I wish that I could wrap up all the love and Holiday cheer
That comes along with Christmas and with New Year's every year,
Pack it in a pretty box and put it on my shelf
And pull it down again each year and give it to myself.
I wish that I could tie up all my favorite carols with twine,
Wind around some ribbon, too, and for twelve months call them mine
Until the next Yuletide came when the sounds again could be unfurled
And untie every single one then give them to the world.

Mabon is the final Sabbat of the year for most Pagans and Wiccans as Samhain marks the New Year and the beginning of a new turn of the wheel of the year. Mabon, (pronounced MAY-bun, MAY-bone, MAH-boon, or MAH-bawn) is the Autumn Equinox.

This sabbate is named for Mabon, the Welsh God who symbolized the fertilizing aspects of the male in Welsh myths. Some mythologists see Mabon as an equal or male counterpart to Persephone.

In China, the day of Mabon or the Autumn Equinox is called Chung Chi'iu and marks the end of the rice harvest.

As the "Witches Thanksgiving," this celebration is one of the oldest in Europe.

In the U.S. and Canada, Thanksgiving had it's first celebration out of the need for the Pilgrims' to connect festivals of their homeland, this cause far exceeded the need to celebrate due to religious concerns or beliefs; the 1st Thanksgiving was frowned upon by Puritans due to it's Pagan roots.

The Christian hymn "Come, Ye Thankful People, Come," begins the celebration and is very much suitable for Pagans to sing during their harvest rituals and ceremonies.

Back To School Shopping in Reno

Yesterday was Back To School Day in our house, yay! My 17 year old senior and 13 1/2 year old Freshman decided to stay on the online home school program while my middle daughter (16) decided to go back to traditional high school for her junior year.

The part I dislike the most about back to school time is the cost of supplies, clothes and shoes. Having all girls, I'm sure some of you can imagine the hours of finding the right stores, the right clothing style, etc.

This year, we shopped at Meadowood Mall in Reno. We found that Meadowood Mall not only was convenient but it had many of the stores we like to shop in conveniently located, the mall offers Guest Services such as WiFi, Baby Changing Station, Iphone App, Lost & Found and more. You can even buy a Gift Card that is accepted at most stores in the mall.

You can visit their website by clicking HERE. You can purchase gift cards, find offers and promotions, print offers right from your computer at home, keep up on the News & Events and even get directions.

Whether you are from the Reno area or just visiting, be sure to stop by Meadowood Mall. There are even bus stops for those that use public transportation, and no long walks after you get off the bus.
