Hi all, We are a small startup company that deals with network security and topology. So far we have a management application and we are looking for a custom router that can accomodate our 7 patents. The requirements are pretty slim, mostly upload routing-tables and report progress. Can anyone here help with this? The basic product does dynamic network topology and network management. Feel free to contact me. Best Regards, Asaf http://Asaf.Shelly.co.il

I recently switched from AT&T DSL to Cox Cable and had to get a new modem and a new router. My old Netopia was built for DSL so I found a Netgear MR814v2 that would take care of the DHCP chores and provide the bridge to the cable modem. I have several other gigabit Netgear switches in my system as well. There are three GS116's in the system handling a total of about 30 computers. I find that under this new system my workstations won't stay connected for over a minute or so if there is no activity. I then have to use "repair" under WinXP SP3 to get back on the internet. That always works but I find myself, as well as other employees, doing this 10 or 15 times a day when it should be staying on all day long. Can anyone think why this is happening and what we could do to stay permanantly connected? I have a static IP at Cox and have all the IP information entered correctly into the router so I don't know why we can't stay connected. Is my MR814v2 too old to cut the mustard? What should I replace it with...

I installed Tomato v1.23 to my NetGear WGR614L. The wired routing features all seem to work correctly. But every time I enable wireless from the Administration screen, there is a 10-second "Please wait" count-down, but it goes back to Disabled state. And when I try to connect to it from my laptop, the SSID is not visible. I've set up the wireless configuration items using exactly the same values as with my previous router. The wireless worked correctly on this router when I was running the original NetGear firmware. Any suggestions on what to try? Paul McJones

WGR614L's LED behavior in Tomato

I have Tomato build 1.25 (3/30/09) running on a WGR614L set to Client Bridge Mode. So far, things are running fine but I notice something strange with the front LEDs that I'm curious about. 1) The orange/yellow check-mark indicator LED always remains lit. 2) The wireless indicator LED remains off even though the unit is communicating wirelessly. Even on a prior Buffalo router I had which also ran Tomato set to Client Bridge, the wireless indicator LED was lit letting you know the unit was communicating over the network. I don't know if it's supposed to be this way or not but I thought I would ask.

how many computers can network on router? I have a WNR-2000 Wireless-N Router This works with my own laptop. This morning I tried to network a visitor and it didn't work. This evening, I tried a second visitor computer. This time it connected BUT my own laptop was DISCONNECTED. I couldn't reconnect until I had turned OFF the visiting computer AND then i had to restart my own, which took a long time to re-connect because it was looking for the IP address. Please answer this question: Should my router be able to have MORE than my main computer upstairs and my laptop downstairs? That is, can I successfully hook up three or even more computers using this router? And if so, why did I have the problem described above? Thank you. below are the answers I receive thru the Forum Now I am more confused. Your moderator did not explain things in a way I could understand.
Netgear WGR614v8 help?

Yesterday I found out the powerstrip the router was connected to was faulty and it kept restarting it, after I moved it the checkmark became orange, and it hasnt turned off since then. When I connect to it using the ethernet cable i cant ping to it, and the wifi doesnt seem to be working. When i plug in the cable from the modem the "i" light stays orange blinking, the ethernet light is green though. This whole time the checkmark is orange. After much resetting and messing with unplugging and plugging it back in it finally worked, but as soon as I tried changing some settings to it (when it reboots) it stopped working again. My quesion is is it bricked, or does it simply just not work anymore?
