I love creating music podcasts. Funny how you start down one road and you think you have a "finished" project, take a walk or car ride, the creative juices start flowing and before you know, you're scrapping the entire project and you travel down another and it comes out different and better.

What started off as spotlight on Danny Wilson ends up showcasing another set of musicians that I loved over the years...Special EFX. I discovered this duo when working as a stocker at Ann Taylor (if you feel you've heard about Ann Taylor and music, it was the same place I discovered how awesome Danny Wilson's album "Meet Danny" was back in the day.)

To be honest I kinda ran into a roadblock in regards to the direction I wanted to continue MLFM. Every time I think I have come to the end of this podcast the Holy Spirit opens up a door in regards to refresh my music podcasts. I guess when you have a love and passion to share great music and leave yourself open for change, a new way comes along to hit the "refresh button".

My Thoughts on "Meet Danny Wilson"

I'm glad I grew up in a time of vinyl, cassettes, 8-track cartridges. This made me admire the album covers, reading of the liner notes. I learned about musicians, producers, engineers, the people who mastered the recording. It forced you to listen to the entire recording.

Back in the 80s (oh my God I sound old) a lot of musical groups from the UK and abroad were known as "One Hit Wonders"...that was not the case for me. Groups like Prefab Sprout, Go West, Level 42 and this trip, Danny Wilson was one of my favorite.

"Meet Danny Wilson" was an album I played over and over. I was first introduced to them by a young lady when I worked at Ann Taylor as a stocker. What stuck out to me was she said, "...They have that Steely Dan feel to them." She brought the cassette for me to borrow and when I heard the track "Davy" I was hooked. I brought the cassette back, made a trip to Camelot Music and bought the album and my journey began with these gentlemen.

Gary Clark (lead vocalist), Kit Clark (guitarist), Ged Grimes (bassist) were the primary musicians and that's an understatement. They all played multiple instruments and on "Meet Danny Wilson" album is a burst of arrangements that made me pay attention to each track. For me any group that can have a tuba within one of their tracks is okay with me.

I wish I could say certain tracks stand out to me on this album but I can't. That's because I love them all and I mean that with all my heart.

From the harmonica peppered within "Davy", the trumpet on the "Aberdeen" track, the tuba on "Ruby's Golden Wedding", I couldn't get enough of this album when I first bought in the late 80s and I can't get enough of the album 2021.

"Mary's Prayer" is the track that put the lads from Dundee, Scotland on the map here in the states. Gary Clark said it took him about a year to write this tune due to the arrangement wasn't falling into place. Please watch the interview (link is below) in regards to the making of this beautiful composition. For me the bassline laid down by Ged Grimes and the piano work by Gary Clark stands out to me. Finding out the meaning of the tunes hits home and I can relate.

This is a story about not being mature for a relationship with the "girl of your dreams", having a low self-esteem and smothering the person due to your insecurities causing the breakup, relaxing your screwups and wishing her the best with her life is all to familiar with us all one time or another in our lives.

I have spoken of Paddy McAloon (Prefab Sprout) as a great songwriter...I rank Gary Clark in that group. "Broken China", "Nothing Ever Goes To Plan"(with that Bossa Nova vibe to it with a sweet tad of rhythm guitar and sax solo is so cool), "Steamtrains To the Milky Way" are smart, slick lyrics where I have it on repeat.

"Spencer-Tracy" is an instrumental track close to a minute and half with a strong and electric and acoustic guitar blaring only to soften and bleed into "You Remain An Angel". I love this track, it has a little hint of Burt Bacharach. The brass section and an accordion arrangement...who does that? (except acoustic guitarist Peter White).

"Ruby's Golden Wedding" is a track build mainly on the brass section[Lester Bowie's Brass Fantasy, the Timpani and the accordion...yep, that instrument again.]

"Five Friendly Aliens" has that Steely Dan feel. The vocal arrangement stands out to me. It's raw, the saxophone is nicely placed and the hint of vibes being played makes this track pop. I believe it would bring a smile to Donald Fagen and the late Walter Becker face.

"I Won't Be Here When You Get Home" for me is an old man spreading wisdom to others and in the midst of doing this he realizes he needs to seek his own happiness. This composition is also driven heavy by the horn section.

