Can say Albert Eistein is my favorite scientist and had always chose him to be my project work during my schooling time. His work is truly fascinating and awe-inspiring. Sometimes, I wonder how was he able to achieve great success in his career. I guess determination, hard work and sacrifice were among the other excellent characteristics he possessed in achieving pure excellence and true success.

What motivates me to write this post is a site which I stumbled upon, containing some quotes from the great man himself. Totally remembering what I have learnt of him in school, I hope that the quotes will be meaningful and educational to whoever happens to read this post.

Macaroni

Hmmm... yum.. yum... The mere mention of macaroni makes me drool. I love macaroni! Cook it about once a week. How I'd wish I can cook it often, but am afraid the family may get tired of it. So, I have decided to feast the family with this favourite pasta of mine every weekend.

The way I like to cook it... is to stir fry it. Here is my very simple and basic recipe on how to cook macaroni. Savour....

Ingredients :-

1 packet of macaroni (or 2 for my family)
dried chillies, onions and garlic all blended
your favourite vegetables, carrots or sawi for me
minced meat
salt and pepper to taste
a few eggs
soy sauce

Method :-

Boil macaroni till it softens for about 10 minutes.
Drain it dry.
Heat oil in a pan
Stir fry the blended paste till fragrant
Add minced meat and cook till soft
Add the vegetables
Break the eggs into the pan and mix through
Add salt, pepper and soy sauce according to taste
Throw in the macaroni
Mix well for a few minutes
Serve hot.

Very easy and delicious indeed. A simple dish that takes only about 45 minutes to prepare and cook. Any Tom, Dick or Harry is able to conjure up this tasty dish. Try it!

Aromatherapy

Are any of you familiar with Aromatherapy? Well, I am not really well-versed in it, though I do read that Aromatherapy has lots of healing properties for the human body.

What is Aromatherapy?

From what I read, Aromatherapy is the technique of using essences from plants to balance, harmonize and promote the health of body, mind and spirit.

It is the exploration of the physiological, psychological and spiritual realm of the body's response to aromatic extracts. It is also used to observe and enhance the body's healing process. As a holistic medicine, Aromatherapy is both a preventative approach as well as an active treatment for illnesses.

Actually, aromatherapy is closer to you than you think it is. The normal medicated oil applied or smelt during headaches is considered aromatherapy treatment. The fragrance bottle that you placed in the house also has the same relieving and calming effect on us.

I found these tips in the Internet about Aromatherapy, wanted to share it here and hopefully others can learn a trick or two about Aromatherapy and its healing powers.

DON'T: Don't buy perfume oils thinking they are the same thing as essential oils. Perfume oils do not offer the therapeutic benefits of essential oils. Even if you only intend on using aromatherapy in your lifestyle for the sheer enjoyment of the aroma, essential oils that are breathed in can offer therapeutic benefits. These benefits do not occur with the use of perfume oils.

DON'T: Don't buy essential oils with rubber glass dropper tops. Essential oils are very concentrated and will turn the rubber to a gum thus ruining the oil.

DO: Read as much as you can on Aromatherapy. It is very easy to get started with Aromatherapy, but there are safety issues that you need to be aware of.

DO: Be selective of where you purchase your essential oils. The quality of essential oils varies widely from company to company. Additionally, some companies may falsely claim that their oils are undiluted or pure when they aren't.

DO: Learn to compare apples to apples when shopping for oils. Anise, Lavender, Bay, Cedarwood, and Eucalyptus are examples of the common names of plants used to create essential oils. There, however, are different varieties of each of these plants. To differential these varieties, the botanical name is used to tell them apart. For instance, two different oils are referred to as "Bay essential oil," yet they come from two different plants. The properties and aroma of each oil do differ as does the general cost between the two. It, therefore, is important to pay attention to the botanical name.

DO: It is also helpful to note the country of origin for the oil. Most good essential oil sellers will readily supply the botanical names and country of origin for the oils that they sell. When comparing one company's oils with another's, also pay attention to if either company's oils are organic, wild-crafted or ethically farmed.

DON'T: It is wise not to purchase oils from vendors at street fairs, craft shows, or other limited-time events. Some vendors know beginners have no recourse against them later. This is not to say that there are not highly reputable sellers at such events, but this is a caution for beginners who are not able to reliably judge quality.

DO: Purchasing oils from reputable mail-order companies may result in obtaining higher quality oils at less expense than purchasing oils from a generic local health food establishment. Again, there is a wide variance in the quality of oils from company to company and store to store.

