My Favorite Vehicle

I’ve traveled on a lot of different types of vehicles in my life so far but my favorite one of all was an electric streetcar in the town where I grew up.

The streetcar was very quiet on the outside and the inside too. Perhaps because it was so quiet people on it were also very quiet and if talking was necessary you spoke very quietly.I remember the parents or older brothers or sisters shushing the young children. I got shushed the first time I rode as well.

The only sound I recall that broke the silence was the little ding from the cord you pulled to let the driver know you wanted to get out at the next stop.

I think streetcars still exist some places. I wonder if they are as quiet on the inside as ours was.

“Phone Booth” in Flagstaff

Recently while visiting Flagstaff, Arizona, some friends came across a phone booth outside of a popular local eatery. They briefly glanced at it as they went in for their meal. Afterwards as they came out again they looked at the phone booth a second time thinking that it was an odd spot for one.

After all it was literally right on the sidewalk and a little in the way. Then they looked at the phone booth a little more carefully.

They realized that it didn’t say “phone” on the top. It said, “poems.”

They weren’t sure at first whether it was supposed to be an artistic display only or whether they could touch it. They felt they could touch it and went inside and found out that you could look in the “phone book” for an author of poetry and if you used the phone you could hear somebody reading a poem for you.

Is that not unique. I found that to be most enjoyable. When I first saw the photo of the “poem booth” that my friend posted on line I thought perhaps you had to say a poem to be able to use the phone - perhaps recalling one from your favorite poet or making one up.

I thought, what would I do in a situation like that and that’s when I made up this poem that I thought I’d share with you today. Picture if you would what I saw in my minds eye - someone walking along slowly wearing dark glasses and perhaps feeling a little pensive:

Seeing Clearly

While walking along an ancient trail

I noticed a passing spider.

She said open your eyes and remove your veil

And notice the beauty around you.

I hope you enjoyed that little musing today and I thank my friends for posting the photo of this marvelous artistic installation near Macy’s and La Bellavia restaurants in Flagstaff, Arizona.

A Beautiful Sight in the Forest

Did I ever tell you about the time I saw a beautiful sight in the forest? It was many years ago when I was exploring some of the hills and woods of the high country in Arizona.

I found this spot - it was so beautiful. There was a place to pull the car in as the road was used on occasion, though rarely, and every once in a while the gate was open and you could traverse the area.

I got out of my car and breathed in the fresh air and the fragrance of the forest. A few pickup trucks rolled by slowly and people waved a friendly greeting. Of course I waved back. There was a good feeling in the air - a sense of cheerfulness.

And then I found myself alone. It was later in the day but there was still plenty of light. Unexpectedly the forest suddenly became quiet. I was surprised because there were birds and other animals that had been making noises and rustling around in the leaves and pine needles as they often are but then - it got quiet.

There wasn't a sense of foreboding with the quiet though. It was rather a sense of expectation. I remember moving slowly as one might move when you're not sure what's going to happen.

And then I saw something - a flash of motion out of the corner of my eye. I very slowly turned to the left and I saw this incredible sight.

It was… I have to say a spirit. She was green - and so very happy. She was as tall as the trees. She must have been 150 feet tall at the least and she was twirling around in her joy. She had long hair. Her dress was long and flowing with her. She was so happy she radiated happiness. Such a beautiful sight. I could see her for a few seconds and then I didn't see her any more.

There was quiet after I saw her twirling in her happiness and then slowly the sounds of the forest returned with the birds twittering and the sounds of their wings when they were flying and the little sounds in the forest. Off in the distance I saw a deer that I hadn't seen before and the deer nodded at me the way they do in that friendly sense when they feel safe and I nodded back at the deer for our shared experience of seeing the Spirit Of Life.

Remember always to give credit where credit is due and to encourage people onto pathways that you feel are benevolent for them and also to take into account the work that they are doing that is benevolent for others.

People do not get as much encouragement as they need nor do they get the recognition that they need. This is so very important.

As you know it's very easy to fall into a cynical way of being. While this does protect a person in their thoughts, though not really in their feelings, from being disappointed it ultimately just wraps into itself and becomes a reason to be angry and even more disappointed or worse.

So remember and keep it as a watchword to acknowledge, to recognize, to appreciate, to value and to mention it to people how much you care about them and that they are of value.

Changes In How I Post

For a long time now I've been sharing the wisdom I have with you in print here on these blogs and even stories on the stories blog but now I find as I get older I'm going to have to do this in a way that's easier for me and doesn't tire me out quite so much eh :-) so I'm going to shift over completely to video which I've been planing for a long time.

You'll still see video on Explorer Race as you have been so that won't change very much and you'll still see that also on my You Tube BenevolentMagic site so that won't change either but as far as all the transcribed material, that which I have written and posted through the usual process but instead of thinking and typing I've recorded it and transcribed it and posted just in case you're interested, that's all got to stop now because it's too much for one person to do.

Anyway I'm just letting you know. Feel free to consult with these blogs. I may still post, from time to time a video on these blogs here or there so you can watch for that but I'm afraid you're going to have to say goodbye to the print version. Maybe you won't miss it that much.

When I put up video these days it will mostly be Grandfather channeling through me but who knows...maybe there will be other things too.

I just wanted to say how much I've enjoyed interacting with all of you and it's not totally goodbye but it will be different. So, just to let you know. I love you all. Goodnight and goodlife.
