Human Trafficking: The Local View May 21st @ 7PM, room 212-213 Human trafficking is a $32 billion global industry, the fastest-growing and second-largest criminal activity in the world. A welcome convergence of attention and political will has pushed Washington State to the front lines of the battle. It is comfortable to think trafficking is ‘over there-or international’ – and it is. But it is also in our own back yard. The AWARE organization documented loosing 300 young girls from Portland high schools, and another 100 from Vancouver high schools, last year alone. How many were lost from Northshore or Lake Washington? How many is too many? What if it was your daughter, or granddaughter? Come and learn about what trafficking looks like in Seattle, in Bothell, and the many opportunities there are to become involved, to make a difference in our community, and in God’s Kingdom.

Men to Serve at Women’s Tea

Northshore’s annual Friendship Tea is this coming Saturday, April 28^th. We are expecting 440 women!! This is a huge outreach and we have many, many guests who do not attend church. It’s such an exciting opportunity! We need servers and a tear down/clean up crew: Servers: (Black Pants, White Shirt and Tie) need 25 men to serve from 10:15 am – 1:15 pm.
o   Arrive at 10:15 for instructions
o   Serve hot tea, iced tea and iced water to the ladies until 1:15 PM
o   Lunch provided

Tear down/Clean up Worship Center, need 10-12 men from 2:45 pm – 4:45pm. So grab a friend to volunteer along with you – You’ll be blessed!To serve, please respond ASAP to John & Loretta Trainor at tea4friendship@gmail.com and for the tear down/clean up crew please contact Beth Lisenby at Bethl@nsb.org. Meet a felt need: Blood Drive

Blood Drive Monday April 30th from 1:00pm - 7:00 pm at Northshore Baptist Church. 900 people are needed daily to donate blood to meet the needs of patients in our community. With less than on hour of time and a pint of blood, one volunteer donor can help up to three people – premature babies, children and adults with cancer and leukemia, surgery patients and victims of traumatic injury. If you would like to volunteer your time and donate blood, come to Northshore Baptist Church from 1:00 – 7:00 on Monday April 30. Juanita Bay Park Restoration Project

Description of volunteer effort: Partner with Starbucks to impact Juanita Beach Area

An abundance of wildlife lives in or visits 110 acres of preserved wetlands and marshes at Juanita Bay Park. The animal population within this habitat includes songbirds, waterfowl, raptors, shorebirds, amphibians, turtles, beavers, and other small mammals. The park offers extraordinary views of Forbes Creek Wetland, Juanita Beach, and Juanita Bay. The park features paved trails, boardwalks, open lawn areas, restroom, benches, and picnic tables. Invasive plant species are a problem at the park and volunteers are needed to help restore the natural habitat. The Green Kirkland Partnership will be targeting restoration efforts in the area west of 98th Avenue NE (Market Street) and near the boardwalks.

April 2 Sewing B

Monday April 2^nd from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm in the Student Center, is an opportunity to join Northshore’s Sewing B. Seamstresses of all abilities meet monthly to sew projects such as pillowcase dresses to be sent to Nicaragua and other countries, chair packs and weighted lap pads used right here in the Northshore and Lake Washington School Districts. Last month 105 sundresses were sent along with the women’s mission team to Los Cedros, Nicaragua. In an earlier mission trip to Nicaragua the Sewing B group sent 40 dresses along with the mission team. After the dresses had been distributed, a little girl came up to receive her dress and cried when she found out there were no more dresses. Another girl selflessly gave up the dress she had just received to her younger friend. This young girl had no idea if she would receive another dress for herself. Hearing the story the Sewing B group made her 2 very special dresses to choose from. They were taken to her by the next mission team to go to Los Cedros. Sewing B will meet again May 7^th and will be making t-shirt dresses to be sent to India. Donations of pillowcases, sheets, fabric, trims for dresses are thankfully accepted.