DO: Store your oils in dark glass (amber or cobalt blue) and in a cool, dark place. I have two wooden hinged boxes that I store some of my oils in. Unfinished wooden boxes may be purchased at craft stores. These boxes allow me to move my oils from different areas of the house easily. Wooden floppy disk holders can also serve this purpose well.

DO: Pay special attention to all safety information on all essential oils that you use. This is even more important if you have any medical condition or are pregnant.

Punctuations in writing

Disclaimer first : I am not an expert in the art of writing. Just happened to read a few articles on the role of punctuations in writing.

I have found them useful, and would like to share the tips with others. Punctuations is important because it will make the writing easy to read without being misunderstood.

Proper use of punctuations convey the messages effectively and clearly. Punctuations enable the readers to stop, pause and pace their reading to further understand the context better. I am not saying that I never engaged in punctuation errors before in my life. Frankly, I have made tonnes of errors. And as time goes by, I learnt the proper use and placing of punctuations.

Have you ever read a piece of writing, and find it hard to understand cause the punctuations are all over the place? More often that not, you will end up in confusion about the purpose and the motive of the text. To put it bluntly, you may even feel that the writer is uneducated and illiterate.

So, it is essential to try to get your own punctuations right, in avoiding your readers feeling baffled and bored. Especially not to make them think you are incapable of writing a decent piece of work.

Some of the very familiar punctuations are :

The full stop

Full stop make long sentences into shorter ones. Consider these examples :

Eg. 1 'Finally they reached a decision the meeting will be held next week.'

Eg. 2 'Finally they reached a decision(.) The meeting will be held next week.'

Look at the use of full stop in the second example. It makes the text easier to understand.

The comma

Commas are usually used to separate clauses linked by conjunctions, such as 'and', 'but', 'for' and 'nor'.

Eg.1 'The building was old the car park was new.'

Eg.2 'The building was old (,) but the car park was new.'

Note the use of comma followed by the conjunction 'but'. It makes the sentence looking much neater and sharper.

The dash

Dash is often used to include a detail in a sentence without being structurally essential to it.

Observe these three different punctuations with the same main purpose,

Eg. 1 'The teacher, who is a neighbour of mine, is a good man.' (use of commas)

Eg. 2 'The teacher (who is a neighbour of mine) is a good man.' (use of brackets)

Eg. 3 'The teacher - who is a neighbour of mine - is a good man.' (use of dashes)

Among the 3 punctuations used above, the dash is the most striking to the readers in terms of visibility. Thus, making the sentence much clearer and better to understand.

Quotation marks

Quotation Marks are used, when direct speech from a person or quotes from a book is brought into a text.

Eg.1 As Danny said, 'Finders keepers, losers weepers.'

Eg.2 'Once broken, considered sold,' stated a sign at shop's main door.

The use of quotation marks tell us that the sentence is being lifted from other sources and not from the author himself.

Question mark

The most straightforward and easiest to use among all the punctuations family. It comes at the end of any question.

Eg. 1 'Have you had your dinner?'

Yes, it is the easiest to use, but if left out, confusions may occur.

Eg. 2 'Coming?'

Eg. 3 'Coming.'

Note that Eg2 and 3 have different meanings altogether. Eg 2 is a question and Eg3 is a statement. So, it may be helpful to double check the insertion of question marks when asking questions to avoid misunderstanding.

There are many other punctuation marks in the English grammar, namely the hyphen (-), the semicolon (;), the colon (:), the apostrophe ('), the exclamation mark (!), the brackets () and the slash (/).

Will further explain briefly the use of these punctuations in my later posts. Hope that the tips above is quite useful in managing punctuations in your writing.

Lost

Ok, I guess many are familiar with the once-hit TV series, LOST. I first watched it in 2005 and became instantly hooked to the series. Besides, being unique and different, there is an element of mystery and intrigue that ebbed me on to continue watching it till the end of Season Two.

Sadly, when Season Three started, I am disappointed with the it's slow and draggy episodes. Feeling no more enthusiasm and excitement of the past two seasons, my interest towards Lost, faded gradually. And now, I have literally 'lost' the plot altogether. Whenever I caught occasional glimpses of the episode on air, couldn't help but feel a certain kind of regret. Why can't Lost keep the game interesting to engage the viewers? Well, I'd guess all good things come to an end.

I can still remember clearly in Season 1, when the plane crashed into nowhere, bringing with it, people from all walks of life. To survive, they have to work together, put aside their differences and struggle to find answers. The first season saw their survival threatened by unseen creatures. And they met a Frenchwomen, who had been in the jungle for the last 16 years.

