First B Corporation in Asia

We are proud to announce that The New Media Group is the first Certified B Corporation in Asia!

B Corporations are a new kind of company which uses the power of business to solve social and environmental problems. There are currently over 530 Certified B Corporations from sixty industries.

About The New Media Group:

B Lab is a nonprofit organization dedicated to using the power of business to solve social and environmental problems. Global Fellows Update

It has been a month after Rachel and I have returned back to the states, almost 2 months since we left Mongolia and we even have great news! For those of you who are just tuning in, Rachel and I spent our summer in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, working with The New Media Group as their first installment of Global fellows. We were tasked with working within the organization to try to work through the application process of becoming a Benefit Corporation.

It was an incredible experience in which we were able to really get to know the organization and the employees. It was an experience we will never forget. As busy as we have been, we have been fortunate enough to keep in touch with The New Media Group as best as possible, and we enjoy hearing their updates. After speaking Mende, the CEO of The New Media Group, he informed us that they had indeed become a Benefit Corporation. This is a huge feat. The New Media Group has now become the first Benefit Corporation in Mongolia as well as the first in Asia; paving the way for other such companies. Rachel and I are elated to have been able to be apart of the team and help the organization accomplish their goal. We know that this is only the beginning and that there are big things ahead for The New Media Group.

While we are currently in the states and we have no idea where we will end up, a part of our hearts will always be in Mongolia. Our memories are lasting of the summer we spent working with The New Media Group and the friendships that were made, will last a lifetime. Rachel and I, along with Unknown Travels, sends a big ‘Congratulations!’ to The New Media Group on this accomplishment!