For me every track holds it's own. Here it is 2021 and I have had this album on repeat. I can say I was a blessed man to grow up in this music era. As I write my thoughts about this trio I can say this is in my top 10 of albums where I can listen to from beginning to end. Great arrangements, intelligent lyrics, "Meet Danny Wilson" is an album I'm glad I wasn't "asleep at wheel" when it was released.

What's going on Good People, 😀

New music podcasts from your favorite Southern Midwest Geek. This lineup falls more on the traditional jazz flow. I haven't created a playlist like this in a while and I have to admit it is soothing.

I have three vocal tracks in the line up...a classic/remake by Incognito, the late Al Jarreau and a track from the "Two Against Nature" album from Steely Dan (you are missed Mr. (Walter) Becker.

It's been a close to a year since I dropped a MLFM music podcast and to be honest I haven't been feeling it. So much going on in my life (one day I may share) and it's funny now "podcasting" is the "In Thang"...yep, I said "Thang". Many of us have been in this game for over a decade and you would think this platform was just starting. I get upset (I can't front) how if you're a celebrity you're notice and us "blue collar" podcasters have been looked over.

I've noticed so called "chillcast" mixes and podcasts and I know some of my Brothers and Sisters in the Podcasting community have always produced great chillcast Podcast/playlist.

New Outlook On Social Media/Social Networking

Great article found and shared by Twitter friend/Brother in Podcasting/Musician Doug via @MrFresh "Breaking Up With Social Media". I’m read this and it has given me a boost in regards rethinking how to use social media that will work best for me. 🤔😊

Here's what has hit me.

Seek out people in a circle that will help my agenda. These platforms are no longer for socializing, it's about, "what can you do for me lately"...that's it. It's about hashtags and followers and algorithms. I've known this but it really hit me when I found out a Twitter friend hasn't seen my MLFM podcast links for years. It didn't surprise me but at the same it's kinda fucked up.

Now I know it's time to reach out to people who truly enjoy Jazz(Traditional and Contemporary)/Downtempo/Instrumental music. If it means creating a newsletter so be it. Actually, I'm looking forward to "starting from scratch". #NewBeginnings Going forward I will no longer communicate on this platform. I will post my podcasts links shows (which will be in my profile). If you wish to correspond it will be through email or text(via Google Voice and other texting platform) DM or other texting platforms. After hearing from a friend on Twitter of 9 years and hearing from a friend via FB advised if I didn't tag her she wouldn't have seen my MLFM podcast link is the last "nail in the coffin" for me. If you wish to stay in contact, KEWL. If not that cool too. I was at a point to stop producing music podcasts but after seeing a voice by @garyvee I've received a new burst of energy to keep going. You win Mark Zuckerberg, you win Facebook/Instagram/Twitter...your house/your rules.

MLFM October 2019 Edition - Breaking the FOMO Addition

You're wondering why I'm speaking on this subject in regards to my music podcast? Because I have allowed this to take over me for the longest. It's not Twitter fault, nor Facebook, no Instagram...this is all on me.

I have allowed myself to stop creating music podcast due to checking my phone every minute. Instead of using these network platforms to promote me I've allowed myself to become the product...the "tool". Again, I blame no one but myself. I've come to realize that social media is not for "socializing"; it has morphed into a status/"heart me"/Like me platform. I have known for a while that the social platforms are no longer for interaction in the way I was once knew them.

With that said I am now going to focus on my goals when it comes music podcasts, photography, blogging and with further ado, the latest of MyLoveForMusic podcast.

Give It a Rest, Facebook/Instagram Are for Influences, Not for Users

Vero came on the scene in 2015 but I didn't begin using the app until 2018. At first I was a heavy user then I slacked off falling back into using Instagram and Facebook. I complain about the two platforms and yet I fall back into the same ol' habit.

Why use a platform that doesn't really care about it's users. Mark Zuckerburg has shown time and time again of their carelessness. So many articles and reports and yet I find myself back using these two. It's toxic to be like this to be honest. It's like being involved with a person that you know in the end will bring you grief but you keep going back to them because one: you don't want to take the time and start over again and two: you don't want to commit because what if it doesn't work out and you feel you're worst off than before.

No one has placed a gun to my head to stay with IG and FB. I have written the downside of Facebook being a "walled garden/community", I've expressed myself on how these two haven't evolved with some simple changes like for IG being able to separate paragraphs or constantly having to crop photos and my biggest gripe, not having dark mode/night theme. Twitter has this feature and Vero's design doesn't need it because how beautiful and well design the app is and yet I keep going back to these two and I was about to say the heck with it until having an interaction with one of my Geek Sisters and it hit me like ton of bricks...change won't happen because the users are not important, only celebrities and "influences" are heard.