In Season Two, the survivors had discovered the existence of the Others, whom they thought to be dangerous. More new characters were introduced and some old ones scrapped out. Deeper mysteries about the Island began to unfold. They discovered a hatch, explored it and found the secret of the Dharma Initiative and the Hanso Foundation. Towards the end of Season Two, the cause of the crash was explained.

A bit blur about Season Three, but I think it is about the discovery of new crash survivors and how they came into the island. A clash soon ensued between the survivors and the Others. I got a bit excited when the survivors managed to get into contact with the outside world.

Please do not ask me what happens in Season 4, cause I really have not the slightest clue of what it is all about. Now, in the US, they are gearing up for Season 5, which I am pretty sure will not be watching.

However, I definitely not be missing out on the Lost Final Season 6. For all the bad reviews I have given, still have a soft spot for it and looking forward to see how the Series end. Just have to wait for two years for it to be premiered on TV.

David Archuletta - Angels

Even though I come from the other side of the world, but I still watch American Idol, the number 1 singing competition internationally.

Last season winner was David Cooks and have to admit I felt pissed and disappointed that Archuletta did not prevail instead. Considering the positive comments he had been getting from the judges, I was sure beyond any clouded doubt that the young David will get the title.

But alas, it was not meant to be and the better singer won. David Cooks, is a good singer and performer. I have to admit that he fully deserved the American Idol title.

Nevertheless, my heart still goes to Archuletta and all his songs. May he become successful in his singing career, which I am pretty sure he will.

Watch him sing 'Angels' - my favourite among the songs he sang.

Oh my, isn't he adorable. What a nice voice!

As kids see it.

Kids... the way they see and respond to things and situations are different from adults. They see the world in a clear and simple way that only they can understand. The funny side, is that they often call things literally the way they are, with plain innocence and excusable ignorance.

As a mother of many young children myself, I could not help but to be rolling on the floor laughing at their innocent remarks or exclaims. Most often than not, things that they consider serious or intriguing, might turn out to be funny or hilarious to us.

Apart from my own experience dealing with these funny antics of young children, I have read or come across short stories of kids reacting to situations or instances in a humorous way. Enjoy...
kids and the way they see the world.

My seven-year old daughter, Megan, was selling cookies door to door. after hearing her sales pitch, one lady said she couldn't buy any because she had no money on her. Megan's innocent reply was, "if you want, I could wait here while you go check your purse."

This is an fine example of how kids do not see the meaning behind what is being said and taking the words literally. So cute, this Megan girl.

A little boy got lost at the YMCA and found himself in the women's locker room. When he was spotted, the room burst into shrieks, with ladies grabbing towels and running for cover. The little boy watched in amazement and then asked, "What's the matter haven't you ever seen a little boy before?"

This little boy has not yet understand the line and boundary between the opposite sexes, Not to worry, he will learn soon enough.

A little girl was watching her parents dress for a party. When she saw her dad donning his tuxedo, she warned, "Daddy, you shouldn't wear that suit." "And why not, darling?" "You know that it always gives you a headache the next morning."

Such innocence. She does not relate that is is because of her father drinking and not the tuxedo which leaves him 'hangovered' the next morning.

On the bus in backed up traffic, my husband, Philip, told our 6-year old son, Matthew, that there are a lot of cars during rush hour because every one's rushing to get home from work.

Looking out the window, Matthew said, "But they're not rushing, They're barely even moving!"

This is my favourite piece. He is literally taking what his father's said by the exact words. Funny beings, these kids The way they see things, respond and understand are completely different, not to mention humorous.

Reading Body language

As a saying goes, 'A picture says a thousand words'. Same goes to body language. A person's body language or reaction to a particular situation reads a lot into what he is thinking. I am not an expert in reading behind people's body languages, but have learnt a trick or two into this analysing this behaviour. Not really a master yet, but is apt enough to find out if a person is lying or not.

Here are some of the common body language signals that can be observed in a daily basis:-

Arm crossing : Have you ever noticed a person you are talking to is crossing his arm as he was listening to you? If yes, most likely is that he is not agreeable to what you are saying, and by arm crossing his hand subconsciously, he is referring to just that. Arm crossing is human's nature of being defensive and not agreeable.

Hand to face touching : Ever touched your face unknowingly when telling a lie? This is because hand to face touching relate to negative emotions and most people tend to touch any part of their face when telling a lie. So, next time you want to abandon the truth and twist facts, do not touch your face. Or the person might just detect the lie.

