out and having fun in the great outdoors! Previously the only free internet access available was in the lobby. Hope you enjoy the new access.

Thought I'd throw some ski lingo out there for you to have a little fun with. You hear all kinds of stuff on the mountain. It can be pretty funny. Gnar Gnar POW POW!

Apres Ski - The night-life of a ski area, preferred by some to slope-side activities.
Biff - To bump the snow with your body, as in a brief uphill fall and quick recovery.
Bono - Skiing full-speed into a tree. (tackey I know)
Butt-Dragger - Beginning snowboarder.
Chocolate Chips - A cluster of rocks poking out of the snow.
Corn - A type of spring snow that forms into small, light pellets.
Crust - Frozen surface covering loose snow.
Freshies - Fresh, untracked snow.
Gnar (Gnarly) - Very challenging conditions.
Lift-Lickers - Children who can't resist freezing their tongues to the chairlift
Posing - Trying to get noticed.
Pow (Pow-Pow, Powder) - Light, dry, fluffy snow
Powder Hound - Skier preoccupied with sniffing out powder stashes.

The 2012/2013 ski season is only a few short weeks away and hopefully the snow is plentiful this season. Reserve your dates now. Winter Park is scheduled to open on November 14th and Ski Granby Ranch (Sol Vista Basin) is scheduled to open on December 12th. Ski Granby Ranch has night skiing and tubing on Friday and Saturday nights. Check the links area for discount lift tickets and conditions.

If you don't have skis or boards, rentals are easy. You can rent them right in the lobby of the Inn through the Ski Depot Sports. Check with the front desk, sometimes they have discount coupons.

If you're not a skier, there are plenty of other things to do in the area like ice fish, sleigh rides, dog sleds, snowmobile rentals, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, hot springs, ice skating.

This past year there have been some updates in our unit. There is new furniture and tv in the living area of the loft. The tubs in the bathroom have been updated with a faux granite finish. The Inn has made some improvements as well this past year and more are planned for 2013.
