Starting today you can tune into Mystifyingly Glad at Live365. The new streaming Mystifyingly Glad features 12 hours of your favorite retro-pop sounds with new tracks being added on a near daily basis. Unlike the podcast I won't have to sift through my collection to find those rare tracks that the RIAA, BMI, ASCAP and the rest aren't likely to take an unhealthy interest in. On Live365 I can post anything and not worry about licensing and royalties - Live365 takes care of all of that for me.

I'll still post the occasional podcast but this blog will also now become the Mystifyingly Glad Radio headquarters with frequent playlist updates, news and the occasional promotion or contest. I'll also be setting up a request link in the near future.

Please stop by Mystifyingly Glad Radio and give it a listen - it's free!

Mystifyingly Glad - Show 7

Mystifyingly Glad #7

Playlist:

Come Back And Shake Me ... Not that he's completely unknown but the level of recognition he receives is miniscule when compared to his talent and influence on the scene. When I Was All Alone comes from the classic Just An Old Fashioned Love Song album. Look for our Paul Williams Special coming in the next week.

Never Gonna Fall in Love Again | Magic
From the essential compilation Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes) - The Voice of Tony Burrows. Burrows was, like Ron Dante whose Tracy was featured in last week's show, a man of many groups - the voice behind so many classic pop songs from such groups as Edison Lighthouse, Pipkins, First Class and White Plains.

Crystal Blue Persuation | Dave Pell Singers

From Space Age Pop - "Pell released three albums under his own name on Liberty... The last, released in 1969, is now a great favorite of soft pop/easy tempo fans, with terrific versions of Piero Umiliani's dippy classic, "Mah-Na, Mah-Na," the Electric Indians' "Kemo Sabe," and the title tune from the nude musical, "Oh, Calcutta."
Also, check out Dave Pell's Official site

Mystifyingly Glad - Show 2

Mystifyingly Glad Podcast - Show #2
(note: this show has been archived to Rapid Share - click the above link to visit download page)

Playlist:
Happiness Is | The Anita Kerr Singers
Tracy | The Cuff Links
Valentine's Day | Ruth
Small Talk | Claudine Longet

Show Notes:

Happiness Is | The Anita Kerr Singers
Anita Kerr is simply one of the most unfairly underrated figures of the 60's pop music scene. For four decades she has been producing, arranging and performing some of the most wonderful pop, country and inspirational music ever to grave a turntable, tape deck or CD player.
Ms. Kerr has a wonderful official site and I also highly reccomend a visit to Space Age Pop's page devoted to this extraordinary artist.

Small Talk | Claudine Longet
Best known for accidently (or so a jury decided) shooting her lover, professional skier Spider Sabich. Before that tragic event she was probably most famous for being Mrs. Andy Williams. But Claudine recorded some of the finest soft pop the genre has to offer - sweet, sexy and sometimes just a bit silly. Small Talk can be found on The Very Best of Claudine Longet. There's also an excellent compilation Cuddle Up With Claudine which contains the best of her output in the '70's.

Tracy | The Cuff Links
A classic song from the King of bubblegum vocalists. Ron Dante worked minor miracles fronting various conglomerations of session musicians under an ever changing selection of band names - the name may not ring a besll but you sure know his voice. Thier CD re-issues seem to be pretty thin on the ground but you can find Mr. Dyeingly Sad on a number of compilations including Lost Hits of the '60's

Kites Are Fun is one of the classic Sunshine Pop songs and The Free Design perhaps the greatest vocalists the genre produced. Find Kites are Fun and 19 other gems on Very Best of Free Design

As for Sailing - I can't find a thing about it on the web. My copy of the song came off a mix disc burned by a friend of a friend so i don't know if the song is super obscure or if the tracklisting mis-identified it. Either way it's a great song.

Coming Soon

Watch this space for a new series of Podcasts featuring my favorite Sunshine, Bubblegum, Baroque, Easy, Lounge and Power Pop tunes...