Head tilt : If you notice a person tilting his head, it usually means he is not interested in the topic. Just change the subject to his favour to get his attention.

Picking imaginary dust : Noticed the person picking or rubbing off dust or speck from his shirt? It usually means that he is in disapproval of what is being said. Again, just change the subject.

The Collar Pull : A gesture that shows the person is silently angry, upset or being deceitful that it caused a tingling sensation in the neck which gives the person the urge to pull the collar away from the neck.

Pain in the neck : Tells us that a person is in tension and frustration. He will tend to rub his neck to satisfy the tingling sensation when someone gets to his nerve.

Slow hand rubbing : Usually reflects the gesture of greediness or excitement. Slow hand rubbing is used when the person expects to personally receive benefits or make money.

This is just a very brief guide in reading body languages. Have to admit, that I still have difficulty in detecting those gestures. Though the interpretations may be true most of the time, we cannot be fully sure of the readings. What if a person really notices a speck on his shirt and picks it up? The reading will be way off then.

Health myths

Have you ever been told by your elders not to do certain things or actions due to superstitious reasons or undesirable health consequences. Being not so conservative, I try not to dwell too much into these old wives's tales, preferring to get the health opinions or advice from experts instead. However, I came across an article mentioning that there are a certain extent of truth in these myths. Thought it would be useful to share them in this post.

Myth: Cracking knuckles leads to arthritis.

My elders hadn't exactly told me that cracking knuckles will lead to arthritis. I admit that I have this bad habit of cracking my knuckles every now and then, just to loosen up my stiff bones. The sharp sound is actually the bursting of the air bubbles when the finger bones are stretched apart.

To my surprise, the article said that those who frequented to crack their bones are more likely to have swollen hands and reduced hand strength. Thus, in the long run, may result in arthritis slowly creeping in. Thoroughly convinced, I made a vow never to crack my knuckles, no matter how much I crave to crack them.

Myth: Drinking milk causes phlegm

For this myth, my mum has wisely passed it to me herself. Never give the kids milk when they are down with cold. This is because dairy products can thicken the phlegm. Phlegm is the thick sticky mucus that drips down the back of the throat when a cold hits us.

Drinking milk during colds will make the phlegm thicker and more irritating to the throat than it would normally be. So, mum is right about the myth of this one.

Myth: Sweat your fever out

When my hubby is down with fever, he usually wraps himself under a thick blanket and locks himself up in the room. Though I never attempt to do this and have always wondered why he does, the reason became clear. Apparently, keeping a fever-stricken body warm will kill the virus faster.

How? Well, many bacteria and viruses die at high than normal body temperatures. And if we are to increase the body heat enough to the extent of sweating, we will be killing these viruses faster. However, do not over sweat yourself, or effects such as fits or brain damage may occur.

Myth: Starve a fever, feed a cold

Actually, I do not really understand this statement. It says that we if are to deprive ourselves from food during fever, the energy that is used from digesting food will be used to fight off the viruses instead. So, eat less during fever (as if we have the appetite to gorge ourselves with food when ill-stricken).

On the contrary, try to eat more during colds, cause colds last longer than fever. And eating more will give the body extra fuel to aid the natural immune system in fighting off the viruses. But my point is, what if we are struck with both colds and fever at the same time? What are supposed to do? Eat or starve?

Well, experts say that the best thing is to eat in moderation when we are down with both, in order to maintain strength. Starvation or overeating are strongly discouraged and not recommended at all.

Dan Brown Books

Deception Point, written by Dan Brown. Another favourite author of mine. His other amazing books include Da Vinci Code (which is his first book that I read), Angels and Demons (this one is one in a million read) and Digital Fortress (another good book, but just a level down from the other three).

If anyone is new to his books, I would recommend them to start reading the DaVinci Code. That book is magnificently excellent, full of religious controversy with thought provoking beliefs.

Back to the author, Dan Brown is an American author, born in June 1964. Little wonder how effortlessly he had written his books, considering his vast interests and knowledge in cryptography, keys, and codes. His books are always full of these complicated, impossible to break codes and ancient languages. Anybody interested in his profile and bio, can go to this Official Website of him.

Let's talk about Da Vinci Code first. This book of him is pure genius. I do not know how much time and effort he put into research in completing this book. But everything he depicted is true and real, or I thought they do . The churches, symbols, languages, directions, location, etc are so realistic, and for a moment there, I thought the myth was true. The plots are both fascinating and exceedingly clever.