Let's be real, this is what brings in the money to Facebook and Instagram. News organizations (who once poo-poo'd these platforms), celebrities, entertainers, influences...they are catered to hand and foot but the users don't matter. It's like how the 1% run our economy. We "ordinary" folks can complain and whine but in the end it doesn't matter because we are consumers and not heavy hitter content creators. The improvements can be made but unless there's a mad exodus from IG or FB (which will never happen) or if a handful of "Influences" begin to complain then the changes will not come.

So, what is the Southern Midwest Geek to do? Simple, kick myself in high gear and begin focusing on becoming a stronger content creator and use platforms that scratches my itch and be a man not use IG and FB as much.

One time I took a month away from those two social sites and to be honest it was a great feeling and to be honest I wasn't missed. No one noticed so I need to walk that road and not look back. I need to stop talking and doing. Use them when needed.

In the end I need to realize FB and IG is no longer for interaction and more of branding your product. I'm living in the past and it's time for me to accept this and move on from this way of thinking. Use the tools that bring you joy and happiness when it comes to sharing your thoughts and I choose my blogs, Twitter and Vero.

I choose these two because of the settings, no cropping your images, the beauty of their apps, the flexibility, they're powerful and for some reason they feel welcoming. I know people have issues with Twitter and Vero but for me I enjoy them. I may have to face one day that Vero may get pushed out of the way but for now I am getting back to a site that has great design and it has a feeling I haven't felt in a long time...fun to use.

Now to put it into actions and just mere words.

Usually it takes me a month or longer to come up with a playlist and make sure the playlist flows from one tune to another (believe it or not that takes time otherwise the flow will sound "choppy". Other podcasters know what I mean). But this was different for me.

I knew the artist I was going base this selection around and I knew the other artists I wanted to showcase but I didn't which compositions I wanted until I sat behind the microphone and I have to say the selection came out darn good.

I have three tracks from Kaysha from his "Forever Young" and "African Prince" albums and from there I created the playlist around this Brother. 🙂

"The Sweetest Thing" has been one of my favorite songs by Kaysha but I knew his music library was deep and after all these years I took the plunge and his music catalog is a treasure chest of great tunes where it's going to take me years to soak in but it's all good.

You know most times it's older tracks in my playlist but I stumbled across a new tune from an artist I followed back in the 80s, Bruce Hornsby. From his new album, "Absolute Zero", track of the same name. I have music from Steely Dan, Ramsey Lewis, Peter White, Paul Taylor and others to make this music playlist a delight to have take time for yourself for the next 90 minutes.

Here it is April 2019 and this was recorded February this year. So many things came up in regards to stopping me from bringing this to my Mixcloud feed. Laziness, work, travel, hospitalized. But I'm doing the thang so let's move forward.

I'm not going to go into a spill about my love for Windam Hill music because I have shared my thoughts on this many times. This I will say, I thank William Ackerman and his crew and musicians that brought this wonderful music to the world from 1976 to 1996. Mr. Ackerman has moved on to other ventures ( his exclusive recording studio Imaginary Roads in Vermont). He tours from time to time with various artists in California other parts of the U.S.

I'm blessed to have stumbled across his music in the late 90s when I was a night janitor at a Target department when I was living in Missouri. Big shout out to my Windham Brother from another Mother John Dark for creating the Facebook Page "Windham Hill Lovers" [ http://bit.ly/2TWgjha ]years ago. Many fans of this music and some of the former WH musicians converse and share some of their favorites albums on this page.

Enjoy the music, research the musicians and drop them a line or two to let them know how you enjoy their music and where you heard the tracks.

This Playlist is a return of the old...what I mean by that is a nice, smooth, relaxing vibe from when I first began the music podcast back in 2008. It still blows my mind I began this 10 years ago. Every time when I feel I've reached a plateau when it comes to creating music playlist I view a photograph or while out walking an idea hits me and before I know it I'm searching through my music library to gather compositions and I'm sharing it with you.

Music pumps through my veins my prayer is that music puts you in a place of peace, joy, and tranquility.

Kicking off the set is a tune from MJ. For me to this day "Off the Wall" is his best album in my opinion. From his vocals to some of the best session musicians in the world to the vocal arrangements are beyond reproach.

