So it’s off to send the SA an email. But I have to use GMail because I use a shared computer. I can’t use Outlook or any other mail program. To add insult to injury I tried calling the Neighborhood House Association Family Services at (619)263-7761. Nobody answered the phone and I was unable to leave a message. The company directory was no help, assuming knowledge I did not have.

Social service agencies have forgotten that they need to keep in touch with people. Furthermore they have forgotten that emergenies, especially individual emergencies don’t hold to a schedule. They have put their faith in protocal and regulation, forgetting that people need flexibility.

Salvation Army, Neighborhood House, et al. you need to make yourselve; available to people, to keep your lines of communications open. I could make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich but that’s it, and I don’t think the makings are going to last for the rest of the month. In addition, I have medication (Prozac and Metformin) which must be taken with food. No medicine, I get sick. I get sick I end up in hospital.

So get in touch with the agencies I listed above and let them know what you think of their callous indifference. Get in touch with every social ;ervice agency you can locate contact information for and let them know what you think of their callousness. It’s time those people started to wake up and started to remember what they’re there for.

Indeed, people may soon stop buying or leasing for an extended period and rent for an hour or a day instead. Cabs may well become cheaper, especially where municipalities allow competition. Charter and delivery services may well expand.