Angels and Demons... This book is awesome with a capital 'A'. Truly the work of an ingenious story teller. Gripping, taut, engaging, not to mention extremely gross. The murders are too gruesome to be true. Man, I cannot even imagine the crime scene. The way Dan cleverly plotted each death in relation to the elements of fire, earth , water and wind is indescribable. Needless to say, the book is explosive from the start to the finish. It is one of the best books I have ever read.

Digital Fortress, a book about personal freedom and national security. It opens our mind that we are not having the privacy that we thought we had in the cyber world. As our emails and smses are being monitored, the line between defending and controlling us is a thin one. In a plot of murder, infernos, and explosions, Brown's skill at hinting and concealing the twist will rivet cyber-minded readers.

Deception point, is the last book that I read. This book, not surprising at all, is fast-paced, full of twists and turns that will grip you from the first page thereon. An excellent piece of work, that is enjoyable, entertaining and humorous, with a bit of romance thrown in. Another read of him which is impossible to stop reading. Includes a well balanced theme of military strategies and gadgetry and scientific knowledge and details.

I could go on and on, ranting about each of his books. But it seemed that the post is becoming a bit too lengthy. Will definitely provide a more microscopic plot synopsis into his every books in the coming posts. But for now, for the closing line, 'Please read Dan Brown's books, you will not live to regret it'.

Simple Fried Bee Hoon

Before I start on giving the recipe, will like to declare that I am not a great cook. Not proud to say that, am only good at cooking daily dishes for the family, as well as during festivities like New Year or the occassional open house. But to cook for a large number of people? Simply not the area for me, seriously not competent enough yet. In addtion, my motto towards food is : 'Eat to Live, Not, Live To Eat'.

Disclaimer done, I would like to share this recipe that I found on Zu's kitchen with all of you. Though I have my own fried bee hoon recipe, thought I might try other people flavours. So, here it is, take note and try if you like.

Ingredients

1 packet bee hoon (400gm), soaked till soft
13 clove garlic
3 shallots
200gm prawns, de-shelled and deviened
100gm french beans, sliced thinly
cabbage/mustard green/bean sprouts
1 carrot, julienned
1 tbsp light soya sauce
salt & pepper
2-3 tbsp oil
100-200ml water

Method

1. Season prawns with sugar and put aside

2. Blend garlic and shallots into paste

3. Heat oil in wok and once it is hot, pour the garlic/shallot paste

4. Add a bit of salt and stir fry till fragrant

5. Once fragrant, add prawns and cook till they turned pink

6. Push prawns aside and add carrots, french beans and vegetables

7. Add about 100ml of water and mix them well

8. Add few dashes of pepper and stir well

9. Drain bee hoon and put them into the wok

10.Stir gently as you don't want to break the noodles, add soya sauce and a bit more water if the noodles are too dry

11.Add salt to taste and continue stirring till all the items are well incorporated and the noodles are cooked

12.Serve hot with omelette strips and pickled green chilli

Ghost Whisperer

Ghost Whisperer is one of my favourite TV shows currently. Just like Supernatural and Prison Break, I always make time to watch it whenever it is aired. However, Ghost Whisperer stars a very elegant and charming lady. It is played by Jennifer Love Hewitt, as the character of Melinda Gordon. How on earth did she move from the big Hollywood movies to the small screen TV, wonders me. But have certainly enjoyed her new TV debut.

Now, to the TV series itself. Ghost Whisperer stands out alone in its originality, though Supernatural also dwells in the realm of the other world. The difference is that the latter often deals with the demons and devils from the Dark Side, while Ghost Whisperer communicate with dead spirits, be it good or bad. Seriously, I really do not want to compare between the two of them cause I love both of the series.

Basically, the story depicts of a young woman who has this ability to see and communicate with the spirits of the dead. She had inherited this trait from her mum, who is on the other hand is in denial of this gift. But Melinda grasps this ability with open hands and use them to help mankind, or literally 'spirit kind'. Recent my, married to a dashing firefighter, Jim (played by David
Conrad), they live in a small town, where Melinda opened a decent antique shop.

Each episode of Ghost Whisperer is different, but the same storyline always follow. The story will start by a ghost or two seeking Melinda's help when they realised Melinda is able to communicate with them. Making them complete their unfinished business and able to cross over 'The Light' are what Melinda intended to do. She accepted their cry for help and proceeded with the investigations to locate the spirits's loved ones.