I'm also sharing a double dose of tunes from Shadowfax, Peter White, and Chicago native Fred Simon. Their music continue to capture my soul when it comes to slowing down and enjoying life.

My Brother in Podcaster Mr. Fresh is also a gifted musician. From his Halcyon Sky album, this downtempo composition (with the help of Todd Kelley and Trel Robinson) is a chillaxing tune to enjoy these cool, brisk evenings in the Southeast this time of year.

Other tunes I have in the lineup are from Jeff Lorber, Steely Dan, Donald Fagen, Steve Cole, Michael Deep, Will Ackerman, and Brian Culbertson.

What's going on Good People. :-) The cool thing about being exposed to different genres of music for me is that I pay more attention the arrangement, the musicians. Vocals catch my ear from time to time but I love discovering how instruments are used and instruments I've never known. This is not my regular type of music but I love it.

This playlist is classic rock and a couple of tracks from 2010. From Boston to Fleetwood Mac, this array of music is best to listen to this with headphones or noise reduction or noise canceling earbuds. The richness of the instruments and arrangements are amazing.
I have three tracks from rock tunes from the 2010 soundtrack “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World”. I have to get this soundtrack, the blu-ray movie, the Funko Pop figures. I love this movie for many reasons but of course what sticks out to me is the music. Two tracks from Sex Bob-Omb and the electronic tune from Brian LeBarton.

Toto, "Georgy Porgy" is a favorite of mine. You have some of Best of the BEST session musician on the planet. (You are missed Jeff Porcaro). The icing on the cake was the beautiful vocals of Cheryl Lynn. "Africa" is a tune where again the vocals (getting help from Eagles bassist and vocalist Timothy B. Schmidt) and the arrangement sticks out to me. David Paich and Bobby Kimbell has that perfect blend of subtle and directness and the bassline work by David Hungate.

Foreigner's "Cold As Ice" I remember watching this music video on SNL in the 70s . The vocal harmony is too cool. The tune "Urgent" was one of the 80s tune where it still kept that ol Foreigner spark from their earlier work. The saxophone work by the late Junior Walker kicked it into overdrive.

Another group that blew my mind growing up in the 70s was ELO. A group that combined rock and strings was so awesome. Jeff Lynn to me was a genius and playing this 45 on the stereo over and over drove my mother crazy.

Areosmith's "Rocks" to me is the best album they ever recorded. This album introduced me to the six-string bass and on the track "Sick As a Dog" Steven Tyler played bass on part of the song. This entire album was raw from beginning to end.

The Police for me was one of those rare groups that when they split they went out on a high note. Their last album "Synchronicity" was top notch. Three great musicians: Sting, Stewart Copeland, Andy Summers were the perfect storm. The key person that always stood out to me was Stewart Copeland...his drum style is amazing; especially when it comes to the high-hat. "Message in a Bottle" shows off his gift.

Fleetwood Mac for me is a group the best of all worlds: great vocalists (Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie), stellar bassist (John McVie) and drummer (Mick Fleetwood), and Lyndsey Buckingham...when it comes to the guitar and his harmony vocals leaves this brother speechless. His unique fingerpicking style gave that "pop" to their compositions. "Gypsy" is that track for me is all I can say is "damn, the dude is bad." On "Dreams" you can hear the vocal talents of Stevie, Christine, and Lindsey.

Boston was a combination of great talent of one man (Tom Scholz) but also when Sib Hashian, Barry Goudreau, Fran Sheehan and of course Brad Delp was a force to be reckond with and their debut "Boston" album is one of the Greatest of all time. "More Than a Feeling" was all Tom, Brad, and Sib but "Foreplay/Long Time" has some great guitar work by Barry and organ, synthizer work by Tom.

I've been procrastinating but it's finally here, the next MLFM playlist. I'making some small changes to my podcast.

First I'm starting from the beginning. I will begin listening them by number and not monthly because this way I can create as many or few as I wish. This music was supposed to be for the month of March and I found myself trying to play catch up. By me changing the format to numeral so this way if I want to create an extra I can and if someone enjoys a particular playlist and wish to request a download of that playlist I can happily obliged.

Another thing, I'm switching to streaming via my website [ https://mixcloud.com/darrenkeith3 ]. Downloads will be available but only by request. I think most people in this day and time are streaming more and more. This is not to say it will continue to be this way but I have to do what's best for me at time.

