Already getting major attention and rightly so the PDE have all the potential to be 2009's underground crossover act.The brainchild of Robin Hannibal from Osuwu & Hannibal fame on Ubiquity Records this is his penultimate creation. Slightly reminiscent of the 80's groups Tom Tom Club, Pop Group and the Bush Tetras but sounding totally futuristic like MIA & or those upstarts the New Young Pony Club please take the time to check out the disco lazer sci-fi jungle video created by multi talented Aleks Sakowski on Youtube.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFztieTu0H4Robin's unique talent for quirky catchy & cool as hell perfect pop first caught our attention via the Osuwu & Hannibal 2006 album release on the American West Coast Ubiquity records. When we first heard Robin's new project PDE we flipped as its encompasses all the last 30 years of oddball, manic, funky, progressive & unique music that we admire & love so much.'Pizza Turtle Cadillac' features Coco Solid, a New Zealand born MC & already a star in her own right who is currently on a worldwide tour. This independent MC has been rocking the airwaves for some time whilst also performing alongside the likes of Sway, Spankrock and SA-RA.The hilarious tongue in cheek joint 'Weight Watchers' again from Coco Solid has all the hall marks of the early Soft Cell material with Cindy Ectasy. Slightly sinister, funny as hell, with a funky lyrical flow and damn sassy too!Rounding up the package are the Yam Who? reworks. Ruff electronic disco funk is the only way to sum up their production for PDE. Retro, futuristic with touches of magic cosmic love dust and already receiving play from James Murphy (LCD), Maurice Fulton, Horse Meat Disco, Faze Action, Lindstrum, Prins Thomas, Metro Area & Daniel Wang.

dl

(EARS 3006) Sidwho - Vote Bowie For President Vinyl 2009

Sidwho - Vote Bowie For President
Label: The Walls Have Ears
Catalog#: EARS 3006
Format: Vinyl, 12"
Country: UK
Released: 05 Oct 2009
Genre: Electronic
Style: House, Disco

Tracklisting:
A Vote Bowie for President
B Violet Run (Jamie Paton Edit)

Buy: Juno
RubaDub
Our first release on TWHE that doesn't directly involve Cage & Aviary hails from Adelaide in Oz. We met Sid on myspace, and very quickly signed him up to be one of our 6 remix victims for a series that we're putting out (you may have heard part1 - Country Girls by the Bow Mods). We became good friends with Sid, and on hearing his other tracks we soon realised that he's got bags of talent. Vote Bowie is an instant winner - call it Funky Rock, call it Cosmic, call it Balearic, call it plain brilliant. Straight into a killer groove, the superb vocals, live instrumentation and analogue arpeggiators keep the intensity going for all of 8 mins...Imagine if David Bowie was your president! As if that wasn't enough, we have another classic-in-waiting nestled on the b-side. Sounding like some long lost 80s b-side, haunting strings and live bass push the floating vocals along, before giving way to more analogue arpeggiated niceness. The track has been re-arranged by Jamie Paton from Cage & Aviary, taking the middle section into dubbed-out territory, before returning to the stunning strings and bass for the pay-off.

dl

(RONGDFA 11) Woolfy - Oh Missy Vinyl 2009

Woolfy - Oh Missy
Label: Rong Music, DFA
Catalog#: RONGDFA11, RONGDFA11
Format: Vinyl, 12"
Country: US
Released: Feb 2009
Genre: Electronic
Style: House, Disco
Credits: Bass - Dale "The Lurcher" Jennings*
Drums, Percussion - Stewart Killen
Written-By - Simon James (3)
Notes: Additional Production And Remix For whatever/whatever Productions.

Tracklist:
a1 Oh Missy (WHATEVER/WHATEVER - Mix)
Remix, Producer [Additional] - Bryan Mette , Justin Strauss
b1 Oh Missy (WHATEVER/WHATEVER - Dub)
Remix, Producer [Additional] - Bryan Mette , Justin Strauss
b2 Oh Missy (Misstrumental)

Buy: Decks RubaDub
Second WOOLFY 12inch on RONG/DFA featuring two remixes from 80s remix legend JUSTIN STRAUSS, under the name WHATEVER WHATEVER. The resulting cacophony of squelches and bleeps resulted in the third release on new fledgling Jisco affiliated label under the shade.

