The Research Councils UK Public Engagement with Research (PER) Team develops and delivers joint strategy and policies, and public engagement programmes across the Research Councils.

RCUK now have an exciting opportunity for a Public Engagement with Research Policy Manager to join their team.

You will be responsible for delivering, coordinating and facilitating the development of a portfolio of team projects and providing support in development and implementation of future activities in these areas.

The South West region of the National HE STEM Programme (www.hestem-sw.org.uk) is, in conjunction with educational charity AccessHE, leading on an initiative to construct a sustainable basis for enhanced partnership between Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and `Third Sector' organisations in the delivery of activities to enable progression to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) study at higher education level for learners from groups presently under-represented in higher education.

ESRC Funding for Knowledge Exchange

The ESRC's knowledge exchange funding call is now open and will close on 7 Feb. It includes public engagement within the call.

The scheme provides the opportunity to apply for funding for knowledge exchange activities at any stage of the research lifecycle, and is aimed at maximising the impact of social science research outside academia.

Topics covered include expressing complex ideas in an accessible way, making the most of networking, top tips on public speaking, blogging, tweeting, and presenting yourself and your ideas to the media.

British Science Association Award Lectures

The British Science Association is seeking nominations for our Award Lectures to be delivered during the British Science Festival in Aberdeen between 4th and 9th September 2012.

The Award Lectures reward five researchers who are also talented communicators, able to share their work with a general audience.

There are five Award Lectures focussing on different areas of science, engineering and technology:

Joseph Lister Award - Social sciences

Isambard Kingdom Brunel Award - Engineering, technology and industry
