The magnificent Bell & Ross BR01 Horizon Limited Edition. Finally seen in the flesh.....Felt it, wore it but yet to be mine!

Hope I will earn enough money in time to own this masterpiece!

Or someone reading this could be ever so kind with lots of money to sponsor me (haha.. thinking out loud!)

The BMW i8

2012-10-29T23:41:00.000+08:00

This is the famous BMW concept car seen in the Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Awesome concept with sexy lines which was showcased at the Pavilion Shopping Center, Kuala Lumpur from 20-28 October 2012.

It was first introduced as the BMW Concept Vision Efficient Dynamics (a mouthful)! Good thing they cut it down to just i8 for the production version. It's a plug-in hybrid car with a three cylinder turbor-diesel engine and a 7.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It also has another 2 electric motor with 139bhp which allows an acceleration from 0-100km/h in 4.8seconds!

Fuel consumption is 3.76liters/100km and the CO2 emission rating is at 99g per kilometer. The estimated all-electric range is 50km and the 24-litre diesel tank gives a total range up to 700km. The chassis is made of aluminium while the windshield, doors and fenders are made from polycarbonate glass. I wonder what would be the damage if it gets into an accident!

In 2010, BMW announced the mass production will begin in 2013 as i8. I guess the pictures below would be the production model.

The Icon Is Back. That's the tag line for the New Iconic Yellow VW Beetle. The classic look and shape of the car make it recognisable from far with just a glance.

Volkswagen - Das Auto , The People's car and my favourite brand. If I could only afford it, I will get the soon to be launched VW Golf GTi MK7 without second thought.

At the meantime, just enjoy the pictures below of the New VW Beetle which was launched at KLCC recently.

Muay Thai - Thailand vs Asia

Below are a series of pictures captured at the MuayThai event held recently at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Center.

Thanks to my friend who gotten us the media pass which allow us the ring side and close up view of the boxers. Big thank you to the event organiser as well - Alex of Elite Boxing who provided us the pass.

No doubt, the Thai Fighters showed their prowess and won most of the fights. However, our Malaysia contenders Ali Yaakub showed great skills and with the support from the crowd managed to take a match out of them.

Great Experience and I'm looking forward to the next one. Hopefully can get the ring side access again :)

It's been a long while since I've updated this site.

I've just started to get active again by getting my self disciplined to upload at least 5 photos a day.

Have not been doing it consistently but I'm progressing some where (Self consolation!.. haha)

I've been uploading it to my Facebook site though.... check it out here:

I had a great weekend at Melaka with my DSLR for the first time. The last time I went there, I was still using my pro-sumer Canon S3IS. Much more mature with my photography skills now, I had the chance for great photography opportunities and at the same time savoring the delicious local food there.

Below are some series of HDR taken during the trip. There will be more pictures covering food, portraiture and infrastructure following up.... as soon as I get the time to process it :).

At the meantime feel free to comment on the pictures below.

Bon Odori Festival

2010-07-18T20:07:00.001+08:00

Bon Odori Festival is celebrated annually at Stadium Panasonic (formerly Stadium Matshushita) at Shah Alam.

History of Bon Odori**

Bon Odori is a Japanese Buddhist Folk Dance performed outdoors and danced in concentric circle around a raised platform called a Yagura. Odori means dance and Bon is the abbreviated name of a Buddhist text, the Ullambana Sutra, whose Japanese pronunciation is Urabon, shortened to Bon.

The sutra tells the story of a Monk called Mokuren (known as Mogallana in Pali), who in meditation saw his deceased mother suffering of starvation in the Hell of Hungry Ghosts, where any food she touched burst into flames. Mokuren appealed to Shakyamuni Buddha to save his mother from her fate. Shakyamuni instructed Mokuren that in order to overcome his mother's selfish past life karma, he should make offerings of food from land and sea to his fellow monks at the end of their 90-day retreat which ended in mid-July. Upon following Shakyamuni's instructions, Mokuren danced for joy when his mother and seven generations of his ancestors were freed from their suffering.

This story gradually developed into a major memorial festival for one's ancestors, and took root in many forms in Mahayana Buddhist countries, especially in China, Korea, Japan and Vietnam. The Obon festival in Japan has been held annually since 657 A.D. In the Jodo Shinshu sect, it is called Kangi-E, or Gathering of Joy, as established by Monshu Myonyo Shonin.

Though a memorial observance, there is a festive mood during Obon. Obon is a time to remember and honor all those who have passed on before us. It is a time to appreciate all that they have done for us and to recognize the continuation of the influence of their deeds upon our lives. Obon is also a time of self-reflection; the joy one feels is not from the happiness of getting what you desire, but the joy of being shown the truth -- the joy of awareness. "Obon reminds us to love and care for our parents. It also encourages the practice of selfless giving (dana) not only to family and friends, but to all beings."

