Not even kidding

The NZCast has returned, and is less regular than ever! We’re ditching the weekly schedule in favour of randomly-when-we-feel-like-it recording, mostly due to the fact neither Gavin or I are actually available at the same times to record the show. We figure a random episode every now and again is, just about, better than nothing. So here we are.

This took a bit longer to get put together than I thought it would, but here it is: Nukezilla‘s wrap-up of E3 and coverage of the non-event that was the 3DS press conference. I guess everyone should have known something was up when neither G4 or Spike wanted to break up their schedule of Cops reruns to air it.

We got a podcast done!

Today’s edition (and by today’s, I mean Monday’s, because Sony’s press conference didn’t end until 10:30 p.m. and I work overnights, and then the server was stupid and wouldn’t let me upload it) features myself, Meagan and Cody. You guys haven’t seen much of his work here yet, but you will soon. Hooray for video reviews!

Anyway, we talk Microsoft and Sony’s press conferences, I keep forgetting things, and quite possibly for the first time ever, three people got together for a long Skype conference call and no one got dropped.

Oh, and my skills with Audacity are rudimentary at best, so hopefully the edits aren’t too jarring.

My mouse is broken. This took forever with a trackpad.

We’re back and filled with as much ire and disdain as ever before!

In this new show you’ll notice some acoustical differences from the old one. These super awesome parts were provided by the wonderful Josh whose website can be visited here.

The first show back is unsurprisingly a tad longer that we intended. But that’s to be expected when so many exciting things happened in our absence. These things include but are not limited to:

Various E3 happenings.
Gavin has to get a job and finish Uni like a legitimate adult.

Finally a podcast for which ‘haitus’ does in fact mean a temporary pause.

That’s right boys and girls ladies and gents, we shall be returning Tuesday the 5th of July (right after my birthday no less!) to fill your ears with the new and improved NZCast 4.00.

I’m all but finished with University and the gears are turning on the whole ‘getting a job’ and ‘moving’ thing, like a legitimate adult. Wardrox is… Wardroxing it up still, transformation to hipster almost complete!

In the last show of the season before we take a brief hiatus to do exams and assignments and vent the rage build-up caused by intense battledrome sessions, we take to the internets for some live listener interaction along with the sexual Ben Stead. This results in many tangents and a rivetting discussion of slapping women’s bottoms. Some other things talked about include:

I Got Next

Last week I had a short chat with Ian Cofino, Director and Producer of I Got Next, a fascinating documentary looking into the competitive world of fighting games in the US.

A 45 minute cut of the film was released in 2009 and covered just three months in the lives of some of America’s greatest players and the community which surrounds them. Cofino continued to film for a year before he had enough footage to finish his feature length documentary. Right now the film is waiting for a distributor.
