Kyrie Irving wins MVP of Rising Stars Challenge

Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving scored 34 points including 8 three pointers and took home MVP honors in the Rising Stars Challenge. Kyrie was 12 for 13 from the field and 8 for 8 behind the arc. He also had 9 dimes in a little bit over 27 minutes of game time.

“In the first half, when I hit four threes in a row, I just kept telling ‘em, I’m feeling it,” Irving said. “I’m proud of them for actually having confidence in me. It’s fun getting hot, especially in an All-Star game where millions of people are watching. It was an enjoyable game.”

Kyrie has been a bright spot in Cleveland after the Cavaliers drafted him number one overall in the 2011 NBA Draft. He's averaging 18.1 points and 5.1 assists in 28 games so far this season.

Big Baby Throws a Big Party All Star Weekend

The NBA All Star weekend is upon us. It has been a grueling season so far with sometimes five games a week. As well there are some games that are triple back to backs. The players are grateful for much needed rest. The All Star game is in Orlando this year with some of the Magic players hosting big parties. The Magic players are hosting A-listers and b-ballers with all their high profile friends.

One of the main players hosting a party is Glen Big Baby Davis. He is hosting two parties today and tonight the first party from 2pm to 9pm and the second party from 9pm to 4am that will last into Saturday. Big Baby hired DJ PointBlanc who will be on the turntables at both parties. Big Baby has a huge guest list of top players in the league coming out with some of his former Celtics attending his party. The NBA needs to unwind tonight and it starts with the Big Baby throwing a big party that will be Big Fun.

Who Will Be Treated Best at All Star Weekend?

A group of ESPN personalities and analysts got together to discuss which players would be treated best in Orlando during NBA All Star Weekend, who should have been included in the celebrity game and who would be the star in All Star Weekend.

Obviously Dwight Howard seemed like a front runner considering the city will do just about anything to keep their marquee player from leaving town. I'd say if Rihanna shows up to Chris Brown's party (cross your fingers she does not) those two would definitely dominate headlines and take away the focus from the game.

As far as celebrities that should have been included in The All Star game, how about just a star in general? George Clooney loves basketball, Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Wahlberg and Leonardo DiCaprio starred in The Basketball Diaries...come on boys.

Where is Kim Kardashian? Put her in the Celebrity Game. She needs a new boyfriend and we need the entertainment.

Chris Brown is hosting a party at H20 tonight in Orlando starting at 9pm.

If you have $100 to spare you can buy a general admission ticket or if you're an even bigger baller you can pay $200 for VIP admission.

Just remember, all the millionaires you'll see at the party got in for free.

The event will also be hosted by Kemba Walker and John Wall. Why either of them would want to be affiliated with Chris Brown, no one knows.

When you have a lot of money, pretty much anything is possible. You can entertain ridiculous ideas, go after your wildest dreams, and sometimes even take whole countries under your wing. Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov is doing exactly that. Prokhorov has his sights set on the Russian Presidency. His Platform? "I'm Tall."

Not bad. Prokhorov has never been one to shy away from the role of "over-confident multi-billionaire", and this latest endeavor should only work to further expand his ego.

Two days before Jeremy Lin torched the Lakers for 38 points in front of a sold-out Garden crowd, Yair Rozmaryn, a card collector from Manhattan, purchased a Jeremy Lin rookie card for $1,000. Fast forward to today, and the card is selling for $20,600 on Ebay. Talk about a sound investment.

Talk about making a name for yourself quickly. Earlier this week, Knicks guard Jeremy Lin was found on the cover of Sports Illustrated for the second week in a row, an honor last received by the Mavericks' Dirk Nowitzki during last June's NBA Finals.

Javaris Crittenton Arrested for Speeding outside of Atlanta

Former NBA star, Javaris Crittenton was pulled over just outside of Atlanta yesterday for speeding. He was reportedly going over 60 mph in a 45 zone, in his black Porsche.

Formerly of the NBA, Javaris Crittenton.

Not only was Crittenton speeding, but he also refused to sign the ticket he was issued as well as step out of the car when asked. It was also told that there was an exchange of words between Crittenton and the officer which eventually lead to Crittenton exiting his vehicle.

Upon exiting his Porsche, Crittenton was arrested for speeding and obstruction of an officer.

What makes this all so bad is that Crittenton is currently out on bail for the murder of Jullian Jones, a 22-year-old mother of four.

Given his situation, he should have just signed the ticket and went on about his business.

Magic Johnson looks to showcase positive African Americans

Magic Johnson will be launching a television network in the near future. This network is said to target African-Americans and help those who have had a hard time gaining employment in mainstream Hollywood.

Magic Johnson the business man.

Johnson's 24-hour Aspire channel will include film, music, comedy, performing arts and shows that focus on Faith. His network is meant to present positive and uplifting images of other African-Americans in the world and community.

The shows will be written, produced and directed by African-Americans.

Johnson's network is set to launch on June 30th.

A professional bodyguard named Avante Rose (who is affiliated with rapper 'Game') began sending a series of tweets to Barnes alleging he has slept with his soon to be wife Gloria. After a series of tweets including some racial slurs and a lot of cursing between the two men, Barnes sent Gloria a message telling her he wanted to "make this sh*t work."

Jeremy Lin Wants Taiwan Media to Back Off

You would think that if anyone would be a bit overwhelmed by the nonstop media coverage of LIN-sanity it would be Jeremy Lin himself. But the 6'3" 23-year-old seems more concerned about the well-being of his friends and family thousands of miles away in Taiwan, who apparently cannot leave their homes without being mauled by paparazzi.

"The special request I have is for the media back in Taiwan to give my family space, because they can't even go to work without being bombarded, without people following them," Lin said at Madison Square Garden on Sunday. "I want people to respect their privacy."

