Problem:

Google Chrome uses Google translate to automatically prompt you if you wanted translation when you visited a non-English page. However if you have closed the translation toolbar at the top of the page by clicking the [Show Original] button whether by accident or on purpose, the translate toolbar will disappear at the top and you may have problem getting it back if you did not select the option to “Always translate…..to English” when you revisited the page again.

Solution:

To do the translation of the page and the translation tool bar reappear, just right mouse click anywhere on the page (except on Flash video). A pop up menu will appear as shown below. You should now see an option called “Translate to English”. Select that option to enable translation on that page and the Google translate tool bar should re-appear on top of the page again.

You probably knew how to create firefox profiles to store different browser settings, cookies, bookmarks, plugins and etc. Creating a shortcut to open firefox profile manager is easy. All you have to do is to add the “-P” or “-profilemanager” at the end of firefox.exe

When you launch firefox via a profile manager for the first time. The profile manager pop ups and you will get to select the user profile to start with. However, if you already have a firefox window opened, subsequent activiting of the firefox shortcut will open a new firefox window of the activated profile instead.

So in order to launch the profile manager again so that you can choose a different profile while keeping the other profiles open at the same time, create another new firefox shortcut and name it “Firefox profile manager”.

At the shortcut properties, the “Target” depending on where your firefox program is located should look something like the following:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe” -P -no-remote

I’m going to show you how you can transfer, copy or move Firefox’s bookmarks, addons , plugins, profiles and other settings easily between computers running in Windows XP and Windows 7 without having to do any exporting and importing. This method works on version 3.6 up til version 6.0.2.

Firstly you need to make sure you are able to see hidden folders and files in Windows.
If you are not sure how to do that, you can read up on

How to view hidden files and folders in Windows XP. or
How to view hidden folders and files in Windows 7.

There are 2 simple steps to achieve this. First step is to copy the Firefox settings from the source computer. Second step is to place the Firefox settings into the target computer. (You can also do it between users instead of computers).

Open Windows Explorer, go to the folder <C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\> if it is on a Windows 7, for Windows XP, go to folder <C:\Documents and Settings\XXX\Application Data\Mozilla> where XXX is your Windows Logon username.

Copy all the following folders

Extensions

Firefox

plugins (if you have plugins installed)

On the target computer, paste the folders on to the similar folders.
<C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\> for Windows 7
<C:\Documents and Settings\XXX\Application Data\Mozilla> for Windows XP

Similarly, go to the folder <C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Local\Mozilla\> if it is on a Windows 7, for Windows XP, go to folder <C:\Documents and Settings\work\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla> and copy thee firefox folder.

Paste the copied folder on to the similar folders of the target computer.
<C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\> for Windows 7
<C:\Documents and Settings\XXX\Application Data\Mozilla> for Windows XP
