“a word formed from the initial letters or groups of letters of words in a set phrase or series of words, as Wac from Women’s Army Corps, OPEC from Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, or loran from long-range navigation.”

This said, we are also going with the most common misuse of the word acronym and are including abbreviations in our definition, also, it is kind of the purpose of NAAPWA.org to make fun of these acronyms/abbreviations! Hey, it’s my site, I can do what I want!

In the future, I am sure that there will be someone who gets upset with me and/or this website, NAAPWA.org, I want to make sure that I say this as many times as I can, the purpose of this site is not to pick on any single group, any group of groups, or the members within, but to point out the fact that we live in a world full of these acronyms, they surround us everywhere, in fact, we probably couldn’t function as a society without some of them.

What, no Acronym of your own?

For many of us “less than fortunate” people, we either have no Acronym of our own, or we do not wish to take part in the use of an acronym that does represent us, for whatever reason, however, once you become a member of this association, you will have an acronym that you can be proud of!

Becoming a member of NAAPWA is easy, simply register and apply for membership through the contact form, make sure to tell us why you would like to join and if you are interested in a leadership position. Once we get members from around the country, local membership site may be needed so make sure to indicate whether you would be willing to write articles for this site or even help with the many chores this organization will have.

What do I have to do to get my own Acronym?

Once you have been approved for membership, you will be authorized to use the NAAPWA acronym in appropriate ways only, any misuse of the NAAPWA acronym will result in loss of membership. As a member, you will be authorized to recruit new members and participate in all NAAPWA functions. At the time of this article being published, there are no membership fees or dues, but once we have a growing membership, this will change, so getting in on the ground floor is a serious benefit.

At the time this organization decides on future functions, or even products like T-shirts, the appropriate dues and fees will be needed to fund these operations. The NAAPWA acronym is here for you as long as you are here for NAAPWA!