I will begin putting more details in my shownotes and speaking less on the podcasts. I feel I express myself better through written words than spoken words. To be honest I believe I need an dialect coach in regards to speaking voice. I feel my voice doesn't hold much weight. I will still use ID drops and if others are interested in recording an ID drop for my podcasts please feel free. This will also give me a feel who's listening to my shows.

This playlist is a mixture of a couple of tunes from the duo Special EFX (Chieli Minucci - Guitarist and the late George Jinda - Percussionist). This was the first album I bought when I heard the track "The Flow". I had to throw in a track from Steely Dan and a track from Donald Fagen from his second solo work, "Kamakiriad". Other tracks include music from Keiko Matsui, The Braxton Brothers, Paul Taylor, David Torn, Andy McKee, Don Ross and others.

Note to GOP:This Issue Is Not Going Away

Someone please explain to me what's going on with the hatred towards the youth when it comes to
gun control? From BLM to the youth of Stoneman Douglas High School, White Conservatives are losing their minds and I think I know why...the young is smart, brash, social media savvy, and not having the nonsense. They're calling out politicians that are afraid of the NRA, politicians that care more for lobbyist than Americans, From Sandra Brown, Trayvon Martin, to Sandy Hook to the senseless killing in the streets of Chicago where the Hipsters have dropped the ball the youth from high schools to grade schools are letting the world know, "We are about to show you grownups how it should be done."

Having my cynicism grow sense the hatred toward Obama and now this individual in the White House and this current GOP congress allowing this current administration to carry out such shameful behavior because this is a distraction for their agenda to be carry out the youth of today are calling the "Adults" out on their foolishness. There are still major tensions between the races, some feel the children from Florida are being treated with more respect than the youth who are evolved with the Black Lives Matter movement (being a Black man I feel their frustration, I can't lie, those feelings creep up in my soul) and Native Americans who voices have been snubbed out for centuries but many White youths are reaching out to People of Color and trying to bridge that gap and that scares the hell out of White Conservatives. This is why GROWN people are attacking the youth as if they are the Enemy of the State.

I'm constantly hearing politician pundits and politicians trying to down play this movement with comments like "they're not old enough to vote" and "will they be able to keep this excitement for this cause until November 2018" but what these "grown folks" fail to realize many will be old enough to vote this year and next year they will special elections and those teenagers will be able to vote and before you know it 2020 will be here. What we as adults fail to realize is the world doesn't around us...we (adults) are sometimes set in our ways and it takes youth to make us realize times are changes. From Killer Mike NRATV interview (who later posted a couple of Twitter videos apologizing for his comments) to Jesse Hughes of Eagles of Death Metal calling the survivors "vile abusers" to Rick Santorum stupid/pointless comments. And the media will not make it worse by repeating and replaying these hateful comments over and over.

These attacks should shock and make me ill to my stomach but it doesn't. This is where the teenagers should reach out to the Black Youth who are apart of the Black Lives Matter movement, young Hispanics who are advocates, Native-Americans who voice that has been ignored for a long time. If anyone knows how what it's like to be vilified are People of Color because we are constantly rebuked, insulted in every way, shape of form. We will never accept this hateful act but we have thick skin when it comes to this stupidity.

To the next generation my message to you is keep doing what you're doing. The current GOP will first make comments about it's okay for you to exercise your "1st Admendments Rights". They will try a put pressure on your parents, mock your cause, try and belittle and beat your self-esteem down so low where you want to give up. Reach out to one another via Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram (oh, there's a new social platform, Vero). Of course there are adults that will have your back but there will be some that will be cowards. You will be hurt along this journey and you may lose friends along the way but in your heart you know you're doing the right thing. Always stay humble and listen to elders that are down for you because they have wisdom when it comes to dealing with this craziness.

You have a long, rough road ahead but as you already see keeping silent only leads to having your future set for you and it's not in your best interest.