Lin's paternal grandmother, Lin Chu Muen, 85, lives in the Taipei region of the country, as does other extended family, reports Yahoo! Sports.

As long as Lin continues his tear on the court, life off the court may not get any easier. Comes with the territory, big man!

Editorial: Jason Terry Not Buying into Lin-Sanity

When a third-string, Ivy-educated, Asian-American basketball player who was seriously contemplating switching professions just two weeks earlier gets catapulted to stardom on a global scale in a matter of days, there will no doubt be naysayers. Dallas Mavericks guard Jason Terry is one such cynic who warns against an inevitable downfall of the Lin-Mania. When asked about how much of Lin's recent spurt of success is a result of New York Knicks coach Mike Dantoni's highly renowned offensive system, Terry answered, "To me, it's 100% what it is."

Terry went on to adjust his comment, crediting Dantoni with only "Ninety-five Percent" of Lin's success.

Either way, it seems quite apparent that Terry is not a believer just yet in the incredible underdog story that is Jeremy Lin. So who is right: The millions of NBA fans around the world who contend that Lin is the next NBA superstar, or the countless number of naysayers who say Lin's success will not survive the test of time?

Jeremy Lin's numbers over the last nine games are ridiculous. And I don't mean ridiculous for someone who was once the twelfth man on his team, but ridiculous for a top-tier NBA player. In those nine starts, Lin is averaging 24.6 points per game and 9.4 assists per game. He has logged more minutes in his previous nine games (38.9 mpg) than he has in an entire NBA career, combined. Lin also became the first NBA player to score at least 20 points and dish out seven assists in his first five starts. Above all, a struggling Knicks team with Lin off the floor is 7-2 in games Lin has started. As a great man once said, "the stats don't lie."

But even after Lin lit up the Mavs this past Sunday at the Garden for 28 points, 14 assists and 5 steals in the Knicks 104-97 victory, Terry remained skeptical.

"If you play 46 minutes a game in this league, you have an opportunity to put up some nice numbers," Terry said. "Again, it is what it is. He'll have to maintain this pace. It's going to be tough. Ask anybody: Give them an opportunity, ball in their hands, 20-plus shots and you better do something."

While I'd be the first to admit that I'm a sucker for any underdog story, there is something to Terry's point. Jeremy Lin is the missing piece to what was once a cluttered puzzle. When Lin came in to the third quarter of a game against the New Jersey Nets just over two weeks ago, he was exactly the spark plug that his 8-15 Knicks needed. With all the high-profile acquisitions of the past year-and-a-half, from Melo to Stoudemire to Chandler, the Knicks were still lacking a point guard. Lin was now placed into a system that revolved around the point guard. He was provided an opportunity to fill that void, and all he had to do was play basketball. You could say this was nothing more than "right place, right time."

But for the sake of argument, let's go with Terry's notion and assume that Lin's days of superstardom are numbered. Let's assume that Lin is simply benefiting from a genius offensive scheme cooked up by Dantoni that makes point guards play like hall-of-famers. And let's say that the media and NBA representatives have overhyped Lin's greatness for the sake of improved interest and ratings. I'll even concede Terry's point that many NBA players could compile decent numbers if given 46 minutes of playing time a game; these points may be valid.

But the bottom line is this: Lin is humble. He is religious, hard-working and close with his family. In an era in sports plagued with indecent and even criminal athletes, Jeremy Lin serves as a testament for youth to the benefit of hard work, determination and - oh yeah - education. This could not have happened to a better all-around person. Whether Lin can continue to live up to the hype for years to come remains to be seen. But to the Jason Terry's of the world who want to rain on Lin's parade and highlight all the potential pitfalls of this great story, give it a rest. Let Lin enjoy his moment in the spotlight and let us all hope that more athletes like him can rise to the top of the sporting world.

So what does sharp-shooter Nick Young of the Washington Wizards do on a Saturday night 48 hours before the last game of a 5 game road trip? Well let's just say Nick isn't the most shy NBA player. Young ended up in the Ritz-Carlton and before you knew it he was taking pictures and eating cake at a strangers wedding. Can you say Wedding Crasher?

"I just said, ‘Congratulations to the bride and groom,' " Young said with a laugh. "I didn't know nobody. I went in there and gave a speech. I was a wedding crasher. Will Ferrell. I didn't have nothing else to do."

When your 7-25, I guess you gotta do what you gotta do to get some laughs and a little press!

The Bobcats record in the NBA may not reflect their record in the community. When the Hornets were in Charlotte, North Carolina they were always one of the top ranked teams in attendance in the league. When the economy went bad in 2008 former owner Robert Johnson began to lay off his community programs that served the entire city of Charlotte. Michael Jordan may go down as the best player ever to play the game, now he may go down as a great owner who is rebuilding community outreach to the city of Charlotte. Michael Jordan does want to rebuild the Bobcats into a team that has a winning tradition. He also wants to have a supportive fan base, but it begins first for him by reaching the people. He wants the Bobcats to be a fabric of the City like the Panthers or Bank of America.

The first thing he did to make an impact in the community was starting a program called Cats Care. The Bobcats aim is to feed the homeless and help poor families. Michael Jordan and all the players will be involved in this outreach. As well, the Bobcats have been donating money and needs for non-profit companies like Second Harvest. The Bobcats spent $125,000 on a truck that will feed the homeless. The Bobcats are one of the first teams that get it; they want to serve the community, impact families off the court. It is not always about making money or putting fans in the seats, but it’s about impacting a community, enabling the Bobcats to become a fabric in Charlotte. It starts with the best player ever to play the game. He wants to become a great owner, starting it off the court, impacting the team on the court. The Bobcats may end up with the first pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, but before that ever happens they may be the first pick for families in need in Charlotte.
