With the passing of the World Cup, and with the passing of soccer season, and the ramping up of baseball, football and NASCAR, the time seems appropriate to add a few more comments in polemic against soccer.

The Soccer Fields

It's a real shame that they're known as soccer fields; I suppose it could be a way to teach young people the sheer mockery of the sport that takes away the use of the hands and actually encourages the use of the head as a contact instrument. I will observe that as a nation's culture progresses and improves, especially in economic and human freedom, its soccer skills decline (see Brazil). A nation whose soccer skills are on the ascendancy, well, see England.

On Comfort in the Little Things

Nachmu, as you may have discovered, is a site dedicated to finding comfort in everyday life, a respite from trouble and toil, pain and anger. For example, my most recent entry, <a href="http://nachmu.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=162&Itemid=40" target="_"blank">Some Sentimental Joy, is a perfect example of just that notion. While your troubles and pains and sorrows may be greater than mine, just the same, mine are great, and this website has become a dedication toward finding comfort anywhere and everywhere it is offered, but with wisdom.

The Nachmu boys were absent Mrs. Nachmu again, this time for two weeks, a major disruption in the grand scheme of things. But God provides, and while we waited for Mrs. Nachmu to return, we experienced some real joy, the kind that would be used as a backdrop for the annual sappy Hallmark Christmas TV specials.

Regular readers of Nachmu may remember that Nachmu the Younger is allergic to almost every kind of food, including milk, eggs, wheat, oats and peanuts. We eat a ton of rice and potatoes and corn. Mrs. Nachmu and I occasionally escape for pizza and subs, but there is one thing that is lacking in the Nachmu household: pie. Holiday time exacerbates the problem, so I did some searching.

The following is a recipe for pumpkin pie that is wheat-free, egg-free, and milk-free. It is, by the way, culled