What's going on Good People,

I know it's been a loooong time since I have brought a MLFM podcast that was "chill" so what better way to get back to the basics than to not only bring you relaxing music but to bring you a label that is near and dear to my heart...Windham Hill. I've created a playlist and shared it with the masses in my early MLFM podcast days and I said I would bring more but I broke my promise and that I am sorry. But who says you can't make up for your shortcomings. Since being a part of a wonderful Facebook Group I have no choice but to share music from this genre from my music library. To the creator of the group, John Dark...thank you for this gift that not only makes me discover the tunes I love but discovering tunes I've never heard or didn't take time to listen to them because I had my favorite Windham Hill tunes on repeat. Some on this playlist I have heard many times but this times I made myself move out of my comfort zone to check out some composition for the first time. I'm sure my Windham Hill peeps have heard these tunes but for me it's like discovering this label for the first time. I have to admit my catalog is not that deep but that's not going to stop me from sharing them with everyone because when Will Ackerman (founder of Windham Hill back in 1976 through 1996 when he sold the label) I believe his main focus was creating and producing music to feel a void in the music world and in my opinion he did just that. This music you can play with a close knit of friends, share with that special someone in your life or if you want to sit back and reflect, it covers it all.

This podcast playlist goes out to all the members of the 'Windham Hill Lovers', to the musicians who created some of the best musician that will always be played around the way and around the way (I had steal that line from you Macedonia). I'm blessed to be FB friends with Liz Story, the late Michael Hedges, GE Stinson, Fred Simon, Phil Maggini, Michael Manring, Alex de Grassi and of course, Will Ackerman...some of the core musicians that shaped the music world with their innovation and playing style.

I know many of you are doing your own thing but I just want to say "Thank You" for sharing your music, your gift with the world. It shaped my music world and took me down a music path that has been fulfilling ever since.

Happy New Year Good People,

I tried to record this early January 2018 but to be honest I was having a hard time getting a flow for this playlist. One of my Brothers in Podcasting, Todd Kelley, taught me over a decade ago you have to make sure you have a strong opening and closer when it comes to music podcasting so I went through several tunes to be the opening because for me when it comes to David Bowie this gentleman has many great tunes and to intertwine the Talking Heads was harder than I participated. I was going to scrap the podcast but what always helps me is when my body is in motion so I will go for a walk and the idea will flow. So what better song to start off the show is "Under Pressure".

If you haven't checked out "David Bowie: The Last Five Years" on HBO I recommend it. Although he was sick he wanted to make sure he finished his music projects before he succumbed to cancer. I have to admit I don't have music from his last two albums but I will make it my mission to buy his "The Next Day" and "Blackstar" albums and have them in future shows.

The music of the Talking Heads for me has always been quirky and yet ahead of its time. Their music and videos were creative and takes me down memory lane coming up in the 80s. Their music went down different roads and it was alright by me because my taste has always been eclectic. For me it was to groups in the 80s that quit at the height of popularity...The Police and Talking Heads.

I have a couple of tracks from two of my former Windham Hill artists, Michael Manring and Torcuato Mariano.

What's going on Good People. :-)

It's been a hot minute since I brought a digital mixtape...my apologies. Life gets in the way and let's be honest we say to ourselves, "I'll do it tomorrow"...tomorrow turns into "next week" and before you know it weeks have turned into months. No need to dwell on the past, right? I'm here, you're here and it's all about the music.

When the 80s had come to an end I was wondering what music would catch my ear. I had already began listening to artists like Russ Freeman, Shadowfax, Will Ackerman, Acoustic Alchemy, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones and other artists from the Jazz, Fusion music. My love for music genres had began to expland but I still had my ear to the ground in regards to R&B, Pop music and this gentleman hit my ears in 1991. It was unique to me...it wasn't Pop nor Soul...this sound was all to itself and I loved it.

The tune "Crazy" blew me away but "Violet" was the track that had me hooked on Seal. To hear a track that was played on the radio (yes, that ancient relic) that was longer than 4 minutes ( 8 minutes and 30 seconds for that matter) was refreshing and the way the composition was put togetheer was a delight. To have vocals, music, talking vocals sprinkled into the track was different. The last time I had experience that was Pink Floyd, "The Wall". Seal's 1991 debut album was like a album where the music should have been in soundtrack...some tunes were intertwined , gapless, something you weren't hearing on the radio at the time.

Tracks in the lineup are from the albums I have in my library that whenever I hear them it makes me sit back become in awe with his lyrics, the instruments, the engineering and mixing that went into the them. Shout out to Maria, KB, and the "Sensei" of Podcasting, EJ Flavors for letting me know the tracks that you enjoy. They are in this podcast. I also added a track from the late Chet Atkins, George Michael and Fleetwood Mac. George Michael jumps out at me because when watching his documentary, "Freedom" he performed "Killer" live when he performed in Brazil. Chet Atkins I wanted add because of his guitar finger-style playing that brings a smile to my face which in turn was an influence on Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac. (See how I tied that all together...clever, huh?) ;-)

I enjoyed putting his list together and I hope you get a chance to slow down and kick back and listen this music.