But her quest are not without risks or dangers. More often than not, her deed in helping these spirits have placed her very self in danger. Jim is constantly worried about her safety, but is understanding and fully supportive of her, nonetheless.

She met her nemesis by the name of Romano, a dark spirit who wears a black hat all the time. His mission, on the contrary, is to make the spirits earthbound and tempt them to join the Dark Side. Melinda had a very trying time dealing with him, convincing the spirits that no good will come in joining Romano. Though some were coaxed into finally crossing over to the light, a few defied and stayed on earth.

In her attempt to help these earth bound souls, Melinda's approach to the families and friends are often met with criticisms, skepticism and denial from them. Confusions and misunderstanding often arise from these meetings and Melinda finds it an uphill task to convince them of the spirit's message. Only after the spirit's personal details are revealed do they realised the truth.

Each episode always end up with emotional, sweet but sad parting when the spirit is finally able to find peace and crosses to the other side. It is momments like these that drive Melinda to continue her quest in helping these poor souls.

How to edit your own writing?

OK, first of all, I would like to say that I am not an accomplished writer. Just an amateurish one, trying to write a decent piece of work every time.

However, in every piece, we must not just rush into it without reading it over again and doing some corrections. In this post, I would like to share some of my ideas that I have in editing any piece of writing, no matter how simple.

First of all, after a draft is written, put it away for several hours or days. Then, come back to it with fresh eyes and ideas and do the editing. Cause if we are to read the draft right after it is done, chances are the errors are often unnoticed. So, try revising your own drafts at a later time.

That is what I usually do, write a post, wait for another hour, come back, do some editing and publish it.

Next, when the work is in front, try to put yourself in the position of the first-time reader. How would the person react to the letter or post? Ask yourself these questions...

What kind of material or content are you writing? The structure and layout of the writing should supply the information immediately, and not beat around the bush and bore the readers. Do adjustments where necessary.

What is the purpose and message of the writing? To give information, narration of a story, reports of an incident? If the writing is about report or news, what exactly is it reporting on?

If it is about information, it should be clearly and crisply defined.

Check the layout. Like the headings, the sub headings, the paragraphings etc. Consider improvements such as numbering the various sections.

Check the structure. Like the ordering of the points in a section, and the ordering of the sections in the document. The running order must be logical and methodical.

Check the contents. Check the accuracy of your writing, like numbers, figures, amounts, etc.

Check the tone of the writing. Is it courteous and polite and not incurring the wrath of the readers? Be friendly and approachable.

Check the style. It is pitched at a level suitable for the readers? Do not be over technical or over simplified.

Next, look at the wording. Is the spelling consistent? Is the grammar correct? Are the words varied and precise enough? Repetitions is strongly discouraged. Check the adjectives, adverbs, nouns and verbs.

Check the sentences for length and complexity. Break long sentences into smaller and understandable ones. Also, check the paragraphs.

Shorten long paragraphs to enable better reading and make sure that one paragraph do not contain more than one idea.

Check that the ideas flow smoothly from sentence to sentence and paragraph to paragraph. Make sure that the text are tight and concise, and once again, no repetition of a word.

Finally, ask yourself this question? Have you done everything that you want to communicate effectively and efficiently? If no, than put in more work. If yes, congratulate yourself and publish your work.

John Grisham is one of my favourites authors of all time. I have been reading all his 20 books. Only the last two 'The Appeal' and 'The Associate' are on my 'not read' list. John Grisham is such a phenomenal and gifted writer. His books are gripping, thrilling and mind-blowing.

Most of time, I will have to say up late at night trying to finish off his book. Simply amazing!There are no words to describe his talent in spinning such good and entertaining novels.

-A Time to Kill - written in 1989, and made into a movie in 1996. Starring Matthew McConaughey, Sandra Bullock and Morgan Freeman. Story about a young lawyer who defends a black man accused of murdering two men who raped his 10-year-old daughter, sparking a rebirth of the KKK.

The Firm - written in 1191, made into a movie in 1993. Starring Tom Cruise. Story of a young lawyer who joins a prestigous law firm only to discover that it has a sinister dark side.

The Pelican Brief - written in 1992, made into movie in 1993. Starring Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington. Story of a law student who uncovers a conspiracy, putting herself and others in danger.

Playing for Pizza - written in 2007. Not made into movie. Story about an itinerant American football player are rejected in avery National Football League Club and continues his career playing for the Parma Panthers, in Parma, Italy.