(acido 006) Dreesvn - Tall Stories Vinyl 2009

Dreesvn - Tall Stories
Label: Acido Records
Catalog#: acido 006
Format: Vinyl, 12"
Country: Germany
Released: 2009
Genre: Electronic
Style: House, Techno
Credits: Other [Artwork] - SVN
Producer - Dynamo Dreesen , SVN (2)

Tracklist:
A1 Untitled
Remix - Rasselbande Housemæn*
A2 Untitled
B1 Untitled
Electric Piano - Takashi Wada
B2 Untitled
B3 Untitled
Edited By - DJ Sotofett

Buy: RubaDub Clone HardWax
Class mixture of early 90's UK, Detroit and Berlin techno from Dreevsn on the always good Acido label. My personal favourites are "When it's late" with it's cockadoodledooing summer [ware]house vibes and the stark acid soundscapes of the title track "Gesloten Cirkel", but in all fairness all the tracks are killer and should not be overlooked. And as we have come to expect, much the same can be said of the evil sickness that is 'Eat like hawks' by Bjorn Svin (with a little help from Karsten Pflum, Jona Olesen & Copyflex!). It starts like it means to go on, with a gnarled loop and indecipherable distorted vocals, and is gradually tweaked and augmented to the point of destruction. All manner of ill bass, overdriven filters, zaps, clanky drums & feedback join the party before the whole affair is brought to an abrupt end by the strange foreign lady that we have come to know and love over the course of the track. Truly music for small, sweaty, strobe-driven cellars. dl</itunes:summary><itunes:keywords>Industrial, Karsten Pflum, Bjørn Svin, Jonas Olesen And Copyflex, Techno, RSB, Ancient Methods, Experimental</itunes:keywords>

(playrjc - 003) Massimiliano Pagliara - Toxic Love Vinyl 2009

Massimiliano Pagliara - Toxic Love
Label: Live At Robert Johnson
Catalog#: playrjc - 003
Format: Vinyl, 12"
Country: Germany
Released: 18 May 2009
Genre: Electronic
Style: Leftfield, House, Synth-pop, Disco
Credits: Artwork By - Michael Satter
Written-By, Producer - Massimiliano Pagliara
Notes: Mastered at Schnittstelle, Frankfurt.
Manufactured in the EU via MPO.
Distributed by Kompakt, Cologne.

Tracklist:
A1 I Love You And That‘s Me
Electric Guitar - Neda Sanai
Lyrics By, Vocals - Molly Nilsson
A2 Sometimes At Night
Electric Guitar - Neda Sanai
Lyrics By - Massimiliano Pagliara
Vocals - Massimiliano Pagliara , Molly Nilsson
B1 Continental East Funk
Bass [Electric Bass], Guitar - Jules Etienne
Vocals - Jules Etienne , Massimiliano Pagliara
B2 Ophelie
Bass [Synth Bass], Electric Guitar - Jules Etienne
Vocals - Lemercier

Buy: Clone decks djshop
Live at Robert Johnson is proud to announce a new bounce to the ounce. Italian runaway and Berlin resident Massimiliano Pagliara gives us some 12-inch „Toxic Love“. After his brillant Balihu release „Transmission Florales“ and some work for the Belgian disco major Eskimo, „Toxic Love“ further cements his love for old synthies, gentle drum machine sounds and textures that are clearly influenced by pop muzik. In our today's world that is dominated by quick laptop shots, Pagliara takes his time to actually write music on and with some dusty intruments. At least, we love to think so. The four songs (yes, they are) on his to our knowledge second-ever Maxisingle capture late night love sickness, broken heart feelings, bittersweet romantic feelings and futuristic disco fantasies. Featuring the microphone skills of Molly Nilsson and Jules Etienne, this stuff wouldn't sound out of place during a Chromatics' concert or under a mirror ball near you. He's Italian and he's disco, whether this makes it Italo-Disco is up to you. We just hope Massimiliano will “never go away…away…away…”

(WOLFEP 001) Atmosfear / KRL - Dancing In Outer Space (The Revenge & Greymatter Reworks) Vinyl 2009