MLFM - March 2017Extra (Still Had Some Music Left in Me)

I had a little more music left in me for the month of March so of course I had to share with the masses. Every so often some contemporary pop tunes from today creep in my soul and I have to scratch that itch. I had to throw in two of my favorite tunes from back in the 70s: Bee Gees and Al Wilson. 70s love tunes in my opinion are some of the best written on so many levels; the arrangement in regards to the strings and horn sections, the lead vocals, the harmony vocals. It sticks with you for a lifetime. I also love 80s love songs from the U.K. From Level 42, Everything but the Girl, Spandau Ballet, Danny Wilson and too many others to name. I'm bias but I grew up in the best time when it comes to heartfelt music that moves you from within.

Of course I will have some instrumental tunes in the playlist to keep the relaxing flow going. Enough of my words, enjoy the music. Have a great day.

I dig how this playlist came together. I know I have said this before but many times the music takes on a life of it's on. I start down one road with the tunes and they make a sharp right or left and the end product makes me sit back and say "Whoa" that's alright. This set of music is some of my favorite Soft Rock music I grew up on in the 70s and I have some jazz. I'm getting to the point where I'm trying to get away from "labeling" music because for me either it's music I love or I don't and it doesn't matter what genre of music it is.

This is a special podcast in so many ways. First, this is the 10th anniversary of Cupid's Hunt. Second, this kinda full circle because my first full podcast was this artist, Michael Franks.

Anyone who follow my podcasts know Mr. Frank's is one of my favorite artist. His music arrangements, his lyrics, his vocals for me explains and expresses love to a whole new level. I'm not going to rehash when I began listening to one of the original "Cool Breeze" cats but one thing I do know, if you want to learn how to write great love songs he is one of the gentleman to follow.

Shout to T. Grundy for reaching out to me 10 years ago to be one of the participates in CH. Thanx to "The Sensei", EJ Flavors for giving me the bandwidth back in 2008 to post my very first full length podcast. Trek Robinson, Todd Kelley, Macedonia for giving me tips and tricks to become a better podcaster; Lisa Stanton aka Anewlis for helping me set my first hosting site. We have a close-knit community when it comes to music and I've met some new brothers and Sisters in Podcasters along the way.

It's going to be a little over 90 minutes of music. For me the hardest thing was to narrow the playlist down to 90 minutes. Michael Franks for me (I'm being so bias right now) is one of the best songwriters/composers/arrangers today. It seems this gentleman knows how to get into the heart and soul of a person to make them feel like the only person that matters is the one you love. He makes being in love corny, sappy, fulfilling, erotic, fun, and beautiful.

So with that said, ladies and gents...Michael Franks.

I'm so happy I'm able to spotlight one the gifted pianist/keyboardist/composer, Joe Sample. I'm not going to lie, I need this in my life right about now. Sometimes the best ideas comes to you when you're at your lowest and my lowest is having this Man/Baby in the White House. I couldn't even watch the Super Bowl because the quarterback, coach, and owner of the Patriots are pals with this individual who is now our President of the United States. So I buried myself in our study and began listening o Mr. Sample and it hit me to create a podcast dedicated to him.

I have tunes in this playlist when he was with his group Crusaders and his solo work. From his work with Michael Franks, Al Jarreau, Lalah Hathaway, Randy Crawford, too many to choose from so I stuck with he beautiful ladies: Randy Crawford and Lalah Hathaway. I hope you get a chance to really kick back and relax and soak in the compositions of the best musicians that blessed us with so much music.

Good Afternoon (close to Evening) everyone,

I hope all is well with everyone. Well it's been over a year since I have come out with a podcast. All I can say is that other matters had to come first. Life is wonderful, rough, tough, exhausting, exciting and other words that I can't come up with at the moment but all and all I can't complain.

Back when I started in 2008 I was like a machine cranking out podcast after podcast. Although it was cool it became a little overwhelming and it turned into work. My Brother in Podcasting, Mark, was having a conversation in regards to how we had to step back from the grind due to taking care of other matters.

