On Septemeber 25 Ataxia had their awareness day which they combined with the launch on the following video, to attract visitors online to their web site.  See the video below that was made by the Media Trust for Ataxia UK . It was posted on a network of sites to generate a good viral marketing buzz.  The combination of this viral video with Google and Facebook advertising, drove significant traffic to the charity’s website.

After visiting the web site, as well as raising awareness, another objectives was to attract them to the donations page.  If they make a donation they see video examples of the great work they do as a charity.  The power of video again.

The success of this campaign was the emotion of the story allowing us to connect with another human and share their challenges along the journey of  life.

E-learning can be packaged as part of a blended learning solution, using a combination of delivery modalities.  These can include interactive methods, face to face communication, learning paths embedded with games, colorful graphics and listening exercises to name a few.  The concept of blended learning has aided e-learning growth.  The growth of revenue from e-learning is projected to continue at the current rate of 10% or higher each year.

E-learning solutions vary greatly depending on their objectives and content.  As internet speeds increase then the power of learning collaborative and sharing online can explode.  E-learning delivery and tracking is most commonly managed using software known as a Learning Management System or LMS.   When combined with the wide variety of tools that can be used for the design of the e-learning content, this combination can create powerful learning results.  Most modern e-learning methods are very interactive to captive the learner as part of their growth.

So it is with excitement I discoverd some awesome open source e-learning authoring software options from Craig Weiss in his e-learning 24/7 blog. Read the options and be prepared to fall in love with some new software that can create some special new content.

I do not think so as it does no have the right feel.  It is not exciting and going to draw attention the same as the name Viral Marketing does!

In an interesting blog post by Iain in his EngageSciences blog on Speeadable Media vs Viral Marketing he has a great explanation of the evolution of Viral Marketing.  He defines how over the last couple of years MIT Convergence Culture Consortium have recommended replacing the use of the term Viral Marketing with the name Spreadable Media.

He also has a great explanation of how Viral Marketing came to prominence with the launch of Hotmail. Hotmail spread the word by adding a link at the bottom of all their emails so that others could sign-up easily, without running expensive advertising campaigns.  Read his full post including an impressive infographic at EngageSciences.com