John Grisham's only non-fiction work:

The Innocent Man - written in 2006. Not made into movie. Story of former minor league baseball aspirant Ronald 'Ron' Keith Williamson of Ada, Pontotoc County, Oklahoma.

He was raised in the strict Pentecostal household of his parents, Roy Williamson and Juanita (Caldwell) Williamson, along with his sisters, Annette (Williamson) Hudson, now from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Renée (Williamson) Simmons, now from Allen, Texas.

The book depicted Ron's life in an up and down roller coaster.

These are the great pieces of work from a great author. Really recommend anyone to read his collection. Simply awesome!

Fully utilising every space in homes

Have you ever looked around in your house and noticed that there are places that you can fill up to make the room more decorative and practical?

Some of empty spaces that you can have fun with are the ceilings, upper walls, the space above furniture, the underside of tables and chairs, the upper areas of cupboards and cabinets, behind doors and also look for the space between two tall furnitures. You can maximise these spaces to fully utilise the extra space.

And here are some of the tips you can use to maximise storage space in each of your rooms :

In the kitchen:

Store dinnerware and cutlery near the dishwasher so that it can be emptied quickly and easily.

Keep placemats flat and out of the way by hanging them on a clipboard hung from a hook inside a cabinet or pantry door.

Free up counter space by putting your microwave on a shelf above the counter.

To make the most of available space when storing tapered glassware, position every other glass upside down.

To economize on drawer space, arrange wooden spoons and other utensils bouquet-style in a handsome pitcher or canister.

If you lack drawer space for kitchen linens and towels, store them in baskets on the counter.

If you don't have cabinet space for your pots and pans, put a small wooden ladder -- painted to match your kitchen -- in a corner and place the pots and pans on the steps.

In the bathroom;

Hang a wicker basket on the bathroom wall for storing towels, tissues, soap, bath toys, and other incidentals.

Make your shower rod do double duty. Attach extra hooks to hold a back brush and a net bag for bath toys and washcloths.

Erect shelves in the space beside the vanity, behind the door, or over the toilet. Such shelves offer convenient storage without intruding on floor space.

Consider installing over-the-door towel racks, or place hooks on the inside of the bathroom door for towels and bathrobes.

In the bedroom:

Add more storage space in your bedroom by building a headboard storage unit. You can place books, lamps, or a radio on top of the unit and store extra linens and blankets on the inside.

Use flat roll-out bins for under-the-bed storage. They can hold bed linens, sewing supplies, and infrequently used items.

For a double-duty ottoman, build a plywood box with a hinged cover. Paint the outside, or cover it with fabric. Add a thick cushion for comfortable sitting, and store your magazines in style.

However, please remember. In the challenge of pursuing more storage space, careful thought must be given that the spaces used do not cause obstructions, inconveniences or safety problems to other members of the family. Use the space only if it is practical, and not just for the sake of using it.

Why is taking supplements so important? Especially if we are not eating a balanced diet. I would be a hypocrite to say that I have a balanced diet every single day.

Dental check up for kids

Having a very good dental hygiene and good oral health habits is very important for small children to ensure that they have strong, lasting teeth to carry them through to their old age. Some parents have even adopted proper dental care begins before a baby's first tooth appears.

Likewise, I always make sure my kids developed and maintained good dental hygiene. The rule I enforce, is to brush their teeth at least twice a day. Sometimes, even thrice if I noticed they have not been brushing well.

So, why is good brushing habits and dental visits so important at an early age? It is recommended by the Health Promotion Board that kids should be introduced to the dentist when he is only year old. Make him understand why these visits are so important and familiarise him with a dental clinic.

Not to worry, cause many dentists have made their clinics children's friendly, equipped with cartoon posters, colorful atmosphere, kiddy ambiance, attractive toys, etc. The visit the the family dental will be a pleasant experience for your little ones. Help them to become accustomed to visiting the dentist so they'll have less fear about going as they grow older.

The dentist, himself will be friendly and animated, and often uses a show-and-tell approach to explain to the child what they are doing. Over time, the kids will have no fear of the dentist and may even look forward to every visit.

Visiting a dentist earlier will allow the dentist to treat and diagnose problems such as cavities, a bad bite or crooked teeth. Diagnosing these problems at an early stage is vital in order to avoid further complications later.

Through all these routine check ups and constant reminders of proper daily care, it is ensured that your little ones' gums and teeth will stay healthy.

Dandruff - How to deal with it

Do any of your family member have dandruff? My family do not have dandruff as I make the effort to check that the kids often wash their hair regularly. And I make sure that the shampoo bottle in the bathroom is always full and ready for use.