Creating this podcast/playlist was pretty cool because
a) It was relaxing (the way it used to be).
b) I've watched no TV this weekend (if you wish to have hours sucked out of your life watch TV...not that I'm complaining because I'm a TV head plus with the election I'm a political junkie even though it makes me angry I still love the process).
c) To be able to take my time and not only find the music but listen to the tracks...priceless.

Of course the playlist goes from Electric Jazz, to Pop Vocals, to Acoustic Jazz. You know how i am when it comes to music so with that said, enjoy the tunes.

MLFM December 2015: George Howard and Earl Klugh Spotlight

2015 was a really lean year in regards to me creating music podcasts. I'm not going to lie my heart wasn't into producing them. Don't get me wrong, the music I will ALWAYS love but I kinda felt it may have run its course. But when I did create them it was so wonderful because I felt I was "home". I know it's a line that many people use but I for me it's real...music is the "Soundtrack for my life". I have always been able to escape when I have been down and this year has been a heck of a rollercoaster. More Ups and Downs but it has been a year where I've been doing some deep reflection and I came to the conclusion that music has been and will always be a part of me.

For me music makes me go to places where sometimes I don't want to venture but in the end I'm glad I took the journey. This is the last podcast for 2015 and for me I had to end it with two artists that when I kick back and reflect the late saxophonist George Howard and acoustic guitarist Earl Klugh they remind me why I love Smooth Jazz so much. For me their music keeps me believing in true love, joy, and their music puts a halt to my hectic life. It was hard to choose just 15 tracks but while doing chores this morning I happened to place them on a separate minidisc and listen...I mean REALLY listen to their compositions and what a treat it was to do so at this time in my life. Once I arrived back home I felt a procrastination come over me but I had to get myself up and put this playlist together. Once I got behind the laptop and mic there was no stopping me and this is the reason why I love music, it makes me move forward. My motto for 2016 is "More Creation/Less Consuming". This means getting back to my passions: writing, photography, technology, and yes...more music podcasts.

I hope this selection makes you want to create and at the same time savor the moment of your journey.

Learning to Read Again

I've decided after decades of having this issue I've decided to finally address this issue and tackle it head on...I've decided to learn and read...again.

When I was child I loved to read. Sci-Fi and Fantasy books, Mad magazines, Cracked Magazines. I remember when we could order books I would read everything from The Hardy Boys to Peanuts. I would either bury myself in my room, walk to our local library in our small town or go over my best friend's house and read there. I remember catching the bus to the drug store and buy comic books. Those were great times. But over time I became lazy. Yep, I said it, lazy when it came to reading. I found myself skimming and not taking the time to just sit, relax and read. I allowed myself to let television consume me. Nothing wrong with watching TV but I've overdone it.

Toward the end of this year I'm making myself get back to things that bring a smile to my face: photography, blogging, podcasting, and yes...reading.

One of the things that I know about myself is that I love to express myself through words. Rather if it's blogging, texting, IM (isn't that the same thing? Texting/IM?), I'm an introvert. Always have been, always will be until I die. I have to admit the past couple of years I've come out of my shell more so in regards to the job that I have but overall I've never been an extrovert...it's not in me and that's okay. I am who I am. I'm not comfortable around huge crowds. I love my quiet time, I love to be able to hear myself think and that's a beautiful thing. As I sit here and jot these thoughts down I feel free and I'm glad I've been blessed with this gift to express myself through words, images, and music. Things I've decided to do going forward...

Learning to write scripts for Film and Television...I have always had an over-active imagination so why not get paid for it, right?

Sign up of Good Reads again...this will hold me accountable when it comes to picking up, reading and finishing books. I know many of my Facebook Twitter, and G+ peeps use this site so I will be adding you in the near future.

I know there are some things you need to keep to yourself but then again there are some things you need to say out loud to hear yourself say it and share with close people so they can keep you on track.

The other social sites I'm letting go. I know one time when I only allowed myself to communicate through few social sites it was like a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. This was my own doing so I have no one to blame but myself.

Don't get me wrong, I will forever be a geek. I love technology and will always use it...but now I need to utilize it for more than just pleasure. I have too many tech tools at my disposal and not using them to my full capability.

I have plenty of books to keep me occupied for a long time. I will still watch TV but I have to monitor myself (I can't give up my X-Files, Luther, and other Sci-Fi, adventure programming. That's what keep the creative juices flowing).

Well that's it. I'm not calling this a "New Year's Resolution" because why should I wait until 2016. These things bring me joy and happiness now.
