Here are some uses for the mint:

Headaches
Peppermint may ease headaches and migraines. Apply a rub to temple area in circular motion and across the forehead. For migraines, wet hair and put 4-5 drops into your hand and massage into the scalp.

Sinus Problems
Peppermint is very useful in reducing sinus congestion when added to a bowl of steaming or boiling water. A rub may be applied to chest, back of neck area, and behind ears. A few drops of oil in a vaporizer at night will help ease congestion as well.

Digestive System
Peppermint oil can help relax the muscles of the digestive tract to relieve the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. One drop of peppermint oil on a sugar cube or used in tea may help relieve intestinal cramps.

Body Muscles & Arthritis
Peppermint oil is soothing to sore muscles when added to a hot bath or massage oil. Use this to soothe arthritis pain. Mix 4-5 drops of oil into 1 ounce of lotion and/or massage carrier oil.

Feet
Applied full strength, or mixed with a carrier oil, peppermint oil may relieve swollen feet and may reduce and assist in healing blisters, cuts, or athlete's foot by killing bacteria.

Women Only
Relieve menstrual or abdominal cramps, add 1-2 drops of peppermint oil on a sugar cube or into an 8 ounce glass of water and drink. A toothpick dipped in oil works great for tea or water. Also helps to relieve Hot Flashes!

Flu Season?
For a sore throat, sparingly dip a cotton swab into mint oil and carefully apply to the back of the tongue area. Relieve congestion by rubbing a few drops of peppermint oil on chest & covering with warm compress. Add a few drops of mint oil to the water of a humidifier or vaporizer to keep it smelling fresh and kill germs.

Beach Colony Resort in Myrtle Beach is a 22-story, oceanfront, condo resort. Beach Colony Resort offers one bedroom studios to spacious one, two, three and four-bedroom condos. Each room is individually owned and each owner can decorate as they please, or not. After reading a number of reviews, it seems that some of the condos are in very good repair with beautiful decor and upkeep while others are old, dirty and broken down. If you are going to stay here, you should request a specific suite you've been referred to, or if possible, take a look first hand before booking.

They do offer onsite parking, but space is tight and larger vehicles could have difficulty.

Jumping or diving from piers is not permitted.
Glass containers are prohibited on the Beach.
Swimwear is subject to city ordinances in Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, and Surfside Beach. Thong bathing suits are strictly prohibited.
Open containers or beer, or liquor are prohibited in any public place including streets, sidewalks, and in beach areas.
Swimming is prohibited beyond 50 yards from the beach or over shoulder depth unless otherwise stated by a lifeguard.
Only canvas rafts may be used in the ocean and must be equipped with safety ropes.
It is illegal to cut, break, or otherwise destroy sea oat plants, beach grass, or sand fencing.

Second Annual Firehouse Cook-Off, Myrtle Beach, SC

The Myrtle Beach Fire Department’s Second Annual Firehouse Cook-Off is on Saturday, July 26, at Myrtle’s Market. Three teams from the Myrtle Beach Fire Department will compete in a cook-off similar to TV’s popular Iron Chef series for the title of “Fire House Iron Chef”. Each three-person team will have two hours to prepare a meal using a secret ingredient provided to them on the day of the event. They also must use at least three items available from farmers’ market vendors that day. Teams are allowed to bring their own dry goods, such as rice, pasta, flour, salt and pepper. Beginning at 9:00 a.m., the fire chefs will have two hours to prepare a meal with at least 100 sample servings. At 11:00 a.m., a panel of celebrity judges will determine the winner. The winning team will represent the Myrtle Beach Fire Department in a countywide duel in the near future. The public is welcome!

When the Matt Hughes Skateboard Park opened in 1998, it was named in honor of Matthew Reed Hughes, a local skateboarder who died following a skating accident near his home. The skate park is free and open to the public. Rules for use are posted, and helmets are required!

When vacationing in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, there are a few things to keep in mind before you hit the beaches.

1. Don’t forget the sun block. It is hot and humid and very sunny.

2. Most of the beaches do not have life guards.

3. The public beaches such as Surfside Beach and Garden City Beach are free.

4. Huntingdon State Park and Myrtle Beach State Park also offer public beaches but there is a small entrance to get inside the park.

5. Huntingdon State Park has almost no shells on their beach.

6. Surf fishing is permited. No license is required.

7. During the summer months dogs are permitted on beach before 9am and after 5pm.

8. During the summer months horse are not permitted on the beach at any time.

9. Non- Commercial Weddings are allowed on the beaches. No permit required.

10. It is unlawful for any person to drive or operate a motor vehicle on the beach or within public marsh areas.

The Towns:

The town of Myrtle Beach itself is probably the most commercial place I've ever seen. There are more retail businesses packed into the 20+ miles that make up the main routes (Rt 17, Rt 17 Business, and Ocean Blvd.) of Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach than any place I've ever been. In Myrtle Beach, you'll find at least 3 indoor malls, 3 outdoor malls, and 2 outlet malls, in addition to a miriade of small businesses, restaurants, and strip malls or shopping centers.

Southern New Jersey shore towns pack most of their tourist shopping into boardwalks. Which brings me to. . .

Beach Front Property:
Beach Front Property in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is composed of residential homes on the outskirts and huge hotels and resorts in town, plus two pristine state parks.

New Jersey towns have found the commercial possibilities of oceanfront property in the form of boardwalks. Along many (not all) of New Jersey's beaches you will find wooden boardwalks lined with shops, restaurants, arcades, and even amusement parks.

Beaches and Water:
The beaches of Myrtle Beach are beautiful, wide, clean and almost shelless. The tan/brown colored sand, even on a blistering hot day are not too hot to walk on barefoot. And while there is enough shells to apease beachcomers, there is not an overabundance of sharp foot piercing shards. Finally, the water is the perfect temperature. It is cooler than Florida making it refreshing on a hot day, but warmer than New Jersey making it comfortable to spend hours playing with the kids.

New Jersey beaches are also beautiful with tan/brown coloring. These beaches do get very hot and often have a lot of broken shells, flip flops or water shoes are recomended. And I am sad to report, there can be a fair amount of litter too, although to give the local government credit, they do comb the beaches every night to keep everything as clean as possible. The water in New Jersey is fairly chilly most of the year and reaches its warmest temperatures in August.