Atmosfear / KRL - Dancing In Outer Space (The Revenge & Greymatter Reworks)
Label: Wolf Music Recordings
Catalog#: WOLFEP001
Format: Vinyl, 12", 33 ⅓ RPM, EP
Country: UK
Released: Jun 2009
Genre: Electronic
Style: Deep House, Disco

Tracklist:
A1 Atmosfear - Dancing In Outer Space (The Revenge Rework 1)
Remix - Revenge, The (2)
A2 KRL - Recession Beat
B1 Atmosfear - Dancing In Outer Space (Greymatter Rework)
Remix - Greymatter (2)
B2 KRL - Remember Donny (Greymatter Remix)
Remix - Greymatter (2)

Buy: Juno
THESE REWORKS BY THE REVENGE (SOUL HEAVEN, JISCO MUSIC) & GREYMATTER (MR BONGO, UNIQUE UNCUT) PRESENT TWO UNIQUE INTERPRETATIONS OF THE ORIGINAL, THE REVENGE STRIPS THE TRACK DOWN INTO ONE OF HIS TRADEMARK SLAMMING MID TEMPO GROOVES, WHILST GREYMATTER KEEPS IT CLOSER TO THE ORIGINAL BUT ADDS A NEW LEVEL OF DRAMA FOR THE DANCE FLOOR. Over the past five years minimal techno has taken new steps towards developing into a complex and multilayered electronic genre. In 'The Esometrical Sky', nAX_acid takes this evolution a step forward, reviving trance elements in this deep and dark scenario. It is here that we enter the no man's land that divides esoteric sound with a techno tradition. The EP has a spontaneous feel to it, which is so often lacking in some of the more mainstream minimal music. A continuous analogical element that never starts and never ends, gives the listener the impression they are in the presence of musicians engaged in an ad hoc jam session. The EP is however produced to the highest of levels and never compromises in terms of sound quality. The EP could be filed in a "Submarine Techno" folder along with artists and labels like Apnea, Giorgio Gigli and Modern Heads. This is stuff for heady mental listeners or dancers submerged in a dark strobe room, but it would go down equally well in a set on a beach as the sun goes down on a British summer's day... If comparisons must be made the only one that can do it justice is to say that with 'The Esometrical Sky' nAX_acid has firmly established himself as a modern techno artist on a par with yesterday's Psychic Warriors of Gaia.

dl

(software 08) HD Substance - Somewhere Down EP Vinyl 2007

HD Substance - Somewhere Down EP
Label: Software
Catalog#: software08
Format: Vinyl, 12", EP
Country: Spain
Released: 23 Apr 2007
Genre: Electronic
Style: Techno, Minimal, Dub Techno
Credits: Written-By, Producer - Luis Rozalén

Tracklist:
A Somewhere Down
B Silicon Cut
B2 Outro

Buy: djshop
Here comes the eight ball in the software pool game… the labels colour is black and the labels boss HD Substance is kicking balls. Once more a luscious and deep release: on a side >Someone down< is a driving track, full of 808 percussion work out over a sub bass frequency reminder of the old LFo records, on top of liquid synth layers and bubbles, HDs trademark sound, a sure winner. On the flip side silicon cut goes more dubby and basic channel infected, with aquatic synth stabs and a moving bass line perfect for sub woofer testing.. Future and tradition in one pack. As a gift a one minute Japanese speaking intro for those who understand life in Tokyo. These recordings remain separate to his dancefloor productions for Meanwhile and Styrax, instead exploring beautifully tempered zones of twilight ambient and drifting electronica comparable to his peers like Stephen Hitchell and Rod Modell. As the label states in its manifesto it's "...music that represents their true voice... not just that which they feel others will accept", meaning Quietus music is lovingly crafted with a personal touch, made to communicate with the few who understand it, as opposed to the masses who either don't, or are too cynical to fall for its charms. Aside from the final track, each composition has a lengthy average time of 15 minutes, giving Van Wey space to calmly develop majestic cloud-like structures of droning synth tones with hazy washes of reverbed harps on 'It Mattered Once', or billowing dub chords stretched to the horizon on 'You Will Know Where To Find Me'. 'Live To See The Day' is guided by the cinematic reverie of composers like Harold Budd, and the ebb and flow of 'Time Will Tell' will appeal to anyone familiar with Eno. As ever, these copies are in very short supply and once they're gone... Gorgeous.

