		<title>Limahuli Announces Summer Internships, Ages 13-18</title>
		<description>Limahuli Garden and Preserve has announced it is accepting applications for a special internship program for students 13-18 years of age. The program will run June 24-28 at NTBG's garden on the north shore of Kaua'i.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Led by Limahuli staff and other experts in the community, interns will examine traditional and modern practices in resource-based management, applying the concept of the Hawaiian ahupua'a.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Learning experiences include native plant conservation and forest restoration, community food systems, subsistance fishery management, and watershed resource management.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

Captain Cook's sailings were voyages of discovery, carrying trained observers: artists, astronomers, and naturalists. The artists that shipped out with Cook tried, very successfully in their own unique styles to capture 'Paradise on Paper'. This presentation will highlight the images created during these voyages.&lt;br /&gt;

		<title>Today Show tapes in McBryde Garden</title>
		<description>&lt;strong&gt;On Monday, May 20 NBC's "Today" show will focus on the Hawaiian Islands. When choosing the setting to introduce Hawai'i to its 4-million+ viewers, the producers selected NTBG's McBryde Garden.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The taped segment, scheduled to be broadcast during the first part of the popular morning program, will feature an interview with Kaua'i kumu hula (hula teacher) Kapu Kinimaka-Alquiza and traditional dance by her hula halau (school) Na Hula O Kaohikukapulani, backdropped by one of the majestic ficus trees and palms along the border between the Stillwater Dam area and 'Big Valley' (see photo).&lt;br /&gt;

We are currently seeking an Assistant Director of Conservation at the National Tropical Botanical Garden. Candidate should have a college degree in biological sciences or natural resources, or a related field (preferably with graduate or professional training), and at least three years of experience working in conservation in Hawai'i. Must have experience in supervising a diverse team and managing multiple projects.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Candidate must have a willingness to travel to other Hawaiian Islands and mainland locations on occasion, and to participate in extended overnight camping trips to work in remote locations. Preference will be given to candidates with supervisory experience in conducting invasive species control and restoration projects. Experience in developing funding proposals and contract/grant reporting is essential.&lt;br /&gt;