**Text extracted from - http://www.bcsfweb.org/Obon3.html

Besides the cultural dance, there are many vendors selling Japanese delicacies. You have to be patient as there will be very long queues. Since Mr. Octopus was so famous during the World Cup, Takoyaki is very highly demanded here as well :).

Night Photographry with Canon Buggers

2010-05-04T01:32:00.001+08:00

I had an interesting outing with the Canon Buggers Group last weekend at the Bukit Bintang Area. Had the chance to explore the slow shutter speed and finally utilise my remote release :)

One unfortunate encounter was with the security guard at the Lot 10 Rooftop. I should have taken his picture and post it here for all to see. He was utterly rude when he saw us taking pictures at the vicinity.

Mind you, there was no sign whatsoever stating no photography allowed. He just raised his voice and shouting "I SAID NO! NO! NO! DID YOU HEAR ME?!!"

At that time I was looking through my lens and snapped the picture below.

How the hell would I know that he was talking to me. He could have said in a professional manner to prevent us from taking the pictures, instead he acted like a barbarian trying to eat us up! Way to go... customer service at YTL, or rather the security company they hired!

I understand the property release and all those legal stuff, it's not that I'm taking the pictures for commercial purposes, it's just for my own collection.

Whatever it is, I didn't let that incident destroyed my evening. I just regard that remark as a uneducated moron trying to do his job. We went our way and got the shots below for the night.

Horroscope for today

2010-04-29T17:13:00.001+08:00

I'm starting to believe in astrology as the below really reflected my day today!

Aquarius

By Rick Levine

It's apparently your turn to show off your brilliance today and you have no intention of being a shrinking violet. But your creative genius isn't reliable and you might find the spotlight shining on you while you have nothing to say. Don't try to fake it by pretending to share what's on your mind while actually hiding your true thoughts. Once you become comfortable with the idea of opening up, then the resistance to being seen begins to fade.

If you have any ideas in mind, express it, jump with the leap of faith that it will make a difference.

Baby Pug to Genting

2010-04-26T16:54:00.000+08:00

First time I took my Baby Pug up to Genting last week. Impressed with the power it gives. Love the Tiptronic GearBox and handling.

I didn't push it that much as I wanted to get the first feel. Shall make another trip up with more aggressive approach :P

iPad @ Genting

2010-04-26T16:18:00.000+08:00

Went up to Genting last weekend and happen to see an iPad. Looks very cool when I see them browsing the photo albums.

Although not launched yet in Malaysia, we seem to be able to get it faster than anyone else if we have the money. The entry model is sold at USD499 but I saw one shop at SS2 selling at RM2450 (~USD700).

People would pay for the bragging right to have it first and be the envy of others :P

A Night @ I-City, Shah Alam

2010-04-21T10:01:00.002+08:00

A trip to I-City at Shah Alam with the Canon Buggers Group. The place was nice but didn't expect the large crowd.

Unfortunately, I missed the sunset scene. Maybe making another trip there again with another group of people. My advice, reach there before 7pm or else you will have difficulty finding parking space.

Here goes the pictures:

5 reasons to minimize your camera gear

2010-04-15T12:00:00.000+08:00

After reading the article by Steve Berardi, my urge of getting new lenses has subsided.

What I need to do now is to maximise my 17-85mm usage (hopefully it will not fail again cause it has failed twice in a span of 2 years - power diagphragm failure) and my 50mm which is under utilised.

Step 1: Learn to compose better
Step 2: Eye for Details
Step 3: Take more pictures and experiment different type of settings according to the len's capability vs the environment.
Step 4: Review the pictures on PC after taking, not just leaving it in the memory card or hard disk
Step 5: Post Processing to bring out the colours if necessary
Step 6: Learn to use external Flash settings! I'm on fully automatic now - ETTL.

Your friends and family may get on your nerves today as they become overly assertive. You may not realize it, but you are playing an important role in other people's dramas now. Unfortunately the more you resist, the more aggressive they become. However, you don't want to give in to unreasonable demands. Announcing your intention to remain non-committal until after the weekend could be enough to remove the immediate pressure and give you time to decide your next move.

2010-04-09T14:30:00.006+08:00

I'm heading towards i-City Shah Alam this weekend for a night photography. Found this article (http://bit.ly/DwXz1) to be useful and hopefully the results this Saturday would turn out as what I envisioned it to be :)

I shall post the pictures hopefully sometimes next week. At the mean time, just enjoy the pictures of long exposure shots below from various sites.