(SPK 007) Son Of Sound - Trial By Fire EP Vinyl 2008

Son Of Sound - Trial By Fire EP
Label: Speak Recordings
Catalog#: SPK0007
Format: Vinyl, 12", 33 ⅓ RPM, EP
Country: US
Released: May 2008
Genre: Electronic
Style: Disco
Credits: Written-By, Producer - Henry Maldonado*
Notes: C&P 2008 Speak Recordings U.S
Published by Rhythm Section Music
Distributed by Downtime 161

Tracklist:
A1 Even After Hours
A2 The Yes & No
B Did I Hear Movement

Buy: Clone flexx Juno
Three tracks guaranteed to satisfy the nu-disco, electro and house massive. This is strictest dub techno style from Decoside, with two sides covering the same territory as Echospace, Mike Huckaby, Quantec, or Brendon Moeller with thick house and techno rhythms captured within slowly shifting and evolving soundscapes inspired by the original Basic Channel sound. The mastering job from Aaron Carl really brings these cuts to life and the bass is supremely heavy but not overbearing on 'Reload 2' making for a very pleasureable dub techno experience.

dl

FUCK BUTTONS - Tarot Sport (ATP) cd -2009-

Fuck Buttons - Tarot Sport
Label: ATP
Cat#: ATPRCD35
Format: CD, Album
Released: Oct 2009
Genre: Electronic, Rock
Stile: Indie Rock, Shoegaze, Noise, Post Rock

Tracklisting:
1. Their second album, 'Tarot Sport,' boasts a production job from none other than Andrew Weatherall, helping to further define their mystically experimental aesthetic. 'Surf Solar' is the awesome lead single, included here in its full 10-minute exploratory glory, imagining a meeting between the power of Kevin Shields-sculpted noise textures with Emeralds-style synth drones and an ecstatic feeling usually reserved for the likes of The Field. 'Rough Steez' bleeds out of that track into a muscular display of torn metal synth-scrapes driven by endlessly repetitive Krautrock rhythms, while 'The Lisbon Maru' focusses on launching a cataclysmic post-rock effort with a screaming crescendo worthy of Animal Collective. The epic 'Olympians' is pure hands in the air business with a delirious feedback loop tapped directly from Tiesto's wildest dreams, and 'Phantom Limb' sounds like Kraftwerk's 'Metal-on-Metal' looped and spooled through an array of alien FX. Which all leaves 'Space Mountain' and 'Flight Of The Feathered Serpent' to bring the dance-mix styled album to a close with a double-drop blast of galloping post-rock-trance ebullience leaving the listener gasping at the sheer delight of it all. An immense effort that should please fans of the first album, and warmly invite many new converts into its wide open arms. We've dropped the tempo down to around the 100bpm mark for something a bit more sleazy. We've taken Iko Iko by Loverde (a resident DJ at San Francisco's legendary club Troccadero Transfer) and given it 2 treatments. One with the love (ie the vocals left in) and the other a tripped out space odyssey which has been making waves on the HMD dancefloor. On the flip we've reworked a hidden gem from Queen's Hot Space album to give the perfect end of the night/Afterhours track. With rock guitars and a squelchy synth bassline and Freddy Mercury's distinctive vocals, this one is Maje! With its distinctive record sleeve and good quality vinyl the latest in the Horse Meat Disco edit series is the perfect companion to the now release compilation on Strut records which is riding high in the compilation charts and getting amazing reviews.

dl

Shackleton - 3Ep's (Perlon 076) LP -2009-

Shackleton - Three Eps
Label: Perlon
Catalog#: PERL 76
Format: 3 x Vinyl, 12", Album, 33 ⅓ RPM, 45 RPM
Country: Germany
Released: Oct 2009
Genre: Electronic
Style: Abstract, Dubstep

