Man stabbed over karaoke mike

noreply@blogger.com (mystation) — Wed, 22 Aug 2007 13:05:00 +0000

MUAR: A karaoke set owner was stabbed when he asked a man to return the mike the man was using to sing at a Hungry Ghosts festival celebrated at a temple here on Tuesday.

The 33-year-old victim, who operates a karaoke set rental outlet at Jalan Hashim, was rushed to the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital by some friends at about 11pm.

The incident happened when the victim asked the man to return the mike as the celebration was over and he wanted to pack up his system but the "singer" refused to return the mike.

There was an argument between the karaoke set owner and the man and while they were arguing, two men came to confront the victim and one stabbed him in the waist.

Muar police CID chief Deputy Supt Khoo Leng Huat, when contacted, confirmed the incident and said the victim had lodged a police report.

He said police had also detained a man to assist in investigations into the incident.

Launch of Proton Persona
Sneak preview of Proton Persona

PETALING JAYA: Proton has launched its long awaited 1.6-litre Persona sedan at prices rivalling those of 1.3-litre cars.

The Persona will replace the Proton Wira - one of Proton’s highest volume sellers since 1993.

Persona prices range from RM44,999, for the Base Line variant with five-speed manual gear box up, to RM55,800, for the High Line version with four-speed automatic transmission.

The new model, together with Proton's new ventures in China, will "mark the emergence of Proton from its low ebb,'' Managing Director Syed Zainal Abidin said in the company statement.

Proton has been losing money and market share in Malaysia, Southeast Asia's biggest passenger car market.

Proton said in its statement it could sell up to 48,000 units of the car during the first 12 months.

The company, which is 43 percent-owned by Khazanah Nasional, reported a loss of RM591.4 million ringgit for the year ended March 31, 2007 but it expects to be profitable in the new financial year.

Last month, Proton said it would sell at least 30,000 cars to Chinese firm Youngman Automobile Manufacturing Co., marking its first foray into China.

The car maker is also still in talks with Germany's Volkswagen AG on a possible alliance, with a final decision expected to be made by the end of the year, officials have said.

Proton has also pledged to cut costs, boost exports and introduce new models to prop up sales.

Besides the new Persona sedan, Proton reportedly plans to release other models including a multipurpose vehicle in 2009, officials said.

14-year-old girl’s ice cream date turns into rape

noreply@blogger.com (mystation) — Tue, 14 Aug 2007 15:41:00 +0000

KLANG: A fourteen-year-old girl went on a blind date with an underage boy who promised her ice cream only to end up having sex with him.

The boy, also 14, has been remanded for alleged statutory rape.

The girl, who lives in Kuala Selangor, had received an SMS from the boy to go out for a good time at a shopping complex on Sunday afternoon.

The two apparently had subscribed to a service that helped them make friends through SMS.

The schoolgirl met the boy, who also lives in Kuala Selangor, at a shopping complex in Sungai Buloh for window-shopping, some vanilla ice cream and kopi-O.

The boy had told the girl that he was going to an adopted sister’s house in Kapar and would return to Kuala Selangor later.

The girl offered to accompany the boy on his motorcycle.

“On reaching the house in Kapar, the boy convinced the girl to have sex and both stayed the night in Kapar and returned the next morning,” he said.

Klang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Rodwan Mohd Yusof said a police report was lodged after the girl related the incident to her mother.

“We have remanded the boy for two days to facilitate medical examinations,” he said.

noreply@blogger.com (mystation) — Tue, 14 Aug 2007 15:21:00 +0000

No other fruit says summer like the subtly crunchy, thirst quenching watermelon. Although watermelons can now be found in the markets throughout the year, the season for watermelon is in the summer when they are sweet and of the best quality.

As a member of the Cucurbitaceae family, the watermelon is related to the cantaloupe, squash and pumpkin, other plants that also grow on vines on the ground. Watermelons can be round, oblong or spherical in shape and feature thick green rinds that are often spotted or striped. They range in size from a few pounds to upward of ninety pounds.

Muslims believe Issa (Jesus) would do this but the wounds mean He really was crucified, and it's clear also that He is alive! But, it's also clear that the child could not make up a story like this and there is no way these children could have survived without a true miracle.

Time to control bloggers: Hisham

noreply@blogger.com (mystation) — Sun, 12 Aug 2007 22:52:00 +0000

Kuala Lumpur: Umno Youth Chief Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the time has come for regulatory control of bloggers who resort to unethical means to belittle the country's leaders and mock national symbols and instruments. He said the movement would not tolerate anyone, particularly bloggers, who threaten national stability, harmony and traditional values of the country.

"Umno Youth warns that freedom has its limits and we will not tolerate those who touch on the issues of national stability, harmony, cultural values and the personality of national leaders," he said.

Hishammuddin related how irresponsible bloggers had victimised him and his family by spreading slander and even published the picture of an indecently attired young woman whom they claimed to be his daughter.

On Malaysian mass communications student Wee Meng Chee, 24, in Taiwan who rapped to the Negaraku in a video clip, Hishammuddin, who is Education Minister, said the student had discarded the cultures and values of Malaysian society.

William Henry Gates III (born October 28, 1955) is an American entrepreneur, philanthropist and chairman of Microsoft, the software company he founded with Paul Allen. During his career at Microsoft he has held the positions of CEO and chief software architect, and he remains the largest individual shareholder with more than 8% of the common stock.[3] The annual Forbes magazine's list of The World's Billionaires has ranked Gates as the richest person in the world since 1995, with recent estimates putting his net worth near $56 billion.[2] When family wealth is considered, his family ranks second behind the Walton family, heirs of Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton. In July 2007, Fortune Magazine reported that the increase in value Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim's holdings of stock caused him to surpass Bill Gates as the world's richest man.[4][5]

Gates is one of the best-known entrepreneurs of the personal computer revolution. Although he is widely admired,[6][7][8] his business tactics have been criticized as anti-competitive and in some instances ruled as such in court.[9][10] Since amassing his fortune, Gates has pursued a number of philanthropic endeavors, donating large amounts of money to various charitable organizations and scientific research programs through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, established in 2000.