However, once upon a time, in my life, years back when I was a teenager, I used to have a mild of dandruff. It is itchy, and at times I find it intolerable. Even after washing, the problem woould not go away. Unbearable, my mother took me to the doc. After applying the solution or medical shampoo or whatever that is, my dandruff problem was controlled.

So, what is dandruff actually?

Dandruff is an itchy skin disorder of the scalp that develops during the normal growing process of the scalp's skin cells. In a normal scalp, old cells die and are sloughed off approximately every month, and replacement cells are manufactured quickly. In a dandruff scalp, the departing cells are sloughed off before they are dead.

According to an article, there are two types of dandruff.

Internal dandruff can be caused by hormonal imbalance, poor health, poor hygiene, allergy to dairy, chocolate, nuts or shellfish, lack of rest, emotional stress, excessive consumption of sugar, fat and starch and hereditary predisposition.

External dandruff is caused by excessive use of hair sprays and gels, improper use of hair-coloring products, excessive use of hair curlers or curling irons, cold weather, dry indoor heating, stress, infrequent shampooing of the hair or inadequate rinsing of the scalp.

Unfortunately, there is no known way to prevent dandruff before it occurs.

Since dandruff is a natural process, it cannot be eliminated. It can only be managed and controlled. One of the most common treatments for dandruff is dandruff shampoo. Once dandruff shampoos or products are discontinued, the dandruff will return in about three days.

When choosing a dandruff shampoo it is best to select the mildest option possible. The Incredible Hulk 2008

This version of Incredible Hulk is a bit better than the 2003 version as it is quite near to the comics and cartoon version. At the beginning, the kids complained on having to watch The Incredible Hulk because they prefered to watch kung Fu Panda instead. After some coaxing and promises they finally relented. As the plot unveiled itself and the Hulk revealing himself, the kids got excited and were glued to the TV then on.

The Incredible Hulk is a 2008 superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character the Hulk released on June 13, 2008. In this movie, the plot continues from where it left off when Bruce Banner flees to evade the pursuit of General Ross while attempting to find a cure to rid himself from Hulk.

The story starts when Banner left a trail in a bottle factory he worked for in Brazil. This trail prompted Ross to send a team, led by the Russian-born British special operations expert Emil Blonsky (Tim Roth), to capture him. Banner escapes by becoming Hulk and Blonksy persuaded Ross to inject him with the Vita-ray serum, to make him as powerful as Hulk and seek revenge.

Banner returns to Culver University in the United States and was reunited with Betty, his girlfriend. There, he was attacked again with Ross' army, Banner had to be Hulk again and a battle ensued. Blonsky was injured terribly when Hulk threw him over a long distance. In the midst, when Betty was about to be hit by an exploding helicopter, the Hulk sheilded her and took the unconscious Betty away.

The next day, they went to see a long correspondent of Banner, a Doctor Samuel Sterns, who claimed to have the cure. After the procedure, they were quite sure that Banner was cured. As Banner was protesting about the large stocks of Banner's blood the Doc was keeping, they were
attacked by Ross' forces and Banner was taken into custody.

Blonsky then forces Stern to inject him with Hulk's blood. Despite warnings that he might turn into a monster, Blonksky still insisted. Thus, he mutated into a viscious monster. Banner, realizing that he was the only one who can stop the monster, convinced General Ross to release him.

He falls from Ross' helicopter as it hovers over the city, hoping the fall will trigger a transformation. Banner's plan succeeded. After a brutal battle, the Hulk defeated Blonsky by nearly strangling him to death with a huge chain, relenting his grip only after Betty's plea. The Hulk then flees the scene with the army in pursuit.

Very typical Hulk ending, where he flees to nowhere in hiding, leaving behind his beloved Betty.

As I have said, this movie, in terms of plot and graphic is a bit better than the last. I like the part when Hulk smashed the road and the cement cracked violently all the way to the monster. Another part is when he used his powerful hands to clap, releasing a powerful gush of wind. But the best part, is when he jumped from buildings to buildings swiftly in a breath taking ending scene.

However, in terms of cast, I think Eric Bana carried the character Hulk better than Edward Norton. He is tall, strong and has the aura of a brilliant scientist, a fugitive and the Hulk. Edward Norton comes as a bit subdued for me. Liv Tyler, who played Betty is exceptional, but there is no chemistry between her and Edward. Well, it is just my opinion anyway. But overall, the movie is very entertaining and is worth watching.