Tracklist:
A (No More) Negative Thoughts
B1 Let Go
B2 It's Time For Love
C1 Mountains Of Ashes
C2 There's A Slow Train Coming
D Moon Over Joseph's Burial
E Asha In The Tabernacle
F1 Trembling Leaf
F2 Something Has Got To Give

buy: boomkat
The august rhythm auteur Shackleton gives us all something to get very excited about with the release of his debut solo long player (of sorts) for the equally revered Perlon imprint. Since his relocation to Berlin a couple of years back we've witnessed a marked shift in tempos and style from his more dubstep compatible productions on Skull Disco towards a tempered blend of that city's house and techno modes sharing a common theme of dubwise rhythmic experimentation. Now a resident of the Perlon camp, home to the unique productions of Ricardo Villalobos, Stefan Goldman and Soulphiction among others, he's created a set of rhythms that reinforce his status as one of the most interesting producers - dancefloor or otherwise - in operation right now. All the familiar hallmarks of his style are present, from the often claustrophobically tactile bass weight, to industrial tainted atmospheres and intricate percussive programming, forming loose patterns peculiarly at odds with the metronomic heritage of Berlin but fully in tune with the physical urge that drives so much of it's music. The large majority of this material is fresh off the block, sounding like they came from a consistent set of sessions featuring the producer in a particularly febrile mood, like the restless drones and tense syncopations of 'Moon Over Joseph's Burial', and 'It's Time For Love', or the eastern influences cyclically bleeding through on 'Mountain Of Ashes' or closer 'Something Has Got To Give'. However, quite possibly the best track here is an old favourite, with the overcast vista of 'There's A Slow Train Coming' making a hugely welcome appearance to these ears. Without a doubt, we can say this is one of the albums of the year and should reward any investments twice over in sheer sonic thrills and an entirely unique experience you won't hear anywhere else. Bravo.

try

(Super Tahoe No. 1) Dompteur Mooner - Music For Espionage Vinyl 2009

Dompteur Mooner - Music For Espionage
Label: Super Tahoe Edits
Catalog#: Super Tahoe No. 1
Format: Vinyl, 12", EP, 33 ⅓ RPM, Unofficial Release, Marbled, Transparent, Blue, White
Country: Germany
Released: Sep 2009
Genre: Electronic, Rock
Style: Alternative Rock, Electro
Notes: A1 is a re-edit of Sonic Youth "Brother James"
A2 is a re-edit of Franz Ferdinand "Michael"
A3 is a re-edit of Pink Floyd "Another Brick In The Wall"
A4 features a sample of Riley Reinhold & Steve Barnes "Odyssey"

Tracklist:
A1 Sister James
A2 Michaela
B1 Eggshun MM1
B2 Le Coq Rouge

Buy: Clone
Mooner (ex-Zombie Nation) with his new projects! In France they would call this a dirty edit ;) or otherwise it will be the seductive electronic disco piece on the b2. Everyone from Echospace's Steve Hitchell to Derrick May, Carl Craig and Tama Sumo have been after a piece of Linkwood, including his tracks on their labels, in mixes and regualarly spinning them out in clubs across the world. 'System' is his long awaited debut album, released through Trus'me's brilliant Prime Numbers imprint, where he sits in the good company of Detroit cats like Reggie Dokes and 313-indebted heads such as Actress and the label owner himself. Tracks like 'Robot parade' show an appreciation of the wider spectrum of Detroit and Chicago music with a Juan Atkins meets Shari Vari electro funk killer featuring Dollskabeat on vocals and Moog from Fudge Fingas, while 'Tears' is an immense soul boogie cut with the tripping filter techniques of Theo Parrish written right through it. 'Falling' harks back again to classic electro-soul, and 'Pumpernickel' is one of the coolest space disco tracks we've heard all year. His cohort Fudge Fingas pops up again on the ace 'Fudge Boogie' with achingly fresh Juno and Moog keys, and 'Chicago Pt.2' is just a shockingly heavy slab of discofunkhouse-whatever-you-want-to-call-it, guaranteed to make a big mess on your dancefloor. The production levels and attention to details are extraordinarily high and should easily place this in the top 5 albums of it's type for this year. Very cool wares, very big recommendation.

L.E.S.S.
