The Process Engineer supports the diagnostic lab by performing preventive and repair maintenance on capillary electrophoresis DNA sequencers. This position will work closely with laboratory technicians and supervisors to ensure that all DNA sequencers in the lab are properly maintained, calibrated, and verified for proper performance.  This position will serve as the key point for technical knowledge on DNA sequencers and as such they will also be heavily involved in troubleshooting sequencing performance issues, identifying and participating in continuous improvement projects in conjunction with staff and Technical Development, and participating on cross-functional teams to implement new processes related to DNA sequencing into operations.

DUTIES

1.  Perform semi-annual preventive maintenance on a fleet of DNA Sequencers.
2.  Respond to breakdown repair tickets for DNA Sequencers, identify root cause and return equipment to working condition. 
3.  Provide detailed documentation of work performed.
4.  Use existing tools to monitor the performance of DNA Sequencers
5.  Identify continuous improvement projects based on sequencer performance data and process evaluation    discussions.
6.  Troubleshoot sequencer performance problems to identify root cause.
7.  Serve as a key technical resource in departmental project teams.


QUALIFICATIONS

1. Meets minimum education requirements:
    a.  Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory/medical technology sciences. OR
    b.  High School diploma with 5 years demonstrated expertise maintaining and repairing laboratory           equipment.

2.  Demonstrated experience maintaining, calibrating, and verifying laboratory equipment, ideally DNA Sequencers   such as the ABI 3100, 3130, and 3730XL as well as being intimately familiar with the following concepts:
    a.  Sanger Sequencing Method
    b.  Capillary Electrophoresis
    c.  Lasers and Optics calibration and alignment

3.  Demonstrated experience working in a regulated laboratory environment and familiarity with automated     maintenance documentation systems.

DUTIES

The primary responsibility of the Area Manager position is to increase the revenue from their defined Area.

QUALIFICATIONS

B.S. in a biological science or related field required 
Required good attention to detail 
Good communication skills a must 
Requires the ability to adapt to change efficiently

The successful candidate will be part of a team that maintains and uses liquid handling robots to extract DNA, quantitative patient DNA samples and prepare them for PCR.  

*Available position is for graveyard shift

The successful candidate will be part of a team that maintains and uses liquid handling robots to extract DNA, quantitative patient DNA samples and prepare them for PCR.  

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:

B.S. in a biological science or related field required 
Required good attention to detail 
Good communication skills a must 
Requires the ability to adapt to change efficiently

Preferred Skills:

Knowledge of PCR and DNA sequencing helpful.
Lab experience preferred, but not required.
